My miniature work and some background.
Posted 16 years ago Hi just thought I'd talk about my miniature hobby work, preferences, some background, and maybe a brief essay. Also I didn't want to a leave a negative journal as my most recent submission.
Let's get the negative out of the way first. I dislike Games Workshop, quite a bit actually. I don't do 40k I don't do warhammer, I won't play Dark Heresy, etc etc. I believe their products are geared towards teenagers of which I haven't been for quite some time. I'm not terribly fond of their sculpts. I hate working with plastic. Most of all I dislike them on principle. They make Microsoft look like philanthropists. You see GW used to have a monopoly, or believed they did in the 80's and 90's. They had and still do mind you outrageous prices and they love to bully independent vendors of their own products. They of course wanted you to only buy from them, in their stores. They have a software model of business. They change editions with rapidity and love to invalidate previous purchases so that you have to buy all new stuff from them. Etc etc I could go on for ages. Hell even GW doesn't like GW. You should see their employee turnover rate. They basically created their biggest competitor.
Now some years ago Privateer press came and took their lunch and basically kicked them in the balls by having higher quality product, lower prices, and a more friendly attitude towards their customers. Now don't get me wrong they have some issues too which I'll get to but the point is basically I really really dislike Games Workshop.
Ok so now about Privateer press. I haven't bought a product from them in months. Their prices have gone sky high which I realize is not entirely their fault. The chinese gobbled up all the metal they need and speculators have sent the price of metals through the roof. Still, sorry charlie I'm in no way going to shell out $20+ dollars for one guy. They even considered changing to plastic. Maybe they did. I dunno I won't buy plastic. Plastic sucks and is terrible to mod.
I used to play Cryx in warmachine. But then the sculpts started looking like ass and the prices shot up so I ditched my Cryx army. I still have some of the better stuff. I also used to play Hordes, legion of everblight, but the sculpts for those guys took a turn for the worse. Will I still play Hordes? Maybe. Likely. I can mod their stuff into a sweet dragon/xenomorph esque force. Ok who am I kidding? Yes I'll play hordes again when I can manage to get a job.
Anyway I'll finish this up by telling people what I do actually play.
Hordes, Legion of Everblight (force needs updating)
Heavy Gear (southern force)
Wargods of Egyptus (Crocs for the win)
Confrontation (I miss 3rd edition. They where retarded to update it. I have a sweet Vile Tis modded to bondage horses army. It's almost done. I'll put up some sample pics soon.)
Urban War and Metropolis. (I'll have to put up my dragons with guns Syntha force if I can ever get around to finishing it.)
Flames of War (I have a ton of germans and tanks and other stuff, even the rules but I've never actually played a single game)
What minis do I usually buy these days? Reaper all the way, great sculpts, cheap prices. Hasslefree and Freebooter, both imports, great stuff but expensive and slow releases. Wyrd minis. Hmm I think that's it besides the random oddball mini I pick up just because it's a good sculpt. I saw some hot nurses from Malifaux I gotta pick up.
Damn I just realized how much I've been slacking. I need to put those heavy gear mechs together and get around to the rest of the Rackham stuff.

I plead temporary insanity.
Posted 16 years agoSo I got my pretty new blue Powershot A480 today and hopefully I can upload some pics tomorrow.
But right now I'm cramming for an interview I have tomorrow morning with a major company I've been trying to get into for three years.
So today I went out and got a couple outfits for interviews. And spent $700. Now I'm not bragging or anything quite the opposite. I walked around in a daze afterward thinking, I spent how much? That's like two Xbox 360s, or two netbooks, or a decent laptop I need to upgrade to, or.. well you get the picture. I may be a white collar molecular biologist but my family is blue collar working class. I'm not used to such extravagance.
I'm still suffering from sticker shock, but hey screw it. I got a good deal and I need em.

Hi watchers!
Posted 16 years agoHiya. This is my first journal here. Thanks for watching, makes me kind of nervous though. I mean I'm not a traditional artist, I work with metal miniatures. I haven't put anything up in ages because my digital camera broke. I plan on getting a new one this week. I also write porn but I've been way too shy to post any of it.
But you're probably here for the great commissions I've been getting lately right? I plan on getting a few more of those soon as well.
As you've probably guessed by now I'm an emerald dragoness. Although I like being latex clad. Even having latex replace my scales permanently as in Tojo's pic. Hmmm what else? I'm a molecular biologist and my specialty is genetics. I live near SF.
Anyway stick around and I should have some great stuff to see soon.
