Majestic Pose YCH, Check it Out
Posted 2 years agoGreetings everyone,
A friend of mine is getting into the exciting world of YCH commissions! Their first YCH can be found here:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/53022981/
I really like the light in this! The evening sun with the shadows on the rocks definitely gives this piece some real nice backdrop. And of course, could you imagine of the majesty of YOU in the middle of it.
Go take a look, don't take my word for it. Go look!

New Stories, New Writing
Posted 7 years agoI am not dead, just lurking for the past several years. (Work life has been... Interesting.)
Over the last couple weeks, my desire to write has come back in a significant way. I'm working on a new story but it's a long way off before it's ready for posting. In the mean time I am thinking about releasing some old content that I wrote but never posted.
If I end up deciding to do this, the next several posts will be rough and un-edited. I have no plans to go back and change or continue the projects. The only way I would is through you guys saying it needs to continue. That I'll leave in your hands should it get that far.
My question is though, do you have a preference between:
A) Sequal to Invading Will http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5450868/
B) Remix on the short story series: Mercy http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8195563/ expanded to a novel length.
Up to you.

Future Plans
Posted 11 years agoHello world.
Darn it's been a long time since I posted, but that's alright because I have some news. I've not died or ran away or anything like that. I have been slow on the writing however. That is changing. I am currently working on a NaNoWriMo novel. Once that novel is complete I plan on editing two other novel length stories that I have sitting around. When one of those are finished, I will be posting it here.
That's right, I will be posting new material in the future. Later on I'll go into further depth on each piece of work I'll be displaying, but that will come later when I find more time. For now I have to make sure I stay ahead of my word count, so much to do.

Laid Off. Not fun.
Posted 12 years agoWell, turns out I need to look for a new job now. The landlord wouldn't give my boss a reasonable rate for the building we were in. So he pretty much had to close it all down.
It was a very strange day at work today. -_-

Minecraft- Do know a server?
Posted 12 years agoI'm looking for a server I could join up with. The current one I've been playing on has lost it's luster for me. Would love to find a new one, especially if I sort of know someone on there to play with.
I like redstone, and large projects.
I'm not big on PvP, just don't see the point in a game like Minecraft.
Anyway, let me know.

I now have three novels.
Posted 13 years agoHurray, I completed the first draft of my third novel. At the moment Conquering Will is 55734 words long. A great deal shorter than Invading Will, but you know, I think it's a better story. The next step is to take a break from it while my Beta-reader takes a look at it and tells me all the things I forgot to put in the book and all the things I messed up. It's still quite a ways from being released, but I'll go as fast as possible.
I just feel so darn awesome right now. Three books! Three! Mha ha ha! One happy dragon here! Wheee!

I forget, do I have a Beta Reader here?
Posted 13 years agoSo I've decided that I will post my second novel, Barrier Murder. It's definitely not my best work, but at least it should be something interesting to read while I work on Conquering Will. Before I ship Barrier Murder out to you all though, I wanted someone from here to look it over for me. This book won't have a sequel, and it won't get rewritten because I have much better stuff to work with. But depending on what my beta reader says, it might get a few small changes or updates or whatever.
Anyway, Conquering Will has been stalled the last couple days. I had finals, tests, and projects in my way the last several days. Most of that is over now. I still have one last project and a small test to do, then it's all over. After that I can get back to writing. NaNoWriMo this year was a good thing for me, I had forgotten how wonderful it is to write.
Anyway, you better send me a note quick if you want to beta read for me. If you do well, this might be a permanent position. You'd get to see all the stuff first. Not bad eh? Why are you still reading? Send me a note darn it.

Conquering NaNoWriMo, I won!
Posted 13 years agoI did it again my friends! As of about 5 minutes ago, I hit 50,087 words. That makes me a NaNoWriMo winner this year. That's also my second victory in this little competition. Mha ha ha! Victory is so sweet!
Now, I still need to do a few thousand words to actually finish the darn novel. I will say though, this final conflict at the end of the book is quite the exciting bit of stuff. Darn characters are doing stuff I didn't expect all over the place. Crazy.
Anyway, still a lot of work even after I finish it. I will work as hard as possible to get it nice enough to show all of you. I will keep you informed on my progress.

Conquering Will first draft to be completed early December.
Posted 13 years agoGood news, I will be a winner in NaNoWriMo later this month. I'm at 46,105 right now, and should have no problem getting the rest of it in the next couple days. I'm in the exciting part of the novel right now. Darn these characters are doing stuff I wouldn't have expected.
Anyway, the novel is actually a little larger than 50,000, so it's going to take a little longer to get the first draft done. After that I throw it at my beta reader(s) and rewrite. (Not looking forward to rewriting the whole darn thing.) Once that is finished, I'll start looking at posting it up here. First draft done in early December, but I don't know when the novel will be up. Lots of work yet to do.
To tide you over, would you like to see a terrible novel I wrote two years ago for NaNoWriMo? I don't think I'll rewrite that one. It might be entertaining and full of typos, logic errors, stupid grammatical problems, and just plain silly. Let me know what you think.
Also, any ideas on other places I should post my writing?

Darn this NaNoWriMo isn't easy. Plus, teaser scene.
Posted 13 years agoI'm still working. Right now I'm sitting on 16,014 words. For those of us keeping score (like me) that puts me a little behind. Darn it all. Still though, I'm determined to win somehow this year. I'd love to have a second win.
Anyway, it's been a while, so here's a teaser on what I'm doing. This is a raw copy paste, no editing and whatnot. If it doesn't make sense, too bad. I don't have time to go back and change stuff. Rawr.
==========
Deanna walked through the large stone archway that led into Raogothcar's den. It seemed that the moment she crossed the threshold, she began hearing voices. One was the dragon's, the other was a voice she didn't recognize, but it sounded like another dragon. They had a lower voice than most humans.
She stood in the open entry way before she got into the actual den and closed her eyes. It was hard dealing with Raogothcar sometimes. Now that there were two of them, at the same time. This meeting could be difficult. She didn't know the other dragon, and that alone was a good reason to turn around and talk to Raogothcar another day. Still, spending half the day getting to the dragon's den should not be wasted. It would be early evening by the time she and Matthew returned to Ravenstone.
"I guess we're not the only one with a surprise," Matthew said as he came along side her, "seems he has company. I wonder who she is?"
"I don't care," Deanna said quietly, "and I hope she leaves when we go inside."
"Knowing Raogothcar, she's liable to be there all day long. They sound like they're having a good time."
The two dragons were laughing about something. It was an odd noise, loud and low. Deanna shook her head and walked towards the den. "Just don't let me kill him."
"Yes ma'am."
Deanna reached the den and Raogothcar looked up at her from the central pit in his den. Down below was a green dragoness that she'd not seen before. The two of them were sitting around a large pot of something and Deanna hoped it wasn't any more of the tea.
"Deanna, come on-" Raogothcar saw Matthew enter and his smile widened, "Oh Matthew too. This is great. Matthew, Deanna, this is Caraleth. I met her when I went out to Applegrove for you Deanna. Caraleth, these are those friends I've been telling you about. She's Deanna, and that's Matthew."
"I should have come in my full robes for this." Matthew said as he walked down to the two dragons. "I'm glad to meet you, I haven't seen any of Raogothcar's other friends. Glad he knows how to make them."
Deanna walked down to the group and put her hands on her hips. Her war meeting had been turned into a party, and Matthew just walked right in. With plots wild in the central court, and some sort of magical invasion that he had been warning her about, how they could be so jovial was nearly unexcusible.
"I've heard a lot about you." The dragoness said. If she had been like Raogothcar, her response would have been longer. Already she felt better about being able to control the conversation.
"You have?"
"Oh yes," Raogothcar said, "I told her how we met, and all the exciting things you've done. I told her a bit about druids in general since there aren't any druids where she came from. She's from out west, seems things are very different there. I am going to have to visit sometime, but maybe after we get things here figured out."
"Well, Raogothcar, that's why I came actually. Seems you and I are both working with Deanna on similar projects. Sounds like there is a lot of things going on here in Freeraven lately."
"I know. Did Deanna tell you about the letter?"
"She mentioned it some on the way, but you know she doesn't like to give details. I figured you would tell me everything."
"Oh I can show you the letter. It's very strange actually." Raogothcar stood up and went to his bookshelf and retrieved the letter as he talked, "I'm surprised that King Roland would write anything like this. Actually, I was thinking about this and had this idea that Deanna might like."
Deanna walked towards the group below her, she would have to participate with the group now that Raogothcar mentioned her name. She had watched the dragoness the entire time, and noticed that she didn't seem ready to join the conversation. In fact she seemed almost as if she was shy at the moment. Before they arrived, she was speaking freely and now she seemed content to sit back and listen. That suited Deanna just fine.
Trust was another problem. Raogothcar appeared to trust her already, but Deanna knew better than to put her trust in what the dragon chose. In the past his quick trust had gotten him stung. She thought that he had gotten better in the past months, but now with a thick plot at their feet he seemed to be gushing everything at this new dragoness. A dragoness that he had only met a couple days before. She didn't like it.

1 Novel in 1 Month, Go.
Posted 13 years agoI am participating in NaNoWriMo this month. It's already incredibly difficult since I have work and classes. Now with all this extra work, I'm all but insane. I guess that's half the fun though isn't it? Anyway. At the moment, I've got 3806 words, which puts me a slight bit ahead of schedule for the 50,000 goal.
The story is going to be Conquering Will, the sequel to Invading Will (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5450868/). It's hard trying to remember all the details, and I'm certain that I've messed up quite a few things. Of course, a lot of that first novel is just plain stupid I think, and I might go back and change it later. But not this month, no way. I've got way too much to do.

Legends of Pegasus = Terrible
Posted 13 years agoFirst, Don't buy the game Legends of Pegasus, the game is unplayable, and far too expensive for what they deliver. In addition, don't buy products from Kalyspso, the publisher of Legends of Pegasus, since they have the worst customer service imaginable. Simply a business to steal your money.
If you want more, just comment and I'll give you the laundry list. But be assured, don't waste your money, and don't do anything with that company since they don't want to help you, at all.

Does Anyone Play Minecraft?
Posted 13 years agoSo as a learning experience, I've been setting up a Minecraft server. I was wondering if anyone would like to play with me.
Bear in mind, that this is not a 100% stable server, but so far it seems to be doing alright. Yay learning experience!

If you actually watch me, you'll want to read this journal.
Posted 13 years agoAlright, straight to business. I hate how I have to format the stories I do to work on FA. Just simply drives me crazy. In fact, it's bad enough that I am considering to only post the stories elsewhere. I get more readers and feedback via other locations than I do here.
However, if there's a fair number of people that actually like reading my stuff here, let me know. If you would like to read it elsewhere, I would love to hear where you'd rather see it. This doesn't mean that I'm leaving FA or anything like that, I just don't like their system at all.
So give me some of your thoughts and or feedback. If I don't get anything from here, you'll just not see my stories here.
Thanks for your time my friends! ^^

I am so out of practice
Posted 13 years agoIt's pretty amazing how much you forget when you don't work with things. I could barely remember how to set up Furaffinity's text system. Thank goodness I made notes. The system on here for text based stories is terrible. Simply amazing that it works at all.
I have been half tempted not to post here because of it. The formatting looks pretty poor, and readers don't have any options that I see for viewing the story. Still though, I'll keep posting here as long as I've got readers. Maybe one day the system will get an upgrade. I'm not holding my breath though.
Anyway, I feel pretty god about this little serial novel that I've got going on. There's so much work ahead of me, but I'm looking forward to it. It's essentially a whole world to explore. I figure I'll make a few (tons) mistakes but eh, who cares. I hope to post new chapters on Sundays. That gives me Monday through Friday to write the chapter and then Saturday to edit and format for posting all over the place. If I find I really get into the grove, or if one chapter per week is too easy I'll up the production. Though, at the moment I don't foresee that, work and school is a brutal combination.

Anyone else feel strange posting things?
Posted 13 years agoSo I posted up the first chapter of Mercy a day or so ago. After I clicked that button I felt like I had done something incredibly rash or something. I'll admit that I haven't done a ton of editing on that chapter, or any of the ones coming after it. I know it isn't the worst stuff I've written, but it's not my best either. Eh, whatever. I'm not looking for perfection on this story at all, mostly just looking to tell an interesting story and entertain myself. Still though, it feels strange posting it.
Do you feel the same way posting your stuff? Maybe it's just me or something. I'm not one to normally publicly share much of anything anyway. I'm one of those really private people, oh well. Anyway, I was just wondering.

What to do? Gotta get some writing advice.
Posted 13 years agoTo put the issue simply, I need some advice. I have two problems with my writing, and I'm looking for help to solve them both. If you have any ideas, or are willing to help me out, let me know.
The first issue is that I have far too many ideas that I'd love to get down on paper. I have whole worlds that develop in my mind, that I want dearly to share with everyone out there. What do I pick to share? Out of all the thousands of stories that could be told, how do you pick one or two to write on?
Secondly, is to get myself darn motivated enough to make a dent in all of the stuff I have above. I've been writing off and on for the last few months, but it's been off and on at best. Then since I have my writing all unfocused, I have made little progress on anything.
Please what do I do to fix all this? Do I get some sort of beta-reader that keep bothering me all the time? Do I just keep going as I am and hope to finish? Do I scrap it all and just start a brand new project? I am willing to entertain any ideas given to me, because I'm pretty much clueless how to approach all this.
Thanks.

Invading Will Delay, Darn it all.
Posted 14 years agoHi there everyone. I'm sorry that Invading Will hasn't been updated like usual. I've been having some technical difficulties with the final stages of the presentation. I'll have this out as soon as I can for you though. That I do promise.
Thanks for the patience though, I appreciate it.

Writing is hard.
Posted 14 years agoThere are times when I'll sit down at the computer and just stare at the screen. I have these ideas on stories that I want to write, but the darn little pieces just bog me all down. Right now I've hit that point on all three stories that I'm working on. I don't know about you, but I darn well find this frustrating. I sit there trying to make the dialoge work, try to make the scene make sense, try to remember just what the characters were thinking. It all becomes a fuzzy haze though.
Granted, I've been sick the last week. The week before work decided it hated my guts. Week before that... I don't even remember. But it's been weeks since I last had a good sit down and write. I figure at this rate, I'm not going to have anything exciting to post for everyone to read after Invading Will is finished. I hope you stay with me though, it's just going to take a while before I have anything else interesting.
Anyway, does anyone have any sort of instant "Write like crazy!" pills or something I can borrow? Blarg.

Invading Will Book Cover Thoughts
Posted 14 years agoWell, the novel Invading Will is going to be ending probably early next month. I really appreciate all the people that have been reading along with me. It means a lot to me that you enjoy the story that much. I know it's not perfect, but what piece of writing is?
Well, it's time for me to reveal my surprise regarding the book. I plan on releasing it on my website as an e-book in the near future. That's great isn't it? But there is one small problem with the book so far. It doesn't have a cover. I need to fix that, so I've been saving up for several weeks now for a commission for the book.
Who would you recommend that can do a good book cover for me? I have $35 that I can spend on this little venture. It isn't a whole lot, and I know it won't land me anything that's going to be professionally done, I just don't have that money. Though I am willing to take donations to help with the cost of a commission.
The next hurtle to cross on this adventure is what scene should I have done for the cover? There are quite a few scenes that I've had in mind for a while, but I've been wondering what favorites my readers have. My personal picks are the fight at the bridge, Raogothcar at the banquet, or perhaps the balcony scene after the mob in Freeraven.
Send me a note if you have a scene recommendation for the cover. Or, if you want to donate to help "cover" the cost, send me a note as well. (Ha, get the pun?... Yeah... >.> ) I'm looking forward to your thoughts.

People are strange you know?
Posted 14 years agoDoes anyone else find it incredibly odd that my first chapter of Invading Will has had a total view count of 13, while chapter 17 has had something like 79 hits? Either people don't care about reading the first parts of stories, or they just don't care to read. People are so weird. Maybe they don't know how to read? Hmm...
On your mark, get set... GO!!!
Posted 14 years agoAlright everyone, I've hit the ground typing! August 1st is here (well gone now, but who's counting?) and I've started working on my Camp NaNoWriMo project. I will be keeping my progress open just for the fun of it. You can follow me here: http://dchenry.wordpress.com/nanowr.....s-report-page/ This has my current rough word count, as well as the whole darn story just how I've written it.
It is a little rough though, but that's part of the danger of this amazing activity. Check it out, cheer me on, even share this amazing journey with a friend! I'll try to update that page every day as I write. So check back often. Otherwise I'll try posting a note once a week until I either win or lose to remind you of my progress.
Anyway, go in there and read! I'm like giving you a free book or something.
P.S. This shouldn't interfere with the posting of Invading Will. I might be a little late getting the next chapter up, so sorry about that.

NaNoWriMo in August? What?
Posted 14 years agoI don't get out very much. When
poetigress made a journal post about it, I had to investigate. This was my first mistake.
My second mistake was signing up for it. I've already got an idea of what I'm going to write. It's going to be science fiction, though predominately not of a furry persuasion.
I plan on having it posted on my website, most likely in a daily progress report. I'm not sure if I am going to post it here though. Would you guys like to see this thing as it develops? I'll guarantee you that the quality is going to be lower than my normal work. If you could see last year's NaNoWriMo winner, you would know I'm not kidding about that.
Right now I'm planning a science fiction story called, "Imperium Rising". It's a very old idea that several friends and I came up with for a video game ages before. The idea grew and developed over the years and has remade itself into a sort of story.
Anyway, that's what I'm doing. If you want to follow my progress you might want to book mark my website: https://dchenry.wordpress.com/ I'll probably start posting the story on either Monday or Tuesday.
Oh I am so not ready for this. >.> Total burn out, here we come.

Nice guys STILL finish last
Posted 14 years ago♥To every guy that said, "Sex can wait"
♥To every guy that said, "You're beautiful"
♥To every guy that was never too busy to drive across town to see her
♥To every guy that gives her flowers and a card when she is sick or down.
♥To every guy who has given her flowers just because thats how he rolls
♥To every guy that said he would die for her.
♥To every guy that really would.
♥To every guy that did what she wanted to die for
♥To every guy that cried in front of her...
♥To every guy that she cried in front of...
♥To every guy that holds hands with her.
♥To every guy that kisses her with meaning..
♥To every guy that hugs her when she's sad.
♥To every guy that hugs her for no reason at all.
♥To every guy who would give their jacket up for her.
♥To every guy that calls to make sure she got home safe.
♥To every guy that would sit and wait for her for hours just to see her for ten minutes
♥To every guy that would give his seat up...
♥To every guy that just wants to cuddle.
♥To every guy that reassured her that she was beautiful no matter what.
♥To every guy who told his secrets to her.
♥To every guy that showed how much he cared through every word and every breath.
♥To every guy that thought maybe this could be the one.
♥To every guy that believed in her dreams.
♥To every guy that would have done anything so she could achieve them
♥To every guy that never laughed at her when she told him her dreams.
♥To every guy that walked her to her car and opened the door
♥To every guy that gave his heart.
♥To every guy who prays that she is happy even if you are not with her.
Not many girls appreciate nice guys anymore...and because of this, there are not many left out there. I guarantee 90% of the men on your page will not repost this because they care more about their image. If you are a nice guy repost this with: "Nice guys STILL finish last." If your a Female, Repost this with "To Every guy."
I almost never do this, but hey, might as well. And yes, I don't care about my image. And for the fun of it, 90% of this describes me too. I'm still in the race, but pretty sure I'll finish last.

Commission Open
Posted 14 years agoThat is right, commissions are open. If you have a story idea you want to see written, but don't have the time, let's talk. If you have an RP session that you want to see in story format, let's sit down for a while. If you have this piece of art that you want to see turned into a story, let's go.
First off, I'm going to start commissions out at $3 per page of text. I usually do pretty good at filling up pages, and I won't charge the full $3 on a sliver of a page either. Don't worry, I try to be fair. Once you decide to commission me, we'll come up with a basic sketch of what the story is going to be like, and how long it's going to be. I accept Paypal, dchenry06[at]hotmail[dot]com.
At that point I'll give you an estimate on the price. I won't begin work on the story until I have 50% down. Then I'll write the story and some editing. I'll then send you key pieces of the story to demonstrate completion. After the last half of the commission price is paid (or remaining balance assuming my estimations are wrong) then I'll deliver the final story.
You will have a chance to read over the story and make some suggestions and comments on it before I close the book on the story. This means if there is something wrong with the description or something someone said, I'm willing to make a few changes. I am not going to rewrite the entire thing from the ground up because you don't like the story once it's finished. But feel free to let me know when I've made a mistake somewhere.
I will not do sexually explicit scenes. I will also not do excessive violence either. There are places for both of those in writing, but I have my limits. If you're not sure, go ahead and ask, I don't mind talking to you about a story idea at all. Better yet, I won't even charge for talking about it. ^^
In all of these commissions I will retain the right to republish at any time. Also, if this commission is to be used for any sort of profit, I will retain my rights for royalties, depending upon how the commission is actually being used. Also, any post by the user must include the tag that the story was written by me.
With all that mumbo-jumbo out of the way, send me a note! I want to write some of your ideas. Come on, stop reading and talk to me already! We've got work to do!
