current thoughts about future adopts and customs
General | Posted 4 years agoFirst of all, many thanks to everyone who left feedback!
The main idea is to add more variability, but organized, with price tiers.
I really liked the idea of selling linearts! This is a good way to let you design your character the way you want!
There will be several different options for different prices. You can only buy the body lineart, if you want to create your own outfit for the character. Or buy an extended version, with a standard outfit (I'll try to copy the canon costumes from the game, so they were the most suitable for everyone). Additional back view, back view in outfit. Maybe a headshot? The main reason, that you don’t have to pay more, if you don’t need extra!
This will be the cheapest price tier (still not sure about the price tho)
The next price tier will be adopts and customs on base. Very similar to what I did recently, but now only the body will be the base, the costumes will be simple, but unique for each design. This will allow more variety, and add different body shapes. I will also allow you to order custom designs on these bases!
Surely, they will be cheaper than what I am doing now for 150$. But only simpler designs, no extras. Both adopts and customs will cost 80$.
And I will still have the most unique designs and customs with details and shading, which will only be available at auctions (сustom will still cost 150$)
I would also very much like to try to make not only mass effect adopts in future. Maybe random aliens and other anthro. Just to see if you like them.
I actually really love to design different aliens!
That's all for now!
I'd love to hear your thoughts, if you want to share them!
If not, then I'm just very grateful for your attention!
Sorry for possible mistakes! I do not speak English perfectly

problems with adops on base [looking for advice]
General | Posted 4 years agoActually I think a lot about what to do with this idea x_x
I love that I can make them quickly right now, but there is a problem that I don't have a lot of variability in these designs.
I see what combinations of clothes and colors customers prefer to buy. But if I use any of these elements or combinations, it looks too similar and I don't like it.
Also, even if I can make them very quickly, I get much less paymant than usual, plus PayPal takes fees from each adopt (many thanks to everyone who pays for them!). So I have to do a lot of such designs in several packs to collect the amounts I need. Maybe someone will say that I am greedy, but I still have to pay rent and buy food.
So now I have choice to make many packs of cheap adopts, which will be similar enough.
Or leave the base only for the body and draw a new outfit every time. It will also allow me to change bodyshape sometimes. This will also allow me to make bases for other species faster, because I don't have to draw a lot of clothes at once.
I think it sounds good, but it will take more time for each design. And it also won't be that much faster than my regular designs, so it sounds like it won't be so profitable for me to make them instead of auctions.
But I see that many people like adopts on base and I perfectly understand that it is more convenient for people to buy cheaper designs. And I really want to give you this opportunity!
But right now it's very difficult for me to understand how to do it better :<
I know myself, I can't do "simple" outfits everytime. I will add details for variety and over time these designs will not differ from expensive ones. So I don't know if after that my regular auctions will still be needed by someone. And it is very scary, because at the moment this is my only income. Digital art is my only job and adopts make up most of the payment.
So please, if you've read all of this, I would really appreciate your advice!
Should I make base-adopts more complex with different outfits but at a great price? At what price would you like to buy them?
Or is it better to leave it as it is now, with similar designs for 60$? Maybe just do it the old way, with original designs at auctions?
I also considered the possibility of making cheaper custom designs on base. But then again, I don't know the price.
Thanks for everyone who leaves a review! I really need this!
I moved from my parents not so long ago to another city and this is not the easiest time
