Interest in Custom Figurines/Statuettes?
General | Posted 11 years agoJust seeing if anybody might buy some plastic figure commissions in the future. It'd take a decent investment on my part to start doing them, but it seems like loads of fun. They'd be kinda pricey, especially if I had to design them from the ground up. Gotta figure that's a turn around drawing, 3D model, and then the plastic item itself plus being painted, but it's not everyday you can get a custom figure. Let me know what you guys think. :)
And now, a Chris Rock quote:

And no matter what a stripper tells you,

Thank you, and good night.

General | Posted 12 years agoI Got a New Job
General | Posted 12 years agoHey guys! Sorry I've been so absent on here lately. I got a new job and I'm just starting to get used to the hours. I had an uncomfortably long dry spell when it comes to employment, so this is a very welcome change. It's tedious office work, but I don't mind it. Scanning documents, moving around files and file cabinets, exciting shit like that.
I also only just recently found my scanner's power cable after I moved in October. I know! Trust me, I know. I just have very very limited space here so unloading boxes and getting rid of stuff has been a really really slow process.
But the point is that I should be able to submit more traditional work again. I've been getting a tad burnt out on digital work. That being said, is there any specific material you guys would like to see me focus on for the next couple of images?

Sorry, gotta vent about Touch Screens and Software Devs
General | Posted 12 years agoI have resisted getting a touch screen cell phone for as long as possible. I have calluses on my fingers and poor blood flow to my hands so many touch screens just thought I was not a living thing or object suitable for using the rest of the device. I was happy with buttons, but my old 2006-2007ish phone had become a complete pile of shit (never was as good as my prior flip phone, but it was free) and my plan had it to where I could upgrade to an iPhone 4s for $1.
I said fuck it. I've had better luck with their screens than any others and I've playing with the idea of making iOS games anyway. So I get it today and it's pretty cool. The screen has great resolution, the build quality seems decent, and the screen was even reacting to my cold dead hands.
One problem, it's pretty much refusing to be the Phone part. Every time I'd try to make a call a message from my provider... let's call them FuckMerizon. So I figure, okay, it doesn't like my WiFi for configuring or whatever, I forget, anyway, I plug it in to my computer and it tells me my iTunes (version 10) is too old. Fuck me.
"Why are you so hesitant to get the new version of iTunes?" one might ask. iTunes was once a great piece of software that was simple, easy to use, and generally great for archiving your digital media collection. Then they updated it. Again. And Again. And Again.
It has become a fat slug of its former self. All the features are their still, it's just bogged down by a bunch of useless shit that I never wanted. It used to hover around 100MB, which is still pretty hefty but I'm willing to put up with it. Now it's 229.6MB of the same thing now with hidden buttons and features of old and new "Let me choose your music for you" features that I try to hide away as soon as I see them.
Yes that looks like a small amount on a 500GB-2TB hard drive, but it adds up quick, especially if you're making/editing videos and other visual media. God damn it Software Developers, stop hiding the fucking buttons and making your applications fucking huge! Photoshop need not be 400+ MB! Flash hasn't had any actual updates in years and yet it managed to beef up past 250MB! And just flat out fuck After Effects for 635MB gone for a render time that makes Maya's mentalray look good! Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where's the Tylenol...
The iPhone's pretty cool, though.

Sorry, I Moved...again
General | Posted 12 years agoI've been away for a while. Sorry about that. I'll be posting more once I get my computer desk set up. I'm moving into a much smaller space so it's taking a while to sort through what I'm keeping around and what I'm getting rid of. I'll be able to enter my submission for the Team Acorn Halloween contest, it just might be a little bit into the week. It's a pain to have to move, but there's some nice things about it. I'm closer to family and closer to the beach. I'm also closer to Portland, where I think I could make a decent living. It may take a while, but I think this will end up being a good thing.
Thanks for continuing to dig on my art and whatnot. You guys rock!

Quick Note to those adding me on their Chat/Yahoo
General | Posted 12 years agoYou may want to send an email or a note on here to make sure I answer back because I get a lot of spam "be my friend" messages through my Yahoo account that I just automatically decline. If I declined your friend request in the past, I'm sorry and please try again with a note and I'd gladly have you on my chat, as long as you don't turn into an asshole on me. Gotta warn you up front, I like vulgar, inappropriate humor, so if you're easily offended you may want to turn back now.
I'm gonna try starting up Commissions again. Any interest?
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm working on a few demo pieces to show what I'd charge for what and what general finished pieces would look like and all that.
Does anyone have any interest in such things? I'm just asking so that I know how much time to put in all this.
My PS painting is rough and scratchy like my Gut Bass picture, but I also do Illustrator/Vector work so I can do clean looking images. I'm much more of a stylized sort of artist, so please consider someone else for more realistic looking renderings.
I do Flash animation as well. I wouldn't want to take on too big of projects in Flash, but I'm sure I could do short clips and loops fine.
I can also do 3D work, but the pricing and stuff I'm willing to do may get a little complicated. I use Maya and am experience with modeling, rigging, animation, texturing, basic cell shading/toon shading, and basic mental ray rendering and lighting. Just know that I'm still a bit virgin to the whole commission business.
Thanks for any input you guys have. I'll have those sample images up sometime. I'm also working on the second episode of BearHog Gaming(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R54kcsz-zLw) at the moment so the sample images may take a backseat.

Hey! We made a Video Game Show!
General | Posted 12 years agoIn case you didn't see the submission with all the info, here's the scoop.
Me and my pal made a let's play with some animated jokes and stuff. It's nothing horribly impressive, but it was fun to make and hopefully fun to watch. Here it is if you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R54kcsz-zLw.
If you like it, we'll make more. Otherwise we're working on some offensive cartoons so there'll be something else on the way. Later folks! Thanks for reading!

Name 3 Video Game Character Crossovers
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm feeling dirty, so go ahead and name some. No guarantees that I'll get to yours, but yeah.
Wow, that's a lot of watchers!
General | Posted 13 years agoI never really noticed how many watchers I had on here before. 149; I know it's not a ton compared to the greats on this site, but still more than I was expecting to see. You guys rock! Thanks for being even remotely interested in me for all this time. I'm going to start submitting a lot more frequently, not just because of this revelation but also because I want to stop sucking. Thanks again folks!
I'd love to see this idea come true
General | Posted 13 years agohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5lfI-lLDRQ
God dammit, that's exactly what I've been wanting for years. It would truly eliminate a truck load of pains in the asses of animators and motion graphic specialists. Drawing in Flash is like drawing on a Whiteboard, while it's fun and fast, it's also messy and inaccurate. Animating in Photoshop is as slow and unintuitive as it gets, but those drawing tools and layer options are fantastic. After Effects has some great tools for video effects and editing, but the only way to use it for good looking character animation (that doesn't drive you insane and take too long to make) is to use some other software and import it as an image sequence or video file. While I do think it's unlikely that Adobe would make it happen, I'd love to see anybody give it a try at this point.

Do you know a good hard rock band with a female lead singer?
General | Posted 13 years agoPreferably one who puts some rasp in her voice, at least every now and again. I'm looking for a little variety in my music collection and I don't have much for good female rock vocalists. I'm trying to avoid stuff like Evanescence; not that there's anything wrong with them or that style. I guess you could say I'd want them to fit in with the likes of Ronnie James Dio or Johnny Gioeli.
Thanks for your help as always guys.

Something Seems off with the Paypal Policy Update

I Finally Caved and Got a PS3
General | Posted 13 years agoYep. They just barely got cheap enough and I barely got weak enough to buy yet another motherboard wrapped in plastic. As many of you know I collect video game consoles and the Playstation 3 has evaded my collection for quite a while. The console was too old for me to justify paying $300+ for it. After a while I noticed all the extra work being put into exclusives for it and I decided that if it dropped below the price that I bought the Wii for brand new (odd rule, I know) then I'd grab one. Granted, it had to be used because Sony has always had a hard time dropping console prices, but it's in good enough shape that I don't feel ripped off.
I'm happy with it. It seems well built; has free online play with many games; uses the dollars instead of points in its marketplace; and best of all I can use my Sega Saturn USB controller adapter on it with most games. I can't tell you how awesome it feels to play Sonic Generations with a Saturn controller. Even the 3D parts feel good with it. At the moment I only have Sonic Generations, Heavy Rain, and a bunch of demos. Playstation Home is fun to dick around with, too. I plan on getting the Yakuza games, God of War III, Little Big Planet, Valkyria Chronicles, Virtua Fighter 5 (will also be awesome with the Saturn Controller), the new Sly Cooper after it comes out and drops in price, and some others I can't think of off the top of my head.
Well I have the holy trinity now; the Underpowered Wii, the 5 times Broken Xbox 360, and the Overpriced PS3. ;P Remember to keep light hearted about such things. All consoles are piles of shit in their own ways. Except for the Vectrex. That piece of perfection has escaped my grasp all too many times.
Oh yeah, I also graduated from college like 2 or 3 weeks ago. Bachelor of Science in Media Arts and Animation.
I should be posting very soon. Take care y'all!

General | Posted 14 years agoYep. I was talked into it for the Team Fortress 2 and got Spiral Knights as a bonus. It's nice having a computer that isn't a total pile of shit so I can play games like this for once.
On another note, would you guys rather have another Photoshop painting or a small animation?

Midterms and Pick One...
General | Posted 14 years agoHey, just got done with midterms week so that's why I haven't kept up on the submissions for a couple days. I'll make up for it this weekend.
On an unrelated note: Gloves, T-shirt, or dress? Just pick one. You need no reference.

Does anyone here own a Mac Mini/cheap Mac?
General | Posted 14 years agoI'm just curious as to how they handle Adobe software like Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects. I'm not as worried about Photoshop and Illustrator as I am with Flash and After Effects. Also I'm curious as to how they handle Maya and other Autodesk 3D software. I've been looking into them for a while now just because I've wanted to get a hold of a cheap Mac that will last fairly long.
I've had PCs all my life and I only got introduced to Macs the last couple years through my school. I tend to work a lot better with Macs especially in regards to Adobe programs. I have yet to try Maya on a Mac but I'm guessing it isn't much different. The only reason I haven't gotten a Mac by now is the price. I need one less than $1000 which I know pretty much limits me to the Minis, but if they run the software well and don't break terribly fast then I'd be happy to try one out.
Thanks for any help.

Rule 34 Posting and Misunderstandings
General | Posted 14 years agoJust so you guys know, I never post anything to the Rule 34 site. I don't care that people post my stuff on there as long as it's characters that don't belong to me (which all of it that I've seen is my old fan art).
But that's not really why I brought it up. I started reading the comments on a couple of the images and some of you guys are defending the fuck out of me. If any of you are reading this, thanks! I really don't find any of the negative comments offensive so much as they are laughable, but it is cool that a handful of folks are willing to defend my work (even my poor quality stuff) in my absence. It's just interesting to view all this at a site where I have done nothing.
One of the comments talks about me tracing a piece done by Nancher(http://www.furaffinity.net/user/nancher). At first I was like "Pffff, whatever, I never trace," but then I checked out Nancher's gallery and one of the pictures of Shadow and Rouge is really quite similar. I feel like I subconsciously stole the idea now. I honestly hadn't seen Nancher's pic before I made mine, but I still wonder if I should take it down to avoid any problems. Let me know what you think about it.
And sorry I haven't posted in quite some time. I'll try to get you a good handful of stuff this week. Maybe even some animation.

What Fairy Tale should I fuck with?
General | Posted 15 years agoI want to fuck around with a fairy tale and possibly animate it. Nursery rhymes will work, too. I'm leaning toward making it really violent more than anything. So yeah, drop me some feedback on that.
I think we should celebrate Halloween again this time of year. Maybe mix it with Valentines day or some shit.

Gettin Cold
General | Posted 15 years agoIt's gettin cold, so try to get bold and not act so old then you will behold a mountain of gold where they say "Please hold," and the paper you fold will go off to be rolled and it shall be told and the people get polled so their stock can be sold cause the basement has mold and FUCK it's cold!
Nerd Venting
General | Posted 15 years agoI'm a total loser for this, but dammit I have to do it.
I heard that they were reopening my favorite Play N Trade store so I went to check it out today. I walk in and there's a lot more "new" stuff out than before (new for me meaning PS2 and newer). But that's fine, a lot of people aren't selling much for classics these days, so I check out what classics they have.
After checking out row after row of Bayou Billy on NES as well as a few very beaten up and over priced Dreamcast and Playstation games, I turn my attention to a glass case containing consoles for sale as well as little notes on the consoles. I start to read the Dreamcast note and it stated that it was "the second console to use CD-ROM." I turn away from it and look at a timeline stating "Other stores think they're too cool for the classics, but not us!" and on the timeline I notice that they put the PS2 before the Dreamcast and states that the PS2 came out in 1999.
The Playstation 2 was released March 4, 2000 in Japan and October 26, 2000 in the US while the Dreamcast was released November 27, 1998 in Japan and September 9, 1999 in the US.
Now for the list of consoles to use CD-Rom before the Dreamcast:
1988 NEC PC Engine CD-Rom(1990 Turbo Grafx CD)
1991 NES Turbo Duo
1991 Sega Mega CD(1992 Sega CD)
1992 Philip's CD
1993 Panasonic 3DO
1993 Amiga CD 32
1994 Sega Saturn
1994 Sony Playstation
1994 SNK Neo Geo CD
1995 Atari Jaguar CD
1995 FM Towns Marty
1995 Bandai Playdia
1996 Bandai Pippin
Second, huh? Did Doc Brown have anything to do with that?
I feel better now. And no I don't take it that seriously, I just have fun showing how "professionals" fuck up.

The Kiss concert kicked monumental ass.
General | Posted 15 years agoI have been a bit of a Kiss fan since I was 11 years old or so. It never reached a fanatic level, I had a few albums and the Psycho Circus game on Dreamcast, but that was the extent of it. I thought I knew what to expect cause I had seen them on TV, listened to their music, and read about them many times. I knew nothing.
This is by far the best concert I have ever been to. To start with, the audience was a part of this city I have never seen in such a mass. A range from children to big biker dudes to little old ladies with oxygen tanks and Peter Chris face paint (not even kidding). I went with my dad who had been a Kiss fan for years before but never had gone to a concert. 2 bands played before them then the stage was cleared and the big KISS sheet went up.
The lights went out, the sheet dropped, then the voice screamed "You wanted the best! You got the best! The hottest band in the world, Kiss!" And the stage lit up with fire and explosions as a mechanical tray brought band out to the front stage. What then proceeded was a 3 to 4 hour sensory overload. The guys' playing and singing was right on and the visuals were mind blowing. I usually don't sing along or clap with songs, but Paul Stanley pointed and told me to, so I did and it was a blast. By the time it was over I had looked down to realize that the whole line of people had moved back about 6 feet. And these were the cheap seats.
I really don't mean to be dramatic, but damn. It really made my day (and probably my year) and it gave me some fond memories to attach to this city.
