We took them in to nurse them back to health and I set up a little cam on them to keep tabs when we are away. Come check them out on the stream. General | Posted 12 years agoI know I have not been uploading past events on FA but I am going to try to start really managing and keeping up on things... Here is the photos from the EFM meet as promised. I plan to incorporate these into our site as a side site for furry portrait and event photography. You will NOT be able to get to it from our home page as we keep that clean and professional for schools and other customers... BUT... I do plan on making this simple by the link hopefully ending up something like quantumfoxphoto.com/furry but as of right now it is 1:36am and I have a photo op early with the Kiara.

The Old and New, the Good and Bad.
General | Posted 12 years agoSoo, after getting a few things together and learning some tips and tricks at AC my head is BUZZING with ideas.... I have bought an airbrush and will start practicing my techniques tomorrow. I have a sewing machine to finally speed up things instead of hand sewing everything, and I now know how to more or less properly make partials.
What does this all mean you ask????
Well, I will be in the next couple weeks opening myself up for commissions!!!!!!!!!!!!! \o/
For now I will be doing:
~Tails
~Ears
~Hand-paws
~Feet-paws (maybe not right away on that one as I feel I have a little more to master)
Commissions will only be one or two at a time to start off till I can see what and who bites... and how often.
I will also be making random tails, ears, and hand-paws sets to put up for auction/sale. (I feel this will help me practice without fear of messing up specific details)
I have a name for my building site in mind but I am open for any suggestions you may have as a name...
Anyway, details regarding pricing and such will be coming soon
In other news, AC was great. I learned some VERY important things about Akiro the suit when dealing with long term wear. He is a brick for one... Only thing that broke was a tiny little circle to make my eye look like it has a light reflection. Other than that he survived the wear and tear... EVEN A FEW HEADSTANDS!!
However.....
I did find that overheating was a VERY big problem with the long term wear. He is just too heavy with glue and materials that airflow is a worry. He also lacks expression from what I noticed in various pictures. His jaw needs to be looked into the be more flexible. His weight distribution needs to be brought back as to not rest on my nose (ouch) and his paws/feetpaws need a revamp. These are picky things, nothing too major at least (I hope) but will most likely put him out of commission here and there.
In my final news.... I will be at the same time working on a second fursuit.
This one will be a fennic I have decided. I am a wolf at heart but I want something to look a little more real and still keep it's cuteness. Nothing is better than a fennic! You can make them a little more real looking and yet keep the cute factor still in play because of those big fun to play with ears!
I am bouncing on the idea of using a resin base but I really need to think it over. My new character will be red black and grey as it stands. Right now I am in the designing part and also need a name for him.
If you are worried... NO, he will NOT be replacing Akiro. This is something I want to do so I have the ability to play with Akiro more and not be fearful of taking something apart and ruining a good thing.
ONE last thing..... I tried a new approach to Akiro's squeaker at AC and I am VERY pleased with the results... My fennic will be "smaller" and need something a little different pitch wise to show it's fen fen personality, so... I am going to try a different approach to him. This will be a secret and I hope it works.

General | Posted 13 years agoI am going to beat the Mexican crew that keeps coming out at 7am-10am and doing the leaves for our neighbor... STOP PUTTING YOUR DAMN BLOWER RIGHT ON MY WINDOW!!!!! I want to sleep its my one day to sleep in a little.... that is all.
Halloween
General | Posted 13 years agoSoo not liking kids on Halloween.... some kid pulled my tail and asked what would I do if he ripped it off... then another called me a stupid skunk..... others were just being obnoxious. Other than that going out with Kiara and my younger brothers was fun. The other adults LOVED the suit. In other news I redid the feet paws and made sandals for them (need to rethink the concept as they broke while walking around) and the eyes I can now see 70% better at night (just need to make the final version as they were held with tape for tonight to test it.)

~ Furring the feet paw/s
~ Making legs with the fur Plus add elastic band to thighs
~ Add a little neck cover of fur to the back of head.
~ Install fan and teeth to the muzzle
~ Figure out this tail... Which I have NO clue what I am to do with it (Scared to start it)

The First four will take me one day devoting to it. I am looking to get them done on Sunday. The tail I am hoping to finish by Thursday and need to finish it for Saturdays PA Renaissance Faire with EasternFurMeets. I did not think this was going to be this involved >.< and with late start now with honmework/school/work I am REALLY losing ground on this project. Only going to do the partial for now and I am hoping to get the full done for beginning days of October, but the partial is a good start. Anyway, at work right now and will haul furry behind, when I get home, on this project. Maybe if I get my homework/studies done tonight or tomorrow night at work, I can bring the fursuit legs/tail with me to work on Sunday. :P No sleep for me.GRRrrrrrr
General | Posted 13 years agoCalled up the place I ordered fur from after a week of not hearing if it was shipped. The apparently had some trouble and then magically said it will be shipped that day (I think they forgot the order).... NOW it has been another week and I was curious of the package location. I called them up and got the tracking number. When I put it into UPS it had that it was scanned 4 days ago, but nothing after that. I got curious and called UPS up... apparently they don't know where the package is and is starting an investigation ticket. They said it will take week or so to investigate and then take longer because at that point they will contact the shipper and myself to figure out things. SOOOO my suit I WANTED to have done like last week will now take god knows how long! I am soooooo pissed and depressed at this because once school starts I will have NO time to work on it. Way to go UPS :P~~UPDATE~~
Yay my fur just showed up today, THEY FOUND IT. *Does happy dance* Big, big box too... all squished, but hey!...Not like it is fragile lol.

General | Posted 13 years agoAbsolutely loved the convention. Had a good time meeting some new furs and hanging out with some I already knew. It was good for a first con to go to. Kiara even got her ears and paws done for her leopard, using the same fur she used on her tail =^.^= . Bought more artwork than I probably could afford, and Kiara even got one of the little dragon egg thingies you register and such.... Sorry if I am vague, my brain is fuzzy as we got back at 3am and I had work early this morning. Thank you though for everyone who went, you made it a fun time. MOAR SLEEPY ICONS RAFFLE!!!!!!

General | Posted 13 years ago Well that had to be the most hilarious two hours of my life. Fiance was wrapping my up in duct tape making a dummy to do measurements for the suit. When fully wrapped you are like a skinny concrete pillar.... well she bends over to pick up scissors and bumps me. Just like a tree falling in the woods I had NO control over staying upright and fell just like the tree would... WHAM!!!getting up was fun too mind you... try lifting a 150 lb plank of wood ^_^ Sleepy Icons
