HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALABAS'DURRR!!!
Posted 16 years agoSo I turn 21 in an hour and a half. Midnight!!
Another amazing year full of fortune and dismay alike. Still, I have no major regrets.
Made new friends and love the old. Watched some of them move on and grow while the others are here by my side.
Since my drinks tonight will be legal, I'll propose a toast to all who I know and those I'll befriend in this new year. To those I love and to those I don't know yet, and to every amazing that I've experienced this year and things I've yet to experience. And to those who offered me help and to those I'll reach my own willing hand out to, I look forward to it all.
I love you all! And if I don't know you, or you don't know me, I can say I love you too! :)
Ok now it's drunkxed time!! <33

MFF
Posted 16 years agoTo my dismay
I don't think I'll be attending this year. :c
With bills to pay at the end of the month and the holidays coming up, I shouldn't invest on a furry convention.
Sad because MFF is the convention I've been looking forward to all year.
Unless I win the lottery, I don't think I'll be going to the convention.
mucho sorry ya'll. :c

Posted 16 years agoNot art this time guys settle down.
I was on my way home from work leaving the mall and boarding the Washington DC Metro Train from Pentagon City, as I usually do.
Sometime between me leaving Haagen-Daz and boarding the metro train, someone took my wallet from my pocket.
All $200 dollars from my wallet, in cash, was taken--BUT WAIT ALABASTER YOU STUPID MOTHER FUCKER WHY DIDNT YOU PUT THAT IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT?? YOU STUPID CUNT
Well maybe thats because when I had gone to the bank to have it deposited their networks were down due to a storm and couldn't deposit the money and told me to do it tomorrow or later in the week.
I had my credit cards and debit cards frozen and I'm probably gonna have to change my social security number and all those lovely things.
Video evidence and some police activity is currently going down as to who took it but I'm not expecting to hear much.
I'm sad. I'm gonna tear up on my pillow and watch aqua teen. c:

Sex
Posted 16 years agoWhile this is a pretty personal journal entry, I figured what the hell. A lot of us are pretty open minded.
We all have probably done it, and those of us that haven't probably will someday. This is because we have our reasons for doing it and our reasons why we haven't yet.
Sex can be as considerably complex as love can be defined. Everyone views love and sex so differently to their own individual interest that there can't be a singular definition to what they truly mean.
SO here's what I wanna know:
What does sex mean to you? Is it a love-interest thing? A casual thing? Any other reason or feeling behind your sex?

STUPID ICKY BODY PARTS
Posted 16 years agoSo,
Does your body do unexplainable or unintentional things that you really can't quite explain? (don't be PURRverted guys)
You probably need an example..!
Like, I can't burp. I SERIOUSLY burp like once a month. I can't just make myself do it. But when there is a burp in my gut, i choke, and hiccup, and thusly create a burp-up.. and its the most awkward sounding bodily function ever.
OK YOUR TURN

Ok, But What About Furry Pride?
Posted 16 years agoWhat are your views on Furry Pride? Where do you stand?
Me?
I personally feel its completely separate from Gay Pride, Black Pride, White Pride, etc. Mainly because I don't believe you're BORN a furry.
Although, Scientists have recently discovered that there is a part of the brain which tells you if you think something is cute or not. While I don't believe that particular part of the brain makes you a furry, I do believe that part of the brain does have some impact on certain behaviors in furries.
But, onto my point.. I almost feel the same way with Furry Pride as I do Gay Pride. There are SO many subcategories involved in both Gay Pride and Furry Pride. So there's a lot to be proud of and take pride in. Which makes this a pretty broad concept.
So, I'd have to say while I do enjoy being a furry, I don't like being too public with the lifestyle. I cringe when I see people wearing the ears and tails around in the open--especially collars and leashes. Which is strange because if I had a fursuit, I'd go public with it every week, haha.
Well, in closing. I'd have I stand in the same position as I did before with Gay Pride. Don't force your lifestyle onto others and expect to be accepted. It's like friendship. If you meet new people, and you be yourself, chances are you'll make friends and be accepted. But if you try too hard to be over the top with who you are, no one will respect you.
Your Turn. : )

Gay Pride? Why?
Posted 16 years agoWhat's your opinion? Gay or otherwise.
Me?
I think its great for someone to have something to believe in and be passionate about. It's awesome that we are able to do that in America unlike other places where homosexuals would be murdered. But..
I think parades, rainbow flags (or any other rainbow accessory) and screaming queens in tank tops are completely annoying and bring bad attention. It's one thing to have pride in who you are, but its another if you bring it to the streets and force people to accept you visually rather than who you are for personality sake. Sorry, but people will find it harder to accept your flashy sequins over who you are as a person. The only thing you're attracting is unwanted attention to the gay community.
I don't see straight pride parades where heterosexuals walk around in flannel shirts and levi straight fit jeans on their john deere lawn mowers going down the streets of New York. Forgive me if I'm stating stereotypes, but gays, we hate stereotypes correct? So stop being one : O
Don't get me wrong. I'm proud to be a homosexual. Well, not proud. But I'm not ashamed of who I am. I don't wanna throw a parade and make it Gay Day at Disney World.
Just sayin guys :V

Photography vs. Illustration
Posted 16 years agoOn FA in particular.
Do you guys feel that photography has a special place in the fandom? There's been a lot of debate over the years regarding this subject, and I think it still falls in the same argument that involves poetry, story writing, and music.
While I'm not an experienced photographer, and I couldn't tell you the name of any special bend of lens or special form of lighting aside from Rembrandt Lighting, I do think that photography is extremely essential and is not limited to just the furry fandom, but also human culture in particular. Example? Look around you.
The tree outside your window, although it can't express its feelings, its physical presence can sometimes be emotionally overwhelming. Is it a tree that was always there since your childhood? Is the family dog buried next to it? And what about the rusted apartment building across the murky street? See how it crumbles and withers, making you wonder what lives were lived before the crust of the structure began to crumble? Even the people around you especially can be photographically captivating. The emotion spoken through the eyes. The smiles, frowns, tears, and wrinkles. My favorite part of the body which I find are very expressive are the hands. You can tell a lot from a person by the condition of their hands. No matter what you're looking at, once its captured on camera, it has greatly influenced and even helped in the advancement in our culture--and furry is part of it.
We spend thousands of dollars to have fursuits made, for various personal reasons. For sex? Sometimes. For roleplay? Sometimes. Just to have fun? Sometimes. In the end no purpose is greater than the other, because we all live our own personal lives and shouldn't say what someone does in their personal life is wrong nor right. Unless of course it causes harm to others. We then take photos of fursuits at cons or just walking around town greeting people and having fun with their children or dogs in parks or playgrounds. We socialize with people in their fursuits as well and take photos of the exciting, fun, and hilarious memories.
But here on FA, and even the Furry community in general, photography isn't as appreciative. I can understand that a lot of sex is involved with furry, more so than there was in the beginning. And because of this, a lot of furs with a passion for photography aren't praised for what they do.
Writers such as
toonces is probably the most well known furry writer on FA. His stories are so well written that you could almost find a visual reality in how his stories are told. Musical composers such as the acclaimed
foxamoore is the greatest furry musician on FA, and quite possibly even outside of FA. A talented musician such as himself, doesn't need any introduction. But do you know any brilliant photographers who've made themselves a name through FA?
What upsets me though is when people use FA to post 'suggestive' photographs on FA and call it an art of photography. Photography isn't just a science, but its a lifestyle. And when the rules specifically state that no suggestive images can be put on FA but people do it anyway because they say its 'photography'? That's absolutely ridiculous. But on FA, its ok if the half naked guy or girl is wearing ears and a tail, because then its considered 'furry photography'. It's just another excuse to allow yourself to show off your body (whether its appealing or not) to the public to get some sort of ego trip.
While this journal isn't necessarily made in favor for any specific person, but through my speculation, my great friend
apollowolfhusk was banned for posting photos of women in bikinis in suggestive poses. The camera angles in some of the shots were considerably controversial, and that's why he was banned, from what I understood. Ok, I can agree with that. If he failed to listen to the rules then he should be punished, just like either of us. Including me, right? Of course. We expect everyone to obey the rules on FA. FA is a great website where we can post our drawings or photos or stories or anything! Our ideas, memes, songs, journals, commission information--its great! But if you're gonna punish Apollo for posting suggestive images, then why haven't these people gotten in trouble..?

How are these images different to those that Apollo took (aside from the obvious fact that his photos had women)? These are men who're exposing their bodies and some of them are in suggestive poses. Skimpy underwear? Almost exposing the crotch? Is that not suggestive? I'm not trying to call these people out by any means, I just wanna know when the line is drawn by the Administrators of FA. Who decides which is ok and which is not, and what specs should be noticed of each photograph? Because if you ask me, the shots Apollo took aren't much different than these given some of the suggestive angles and near-crotch shots.
I'll agree that the administrators put a lot of time into this site and that every once in a while a submission is overlooked. You still see people posting their genitals which is a direct violation of FA's upload policy. I'm not calling out on the Administrators on FA either. I just wanna know what makes a photograph considered the art and science of photography, and how one images is considered suggestive to the other. I certainly hope that there was no bias decision in banning apollo for showing a half naked women, because we know that'd be extremely wrong. But how is it different from showing these real life images of half naked men? I just wanna know whats up is all.

THE GREEN DEBATE ITS ABOUT WEED GUYSSS
Posted 16 years agoSo like, I gotta ask
What is your opinion on Marijuana?
I for one don't really oppose it because it doesn't really do any harm to the body whatsoever. Its not harmful to the brain, lungs, or the heart. Not only that, but smoking too much of it CAN NOT kill you.
Yeah, I understand that not just the concept of Marijuana itself but drugs as a whole has sparked a spiral of violence with gangs and such which leads people to dislike Marijuana a lot. Not to mention the fact that the government hasn't found a way to tax it yet.
From what I've gathered, in the USA during the 1960's through the 1970's especially, Anti-Drug campaigns were started to scare American citizens that the purchase of Marijuana was both illegal and Anti-American. As we know Marijuana became illegal because of the government being unable to tax it, and to purchase something without it being taxed is illegal. It was also very common to see new age people smoking Marijuana during those times. And given their demeanour, their protests and lifestyles were very untraditional to conservative America, which helped people to hate Marijuana more.
This hate was passed down from parent to child until we all grew up thinking that Marijuana was bad, and you should never, ever do it. We mostly learned that in schools beginning as early as kindergarten.
That's my take on Marijuana, and I don't see why there's an issue with it. If the government was able to tax it and sell it nation wide, gangs and street dealers would loose business and violence would significantly drop and there wouldn't be any issue. Just like Prohibition. By making alcohol illegal, it created gangs and underground speakeasy's that provided people with alcohol and protected it with violence. Once the sale and consumption of alcohol was made legal, gangs and violence quickly dwindled and a lot of money was brought into the economy.
THATS MY OPINION AND IF YOU DONT LIKE IT then you can eat shotgun shells. Lets hear yours though :3

I made a rather manly fart during a yawn in the middle of the lecture and my teacher had to stop what he was saying so he could laugh, and everyone kinda laughed with him. :x
I wanted to kill myself :3
