Posted 14 years agoAs I writhe in project due dates I am playing Kaiketsu Zorori againand it's just the cutest anime I've ever watched and I love it more than anything x3!! In ways it reminds me of spongebob when there is some hidden humor that kids don't always get x3. If you like anime and furries I'd suggest it!

Posted 14 years agoI wrote a lot but then I accidentally refreshed the page, now I'm too lazy to elaborate as much. These are some cool artists I've been finding now and are great examples of people who take quality over quantity. ALSO I'm still really busy with school, my major can be demanding and although it's only my first year, some of the fundamental art classes are more time-consuming than they are difficult.

why no, I can't go to cons now
Posted 14 years agoI know I'm missing out and I would really like to but I really don't have any of the resources or time for it yet :/ I don't even have a car/driver's license! I can go to anime cons because it is easier to find people I trust (or used to trust) to go with. It's also easier to explain to my parents, they don't know anything about this kind of stuff and I prefer to keep it that way. I also really don't have money, I have a job but all of this is going to an investment plan and my tuition for the year. I thought maybe I'd get a change to go to furfright this year but I don't know anyone and I really wasn't prepared ^^;

Posted 14 years agohey ya, Letting you know that I do check FA probably every day. College is making me very active in various corners of art that I've never reached yet.
IF you lovely people follow my twitter you might have heard about the lovely aluminum foil project I worked on. Basically get a box, crumple the foil, place that in the box with the shiny side up and draw every line possible. What I got probably took somewhere like 10-17 hours, I wasn't counting but the entire weekend was me in the art studio that's in my floor.
I got an on-campus job AS A FRESHMAN for Graphic Design.
Rebuilt my computer basically from the ground up, last part is coming in tomorrow where I'll copy my drive over. I'm still selling 2010 parts like motherboards, 8GB DDR2 RAM and a 400w power supply. If you are interested, feel free to ask but if you need me to ship this out far then I'm going to charge for shipping (sorry ^^;)
Bought at least $150 worth in art supplies and its making me cry a little..
Dealing with external drama that somehow managed to drag it's self to college now. it's really messing with my good mood and schedule.
Disliking Cultural Anthropology... it's a boring class but on top of that the homework is a set of quizzes with questions I would have to find out by reading the text book after the 3 hour lecture of how people in 3rd world countries use feces in their daily lives or whatever...
My drawing teacher is a magical asian sensei who can guess what I say before I open my mouth, he performs tai chi on our classmates, tells amazing stories and knows how to teach. I've had a lot of good teachers in my life but unfortunately none of them can hold a candle to this guy o3o
As a final note, Commissions are on hold till things lighten up. I am also drawing naked people tomorrow which is really awkward but oh well... I have to embrace my mind for the 90 year old people! I'll update again soon, sorry if I seem to go into hiatus every time I draw something, it's mostly coincidental ^^;

College Begins~

ANYWAYS this is making me very busy so far as it is the first week and I expect it will only get harder from here unfortunately. I need some sort of way that I can force myself to sleep fewer hours... for the sake of not waking up at 10 or not being able to stay up till 3am every night.
I'll be doing a lot of not furry art probably until I can find a way to fit it on my free time D:

College Tuition
Posted 14 years agoFor RIT, its expensive. I've been told many times over that it's worth every penny but it's expensive. I wouldn't be worrying about tuition however if it weren't for a certain rich uncle.
My Uncle OWNS an accounting firm and lives in a mansion. He fits about everything there is when people think of a rich class man. He has always been kind to everyone in his family tree except my mother who is his only sister. My parents cannot co-sign because my dad is a failure of life and between him and my mom they had a bankruptcy a few years ago. For co-signing loans my uncle is my only real option who could even take the blow if (I died or something) and mainly consider it pocket change.
I called him on the phone and the only reason he stated as to why he would not cosign is because he is holding a grudge on my mother. None of which has to do with me, he doesn't doubt my potential but he believes that if my mom had done a few things differently we would not have to ask him for money anyways.
WHATEVER! So now I have to spend ALL of my 4.5k savings on the first year of tuition and Still need 1.5k to finish the year! This means I have to somehow get an on-campus job (which is extremely hard to get as a freshman) or gain money on my own. That being Art Commissions and putting more promotion into my mobile DJ Business. So yeah, its hard and I'm stressed now because of all this. This is also why I am open for commissions now and why the prices went up a bit more. I can do art commissions and make them my top priority to make a commissioner happy. I can't say I can finish an artwork in a day because my natural pace is slower than that.
I'm not really asking for charity but I'm trying to get help and answers. I don't really know what ways I can advertise my DJ Business but if you guys know that would be nice to comment ^^: I'm also not a believer in luck because luck will not save me here and that is that...
$10 - Simple Digital Sketch +$6 per additional character
$15 - Colored Sketch +7 per additional character
$25 - Flat Digital Color with Line Art +$11 per additional character

Summer Jobs, Making Cosplays & Graduation
Posted 14 years agoI feel bad that with art I keep dropping into a kind of hiatus I really don't know what's up with that but life seems to get really busy all the time and it at least feels hard to make any progress in that time. I have my summer job again at an amusement park which is a very annoying, paranoia-inducing and inconvenient job. I always fear that someone is going to fall off a ride or something because they are an idiot or I forget to do something important. The best part is that it's minimum wage but I guess its better than nothing!
I designed my own cosplay a week or so ago and I'm going to give an effort to build it, if you can guess what it is I'll upload the design for you guys to see. I'll give one hint though, It's a Pokemon. Shouldn't be too hard!
I graduated 2 days ago and I am finally a free pup! I really can't wait to go to college and get into the new lifestyle, productivity mindset and just the overall atmosphere of AWESOME THINGS HAPPENING. I have a grad party this weekend where I'll DJ my own party and give all the guests glow sticks as we rave it out x3
In terms of art, I don't even know. I'm just so slow at doing anything that it pretty much demotivates me from jumping into art, I feel horrible that I've broken some promises but I just have a hard time controlling my perfectionism and anxiety. I basically draw when it's needed and I don't consider my own artistic wants as a need like a commission or art project would. I enjoy drawing things well and making art as a finished product but everything in-between for me is still really messy. I still have anatomy and proportional problems and I can hardly ever draw something without referencing a pose instead of making my own one up. Out of this though, the biggest thing that bothers me is that it takes FOREVER for me to draw something, I mean hours sometimes a week of fitting it in my day which is unnecessary. I don't know why I'm slow maybe I'm just not that much of a pro yet. I also don't know what will kick me out of the art block again. It's a motivational or anxiety issue I know for sure but it attacks me subconsciously all the time. There has to be some sort of fix for this.

Last Week of High School EVER
Posted 14 years agoI have horrible patience so this is an experience of another world. PLUS money is trickling from savings so I can buy my college MacBook Pro... YES A Mac and it is unnecessarily expensive as shit! XD BUT WHO CARES I gots savings and I need the best for my career honestly so this is more of an investment than anything.
Speaking of investing time, I'm trying to make sketching and art a daily habit and I'm doing that with some random poses by posemaniac... I am going to try taking a drawing/painting class at a local art gallery. I could really use a lot of training on fundamentals including figures and anatomy so this is great!
I pretty much hated high school because of the kids being douchy and irresponsible/disrespectful, The administration for having giant poles up their ass and how shallow the class courses actually went to for things like video production, art etc. I'm ready and eager for a much larger sandbox! I know work will be a lot more but who cares! I want to make progress. For example we had to TELL the administration what our senior prank was or we'd all actually be handled like criminals, arrested and not walk the stage for graduation. The administration also made me take down a Family-Safe youtube video because the principal basically didn't like it and of course that gives her the right of over-riding my free speech. So my own little gift is re uploading the video after I walk the stage, what are they gonna do? come to my house and take my diploma away? I think not!
Also.. trying to manage meds for ADD and Anxiety... But all of this stuff happening at once will be sorted as time continues.
Part-time job so I get money. Going to Otakon 2011. Going to RIT. All of these big events in my life always seem to be almost there but still waiting, as if in suspense and it's really strange to deal with.

kinda slipping into another hiatus
Posted 14 years agoThe thing is that I'm still going between different ADD treatment medications and the past two haven't helped me at all, I have a feeling this one might do a little more since its also used for other treatments but it also apparently takes a week or two to kick in. in this time I'm still kinda crunching down on school and it's all very non-artistic. I'm feeling comfortable being able to play games in my free time rather than spaz aimlessly on an artistic concept I can't really concentrate to develop on. I will be trying over time to get some of these things done, I know this is probably really dumb since it's at least the second or third time I've dropped into a bit of a hiatus, but at least when I come back I hope to stay for a good while in art. I know in college this up-coming school year (RIT for those who don't know) I will have to be working on art all the time, going through fundamentals and more so it should both be fun and great for my experience.
I already feel real bad that I am letting people down or feeling that I have broken promises but I'm hoping that taking this time to let medications adjust or get schoolwork taken care of first will pay off in both my own emotional shape and hopefully an artistic benefit.

Posted 14 years agoThe amount of times I go in-between good art days and bad days is ridiculous. I'm absolutely on a roll sunday and I lose it all week long. I have NO IDEA what triggers bad and good but it feels so out of my grasp all I do is become insanely frustrated. how the hell am I supposed to control this sort of thing? I feel like it's never going to actually click and stay.
Trying a New Style, Bonus for Headshots, ADD Updates
Posted 14 years agoI'm working on headshots slowly, I'm pretty much through with the species I wanted to get, I've finished taking head-shots and sketch participants. I stopped taking them a little earlier than I predicted because I want to try and scan the ones I do have and test them with the new style. Lucky for you guys if I can still get to your refs I'll try to color them as well.
This week was really bad in terms of ADD and anxiety. Every day I was at home by myself and literally just sitting in my room all day. You'd think that it'd be great since my art desk and computer is right there but it was strongly counter-productive because my loneliness quickly grew into stress and anxiety. It's not like I don't have friends but they were all constantly busy.
I've bought a book recently "Mastering Creative Anxiety" and that has actually been reducing my stress and making me feel more confident about art now. I want to read and remember this book now because it was more relevant to me than I really thought! I also bought "The Monster Book of Manga: Boys" which although only has a little bit of new information to me (I wonder if I can return it because of that?)
Today, I figured I'd try a style I've seen here and there, the biggest push was the Boy's book I bought the other day. I don't want to really change things like the eyes or general anatomy I've regularly used because I actually like it. I might decide to draw characters with a more mature visage instead of herp derp manga. I want to try this more to see where I go with it, hence the headshots.
By the way, yes the new style probably looks like some others. The fact is my old one was probably like others' too. I am influenced by lots of sources and that's life. I just don't want to get some sort of hate rant or something because my art would now look different or similar to something else. I grow and learn, when I feel things need to change it's a part of progression!
