OKAY SO, this might be the fattest gift hunt request ever but me and my husband love the Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes but they discontinued them in Canada. I went to the States and went to like 8 different grocery stores to find them and they were all out of stock. I think there is some conspiracy theory or someone hoarding all these damn snack cakes but my husband was hella bummed out about not getting these cakes and so am I. I kind of want to find them and surprise him with them for Christmas. As lame as that sounds these damn christmas tree cakes would totally make his Christmas morning lol

Hey everyone! I have returned home and have returned to work :3
I came home from my two week vacation on the 10th, I used the 11th to unpack and run some christmas errands since I have two weeks to prepare for Christmas (AHHHH) and I have been back to work today! It feels good to be back drawing as I miss creating, its a big part of me and while having a list of commissions can be stressful, I do love what I do and really enjoy the ability to be creative and have this outlet. I feel a little rusty today though and the commission I did today took much longer then it usually does, but I hope to be back into the swing of things after I knock out some of my smaller orders as sort of a warm up back into my more detailed commissions.

Unfortunately I have also caught a cold which may be playing a part in my struggle, we took covid tests and were luckily negative but I'm still feeling pretty icky. I think its one of those sinus colds where theres so much pressure it feels like your head is going to explode. :P I hope it passes soon cause I just have so many things to do with the holidays coming up and working!

As for my trip, I have learned that 14 days is entirely too long and I just dont enjoy being social that many days consecutively lmao. Despite the fact I didnt plan this trip, I think in the future 1 week to 10 days is the most I'll agree too lol. I did enjoy myself for the most part and was really glad to see Nicks family and spend time with them. We are very fortunate and I am grateful I was able to take this time to visit family and experience life outside my home! But I am happy to be back with my puppies and my bed and my routine with drawing! :3

Just wanted to update yall! This is going to be a slow week for me work wise as I have a lot of things on my plate.
1.Monday I had a funeral and lunch in to go to. My friends mom passed away so I wanted to be there to support her, the entire event took about 4 hours but I stayed longer so that I could help pack up food and clean up.
2. Yesterday I had a hair appointment in the morning and then I worked on commissions for a few hours afterwards
3. Today I am working on commissions, I've already worked for 5 hours today and finished an order, but I'm going to take a bit of a break after this journal before I get back to it!
4. Tomorrow is my husbands day off, he has to work on my birthday (the 30th) so we are spending the day together to celebrate.
5. The 30th is my actual birthday and I'm spending it with my family! We have plans all day and I'm super excited.

SO I do apologize, I really only have been able to work on commissions for 2 days this week. I plan on working on Saturday since this week has been so busy and I feel guilty for taking so many days off.
However, the break has been nice and I think it was needed, I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed with my todo list so I've been working so much and I think I've burnt myself out a little bit so I think this will be a nice reset for me.

I appreciate all your patience! I know I havn't posted much in the past two weeks but I have been working and do have a lot in the works. Two I havnt posted yet as I'm still waiting to hear back from my clients if they are happy with the final product! & I currently have 3 orders I'm working on, all at various levels of completion.

I am unfortunately negative $644.87 after a forced charge back on a commission ordered 10 days prior.

I don't typically talk poorly about clients, but this situation has been very confusing and frustrating and has left me negative in my account and a hold on other funds I had in the process of being transferred.
Essentially a client ordered a piece, then 10 days later I opened up my paypal to find that the transaction had a force refund, I was -$644.87 in my account and the money I sent to my bank the day before now changed its arrival time from a few days to two weeks, essentially putting a temporary hold on my transfer, which included money from other commissions and sales that I no longer could access.

I contacted the client to ask if this was a mistake or if they wanted a refund, they claimed their bank filed this refund as the bank thought it was a fraudulent charge. I found it a bit strange that a bank would force a refund from a purchase made 10 days prior without contacting their client, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt to fix the situation. They said that the bank required them to email them proof of identity and purchase and then they would reauthorize the transaction. After a couple days I asked them if they heard back from the bank yet and they said no and that they were told to check back Saturday. When Saturday came, I asked if they had checked with the bank and they said no and that if they dont hear anything by Monday to just issue them a refund. I found it incredibly frustrating that they were not willing to call their bank and check in on the situation while knowing my account is in the negative and there was a hold on my other transactions. Over-all I just haven't heard of a bank taking 4 days to confirm an identity, and I just found it incredibly odd that they would even do a forced charge back on a payment made 10 days prior without consent or contacting their client. Lastly, the client made a comment that their bank "Always does this with paypal" which makes me think this happens often with other artists. I was starting to suspect that this may of been an scheme to get a refund without being the "bad guy" and asking for a refund.

If everything went down the way they claimed then its just a very misfortunate situation, and I apologize if I am being cynical however, if this was just an elaborate rue to get a refund without having to confront the artist then I hope they realize how badly this messes with artists finances. My TOS states I will refund clients in full if they ask for a refund prior to me starting their commission, as stressful as it may be on my part I have never denied someone a refund, I just ask they give me a couple days to replace their commission. In cases like this where it is a forced refund that puts a hold on the rest of my finances for two weeks it just makes a normal situation so much more difficult. Not only am I negative in my account but I am now past due on bills because my money transfer was extended by two weeks when it was only suppose to take 3 days. @_@ It's just... UGH. Rgardless if this was intentional or a misfortunate situation, I'm frustrated and just needed to vent.

I'm also curious if other people find this situation odd, or if it is even possible for a bank to do a force refund through paypal without the consent of their client on a purchase made nearly two weeks prior? If that even possible? lol When I spoke to paypal they said that a forced refund requires a form to be filled out so it is hardly ever "accidental"

With that being said, I am open for two commission slots to make up for this negative balance.

My stupid Twitter is being weird, I was logged in and tried to post something and then it said there was an error to post and try again, so when I refreshed the page it logged me out. Now everytime I try to log into Twitter, it automatically logs me out and brings me back to the homepage as if I wasn't signed into my account. I tried clearing my cookies and cache, but I'm so confused. lol

I'm behind on my work because my mother in law decided to do a last minute surprise visit.
I absolutely love my Mother in law and she is so fun to be around and we always have a great time, but she has this bad habit of just showing up to surprise us with visits. She knows I'm self employed and make my own schedule so she is like "It's okay Nick (my husband) your wife can entertain me while you're working!" I've tried to politely explain that if she gave us more notice on her visits we could actually plan things out better but then she just says "Oh I dont want to be an inconvenience" but like... her giving us barely any notice is so much harder on us lol.
My husband is her only child and we moved to another country and so I never want her to feel like she isnt welcomed and we do enjoy having her, its just so frustrating to unexpectedly take a week off work. She comes from money so its like she doesn't understand that I dont have savings and stuff to fall back on and missing a week of work costs me a lot x.x
I really am not trying to complain about her because she is a sweet women and she is easy to entertain, but she ALWAYS surprises us, she never plans anything with us and me and Nick are very much plan oriented.
I do apologize that I wasnt able to work this week, I had a lot planned to do but it was all pushed back. She flys home Friday (tomorrow) so I'll be back to work Saturday. @w@

I am having an emotional night because tomorrow is my husky puppy, Timbers 6th birthday, which seems like a silly thing to be emotional about but if any of you have followed Timbers journey at all you know we have had a lot of bad days but a lot of good ones too. I honestly didn't think he was going to make it to his 3rd birthday, and I remember before I moved back to Canada in 2021 I prayed he would at least make it to Canada to see it, and here we are in 2023 and he's still kicking. This dog is so resiliant and so happy no matter what and is just geniunely the sweetest and bestest dog.

For those curious, Timber is severely epileptic and has been refractory to medication, we have good months and bad months and many times through the years I thought I was going to lose him to this disease. I still know that day will come eventually but tomorrow is his 6th birthday and I want to celebrate this milestone! That being said I made an icon YCH and whatever I make from this YCH will be used to spoil my boy tomorrow at the petstore and let him pick out all the toys and treats his heart desires!
