Commission STREAM Friday!
Posted 5 years agoThis Friday the 28th I'll be hosting another commission stream around 6-7pm CST!
I will be following my previously mentioned format change since my hand/arm is still experiencing some pain. For clarification, these are the changes to how the stream will work:
• Single batches only. I will no longer be taking more than 1 batch. The batches will contain 3 slots. I may add an additional slot if I feel very comfortable, but this will likely only be a sketch, lines, or a headshot piece, nothing more extensive than that. This extra slot is not guaranteed.
• If you ask "Will you do another batch?" more than once, I will temp ban you from the stream, because I sometimes get those that pester... but you'll be warned first so it's no biggie.
• Please submit ideas to my Google Form: https://forms.gle/tDq8ZbofteESTbqE6
Slots will roll as follows:
Slot 1: Patreon-exclusive (unless no patrons want anything). If multiple patrons want something, the slot will be chosen based on either a raffle or artist's choice.
Slot 2: Artist's Choice. I will choose this through entries submitted from the Google form.
Slot 3: In-stream raffle. This will be chosen as usual via the members attending the stream at the time! I will host this raffle around an hour into the stream!
Warm-ups: I MAY offer warm-up sketches or headshots on a first-come basis! This would be one of those "Hey guys, I think I'm gonna do a quick headshot. Anyone want one?" type of deal. First person to claim it gets it. So you just gotta be attentive to the chat if you want something like that! They are likely to happen inbetween Slots. I will likely not be doing these Friday but hey... you never know!
For Artist's Choice, I will prioritize people who have never gotten a commission from me before! I may also prioritize more solidified ideas versus ones that require more tinkering or experimenting. It will really just depend!
Thank you to everyone who was supportive of my change in format and were concerned for my health Yall are awesome and mean a lot!
Hope to see you then~ If you have any questions, just ask here!

I Hurt Myself :'3
Posted 6 years agoBefore I explain, just know this is no one's fault but my own cause I'm a big ol' dumb dumb.
Anyway, yeah, 2 weeks ago I streamed and hurt myself by overdoing it :3 I usually stream 2 batches of commissions which can last up to 6-8 hours (usually around 7pm to 3am) no problem, but I shoulda known better than jumping back into it after a several-months-long break was a bad idea.
Sooo, yeah. Hurt my hand/arm which already has tendinitis. The next day after the stream my entire hand went numb and my arm has been hurting in various degrees since. It only JUST started feeling better the past three days and I think I'm finally recovered. But oof.
So new plans for commission streams: No more double batches. From now on, I'm restricting it to 1 batch only, with some warm ups maybe in the form of sketches or headshots. I can't risk this happening again.
I usually try to fit in as many slots as I can because I feel bad folks can't get something. Every time I stream I have people pressuring me with "Are you doing another batch? When's the next raffle?" and if I say I'm not doing another they up and leave right then. It makes me feel like crap so I try to push myself to include more people. Well, this is what happens when you do that :c What I will probably end up doing is going off my forms and choosing people individually for at least 1 slot that hasn't been able to win a spot in the raffles. So Slot 1: Patreon. Slot 2: My Choice. Slot 3: Raffle. That seems fair to everyone and also protects myself. Headshots and Sketches for warm ups I'll take first come first serve probably.
If anyone comes into my streams and pesters me again about "Are you gonna do another batch?" from now on, I will temp ban you from my Picarto. It's frustrating to deal with. I'd rather not deal with that stress.
Thank you for everyone for coming to my streams and participating in the chats or paying for art! You're amazing and I appreciate your support Hope this all is clear!

LIFE UPDATE (Psst it's Boring)
Posted 6 years agoQuick update for everyone cause it's been a few!
Long story short, my brain is kinda in a constant state of frazzlement due to being so busy with just. Life?
I work full-time now-a-days offline. Not... really in the plan but, hey. We are extremely short staffed atm due to a mass of people quitting (including new hires who just... decide to stop showing up...) so my hours have skyrocketed. Hey. Here's a tip? If you wanna quit a job, unless they are absolutely horrible to you or your health is at stake (in which case, RUN), can you like... just put in a 2 weeks notice and ACTUALLY SHOW UP for those shifts? When you don't, you make everyone else pick up your slack and it's, uh, garbage lol Why does this keep happening.
I enjoy my job a lot! I mean, every job has its complaints, but overall I'm very lucky I enjoy going into work every day and being challenged and fulfilled. But, yeah. It's exhausting. Especially now, with the holiday season. I can't imagine my hours will be any better until January at the earliest. Fingers crossed, I can change my availability up next year after the holiday season cools down and I can return to part time there and pick back up consistent commission work and such here! I love drawing for others when I actually have the time to breathe.
I'm still doing art stuff to keep me sane, obviously, but it's very casual and slow going. I'm no longer forcing myself to keep to schedules because I just mentally can't do it anymore. TS is pretty much my only scheduled thing now outside of Labyrinth's deadlines, and I'm managing, even if I'm not ahead in my buffer by any means. Buffers will come later. I just can't do more than I am currently.
Hand's hurting me again also lmao Well, not consistently. It kinda wavers? Some days it's there, some days it's gone. It's weird. I still need to go back to the doctor about it but lmao who has the time AMIRITE.
Despite all this, I'm actually doing okay. Just tired.
So, yeah! If I'm ever hard to reach, sound weird, or take 1000 years to get back to you, no worries! I'm just doing that thing called life.

FREE ART REQUESTS if you join my Patreon!
Posted 6 years agoHey all! Just realized I never advertised this here! Whaaat!
My friend Cloudbat/ChimericMachinations has partnered up with me to draw FREE REQUESTS if you join my webcomic Patreon by the end of the month, August 31st 11:59pm CST.
If you join the Patreon ON ANY TIER (including $1) during the month of August you can receive an ART REQUEST from my friend Cloudie! You can choose between a colored headshot or fullbody sketch of any OC, OR your OC turned into an Ambivian (the main species of the webcomic) via a colored chibi!
Already a patron? If you INCREASE your tier level, you can receive the AMBIVIAN-IFIED CHIBI of any of your OCs! (If you are already at Queen tier, you get one automatically if you ask!) PLEASE NOTE YOU HAVE TO NOTE ME YOUR REQUESTS IF YOU WANT SOMETHING! I can't go around poking everyone individually! If you have joined this month I might poke you, but otherwise you gotta come to me first!

Example 2
Example 3

PLEDGE TO THE PATREON HERE!
PLEASE NOTE these do not have estimated completion dates, but should be completed within roughly a couple weeks to a month entirely depending on circumstances (such as how many are requested at one time). You can guarantee to get your request if the payment cycle comes around September 1st, but you also may get it beforehand! DO NOT JOIN THE PATREON TO GET A REQUEST AND THEN DROP BEFORE THE MONTH ENDS AFTER RECEIVING YOUR PIECE -- YOU WILL BE BLACKLISTED AND BLOCKED. Don't be that person. I will not hold it against anyone if you must drop or lower your pledge in the future, but I REQUIRE you to at least stay pledged for 1 month. Tier level does NOT matter! All tiers have the same options available.
Please NOTE me with proof of your pledge and we can discuss details! THIS DEAL ENDS AUGUST 31st 11:59 PM CST
Also I shouldn't have to explain it since I mentioned it twice already, but the art is NOT going to be from ME, it will be from CLOUDBAT!
Don't know what the heck I'm talking about? Read my comic here!
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AT ALL, FEEL FREE TO LEAVE COMMENT OR NOTE ME!

UPDATE
Posted 6 years agoI just wanted to tell everyone thank you for your kind and comforting words and extremely helpful advice on my last journal!
I've had such an outpouring since posting it, it was unbelievable. I truly thank all of you for commenting on the journal or sending me a PM. It means so much you truly care or were worried about me (even if I didn't want to worry anyone!). I never made the journal to gain sympathy or pity, I merely did it to add transparency to my situation. I wanted to make sure everyone knew what was going on with me in case it reflected in my online presence. So I didn't expect this!
Thank you all again. I will get back to everyone as soon as I can, but I've been taking a lot of advice and just taking it easy and slowly.
My hand is off and on hurting, and I am trying to work during periods it's not. I promise I won't hurt myself (try not to anyway!) and will develop a plan for how to solve my issues in the future!

Not Okay ATM
Posted 6 years agoTL;DR of this journal cause it's LONG:
• A sudden re-occurrence of hand pain is causing art delays.
• I'm horribly off schedule with literally everything, from comics to commissions to the raffle YCH due to my retail job and FWA.
• I'm mentally not in a good place right now. Not horrible, but not good either. I haven't been talking much about it but it's... it's there.
• I'm gonna keep truckin' but it's hard and I'm very tired.
PART 1: Filly y u so emotional?
The main point of this journal is rather lengthy, but I'll try to keep it as brief as I can manage. Things in my personal life have not been okay, and it's been affecting me a lot more than I realized. Since I had to move back home to my parents it's, frankly, been really emotionally taxing in a lot of ways I won't get into. Plans to fix the situation are in place, but I don't know when they will come into fruition, so I've just been going in and out of a mixture of trying to look forward to the future, and sinking into a hole.
I think this is a bad time for a lot of artists, because I'm not the only one as of late writing journals about such things. It hasn't gotten so bad that I'm upset on the daily or anything like that, on the contrary I'm pretty content/happy most days. But there are definitely underlying problems I've been ignoring, and minor things that come up and trigger a downwards spiral. Like letting things sit or sweeping them under the rug until it reveals its ugly head and you feel suddenly miserable. That happens about once a month on average now, and it's really emotionally tiresome.
I really gotta talk about the big thing that's been messing with me. I struggle a lot to just... feel worthy, I guess? With my artwork, with me as a person, just a lot of things. I enjoyed FWA a lot, but I feel like a nobody there. I feel like I don't belong in the community, either with my art or with me as a person. I'm ALWAYS really good at making friends in person, and I have met so many great friends through FWA and the Furry Fandom online. But I still sometimes feel like I'm not good enough, somehow, and I've never really felt this way before until I started accepting myself as a member of this community. I guess it's just that feeling of... starting over?
The same applies to my artwork. Have you ever just felt like you were doing something "wrong" but don't know what that is? I know my work is not very typical of work you see in the fandom or... really most communities, especially my webcomic. But not in the "I'm so special UvU" way, but rather in the "how the heck do I categorize this?" way. Kind of niche, I guess? And I dunno if that just turns people off? I find myself much more... "belonging" to my communities on deviantART than I do in my strictly furry communities, but sometimes even then I dunno where to go or how to feel about myself. I don't draw an animal comic... so no one in the animal comics community cares about me. I don't draw humans... so none of my SCAD peers take me seriously (I always joke about being THE ONE AND ONLY furry in anthologies I submit to, but looking at it sometimes I really do feel... kinda alone). I draw furries... but they aren't, like, normal furries? Like I don't have typical animal sonas. I have tiddyless alien raptor women and tiny sassy essence-stealing goat-chicks and... whatever the hell Kailani is supposed to be. So often it seems people scratch their heads when they look at my stuff and move on, and it's more apparent at conventions when you can physically see the disinterest on people's faces. Doesn't help my style isn't cute, nor is it nice and epic, it's just? What even IS my style LOL
Maybe I'm just being paranoid? I don't know. I guess I just want to feel accepted for being me, and currently I just kind of feel out of the loop without knowing how to fix it. It's really difficult to explain, and I don't know if I'm doing a very good job, but I hope that makes some kinda sense. I had a bit of an emotional, hopeless breakdown about this after FWA, and it's been really gnawing at me and I just don't know what to do or how to proceed.
* * *
PART 2: Filly get TF on with it
Then, moving on to other more specific issues...
I'm just. So. Off schedule. With everything. Comics, commissions, even misc things like the raffle YCH. Everything is a mess. A hot ass mess.
I really enjoy both my retail job and my art job (comics, commissions, etc.) but the two often conflict scheduling wise. Before I got my retail job I had my webcomic updating regularly (albeit, it still does, but behind the scenes... not so much), commissions were popping out frequently, it was great. Now... now it just is a struggle. I work every other day or sometimes 3 days straight, on shifts that always differ as retail often is, so my sleep schedule is a hot mess. When I get home from work I often get too sleepy to do things or have just enough stamina to do meager portions, and on other days I have to go to bed so early I don't have time to finish anything. It's caused my motivation to be extremely hit or miss. I miss being able to work on things consistently and being proud of my process. I'm not very proud of it right now.
How do you guys who work multiple jobs do it? You are magical and I send you ALL the respects.
After I complete this current commission batch, I just simply cannot take on more batches. Not unless you are 100% okay with it taking longer than usual to do them. Stream commissions are my ideal method of doing coms, because I don't have to worry about "Take home" assignments, if that makes any sense? I like being able to do coms in one sitting. It's less stressful for me AND honestly it's just more fun? I love being able to talk to people, be silly, goof around, and be productive all at the same time. It's honestly such a joy, and if you've been to my stream you know the kinda shenanigans we get into! So I think I need to build some sort of structure or schedule to do stream commissions more regularly, such as biweekly.
My biggest issue is always saying no. I just... really need to start learning to say no to batch commissions and stick to my guns on it. But it's really hard for me.
That said I appreciate every single person who commissions me or wants to do so I never want to sound ungrateful, as none of this is your fault. This is just something that no longer works with me (batch commissions, that is) like they used to. I hate that stream commissions are often out of people's time frames, so I do hope to implement a "reserved slot" option for streams in case you can't make it. I'll figure the specifics out at a later date!
For The Selection (which I need to update here what is WRONG WITH ME) I just desperately need to get my buffer back. Without the support of my Patrons, I don't know how far behind TS would be right now. I always put effort and time into my TS pages and having "due dates" through my Patreon has allowed me to figure out my process and learn how quickly I can complete a page that is to my standards. But even so, the damage is done, and there is rarely a buffer anymore. Last month I had two pages, before FWA ruined it LOL. So I absolutely desperately need to get back on track with that, for my own sanity. I plan to go on a 1 month hiatus for public updates once Chapter 2 comes to a close in July. That'll give me time to finish touching up the script for Chapter 3 and get some pages rolling out again. I still plan to update weekly as a tester at SOME POINT this year, and to do that I REALLY WANT a solid buffer.
And of course, I saved the best for last... I have hand pain again. I don't know why because I haven't been exerting myself all that much, but it's back with a vengeance as of 2 days ago. Sharp, throbbing pain in the depths of my thumb, probably tendonitis. AGAIN. I have had this on and off the last 2 years. Guess it's time for another doctor's visit... but it came at such a bad time. I have so much I need to catch up on it's honestly the last thing I need. But that's a heads up in case progress becomes slow again.
I hope things get better.

Now... now it just is a struggle.

SUPER Belated Raffle News + Other Nonsense
Posted 6 years agoFIRST THINGS FIRST I was goofy and forgot to make a public announcement here about the winners of my "Hugtime with Linda" raffle! OOOF
I raffled off the winners the day after it ended and released them on dA but did not get around to doing so here. Honestly, not sure why? Winners were contacted and I didn't think much past that! Sorry!
Regardless the winners were:
juleteon
fluffyz
AnotherSpectre
Anakletos
Snapshot for proof can be found here: https://www.deviantart.com/alfafill.....tatus/17006032
Thanks again for entering!! The turn out was truly fantastic! I will absolutely be holding other raffles like this in the future with my characters or scenarios. They're a lot of fun!
The final product from this raffle will be finished sometime end of the month c:
This was the important part of this journal, but additionally I want to give further updates on basic things!
I will be attending FWA/Furry Weekend Atlanta again this year! I will be in the artist alley as per usual Friday-Sunday. I'm not doing anything special this year outside of selling some stickers and expanding on my commissions. This year I'll be taking NSFW options! First year I was SFW-only. Last year I allowed nudity. This year I'm gonna take the leap! I want to just experiment and open myself up. I'm going to have my usual restrictions (no heavy fetishes) and a few very specific "NOPE" ones, buuuut past that I just wanna see for certain where my comfort zone is so I can decide for future reference (like for my regular commissions or YCHs). I'll see what happens on Friday and then if anything comes up that makes me uncomfortable I'll "close" them. But for the moment, porn is a-go for once!
Also cause I haven't been able to draw naughties in forever and I wanna practice again ;)
In terms of current commissions, my work schedule went a bit awry in March and I fell behind schedule. Obviously no one has paid except for the person I currently do, and it's for this reason I do that! At the moment I am on slot 4 of 6, so half way there! I am going to take a short breather this weekend to get caught up on my webcomic work before going back into it.
After I finish this batch... my regular commissions are going to cease for a bit. I just can't feasibly do them right now outside of confined instances like YCHs and streams. I keep attempting it, but it never works out D:
With my webcomic and Patreon taking priority there just is not any time for them!
Stream commissions will OF COURSE continue! I hope to keep doing them once monthly at minimum so it allows people an opportunity to get something!
I'll be doing my next one TONIGHT at around 8pm CST or around that. I'll also be holding another stream for Patrons-only later in the month!

COMIC Updates Here?
Posted 6 years agoGreetings all!
As some know, I run a webcomic called The Selection that I've been off and on doing for 10 (million) years now. Last year I decided to become consistent with it and have been uploading biweekly with hopes to one day increase to weekly.
I currently host it on my deviantART and update my other socials for updates by linking back. I... had been updating here with link-backs but I noticed they didn't seem to be very useful or productive because they were just images with off-site links, which people tend to look at then pass on. Also I just assumed no one cared LOL
So I figured, and had been suggested to for awhile now, to just upload pages in their entirety here since it would draw in better interest and be more convenient. I'm fairly loose when it comes to page posting, so it wouldn't really bother me to have them in different places if it means more people can enjoy it.
The issue iiiisss where to start? The comic has over 100 pages and I'm NOT going to upload them all.
Even if I did, I wouldn't want to because the comic is over 10 years old, and the outdated art is not something I mind people looking at/reading for the story, but it's not something I want to repost and showcase in my gallery alongside newer work.
So... no matter what, people here would HAVE to go through and read it all on my deviantART anyway to get the whole story. So I could theoretically just start uploading at any given page without it hurting anything.
I could skip Ch1 entirely and START with Chapter 2, which is currently 54 pages. Or (more preferably) I can start somewhere in the middle of this chapter, where I don't know. Just enough to give a taste and see if folks wanna go back and catch up.
OR LAST I can continue uploading the image previews with the redirect links until Chapter 3 starts (in I think July?) and THEN upload full pages from there.
For context, THESE are the preview images I had been uploading here:
http://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/.....ction-Webcomic
And THIS is my webcomic in full on dA:
https://www.deviantart.com/alfafill.....election-Comic
But what do you guys think? Any feedback is appreciated!

March Commissions + UPDEET
Posted 6 years agoMarch is upon us which means it's time to work on the Queue! I currently am CLOSED for queue'd commissions but will be having plenty of opportunities for things outside of it!
For current status, go here:
https://trello.com/b/t5oQBOIE/alfafillys-queue
But before I get into that, I wanted to give a quick rundown of how things will work on this current batch, as I'm switching it up a little bit.
Firstly, NO ONE will have to pay for their slot until it's their turn! So no worries!
Second, I USUALLY work on commissions in batches of 3 at a time, alternating on each one as I wait for client approval on the previous (if that makes sense).
For this month, I am only going to work on one at a time, in order.
I still have some comic obligations I need to attend to leftover from February, so instead of grinding 100% of my time on commission work I'll be splitting it.
All this really means is that it'll take a little longer to get through the list (maybe, I'm not sure!) since I'm not doing multiple at a time. The queue will likely still be completed by the end of March, as there are only 5 slots.
As for other methods of getting commissions outside of my batches, I'll do the usual streams, of course! I will be holding one TOMORROW/TODAY MARCH 2ND from 6pm to around midnight-ish Central Time.
THE CATCH, THOUGH: I will ONLY be requesting BUST COMMISSIONS in this stream. As well PATRON DISCOUNTS will be reduced from their regular discount for this stream. We can discuss details if you are a patron and want something at the time of stream.
More info when I go live! But here is the link for now.
https://picarto.tv/AlfaFilly
I'll host another stream prooobably next weekend? We will see! ADVENTURES.
Then I have a few more YCH ideas planned. Some involve interacting with my characters, including a FREE raffle piece I've been planning for ages and never got around to doing.
Another WATERSHIP DOWN themed YCH will be thrown up as well! I have 2 ideas, so we will see how they play out.
COMMISSIONS ASIDE February was a fairly productive month! Got my anthology submission completed and lots of webcomic content.
A few new projects are lined up, and I'm excited for what lays ahead. Job stuff has been going well too.
More art will be posted this month so keep an eye out!
UHHH. I think that's all? UNTIL NEXT TIME.

Commission PRICE CHANGES
Posted 7 years agoGreetings all! New Year, New Journal, New Changes!
So, I have been planning this for some months now, but it's time for me to once again raise my commission prices.
This is due to a lot of reasons. For one, I've been undercharging purposefully the last year due to my commissions' "sketchy" nature.
Yet, as the months passed by, I realized my commissions just got cleaner and cleaner, to the point they are pretty much typical of my usual style now.
One can argue "why not just get messier, then, and keep the prices down?" but it just doesn't happen that way most of the time. I never intended to "clean up" my sketches, they just... happen. lol It's out of my control, to be honest.
The next fact is that I have less time to dedicate to commissions as I did prior, as they take up my free time now as opposed to my primary time.
So it only makes sense I raise them to accommodate this.
Sooo as of 2019, my new prices will increase around $10 per-tier.
So a regular fullbody color used to be $25, but now they will be $35. Which is, ironically, the average price for a fullbody that I typically run across on commission sheets. Sooo guess I'm "normal" priced now?
Likewise, stream commissions will also increase. Instead of $20 for a fullbody color, it'll be $30, and so on.
So the discount will still be present there, but with a fitting increase.
The biggest upcharge I'll be doing is reference sheets. I didn't have a formal chart up last year but I did quote the same general prices.
I have significantly increased those, because ref sheets take up a huge amount of time extra, and I always make sure the quality is extremely clean and perfected on them.
I won't list all prices for refs, but they will now start at $40 for 1 view and increase from there.
With that said, I'd like to be able to give folks one more opportunity to get something from me at the old/cheaper prices.
So until I feel ready to post the new prices (possibly next month), I'll take quotes and inquiries for a small public commission batch!
Depending on how many people inquire, I may take people as-they-come or wait and pick n choose, I'm honestly not sure.
I also don't know just how many I'll take. I'll likely cap it around 5 max though, if I even get that many.
I'll make a formal announcement the next couple days, but I'll accept inquiries/quotes now! No need for anyone to rush, though.
I also want to hold one more stream with the old prices, but when I'll do that I'm not positive. I'll have to think of a good time/date when I'm off work!
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
Otherwise, I'll also be offering some YCHs in the future, because I've been DYING to do some more! Just need the perfect ideas to come to me. One I have an idea for very soon, though.
Thanks everyone <3

End of the Year UPDATE
Posted 7 years agoSo I might end up updating once more before the end of the year but just in case!
Firstly, sorry for being lacking in uploads. I've been working and drawing less but still regularly, but I haven't been very good at keeping track of uploads. Not that I was ever very good at it lol
So I uploaded a bit today and expect a few more later on this week when I next remember.
This aside, a general update:
My retail job has been taking up most of my time and energy. I barely survived Thanksgiving/Black Friday. It's been an awesome experience and I really enjoy it despite the stresses, so it's not all bad.
But it definitely has taken a toll on my artwork in terms of the amount of work I can take.
My last journal stands more than ever now that commissions will only be accepted through Streams, YCHs, via being mutuals (friends or I know you/you're a past customer I trust, etc.) or random announcements.
At least until next year when I find out if I keep this seasonal job or if I am not kept on. If I'm not kept on I'll revert back to my old batch method.
This is mostly because my webcomic and Patreon are priority. I ran out of buffer and am now playing catch up. It's not fair to my Patreons and it stresses me out.
So any free time I have now is dedicated to comic work and a reasonable handful of commissions until I update otherwise!
There's not much else to say. I'm still producing art despite my lapses in silence and I appreciate your support endlessly! I'm just running ragged on time and bad at remembering things. What's new, eh?
Hope you all have a fantastic holiday season!

Future UPDATES
Posted 7 years agoGreetings everyone! I wanted to wait until I got my first schedule before sharing publicly, but I just got a part-time job so things are going to be a bit different for me art-wise from now on.
I'm projected to only work 25 hours average, but I might take on more hours here and there depending. Regardless, I'll still be able to draw and whatnot as per usual, BUT things will be a lot slower and handled differently.
I need to see how things go before I say anything is for certain, but I'll let everyone know the current situation as of now.
I will work to complete my current commission queue, and after that I will take a break from taking on new batch commissions.
The only ways you will be able to receive commissions from me is if 1. we are mutuals (we follow each other or we are friends), 2. I post YCHs, or 3. I host commission Streams!
The reason I've decided to do this is because I ideally would like to focus the majority of my extra time on my webcomic and building up my Patreon.
I've noticed that since I've taken on more batch commissions, I've been neglecting as much time to these as I was, and it's been a bit stressful playing catch-up.
It's a little frustrating, because I only just began to get a good schedule going with balancing commissions and comic work, but life is what it is.
I'll still be taking commissions one way or another, getting access will just be a little stricter! And who knows, there is more than enough potential that I will open up batches again when I get more comfortable or if I end up not proceeding with the job (since it is only a seasonal position with a 90 day probation period).
So please bear with me as I figure this whole thing out!
(Also, not that anyone would ask or that it really matters, but I'll keep my employment under private wraps for the time being!)
Hope everyone is ready for SPOOPDAY! My birthday is the 25th and sadly I have to work that day, but I'm considering doing a multi-stream with stupidshepherd if I'm feeling up to it/don't have to work one day the following weekend!
So keep an eye out!!

Posted 7 years agoGreetings everyone! This is just a quick journal to let everyone know current situations.
Firstly, my last slot was just taken (so I have a full 10/10 including waitlist) so I am going to officially close commissions for right now!
Instead of filling up the list as I go along, I'm going to wait and get the queue cleared before taking on new offers.
As always, if you are on the waiting list no worries, I won't accept payments until it's time for you to be bumped into the active slots! And I'll contact you when your slot is up :)
In terms of other things, this month has been a big downer. My beloved dog of 15 years passed away this past week, and it's been really hard.
I made a memorial journal for him on my dA if you want to check it out: https://www.deviantart.com/alfafill.....ammy-763188221
All I request, is please do not comment "I relate, my X died too X years ago" because I really do not like those comments, and they usually upset me more.
I've also been a little slower than usual on top of this, because I'm working on 2 tight deadline projects. They're personal ones, but ones I've been working on for several months now and am determined to bring to a conclusion.
Both will be wrapping up around September 20th. After this, I'll only have commissions and my comic to worry about! Phew.
Then, of course, October will bring Inktober, and November will bring NaNoWriMo. So many things!! AHH!
Regardless, I want to thank everyone for their support! Through watching, faving, commenting, our supporting me, you are the best <3
Here is my updated Queue. If you were meant to be included on it and are not, let me know ASAP!

HELP a Friend!
Posted 7 years agoGreetings all!
Wanted to make a little boost journal to direct you towards my good friend
glacierk who is having one hot mess of a month!
She got a sudden nasty case of Carpal, forcing all commission work to come to a halt, but turns out this was merely the start of a new mystery illness they are trying to find an answer to.
On top of medical bills, her landlord is also forcing them to move in the next 2 days.
So she really could use your support, whether through donations or encouraging words!
Please check out this journal here, or read her following journals to get all the updates:
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8851170/
I think I've known her for something like 10 years now, and she is #WORTH IT! ;n; So please check it out or boost!!
Thanks! <3

Commission Status (CLOSED)
Posted 7 years agoGreetings all!
Firstly, thank you to everyone who commissions me/commissioned me in the past! I appreciate you so very much. A year ago I was barely getting any work, now I'm getting steady income coming in. It's amazing to see the growth, and I really have to thank all of you for that!
I used to keep a list of my commissioners on my profile before moving over to Trello, and while I still want to keep Trello as my main source of organization (because keeping multiple queues around on all my sites is exhausting), I wanted to put a very rough batch-list of the queue on a public journal here on FA so it's easier to see at first-glance. I am only doing this here on FA, since the majority of my commissions come from here, but it will include clients from all socials.
Please note, this list is a generalized list, and will not be updated as frequently as the Trello!
To see the exact status of my commission queue, check out the Trello!

https://trello.com/b/t5oQBOIE/alfafillys-queue
https://trello.com/b/t5oQBOIE/alfafillys-queue
I work on 3 Active Slots at a time, in which I alternate work on all 3 at the same time.
Everyone else must be put onto the Waiting List, and as slots open up folks from the waiting list will be added.
Payment is not accepted until you are bumped to the Active Slots.
Commission Queue has a cap of 10 slots (which means, if 10 requests are sitting in the queue--Active and Waiting Lists combined--I cannot add anyone else to it until a slot opens up).
Generalized Queue (11/10/18):
1. Francis362003
2. CoreLocus
3. Anonymous
(If I mistakenly forgot to add you to the Waiting List, do not hesitate to let me know ASAP! If you noted me asking for a quote but did not specify you wanted on the list, I did not include you. So please let me know!)
My turnaround time per-commission averages 3-5 days, however, depending on various factors, they may take upwards of 4 weeks, but no longer.
Make certain to read my ToS before asking for a commission.

If you are interested in being added to the Waiting List, wish to be REMOVED from the list, or simply want a quote or to ask if something is acceptable, feel free to Note Me!

Commissions are OPEN
Posted 7 years agoGreetings all! My commissions are back officially open!
Prices and Queue located here: https://trello.com/b/t5oQBOIE/fillys-to-do-list
My Terms of Service & Will/Won't Draw List: https://sta.sh/01zyidl7em0l
The Info:
Normally I just take commissions as they come along, but since I'm restarting after the move and a handful of folks have inquired, I want to make it fair for everyone and take them under first-come, first-serve.
I will take 3 ACTIVE SLOTS at any given time.
My usual working method is I will do a stage at a time, bouncing through them. (So I'll sketch all 3, then line all 3, then color all 3).
Thus far it's been pretty efficient, so I'll keep doing it this way!
If you miss the ACTIVE SLOTS I will put you in the WAITING LIST.
The waiting list will also be put in order of first-come, first-serve.
As I finish the active slots, folks from the waiting list will be bumped up.
Turnaround time for waiting list can be anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks, depending on where you are in it.
I DO NOT accept payment for anyone in the waiting list until AFTER you get bumped into the active slots!!
With that said, the ACTIVE SLOTS do require payment up front! So if you would like a commission but don't have the funds right away, you can ask to be put into the WAITING LIST! Just be aware, if it's time for you to be bumped up and you can't pay, you will stay in the waiting list until you can!
* * *
REQUESTING:
With all those details out of the way, if you are interested in a commission you may:
NOTE ME here
Telegram me ONLY if you already have my Telegram! Do NOT ask for my Telegram now!!
Discord message me ONLY if you already have my Discord! Do NOT ask for my Discord now!!
DO NOT COMMENT ON THIS POST!! YOUR INQUIRY WILL NOT BE COUNTED!!
I will place people in the queue in order of who inquires first! I'm going to give people a bit of time before I reply to everyone, so don't be worried if you don't get confirmed right away! I'M NOT IGNORING YOU!! I'll reply back in a few hours when I verify everyone's info and all that :)
This is a pretty chill process, so don't get too worried/don't feel the need to hurry! Everyone will get a spot in the queue, your order is just determined by who comments first! If you have any questions you can comment here or note me! c:
Thanks again everyone for your interest! ;v;

Commissions REOPENING Monday
Posted 7 years agoGreetings again everyone!
First things first, I'll be hosting a commission stream TONIGHT (Sunday the 12th) at roughly around 6-7pm Central Standard Time (7-8pm Eastern).
The stream will roll as normal with folks being chosen via raffle if there are more than 3 people interested.
And as always, Patreon folk will get first dibs and discounts (since I don't have a lot of Patreon members atm, I will subtract your monthly tier amount from the final price. So you can get upwards of $15 off if you're in that higher tier!)
Only valid for folks who have been in the Patreon for 1 month's cycle (which is everyone, as I write this!)
This stream won't run as long, and I might only do 1 round, depending. My desk chair is not very comfortable, so I can't sit in it for long periods of time.
This stream will also be a tester for my new internet, to see whether or not it sucks! It's been fine in the past when I've streamed here, buuut there's really no telling.
But if you can't make it to the stream, I will be opening normal commissions publicly Monday night!
I'll put up a journal letting everyone know sometime around 8-10pm Central time. It'll be first-come, first-serve depending on who messages me first (and if you can pay right away. If you can't, I'll move to the next person).
You can NOTE me here on FA or on Telegram if you have me on there (please don't ask for my Telegram at the moment if you don't have it yet).
I don't really get a huge influx of commissioners at one time, so don't really worry too much!
I'm only doing it this way now because I've had more than 3 inquiries the last few weeks and I only work on 3 pieces at a time! So doing it this way makes it fair to everyone!
If you can't happen to snag one of the three active slots, I'll put you in my ordered waitlist! Folks in the waitlist don't pay until they get bumped to an active slot and the order also falls under first-come, first-serve.
Again, I don't get floods so you don't need to panic if you can't make it! My average turn-around time as of late is between 2 days to a week, depending on correspondence speed and complexities.
So if you're in the waitlist, you can expect to be bumped up within a 1-2 week period.
ANYYWAAAY that's long winded! I'll explain everything else in the post.
Until then, all Commission Info can be found here on my Trello:

THE MOVE
Posted 7 years agoGreetings all!
This is just a quick journal to let everyone know that this week and next we will be moving. It's going to be a stretched-out experience, so it's gonna last awhile.
I'm currently projecting that we will be settled in between August 4th thru the 8th and things will begin to resume normalcy around this time. There's a chance I'll be on before this as the move will "end" around August 1st, but just so I have some leeway.
I personally don't wanna stress out about having to check my messages and whatnot all the time while we are moving/having to turn my laptop on a bunch/etc. so I'm not going to really bother.
This said, my commission are closed until at least this time or after. I'll make an announcement when everything is good to go!
For those who read my webcomic, it will be updating normally on my dA.
But mostly, I just wanted to say this so everyone knows what's up if I'm not active! I will be on Twitter plenty, so check me out there if you have any concerns or questions or something.
Wish us luck! <3

General UPDATE
Posted 7 years agoGreetings everyone! I've been a little quiet, so I figured I'd make a quick update journal. I'll keep everything brief.
College
I'm graduating from college (FINALLY) June 2nd. Then I will be an official alumni and no longer have to worry about homework WHOO!
It's been a crazy 7 years between my community college and then SCAD, and I've absolutely loved it and never regretted a thing, but I'm honestly happy it's over with. I'm just ready to move on to the next chapter.
Thanks to my parents' support, I will have minimal student loans to pay back (I think only 2 quarter's worth) so that is a true blessing!
Commissions
Despite graduating on the 2nd, I have to have all of my final work done by May 27th. So things have been rather busy art-wise.
Commissions are going painfully slow, which is not something I like, but I sadly have no choice considering I need to pump out 20 pages of comics for my class (ouch my soul). Once I submit my pages after the 27th I'll be good to go, and will complete my current queue afterward!
Thank so kindly to my current commissioners for being so understanding, especially after the slow-down around FWA on top of it! <3
Moving
To keep a long story short, Pyro and I will be moving end of July when our lease runs out. Sadly, not where we want to go, but where we currently need to be.
We hope the stay won't last much longer than 6 months, but we will play it by ear. So June and July (especially) is gonna be crazy.
We don't have a whole lot of stuff, thankfully, but moving is still moving. I've done it more times than I care to think about and it's never exactly fun.
Misc Art
Somewhere in-between all this, I'll hopefully find the time to do more art! My webcomic is going to be a main priority, and I'm excited to get around to working on it consistently.
Then I also have my fan-related shenanigans I've been doing with BoaF and other such things. But I have ideas I wanna get out, and hopefully I can manage them around the stress and insanity.
That's all for now!

Moving QUESTIONS?
Posted 7 years agoGreetings all! Due to unforeseen circumstances, StupidShepherd and I are going to have to make a move sometime very soon out of state (I might elaborate on this later). But we are both extremely ignorant to how this process works, and we could really use some advice!
I don't really know where to begin on all this, or what kind of information I need to give in order to help. So I'll just ask some general questions and maybe you guys can help us out? We would greatly appreciate it!
We are currently looking to continue renting someplace. And please note, yes I have Googled all of these questions and read a bunch of forums and things. But we'd still really like to hear more personal stories! So please don't link articles to answer questions unless you think they are very beneficial!
What is better to rent, a house or an apartment? What are your personal pros and cons?
Is the application process for renting a house any different than renting an apartment? If so, how?
Have you ever looked for a place out-of-state? Do you have any advice on how to go about this?
We plan on visiting the place and looking at stuff ourselves at some point, but we'd still be doing it mostly remotely, and neither of us have really had to do that before (any time I've looked for places it was local).
What are some general tips and tricks you can personally give on finding a place?
When I've looked in the past, our priority was asking about crime rates in the area, but I'd like to know if there's other very important questions to ask or things to look for.
What is the best, most affordable way to move? (long-distance)
Rent a Uhaul? Just make a bunch of trips in cars over an extended period? Hire professional movers?
Do you have any horror stories you can tell?
Any extremely good stories?
And lastly:
Does anyone here live in/have lived/visit Virginia? Specifically the Roanoke/Blacksburg/etc. area?
This is one place we are looking at/around, and any personal experiences about it help lots.
Think that's all I can think of at the moment. We are extremely stressed about this news, and any words of wisdom will really do us wonders!
Thanks everyone in advance!

BACK to Routine
Posted 7 years agoFWA is over and I'm back and settling in! We had a really great time, and I'm already excited for next year!
That being said, things should go back to normal here fairly soon. I'm giving myself this week to settle back in (and get over the post con depression fff) so that I can resume my schedule with school work, the student film I'm helping on, and then commissions currently in my queue. I'm still accepting new commissions, but I won't be setting up any slots until at least next week. Just in case anyone was curious!
Also, expect some art uploaded this week one day. I'm super behind on posting some things here... plus I gotta upload FWA commissions too!
Hope everyone's doing well!

Commissions ON HOLD
Posted 7 years agoGreetings peeps!
Just a quick update, but I'm putting my commissions on hold until after I return from FWA and settle in, so ETA sometime after April 9th. I'll be spending all this weekend and upcoming week working on school things and current queue stuff so I have no time to take on new work. Just so ya know!
This is just for new stuff, of course. Stuff currently being worked on is fine! No biggies there.
Just wanted to make a formal journal in case anyone sees it on my page and gets confused.
Thanks, everyone! See ya at FWA if you're going~
