I stream games now
General | Posted 5 years agoBeen trying out streaming a bit lately, and figure I drop a link in case anyone is interested:
https://www.twitch.tv/lucientsoul
I don't have a specific theme on my channel as of yet, so just about anything can crop up, and I usually stream late at night (in my time). I do try to keep older streams saved, so if you can't make it, you can still check the stream logs.

Freedom Planet 2's demo was just released

And now settled back down after AC
General | Posted 10 years agoGreat times were had by all! Met lots of interesting people, annoyed the crap out of my roommates, and someone was nice enough to share with me a list of artists there willing to do stuff relevant to my interests. All in all one very interesting trip!
But, I can't get my scanner working, so it'll be a while before I can upload the commissions I made there. Rest assured I'll get them up as soon as they can, but otherwise it was a pretty good time.

General | Posted 10 years agoJust wanted to spread the word that Dungeon Fighter Online has left its Open Beta and is now at official release! Looking for some Streets of Rage meets DnD? Look no further than DFO, now complete with the Power Station expansion (starring the Apostle Anton as the main antagonist)!
Get the game here: http://www.dfoneople.com/

GENTLEMEN BEHOLD: Dungeon Fighter is back!
General | Posted 10 years agoOpen beta is available to all who desire it: http://www.dfoneople.com/
But wait there's more, because I've restored the "AradFurs" guild from the original! Old favorites return, and new faces have arrived. Join us at the "CAIN" server and apply for an invite by applying to the guild by name, and we'll be all too eager to have you!
What's that, you ask? "But I've already played DFO when it was with Nexon. How much has changed?" Well I'm glad you asked Mr. Theoretical Person, because basically the entire first half of the game was destroyed in a plot device and now takes place years later with entirely different quests. If you are familiar with how World of Warcraft had its huge Cataclysm update to change the early game entirely, think like that. The gameplay is largely the same, but everything from the UI to equipment system has been completely rehauled and ultimately refined, so even if you played to 70 in the old version, there's quite a bit to be discovered!

My Recent Work Commute (as told by ponies)

Lost Commissions + Potential Art Dump
General | Posted 11 years agoOkay, so long story short my primary USB drive where I kept my commissions is now telling me that windows cannot recognize it when plugging it in. Safe mode and different ports did not work, as they are giving me the same error.
Now I'm sure you're thinking, "Well didn't you have any backups?" Well, that's the good news: My current computer has most of my recent commissions, I always save emails people send me if they contain commissions, and though it is out of date I have a second USB with commissions backed up on it. I was not nearly caught off-guard by this as previous losses like my hard drive failures, so if I'm lucky and the artists for the ones missing still have backups I should be able to get back most if not all of them.
The bad news? I'm probably going to break my rule of not crossposting things for the future (since a depressingly large number of my commissions were apparently taken down from FA), so I'm probably just going to dump them here for even more backup support on them. Old stuff will hit scraps though I will most likely post newer stuff in the galleries, so if you ever wondered what kinds of things appeal to me you shall soon find out.

Dungeon Fighter Online Returns
General | Posted 11 years agoNeople, makers of the original Korean MMO that DFO is adapted from (Dungeon & Fighter), apparently decided that they had enough of Nexon's shit when it come to things like killing off their games and decided to just localize the game themselves.
http://dnf.neople.com/
I have no information beyond this (which itself was found on the DFO wiki), but in spite of the original game's flaws I really did enjoy the game so I figure it's worth sharing.

3DS Friend Code
General | Posted 12 years agoNew hard drive finally arrived so hopefully I'll be back to 100% within the next day or two. In the meantime I figure it'd be worth sharing my 3DS code in case anyone who hasn't added me yet wishes to do so. Currently playing Pokemon X because I am a slave to peer pressure and wish to see how well it holds up to the awesomeness that was Gen 5. I'm almost at the elite 4, so while I don't yet have the postgame stuff I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to test my team out a bit.

Hard Drive: Down and Out
General | Posted 12 years agoI mentioned the possibility of this to a few people earlier, but it looks like the hard drive on my laptop has officially been declared dead. As such, borrowed computers aside I will not be around for an indeterminate period of time, which also means that any commissions I have ordered will be delayed a bit. I've ordered a new hard drive at least, so hopefully I'll be back in business soon.
Sentai Jerks, Dicks, and A-Hole Teams
General | Posted 12 years agoMost people seem to think that Sentai teams are a bunch of goodie-goodies even when there's a token prick on the team. For the most part this is true, but a few teams break the mold by consisting mostly or entirely of jerkasses, and even though they aren't completely heartless people I thought it might be interesting to share a few:
Pirate Sentai Gokaiger:
Well first of all the team are actual pirates who pillage and destroy, though they tend to be lazy bums about it when the target isn't the evil empire they fight (though moreso out of a sense of vendetta than niceness). The red ranger just wants to get the 'ultimate treasure' from earth and get out of there, the yellow ranger only cares about money and how she can make things easier for herself, the blue ranger is basically cloud strife, and while the green ranger isn't actively mean he keeps his head down and hates getting involved in things like saving people. Pink ranger is the only exception though even then they refuse to return the lost powers of previous Sentai teams (even to the ones they actually belong to), which they freely use however they want.
Rush Sentai Carranger:
Five idiot mechanics who battle a bunch of idiot aliens each week who are only motivated to be a Sentai team because of an alien commander determined to make them live up to their destinies whether they like it or not (and considering they initially refuse on grounds of not making enough money to save the world, they clearly do not). Slightly less dick-ish than the other two teams mentioned here but nevertheless they're among the more unpleasant groups to wear the spandex.
Ninja Sentai Kakuranger:
These guys are based off characters from Journey to the West so the red ranger being Sun WuKong should already give you a strong idea of what you're in for, but when you find out we have the yellow ranger based off slacker-to-end-all-slackers Zhu Baije and the blue ranger as Sha Wujing you can tell the only non-asshole teammate is the white ranger, who is team leader for that reason (and she's based off Xuanzang). Black ranger is said to be based off Yulong due to lack of other options but generally he is the one trying to act like a cowboy most of the time (and keeps speaking English when his teammates would much rather he speak Japanese).

Post-AC Journal
General | Posted 12 years agoAC was pretty exciting, all things considered. Met a bunch of people I was hoping to run into, while also running into a bunch I didn't even know were attending. I spent more than I probably should, but overall it was a rather fun experience and I'm glad I was able to go with friends like that.
I will try to upload some of the swag later today but I might not be able to get all of it scanned in. Will do what I can however, rest assured. Just be warned: There may (i.e. will) be expansion involved.

So I'll be going with

kraz and

Come on and smile! (RMFC 2012 Complete)
General | Posted 13 years agoAnother year, another awesome RMFC. I managed to get some interesting comics, met some interesting people, and got some kind of "Laplace Mail" alert on my 3ds. I won't bore you with all the events I went to, but I can say that participated in 3 Smash Bros tournaments although I only managed to win one. I played some Arkam Horror with kupok as GM with a few... modded chars to make things more interesting, and of course had some good commissions done (which I should be uploading fairly shortly).
RMFC 2012
General | Posted 13 years agoI will be there. This year's theme is the end of the world, and if I've learned anything from video games it's that shady contracts with demons, the summoning of dark gods from forbidden medallions, breaking seals on holy weapons, solving the mystery, unleashing lolis that are probably actually thousands of years old, and punching Cthulu in the face are all viable ways of preventing it. We shall soon see what (if any) of these methouds prove fruitful.
Dawn Of: A NEW DAY (again)
General | Posted 13 years agoDevil Survivor 2 complete! Before I get into my thoughts on the game itself, I'll list each faction, what happened with each, and which ending I went with.
Faction 1: Damien's Faction
Members: Damien, Sefra, Kraz, Aethian
Damien's goal was to recreate the world based on the merit of each person. The strongest and wisest will lead, creating a sortof class system, but also assuring that the effort put into things will directly relate to the payoff.
Faction 2: Requiem's Faction
Members: Requiem, Krystil, Copain, Sparky
Requiem wished to create a world of eglitarianism (I spell that right?) where everyone is on the same level. No one will be able to really excel, but nobody will really suffer either.
Faction 3: Magi's Faction
Members: Magi, Dezzy, Verace, Catherine, Alex
Magi's goal is to find a third option. He isn't 100% sure on what to do yet since he formed the faction minutes before the party members split upon hearing and deciding he didn't like either option, but he is determined to work something out. After hearing out everyone's ultimate plans, I quickly decided I felt the same way.
Route 4: Anguished One
The "Secret" route. Unfortunately I didn't unlock it (despite it not being that hard, apparently), so I'm not 100% on the details on this one.
When conflicts broke out, the only real problems were Aethian and his freaking Deathbound, Kraz summoning an army of meatshields to avoid having to do the dirty work, Sparky healing everyone to full all the time, and the battle against Damien being very luck-based. In the end I was able to convince everyone to rejoin my side except for Kraz and Damien, who both decided to just be stubborn and leave.
Everything else went rather smoothly. Sadly, there was one unavoidable casulty: Anguished One had to die, and because it was due to storyline reasonings there was nothing I could do to save him. Shame really, as he'd been nothing but helpful until that point. Final boss wasn't too bad, just mostly a test in proper skill distribution and endurance (since there are no items and ways to restore MP are limited).
Final Team: (lv65-67)
Alex - Purple Mirror/Ukano Mitama
Magi - Taotie/Loki
Krystil - Norn/Remiel
Sparky - Titania/Rangda
Thoughts on the game itself:
-While I think I kind of like the first game's plot more, this one had a much better focus on character interaction and development, making it very easy to get attached to the cast. I could see why someone might prefer this one's narrative over the first, as its strengths cover what the last game lacked (kind of like OoT vs Majora's Mask).
-In terms of pure gameplay, the combat and customization is a lot better than in the last game. The Nicaea system is a lot more intuitive than the Death Clock system the last game had, and also means you have greater control over who lives and who dies.
-Other than the battle against Yamato/Damien, the boss fights are all very interesting and encourage changing up your tactics/fusing new demons over simple level grinding, which is always the sign of a good strategy game. There's also a lot more major bosses without sacrificing the overall pacing, which is pretty impressive seeing as how both cover the same in-game time of 7 days.
-Overall, one top-notch game I would reccomend to anyone who likes a good narrative, and/or a near-seemless mix of turn-based strategy and RPG mechanics.

Dawn of: THE FINAL DAY (24 Hours Remain)
General | Posted 14 years agoI was going to wait until I beat the game proper before doing this, but things keep coming up that keep me from finishing and I figured everyone might be interested in the cast's standing, so I figured I'd update everyone on what's been going on. I've technically reached the point where the group has split up into factions, but I will cover those in the next journal so that I have something more to say besides just the ending and my thoughts on the game as a whole.
___
chinesefox and me just got out of the building from taking college entrance exams to find the world has ended. Understandably, he's pretty thrown for a loop about it, and it didn't help when he was captured later and eventually forced to man up against the craziness going on around him. He keeps complaining a lot, but to be fair I wouldn't call that an unreasonable reaction to things.
___
dezzykitsune is wise and open-minded, but has a lot of confidence issues and crippling shyness much like in person. She also just finished college entrance exams the day everything went to hell, and we quickly soon find out that our families didn't make it through the disaster. Understandably this leaves her shaken, though not broken. At one point she saves Verace and Magi's lives by channeling Solid Snake. No seriously, it included the box and everything. Eventually, she was chosen as a host for channeling an important storyline demon, but was shown to be fated to die. With some words of encouragement from yours truly, she managed to survive.
___
damienfox leads what is apparently the Japanese Illuminati, because apparently they've been controlling the country in secret from the back lines for quite some time now. He has access to what is called the "dragon stream" and uses it to keep the country safe from the supernatural things that threaten it. He is often cold and manipulative, but this is because he feels keeping a good public image over just getting the job done is what led to the current civillization's downfall and has some very major long-term goals in mind. He generally has no expectations of his subordinates and admits to considering them pawns, but because of this he sees no reason to punish them for their failures (as punishment is for those who don't live up to expectations) and is all the more impressed when they do work out.
___
lapseph keeps barging into my room every morning. Apparently she used to be a synchronized swimmer before getting hit by a car, at which point that dream got kicked in the head. Damien took her into his JP's organization afterward, and has been loyal to the organization ever since. Eventually she was destined to die in a struggle against Requiem, so I ended up defeating both sides to ensure neither could kill the other. This caused some tension aroud the time the factions began to split.
___
copain seems rather silly... He seems to have trouble taking things too seriously even when his life is in danger, though he does go out of his way to help others and keeps the big picture in mind when taking action, even when at one point all this put his life and risk and took me and Requiem working together to save him. He has a girlfriend in the hospital he was afraid to see, moreso now that the world has more or less ended (though the hospital seems to have survived due to being well-built), though with words of encouragement he found the courage to get engaged. However, with the hospital's supplies cut off thanks to this little series of unfortunate events, she didn't make it.
___
kraz was possessed by demons working for a mysterious person known as the "Anguished One" seeking to take down Damien's JP's organization. Afterward she revealed that she had studied abroad and is very loyal to damien's cause, though is not above being frank and isn't afraid to call out people who say or do anything she considers dumb.
___
sparkythechu is rather carefree, even to the point of pointing out how cute some demons are while still admitting that it's a threat and not to underestimate it. This annoys Sefra. She apparently adopted a daughter at some point before the events of the game, and is upset that she cannot see her very often due to all the medical needs JP's has had since the events (which also causes her to wonder about what kind of impact the things she does now will have on the future). Eventually Anguished One mounted an attack on JP's that would have resulted in her being killed. I was angry about this but it turns out he had some significant reasons for mounting the attack and her death was not by his order. Even so, while killing the one responsible was optional I saw no reason not to murder his ass (and consiquently, the rest of him).
___
fursouseki starts out working with Verace as new recruits to Damien's group. She gets angry very easily and complains a lot, due to a lot of issues hitting her family hard, resulting in poverty and her losing her father. She doesn't know about it, but it turns out her father was investigating JP's and Damien had him killed for it. The lack of money also means she had to give up her dreams of being a famous piano player. Upon finding out about this, Sefra informs her that dwelling on one lost opportunity could result in her losing her chance at another, explaining about how her first dream was lost but was given a second chance by Damien and his group. She later is forced to use her "feminine wiles" (i.e. loli appeal) to help summon something necessary to continue the plot.
___
verace is very loyal to his friends, and often acts trying to help at no regard for his own personal safety. This pisses off Krystil a lot when they first appear together, as she formulates plans he never follows properly. This results in him almost getting himself killed when some rioters capture Magi and force him to disarm, but luckily Dezzy managed to save them by doing her best Solid Snake impression. It turns out he was orphaned at a very early age, and became stronger through growing attached to his friends at the orphanage as well as the people he met growing up. At one point Sparky helps him save an injured cat, and together the two find a safe place for the cat to live without having to worry about demon attacks.
___
aethian works with Catherine when they first meet the group. He doesn't like working with teams, however, and prefers being by himself (which almost gets him killed right away). He is effectively the opposite of Verace: he lost his family at an early age due to one of his father's supposed best friends betraying them all, and as such he refuses to let the same thing happen with him. He fights with Verace for getting in his way a lot, but while Verace apologizes for getting in his way he refuses to let Aeth's preferances on being a loner slide, which causes a lot of friction between the two.
___
samanthaweltzin is with Aeth at the start of the game. She has big dreams of being a famous dancer and isn't afraid to be assertive when something isn't going well, including when Aeth claims that he doesn't need her help. She often likes to make fun of the fact she is a lot more shapely than Krystil, despite only being slightly older. Her adeptness at dances from around the world were at one point needed to call forth a demon necessary for the plot, which she was able to do with ease.
___
requiem_shade was working under Krystil's father when he suddenly disappeared during the JP's investigation. This prompted his own investigation, discovering Damien's master plan for taking control now that the world has ended. He has dedicated himself to stopping Damien at all costs, sometimes to the point of being cold in doing so, but is still generally willing to help out anyone he runs into that is in trouble (as shown by the fact he is not afraid to help out whenever he runs into my group and finds us in need of assistance).
___
Alex - For whatever it's worth, I've done my best to depict my character as an optimistic realist. Overall I like the main protagonist of this game, especially since you get a lot more snarky comment options compared to the last game, but I will get more into that next time.

He generally has no expectations of his subordinates and admits to considering them pawns, but because of this he sees no reason to punish them for their failures (as punishment is for those who don't live up to expectations) and is all the more impressed when they do work out.___
lapseph keeps barging into my room every morning. This caused some tension aroud the time the factions began to split.___
copain seems rather silly... However, with the hospital's supplies cut off thanks to this little series of unfortunate events, she didn't make it.___
kraz was possessed by demons working for a mysterious person known as the "Anguished One" seeking to take down Damien's JP's organization. Afterward she revealed that she had studied abroad and is very loyal to damien's cause, though is not above being frank and isn't afraid to call out people who say or do anything she considers dumb.___
sparkythechu is rather carefree, even to the point of pointing out how cute some demons are while still admitting that it's a threat and not to underestimate it. Even so, while killing the one responsible was optional I saw no reason not to murder his ass (and consiquently, the rest of him).___
fursouseki starts out working with Verace as new recruits to Damien's group. She later is forced to use her "feminine wiles" (i.e. loli appeal) to help summon something necessary to continue the plot.___
verace is very loyal to his friends, and often acts trying to help at no regard for his own personal safety. At one point Sparky helps him save an injured cat, and together the two find a safe place for the cat to live without having to worry about demon attacks.___
aethian works with Catherine when they first meet the group. He doesn't like working with teams, however, and prefers being by himself (which almost gets him killed right away). He is effectively the opposite of Verace: he lost his family at an early age due to one of his father's supposed best friends betraying them all, and as such he refuses to let the same thing happen with him. He fights with Verace for getting in his way a lot, but while Verace apologizes for getting in his way he refuses to let Aeth's preferances on being a loner slide, which causes a lot of friction between the two.___
samanthaweltzin is with Aeth at the start of the game. She has big dreams of being a famous dancer and isn't afraid to be assertive when something isn't going well, including when Aeth claims that he doesn't need her help. She often likes to make fun of the fact she is a lot more shapely than Krystil, despite only being slightly older. Her adeptness at dances from around the world were at one point needed to call forth a demon necessary for the plot, which she was able to do with ease.___
requiem_shade was working under Krystil's father when he suddenly disappeared during the JP's investigation. This prompted his own investigation, discovering Damien's master plan for taking control now that the world has ended. He has dedicated himself to stopping Damien at all costs, sometimes to the point of being cold in doing so, but is still generally willing to help out anyone he runs into that is in trouble (as shown by the fact he is not afraid to help out whenever he runs into my group and finds us in need of assistance).___
Alex - For whatever it's worth, I've done my best to depict my character as an optimistic realist. Overall I like the main protagonist of this game, especially since you get a lot more snarky comment options compared to the last game, but I will get more into that next time.

Apologies to guys who have to take female roles, but I had to make due with what I had. As with last time, I will post a report at the end of the game with all major events as well as which ending I chose.
Peaceful days are over. Let's survive.

Star Control 2
General | Posted 14 years agoFor those who never heard of this game before, it's a space-themed game that was made back in '92, and was one of the first few legitimate sandbox-style games around. And I mean it; there's nothing that forces you to do anything in a specific order and all storyline-related things have at least 2 or 3 different ways that they can be done, not to mention the galaxy is absolutely huge for plenty of exploration (which is never the same each time since non-storyline related galaxies are generated randomly each new playthrough). The different alien races you run into are all very interesting and the world the game takes place in has a surprising amount of overall depth to it (both in terms of history and development), not to mention it had a number of influences on later games such as Mass Effect. Be warned, however: it's rather difficult to beat the game on your first playthrough without a guide.
Those interested can find the game here:
http://sc2.sourceforge.net/
The game is completely free of charge and comes with an online multiplayer to get into dogfights with friends, so feel free to go nuts.
