Update: Day Job
Posted 5 years agoI work retail, my work has been deemed an essential and we'll be open the entire time with our semi-regular hours 9am to 8pm Mon-Sat. (usual Reg hours - 8:30am to 9pm Mon-Sat and Sundays 9am to 7pm)
Not only that, my coworkers and I will be working longer hours during our usual daily tasks of stocking and cleaning, just we'll be on rotations.
This next two weeks I'll be working Monday through Friday, noon to 9pm. (Normally work 12:30 to 5:30 or 1:15 to 5:30)
Then a couple of my coworkers will be working the next two weeks. Back and forth.
Only way my boss was able to figure out so we all can still work and still have our jobs, but still stay within the recommended requirements of a skeleton crew.
I'm still open for small commissions via found in my journals, just my pace working on them may be slowed some.

Posted 5 years agoBoyfriend just came home 35m ago from the vet. Bell is okay, but recommended changing their bedding to paper or some form of soft mats. All the sneezing and coughs from the dust in their current bedding.

Update on Laptop
Posted 5 years agoSso this 10 yr old dino is officially dead. I can't save it anymore than I already could in the passed two years. The recent thing that went out on it was the wi fi receiver and the port to allow me to connect an Ethernet cable was completely fried. All my posts are via my phone.
I've a lot of open adopts/resells still open! Funds earned from adopts I still have will help go towards a new laptop including what I'll have left from my paydays after bills/groceries.

May be a little scarce here and there till the move is done and over with.
Laptop update - it's old, it's dying. It's an everyday fight to get it to stay on and not eat my work in the process. Refunds being sent out where I can today and next pay.
Edit: Laptop died not even 10m after posting this...
Athena's update - She's doing fantastic. Ate another meal successfully! Will weigh her again after another month of meals. Her scales are no longer dull, her skin isn't as loose when we brought her home and lil gal has half of Pandora's strength.
Also! We still have two amelanistic het anerythristic corn snakes (one male and one female) available for 50$ each plus shipping (82$ to ship). May note me or email us at sklh.snakes[at]gmail.com if interested. Serious inquiries only, please!

Posted 6 years agoWe're safe home again, just been busy last few days cleaning up the back room and the living room. Two windows were busted (second window being the guest sliding door to the balcony). We have no balcony atm too 8'D.
Ripped up some carpet, will replace before we move next month. Landlord issues. Him wanting us to pay 1200 on top of our last month's rent for the damages done by nature. Already getting legal advice and have evidence of other things (we paid out of pocket for) he has refused to fix that falls under his responsibility according to the lease.
Athena has taken her third meal last night!
Also, will be doing sketch commissions from here on out in Krita instead of Sai2. Files keep getting corrupted as I'm working on lining things. It's driving me crazy. So! Tonight, will be sending out a couple of commissions out to their owners. Then tomorrow the rest right after work.
I'll be 25 this upcoming Sunday! Bringing home a new gal (sunglow boa) on that day, we've been waiting to bring home for a couple months or so now. She was just too young at the time for us to do so.
Art related (again) -- possibly be hosting a MYO event for the O'rheni, I'll be creating a base for it.
This is how I am planning it. (Not set in stone)
Aberrant - 2 slots (60$ each)
Demonic or Divine - 6 slots (50$ each)
Common - unlimited (free)
I'll have more figured out before then. Thinking of starting it around Sept 25th and it ends Oct 31st.
Also planning releasing a base for 20$ that'll have a ton of options and species!
Free updates for those that have bought it and for anyone that purchases it after the update(s) will also get the add ons.

Posted 6 years agoEnded up having to evac, supposed huge storm rolling in and may bring tornadoes. All the snakes are at a buddy's of ours where they'll be safe and we've gone down to bf's dad's. So. To be on the safe side, gathered what we could, plus our snakes and their supplies needed. 0x0/
Speaking of the snakes, Athena the ball we rescued took a second meal! Small, but have to work her up steadily where she needs for her proper sized meals later on. She's gained about 10 grams so far. Shown more life and curiosity like no other. She is a total sweetheart. Whenever I or my bf changes her water and bedding, she touches her nose to one of our hands before periscoping to check out what we're doing. We did take her to a vet a few days ago. No other health issues other than she'll never be able to be safely a mama. Having been handled the way she was in her previous handlers care has caused stunting in that department. But the vet has told us it'll cause no issue to her health in the long run.
She's clear of parasites as well which is a major plus!
May be back sooner once the area is deemed clear and safe for us to transport the snakes back home.

Posted 6 years agoAthena has relaxed and figured out the two hides we placed in her temp enclosure are for her. For the first few days she didn't use them. First offer of a meal was Tuesday, but the reaction she gave us made me more pissed off at her previous owners.
She showed fear of her meal, most likely from being fed decaying meals before hand, is my guess...
My boyfriend is going to offer her a meal again tonight when he's off work. Since I'm am now sick with the flu (I mistook the symptoms for a cold..) I can't handle any of our snakes right now. Especially Athena.
I'll post another update once I'm well enough to do so.
