Posted 5 years ago2020 has been a year, right? Hey there! So it dawned upon me I literally have not uploaded anything on FA in a YEAR.
Actually, the main reason I even noticed this is I was getting prepared for my annual Halloween submission, only to notice that the most current upload in my gallery is ... Halloween. I feel so bad about this! So this goes without saying, but expect a little art dump tomorrow. As surprise surprise, I have been commissioning art in the past year!
So where have I been and ignoring FA? Honestly, Twitter. https://twitter.com/Zain_Akkla This is typically where I have been posting "new" art ((So long as it is SFW)), and I also share my SecondLife Photos, my Brass Carvings I work on .. and sometimes share my personal thoughts and everyday life shenanigans. It's by no means a character page. It's my personal account, so don't expect a sassy tease Fox. Just .. casual coffee addicted Fox.
Follow there if you feel so inclined to do so! If not, no worries! For those that are sticking around on FA alone, I am planning to do things for y'all. As mentioned earlier, expect uploads of quite a few pieces of art. Then on Saturday NEW HALLOWEEN VOODOO FOX -- ((Which has already been revealed on Twitter- hinthint))

Updates and Raffle
Posted 6 years agoWell well, it has been a while since I last posted a journal! Honestly I am never entirely sure what to ramble about with these, but I have been meaning to address some things that have been brought to my attention. I'll keep it simple with some bullet-points below!
• Zain & Warren Dakimakura: I've had some people ask me where you are able to obtain these, and for a while the answer was simply "Only at certain conventions!" -- However there is now an online option! https://www.puffin.fish/ <- This is Patto's website, and all proceeds will go directly to the artist. You'll find not only Foxy and Woof Dakis, but also some awesome enamel pins and masks! If you're unable to go to a convention, this is the next best option I can recommend.
• Twitter: https://twitter.com/Zain_Akkla I use this. Quite often! However it is more of a personal account, and not in character. So if you go to follow it, don't be surprised if you hear me ramble about coffee or work. Though sometimes art is displayed, and this is where I show off my own creations! "What? Akkla is an artist?" -- Yes, I hand carve brass for those that are not aware! Twitter is a great way to get in contact with me, especially for random little interactions.
• Raffle: Literally a year ago I asked if people would be interested in participating in a raffle, and the response then was pretty positive! I mean hell, who doesn't like free art? So, I am finally going to hold one but not until I hit 5k followers. As I type this it is currently at " 4854 " - So not too far off! Once we hit that golden number, I will give more information.
For those that have directly asked me before in the past "Can we get a commission together?" - The answer is still Yes.

MFF 2017
Posted 8 years agoIt's like they say, "You can't just eat one potato chip!" - and sure enough, with that in mind I will be attending another convention. I had an absolute blast attending AC back in late June, and now I am so ready and eager to hit up MFF! I was tempted to do a similar journal like I had with AC, but instead I will just cherry pick a few crucial questions that I'll answer here. Also, for those that stumble across this journal and plan to attend MFF, speak up!

Reading: Doom Brigade by Don Perrin and Margaret Weis
Playing: "For the Flayed Twins, I seek blood."
Drinking: Hudson BourbonAugust 3rd marked another trip around the sun for myself, and I have survived to add one more tally mark to my age. Despite this being an odd number year ( 31 ) I am feeling very confident about it being without a doubt the most memorable year to come! This past year has opened a lot of doors down the hallway and I am no longer wandering around aimlessly in the dark. I am eager to seek out and explore numerous opportunities that have presented themselves! I have very recent events to thank for that, and for those that know what I speak of, Thank you so very much! What had been just a spontaneous choice to shake up my usual routine has been the best path to have taken. Which is something we should all take in mind: Sometimes it is good to seek out the unknown and experience things that may be uncertain. The results may prove to be very ideal!
I would like to take a moment in my ramblings to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday! You guys are awesome, and this community never ceases to amaze me. For those that recently just stumbled across my page and decided to give me a follow, I would also like to say Thanks! I may not shout it out personally to each and everyone of you, but rest assure I always dive in to see who that person may be. Explore what there is to be seen, and always follow the artists I commission: They deserve the love more than myself!
There are some big plans coming up in the near future! Not only in the ways of art and commissions, but also events in person. I am going to attend more conventions, and I look forward to meeting as many people as possible! I want to share a drink, swap stories and have an overall good time with good vibes. AnthroCon was an absolute blast, and I intend to have that repeat itself again. As I type this there are going to be two main conventions I will without a doubt be attending: Midwest FurFest and Furnal Equinox! I'm probably more excited for FE than anything because I have never been to Canada before~ So that in itself will be one heck of an adventure.
More information to come: You may notice a shift in commissions. Have no fear, the Fox will always be a sassy tease, but I want to show off something a little more adventurous as well. More story building!
Oo big ideas .. okay, Catch those who read these on the flip side!

The AnthroCon 2017 Report

I said to myself earlier "Today I am going to take it easy and relax. Get the past five days out of my system."
So, what do I do? Naturally I crack open a bottle of beam and get right back to drinking!
That right there is pretty much how the weekend went in a nutshell. It was fast paced, exciting, and full of booze/Food/and Good Company! Never was there a dull moment. Full of high adrenaline with no sign of actually settling down! I had a lot of fun, and it was without a doubt one of the best weekends I have ever had in a long time. Why I have never been to a furry convention before in the past is beyond me, but I am more than eager to go to another.
Pittsburgh is a beautiful city. The very first impression I received when I drove in was just how amazing it appeared with the surrounding forests and vast rivers trickling by. A lot different than San Francisco, and a hell of a lot easier to navigate. Typically when it comes to driving to a city I can easily feel overwhelmed and lost; but this was not the case! Granted this time I had a GPS to shout out directions, but disregarding that it was a great drive. The people that I encountered that actually live there were very friendly, and seemed pleased to have this particular convention take place. I distinctly remember the people back in CA for Comic or Anime conventions always seemed a bit rattled by the surge of business that approached. However it probably helped that most of the people attending the AnthroCon were very cool and polite.
Now to be completely honest; A lot of the events taking place inside the actual Convention .. were missed. I didn't attend any panels, and briefly walked the Artist Alley and Dealer's Room. I attended the Dance/Rave for one night, and the Zoo was visited for a quick minute. Now, while I may not have participated in any of those things, the convention did seem appealing to me! I just lost track of time while trying to meet and hang out with so many people at once. Which honestly is the best thing to take from the convention; The People you meet and interact with. Some of the best people ever were at this convention and they really helped contribute to the most exciting weekend I have ever had.
To everyone I got the chance to meet; You're all fawesome and snazztastic! You helped make my first furry convention the most memorable event to take place in my year. I hope to see you again relatively soon for another convention!
There are without a doubt a lot of random little stories I would love to share, but perhaps that will be for another journal. I'll cease with the ramblings.

AnthroCon 2017

So earlier in the month a friend asked if I would be attending AC. Actually, I have been asked to go to several different Furry related conventions before in the past, but with my line of work I typically have to shoot down the idea. Getting time off is never in my favor, so I just don't bother.
This time however I made a spontaneous choice and said "Yes, I will be there!" and made certain to get the days off.
I.. am both excited and nervous! I have been to conventions before in the past (ComicBook, Anime, SteamPunk), but never specifically targeted to the Furry Community. The cons I've been to in the past have been with my old core group of friends, so I knew who I was with. This time however, I will be meeting people for the first time face to face in a city I have never been to! Once I get warmed up I'll be very sociable, but you better believe there will be a flutter in my stomach leading up to that point.
Rambles aside: I will be at this upcoming convention!
Oh, and I figured I'd answer the little questions from this meme thing:

Posted 9 years agoI am fashionably late to every party known to man, so let me start off with saying "Happy New Years!" and greetings to any other Holiday I seem to have forgotten that occurred after Halloween! I have never been too good with keeping up with journals..
However I felt that with the start of another year I should set aside a moment to ramble to anyone who wish to listen. A lot has occurred in the past year, and I would like to take a moment to say "Thanks!" - "What's up?" - "Why?" All at once! It will never cease to amaze and surprise me when someone ventures over to this account and gives it a follow. I really appreciate the interest in my characters, and I hope that you guys give the artists I commission just as much support. They are amazing people, and it has been an absolute pleasure working with them and showing my own way of support in allowing them to follow a dream they love. Certainly can't complain with the combined results, they are talented individuals!
With the mention of art, I will say there is quite a back-log! I have always from day one had an odd system for posting commissions. The plan was simple: I wait for the artist to upload the piece initially, letting them get the full view and publicity before adding it to my own gallery. That way when it is posted here, it serves as another way to generate views to the Artist. Unfortunately there is a slight flaw to the plan; If the artist doesn't upload the piece then it may never be seen unless I break the rule or I simply lose track of time and end up with a back-log. Now, I hate to flood people, but then again I'm sure people would like to see more than one posting a Month.. So I will try to remedy this issue this coming year!
Unfortunately commissioning is not something I see myself stopping anytime soon. In my mind it is a charitable addiction. I love seeing my character depicted in another artist's style, and at the same time being able to show them some support and love. However maybe this year I will try and switch things up! For anyone who has managed to read down this far into the ramble, I would like for you to give me an honest opinion on a theme you are most interested in seeing being fleshed out more with either of my main characters. The Fox is a well established tease, but I would like to maybe expand that to something more! Of course, Maybe others would like to be involved in a piece with my characters. Granted this isn't open season, but I am interested in hearing your ideas.
Also on a random note, to those that contact me on Telegram or via notes, I try my best to keep up in contact but let it be known I am a pretty busy person! My profession lately has had me working 6 10's a week, so If I am not at work chances are I am trying to sleep or enjoying a good drink to take the edge off. So my apologies to anyone who has felt ignored, it is not intentional.
That should do it for this ramble of the night!

Traditionally this is the time of the year I make plans of getting a specific Halloween themed commission that involves my Fox posing as none other than Baron Samedi!

Halloween is without a doubt one of my favorite holidays out of the year, and it is fun to have the Fox dress up for the occasion. This year however I don't believe I will be able to have such a commission drawn! Bad timing and unsure who to tackle the request; but there is one trick up my sleeve. You may have already known about Warren Snicket , and his unique design being very similar to how I always wish to dress the Fox up as. So for this week I will be uploading art specifically of this cherished character! They may not be Halloween specific, but He fits the theme quite obviously.
So for those who follow this account to see the Werewolf~ This is the week to howl at the moon!

On a completely different route that has nothing to do with art, but just wishing to converse: What are your plans for Halloween? Will you be attending any parties and dressing up, or will you be hanging at home helping to pass out candy to the little ghouls and witches that dare to step near to the door?
