Valentines was awesome. we leveled to 80 in WoW and I made an all chocolate feast. the featured ingredient was a tin of Green & Black's organic cocoa powder. the dinner menu was as follows:

1st course- chocolate fruit soup - thick and flavorful, this amuse buche is served warm, in a demitasse cup, garnished with a banana slice. strong flavors of blueberry, banana and tangerine.

2nd course- Spicy Cocoa Black Bean Soup - black beans and fresh vegetables, herbs and spices give this brothy soup an earthy kick. cumin, garlic, and spicy paprika are used in conjunction to bring out the savory side of the cocoa powder.

3rd course- Roasted Vegetables - onions, corn and green beans tossed in olive oil, salt, garlic and cocoa powder, then roasted to perfection.

4th course- Chicken Mole` served with spanish rice - Rice, olives, tomatoes and paprika served beneath a bone-on chicken breast baked in rich mole sauce, with vegetables, almonds, dried cranberries, and sesame seeds.

5th course- Red velvet cupcakes - deliciously moist and fluffy, these cupcakes are topped with a strawberry-chocolate cream cheese-yogurt frosting.

oranges, apples, avocados, cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, pineapple, lychee, grapefruit, pumelos.. that's all I can think of.. but basically if it's a fruit, I like it. =3

In'n'Out.. I know, Mormon Burger.. I only go there once a year, but I love the 3x animal style. =3

Buffet: VIP chinese/sushi all you can eat. ^.^ scary, I know, but the sushi is pretty good. =3 the chinese food is not so bueno, however.
restaurant: Gourmet Carousel in San Francisco. really awesome tiny chinese restaurant. it's amazing. I normally get the roast duck, dry fried string beans, potstickers, pork spare ribs and a big container of rice. then just sit and feast with a friend or two for a couple hours. =3 also, they serve fresh soup, complimentary. =3

yup- it's that time of year again- when I get all bubbly and subby and happy and generally annoying.

and the 28th was my birthday, a really fantastic time to have one too. I feel like all the holidays around this time are my birthday, so I get more like.. 4 or 5 birthday feasts. =3

I wanted to go there every year for my birthday because they had "popcorn rice", squid with black bean sauce and lychee nut ice cream. and going from treat to treat was like, "Woah.. omg.. OH FUCK NO THEY DIDN'T!" and then "oh shit.. I think they did.."

maybe it was my mom's german meatballs.. with the whole wheat breadcrumbs, and the caraway seeds, and the gravy thickened with a slurry of sour cream and corn starch, the egg noodles, the side of sauteed carrots in a butter honey sauce and fresh grated nutmeg..

or the first time I ever had a steamed red beet, just a round slap slathered in sweet butter..

my favorite images go beyond the bland portraiture that furry is so frequently given to indulge in.

I see classic furry protraits as a great way to practice. but do I want to surround myself with Dookyfox's pictures of his superfantastic character that has, like, 6 arms because of a magic power he gained from some anime hero that he's related to? mno.

I want to look at something that makes me think- if there's no emotional response from the viewer, it's just fluffy filler. I also have a huge respect for originality- whether in perspective, medium, subject matter- whatever. again, it's exciting.

hey, does anyone have a food that reminds them of something that their "animal" would eat? I know for me, it's chicken.. I start cutting up those hens, and I get all excited, slicing and separating meat from bone.. yea, I have a bit of bloodlust.. but I know otters who like sushi because it makes them feel ottery.. I want to know if there are perhaps rabbits who have a specifically "rabbit" food that they enjoy, wolves who eat something that makes them feel wolfish, cats that express their feline-ness through consumption of food, or even a technique? do rodents appreciate cheese fondue more than most others? would wolves rather have steak tartare?

ultimately, I want to cater a cocktail party at a con. most likely off-site, due to fees/regulations, but I want to make "furry" food. and I don't mean mtn dew, cheese burgers and cock. I mean haute cuisine. I want people in ties and sport coats, damnit.

When it comes down to it, all furries are in the fandom for is the yiff. To view yiffy porn and have yiffy role play on IM's and such. But what is yiff.

The most common answer would be that yiff is the furry terminology for anthropomorphic artwork, or virtual sexual acts between 2 or more net users, i.e cyber sex. Another answer is that yiff is the sound made when foxes mate, and that because there is a large grouping of fox characters in the fandom then it made sense for that sound to mean online furry sex.

But did you know that yiff actually means NEITHER of those. I'll give you a moment to let that sink in.

Back in 1990, when the net was still in its infancy there was no furry fandom as we know it. No cons, no FA or FAP, no furry MUCKS or furry IRC servers, not even a FurNation. Back then, furries had to meet in random locations to chat. Back then there was a user called Foxen who RP'd as a character called "littlefox". It was here that yiff came into meaning.

Yes, the word that now means hardcore fetish involved furry sex once meant an energetic or happy hello. Yerf, which generally now means clean furry art, was a sad hello or yes. But at any rate, before 1990, yiff as a word did not exist. But then it came into formation and meant hello.

So I ask this one question; what in the name of Satan happened? How did a cute happy greeting get turned into a sexual reference? My only conclusion is that, being human and generally sexually developed, furries began churning out masses of furry porn and somehow yiff got dragged into this. This is only a guess but from what I've seen and experienced in the fandom probably quite true.

So, I am beginning a crusade. Post this article to your own journal and encourage others to do the same. It'll probably not work since, in the structure of the fandom, I'm less then a nobody, but maybe, just maybe it can cause a ripple or two and maybe then yiff can once again mean a happy hello and not a seedy sexual reference.
