This anime angers me.
General | Posted 13 years agoSaint Seiya Omega.
I've managed to gloss over and overlook almost all of my issues with this anime, and almost enjoy it by now (currently watching it out of spite, and I still believe it can get better)
1. Main character still has something about him that just... ugh, I hate him.
but most importantly,
2. Wtf is up with the Gold Saints? The old one had 2.5 evil ones, (like, Legit evil) but this one... I think we've got 2 good guys, 2 unknowns, and 4 evil ones to date.
I had my issues with the 2 from the original, since they're supposed to be the epitome of all that Saints stand for (I'll let Gemini slide, since a good/evil dichotomy makes sense for the character embodying that star sign)
But here? We're only three quarters of the way through, and four of them turn their back on Athena (in this case, both sides of Gemini being batshit crazy violent) and two of them seem to be doing so, although they might turn out better.
FFFFFffff Why do I keep watching this, like I did with Gundam Age, when I rage at every episode?

Forgot to mention, got my WiiU
General | Posted 13 years agoWill be updating later with the actual launch day story, on my way to work at the moment.
Edit;
All right then.
In short, I was supposed to get one from my company. Unfortunately, Friday we were advised that Nintendo hadn't sent nearly enough for sale, and our preorders with the company store were cancelled.
Fast forward to Sunday, and I'm getting up at 5am so I can hop on the metro and take a trip across the city to a Walmart. Why that one? Because t didn't take preorders. Which meant it still had copies that weren't spoken for.
I arrived with a friend at quarter to 7, and others began to arrive at around quarter after. At eight we were let in, and though we were strolling at a rapid pace towards the electronics department, my friend and I were passed by about half the crowd who was running and shoving each other. (Oddly, every last one of them had made mention of owning an x360 or ps3)
Once we got to the counter, the clerks had carted all the consoles behind it so they could just sell them one at a time in a fairly simple manner. We took our place behind the line, and here's where my heart beamed with faith in humanity.
All of those who hadn't run and shoved and passed us(read: those who admitted to either no being gamers or solely Nintendo fans.) began to shove my friend and I through the crowd, loudly calling out that we were the first in line and should get the fire pair of consoles.
There was enough for all twenty or so present, but it was still a really nice gesture.

Staying in bed today ;-;
fffff it wouldn't bother me too much if fevers didn't make my skin sensitivity go through the roof. I can barely stop squirming and biting my lip, how am I supposed to rest up? D;
Edit:
Days later and I still feel like shiiiiiiiit.
I could go on at length about how shitty I feel, but a picture is worth a thousand words, so here:

General | Posted 13 years agoWelp, I'm back from thanksgiving visits.
Let's just not talk about the particulars, but at the very least I managed to cook and eat more than my fill of great foodstuffs.
On the other hand, now I have more than two thousand submissions to thumb through , so if it looks like I'm ignoring FA, it's cause I kinda was. And now I'm catching up.

State of being and Pandalands
General | Posted 13 years agoWelp, I'm level 90 in wow, got an 80 monk to level next but the big rush is done now that I have two server first kills under my belt (even if non guild groups don't give the feat of strength, waaaa).
Got a Return to Ravnica prerelease lined up today, as well as going to see Looper later tonight (In case anyone's interested, I'm expecting to play, depending on availability, Izzet->Azorius->Golgari->Rakdos->Selesnya)
And I just finished clearing up the 1200+ submissions I had in my updates. Now to get back to my rp threads that I've been woefully ignoring.
And finally, as for writing actual stories, it's going pretty slow, but I feel like http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3837154/ is really helping me.
Writing new and different things always seems to stir up the creative juices.
Oh, and later this week I'm visiting my parents for the first time in six months (and, related, my sister and cousins, whom I haven't spoken to in a year ;3)

Snippet Suggestions ?
General | Posted 13 years agoAll right, so dividing myself between multiple different projects and a crippling lack of sleep is severely impairing my writing mojo.
As such, I'm taking suggestions so that I can drop kick my way through writer's block with as many different ideas as I can. Comment below with characters, ideas, situations, kinks, -something-.
If I find something interesting, I'll reply with a paragraph or three.
edit:
Almost forgot to add, to be afraid to suggest something just cause it's not something you'll usually see from me. I'm -real- open to new stuff, and writing things is the whole point of this.

I am so tired of peeps saying this game is so 'dumbed down'
General | Posted 13 years agoTalking about World of Warcraft. And I'm ranting. And I'm addressing myself to the group of players who complain that the game is so 'dumbed down' when relating to Vanilla.
How tired am I? Let me count the ways.
1. Quests
Vanilla: Go here, kill this. Maybe pick up some things. Often, go to the other end of the world and come back.
Currently: Still have the kill quests, the fetch quests, the gathering quests... but also quests where we make booze. Quests where we shoot rockets at flying dragons. Quests where we face off against giant robot while wearing another giant robot.
Winner: Current WoW. Why? Diversity. Also, and this is something that will come up often, TEDIOUSNESS DOES NOT EQUAL COMPLEXITY. Sure it took longer to level in Vanilla. But that's not because it was so much -harder-. It's because it took you two hours to finish a single quest.
2. Raiding.
Vanilla: In ye olden days, the mechanic of "run out of the raid, wait until the debuff explodes, and come back" was something difficult.
Current: That mechanic I talked about just now? Quests have that. And when bosses have it it's just about the easiest thing in the world for a raider to adjust to. Compare Spine of Deathwing, or Yorsahj, or the Lich King, or even most of the current dungeon bosses to most bosses from Molten Core.
Winner: Current. I do give honorable mention that there are a few old fights that are pretty interesting mechanically, but for the most part the old raids are horribly tedious and long, and challenging because of gear limitations, not skill.
3. Class rotations
Classic: Let's go with the Marksmanship hunter for our example. Strategy? Hit aimed shot on Cooldown. Make sure serpent sting is up. And... uh.... autoattack for ten seconds?
Current: Again, Marksmanship. Chimera shot, serpent sting, steady shots in pairs to generate focus and put up the eight second improved steady shot buff, using Aimed Shot during haste cooldowns, bleed off excess focus with Arcane Shot, judicious use of Rapid Fire and Readiness.
Winner: Current. Hands down.
Please give me a valid reason why one would ever think that Vanilla was more 'complex' than the current scene in world of Warcraft. One that doesn't include "blugh, everyone can play now." because, again, Tediousness does NOT equal complexity.

It's a little voice Q&A meme, and you'll get the opportunity to hear me, with NO sound effects or voice altering software.
I will pick up to ten questions at most out of all the ones that get posted here. Ask anything you want to know, be it story related, something about me, etc. and I'll do my best to think of an appropriate answer.
It might take a while to do this so don't expect me to post the reply as soon as possible. Ready, set, go!

Yesterday was bizarre.
General | Posted 13 years agoNot only was work kinda weird, but there was a huge manifestation outside my work place for students on strike from school. (Goddamnit Quebec youth, stop complaining you aren't getting financial aid from government loans when you're on strike. That shit just makes sense. >..>)
I helped an old man carry boxes down the street to his car (and even though he looked frail, those boxes were freakin heavy. I'm honestly amazed he was able to carry them all at once before I went out to help)
And then I turned around and was greeted with the sight of multiple policemen on horseback. And the horses had visors. I wish I'd taken a picture, but these horses looked ready to fuck you up.
Then I went and bought some bacon, salami, pepperoni, cheeze, some chives, garlic dressing and a few spices.
Tonight I create the mother of all baconweave logs. That shit's gonna be artery clogging as fuck, but the taste'll be worth it.

A bit of a state of things regarding my writing.
General | Posted 13 years agoWhile most of my creative juices are being squeezed towards a few secret projects here and there, I thought I'd give you all a heads up on what's happening on this side of the keyboard.
I'm still slowly planning out the three or so kiriban/request stories.
I've got another fully written one bouncing around my head, just need to find time to drop it on paper.
And White Clover chapter 3 was written before posting chapter 2. In fact, I think all three were written in the span of about four days. The ideal situation would be to write up chapter 4 and then post this one, but I'm still on the fence about whether to continue the project.
Other than that, a lot of my free time is spent unwinding by singing and playing my new stock of games from the steam summer sale, since work is driving me into overtime more and more and I'm feeling more need to just unwind and vegetate.
Edit:
And in case anyone ever wonders why I barely respond/take a long time to do so, keep in mind I watch over 2500 artists.
And I Never nuke my submissions.

Weekly anime Review.
General | Posted 13 years agoWhelp, looks like I gave up already.
After recording one whole episode and half of another, I've realized that it's just not feasible to recap/review all the shows I watch. I can barely keep up with them all as is, nevermind when I'm taking down notes. Just this week as an example, I should have recorded an episode today, but I still have 9 episodes to watch from the past week.
Oh well, I'll find something else to do. Maybe series reviews, or movies, or games.
Or maybe I'll stick to singing covers or doing miscelanous readings, who knows?

Just got back from the Dark Knight Rises.
General | Posted 13 years agoAnne Hataway makes a surprisingly good Catwoman.
Still hate Bane's Voice.
Still hate Bale's Batman Voice.
Blake was hands down one of my favourite characters in the movie (along with Selina, Alfred and Miranda)
And the tension/epic scenes were absolutely stunning.
All in all?
I preferred the avengers, but I think this might be the better movie overall. Still gotta let the shocks settle in before I make an honest judgement.
Look like I'm experimental.

So if I were to start a weekly anime review...
General | Posted 13 years agoSo if I were to start a weekly anime review of the shows I watch, giving a summary and quick opinion on each individual episode, would anyone care to see it?
I'll probably end up doing it either way, but I'm curious as to whether anyone here would want to read it.
Or, another option would be for me to record it as a radioshow / podcast type deal.
Gimme your thoughts and opinions, please.
Edit:
I should probably mention that doing one way doesn't stop me from the other. If people want both, I'll do both. So far it looks like an episode review will run me about 2-3 minutes of talking and about five hundred words of text. Of course there will always be series that have more or less to talk about, and it's possible the first time is longer than the rest because I'll try to give a short intro to the series premise and story.

Weekly anime review for the week of July 1rst 2012
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm going to try and give a quick rundown on my thoughts of this season's opening Animes.
Arcana Famiglia
The story of a group of people (The "Famiglia", or Family) who act as granters of vigilante justice for a small island nation, protecting it and it's inhabitants from crime as best they can.
The setup of the story had a nice pace to it and the characters look to be interesting, and it seems to be setting up for your typical 'people with powers fighting tournament' type deals, which I certainly enjoy. My only qualms are that the way they chose to grant exposition on 'common knowledge' in the episode felt very heavy handed.
Adapted from a visual novel and produced by J.C. Staff, the same studio who brought us Revolutionary Girl Utena, Excel Saga, Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Azumanga Daioh , Loveless and others. Their signature animation skills and wonderful fluidity in the movements of characters is present, and I'm going to keep watching this one for sure.
Chitose Get You!!
A very cute, adorable anime about a young girl in love with an older boy. The animation doesn't feel nearly as polished as some of the other entries on this list, but the 'young' , more generic artstyle lends itself well to the feeling of the show. Shows moments of very good animation in between more clunky frames, so it looks like it's a design decision, not a skill. Works well. Episodes seem to be about 3minutes long.
Based on a 4koma comic, and produced by Silver Link, the same studio behind Brave 10, Arakawa under the Bridge, Usagi Drop and Mawaru Penguin drum.
Nothing too special, but I might keep watching because it's short and easy to digest.
Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita
In a world where the human population is in decline and Faeries are the most prosperous race on the planet, a young girl tries her best to do her job as Mediator between humans and Fae.
This anime is... strange. It feels bland and almost sickeningly cute at first, but watching it for a few minutes is enough to realize there's more than meets the eye. The first episode shows us this show is going to be constantly flip flopping between cavity inducing adorable and nightmare fuel creepy. And this isn't even considering the eternal smile the faeries have on their features, even when talking about the new adventure that is "Humans dying from starvation. A slow and Brutal Death!"
Produced by AIC A.S.T.A who are respondible for the equally adorable Acchi Kochi, Ah! My Goddess, Persona 4 the Animation, Bastard! and Tenchi Universe, amongst others.
The soft and cute animation is adorable, and they know how to make the right changes in lighting to make a character seem utterly deranged and borderline Evil in intention. This is another show I'll be keeping an eye on.
Tari Tari
An anime revolving around several japanese school girls who are too young to call themselves women, but no longer think of themselves as children. It's a pleasant little high school drama that showed promise with it's interesting characters and well placed music. It seems the plot of the show will involve a chorus, or music group of some sort.
Produced by P.A.Works, responsible for Another, Angel Beats and Canaan, amongst others. The sound direction for most of those blew me away, so I'm expecting a good experience from this one.
Chouyaku Hyakuninisshu: Uta Koi
Uta Koi tells the "super-liberal interpretation" of the Hyakuninisshu anthology compiled during Japan's Heian period of 100 romantic poems from 100 different poets such as The Tale of Genji's Murasaki Shikibu. The art style mixes soft static patterns with extremely heavy outlines for characters, giving a feel of cut outs moving against a screen.
It showcases many of the poems as well as their meaning, as conversations and correspondences between characters.
Has some pretty good humour mixed in with voices that are pleasing to my ears, as well some rather adult punchlines and themes.
Feels very much like Chihayafuru, so I hope it'll gather my interest just as much
I don't know much about it, but my interest is piqued enough for me to keep watching.
Natsuyuki Rendez-vous
A very warm anime, featuring a man in love with a flower shop owner, to the point where he decides to work for her.
Unfortunately, he soon learns that the spirit of her dead husband resides in the shop/appartment, and he's the only one who can see him.
Believable characters, nothing bad about the art style and an all around sweet feeling to it, this anime's produced by Dogakobo, who were mostly involved in animation assistance and in between animations for Ergo Proxy, Eureka Seven, Pokemon 2000 and others.
Looks kinda nice, I think I'll keep track of this one too.

So every time I sit down and go into my own headspace...
General | Posted 13 years agoEvery once in a while, I sit down, meditate for half an hour, and just retreat from the world to go into my own thoughts.
On a good day, I can plan out what feels like hours and hours of plot and script in the span of tens of minutes. (It's like when you get an eight hour dream that turned out to be sixteen minutes)
And on others, I just relax and paint a pretty landscape in my mind's eye, shut down all external sensations and just get lost in a beautiful world.
This latter one is the one I was doing tonight, and as is true every single time I do it, tears flowed from my eyes in a greater volume than at any other time in the past few years.
I don't know if I should be worried about my own feelings because this keeps happening. Hmm.
In other news.
DICKS.

Give me suggestions.
General | Posted 13 years agoUgh, still a kiriban and two other requests to finish writing, guuuuuuuh.
So in an effort to break writer's block, I'm looking for suggestions.
Just give me a list of themes, or kinks/fetishes, or just ideas.
It can be whatever you want, even stuff I dislike. I'll look at what's popular, and might end up writing a drabble.
Update:
Don't be shy about giving multiple ideas, either. I'm all for lists of stuff.

Ever look at a face you've known forever...
General | Posted 13 years ago... and wonder just when the hell it started looking like that?
Happens to me all the time.
Like, I'll look closely at a friend I've known for years, or someone I've known for months, or even my father, and wonder how the hell I never knew what they looked like. I tend to recognize people by their stance and voice more than anything, so it's not really a problem or anything, it's just really bizarre.
And nothing's more jarring than when you look in the mirror and don't recognize the face looking back.
