this should actually go on my personal account, but uhh....there are more people watching this one XD so here's the story: as in the past two years, myself and orlalil are running the artist alley at a local convention, UBcon. this year, we have a super ambitious con director who wants to make everything as awesome as possible, and one of the things we decided on was to make FAQs that can be used for years to come for con in general, as well as for the alley specifically. the issue with this is....i can't actually think of anything to put in it. we get a lot of questions and a lot of things come up, and i'm just completely blanking, so i'm sending a shout-out to all you artists out there who have tabled at cons or have looked into it, to help us make our FAQ!

what should be included for an official Artist Alley/Dealers Den FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)? any suggestions you have or links to other Alley/Den FAQs would be awesome and helpful!

i'm just curious: are y'all getting sick of sketches/colored sketches yet? i hope you're not, but i feel it's possible that you are. at the moment, i can't really offer anything else except quick small things because i have these over due commissions (i promise i'm trying to get them done and feel super incredibly cripplingly awful and ashamed that they're not done yet), but i don't want anyone to get bored either. so i was just wondering what opinions were on the sketches. i like doing them. do you like seeing/getting/buying them?

while i'm working on those uber-late commissions, i have a question! should i do anything special for Halloween here on FA? if so, what? last year i was doing colored sketch commissions, so i could do something like that, or a YCH or two, or character auctions, oooorrrr ideas of ways to draw my own characters Halloweenified! all the options! i just can't decide! halp meh!

i am not! but i might as well be x.x i've been really busy lately for some reason, and i'm dealing with a lot of things mentally, things holding me back, slowing me down, taking away my will to do things...anything. my shame for not having my commissions done keeping them in my mind and creating this terrible cycle, but keeping me working on them at the same time, if even very slowly. i feel so bad about them. so very very bad. i don't even know. oh well....pretty much just popped in to say i'm not dead, but that things will continue to be slow i guess. i'm really sorry. i have no excuses. i don't know what's up v.v

i just want to say, that....you guys are awesome. all of you. all you people who watch and fave and comment and commission and come to streams, any combination of any of that. it's because of you all that i'm here, that i'm still drawing and still loving it, that i'm able to pay for school and food and even some fun stuff. sometimes things are tight and tough to get through emotionally and monetarily, and i know i can be slow with the delivery of art, but i never forget about you all and i try to keep working and keep things coming and entertaining for you. i wish i knew how to do more of that to make your stay as a watcher and supporter more enjoyable. i don't think i say it enough or do enough to show it, but i truly do love and appreciate all of your support in any way that you do it. i love drawing for you, i love sharing with you, i hope you love it too. thanks for being here. thank you.

hi everyone! glad FA's back!

i'm going to start out on a kind of "meh" note that my mom of all people brought up, with a reminder: it is against my Terms of Service to alter or edit any of my art in ANY WAY, even if it's a commission done for you, with the exception of making an icon out of it!! i try very hard to make everything to any and all specifications that you want/need, from content to character details to any included text, so nothing should need to be altered anyway. if it needs to be altered at any time, ask me and i'll probably do it with no problem. if you PLAN on altering it, let me know when you order it if there are any special circumstances and i'll let you know if it's okay/we'll work something out. if i ask you if everything's okay with it, and you say yes even though it's not, that's not an excuse to alter it. it's still against my ToS and therefor not okay.

okay, now, anyway! the second part of the journal! i hate art block. i really do. with a burning fiery passion. i haven't been able to draw anything decent in a week and a half, with the exception of cute sketches of Nix and Kitty XD and even those take way too much time and effort to get right. so i draw one of those and it turns out well and i get to thinking maybe i can draw again....so i try to draw something else and it sucks -.- it's really annoying. i cannot apologize enough to my poor waiting commissioners who are being so very wonderful and patient. i don't know what's going on here, i really don't. i'm going to spend this weekend trying to get my drawing skills back when i'm not working on homework and stuff. hopefully it'll work. ugh.

hi everyone!

first of all, i wanted to apologize for not having a stream tonight; i know i said i probably would. turns out my mom had jury duty today and that means that, though she was only 3 blocks from my school, she didn't have her car and couldn't come get me so i didn't have a ride home after class (and also i couldn't just walk over to wear she was and chill there, cuz....jury duty). coincidentally, my friend texted me in the middle of classes and asked if i wanted to come over, so that's where i was all evening and i just now got home.

second! remember that "raising money for textbooks" thing? i was actually being all prepared and making sure i could buy them - and you guys were being amazing and helping! well...i just had all the rest of my classes today for the first time, and it turns out that i don't actually need any books this semester x.x either they're not required, or i already have them. but! fear not! the funds that i was raising will not be wasted! they will be transferred to my savings for books and tuition for the next semester. so it's still going to be super helpful and still used for school ^_^ so thank you to those who got sketches for giving me a head start on that!

what does this mean for the sketch list i was keeping? well i'm going to keep the list. if people still want the sketches, i'll most certainly do them because i do need the money and i love making art for you all! so i will continue to stream them as normal, but i probably won't take any more at the moment because it's not a dire need like i thought it was, and my time will be devoted to the current sketches and my overdue commissions. if you wanted to be on the list and aren't sure if i marked you down, feel free to ask and i'll check.

hi everyone!

so! school starts on tuesday (sept 3rd)! oh god, i am so not prepared. i mean, i guess there isn't much to be prepared for - i just have to go to class - but you know mentally i'm not prepared. where this summer as gone, i don't even know. though i suppose that's the case with all summers *le sigh*

i'm ALSO not quite prepared as far as commissions go. i wanted to get them done by the time school started. at the time, that was TOTALLY reasonable and doable....but, of course, life got in the way in various ways and i got incredibly slowed down. now, i've got 7 left - 2 of which are just need to be shaded and 1 of which shouldn't take too long. as always, i'm going to finish them as soon as my schedule/life allows. don't worry, i haven't forgotten about anyone, and if any of my commissioners have any questions/comments/concerns, feel free to email (NixRayne[at]gmail.com, you should all still have a thread from the original commission email i sent you) or note me.

i still need most of the money for next semester's tuition, as well as food (as always), and a few other things that should be revealed in the not-too-distant future, so i can't go too much longer without opening more commissions. this is of course, motivation to finish the owed ones faster (not sacrificing quality, no worries), but i also have 3 your-character-here pictures waiting to be posted, a bunch of characters to be drawn out and sold to new homes, some cool little hatchable adoptables, and i'm thinking about holding a couple sketch/chibi-sketch streams as well if anyone's interested in any of those things. i'm just waiting to feel more secure in my current queue before i add any more to it.

hi everyone!

i just want to say a little thing about notes. this isn't about anything or anyone specific, it's just a thing that happens. please only send me notes if it's important. i don't mean to make myself seem unapproachable, because i certainly love talking to my watchers and friends. that's one of the main reasons i have livestreams often! notes just make me really nervous. whenever i see a new note pop up, my anxiety levels spike so high that sometimes my breath catches for a second and i have a legit moment of panic. i always worry that's it's going to be about something bad, or some drama, or something like that. now, 90% of the time it's NOT. but it's just like why i hate talking on the phone; i never know what's going to happen, and it freaks me out. ugh, anxiety problems >.<

now if you have a question/comment/concern, whether it's about me or a commission or commissions in general or....i dunno what, or if it IS something bad like someone stealing my art or something - anything like that - that's perfectly fine. i'm not saying "don't note me at all under any circumstances, ever" cuz then i'd just turn my notes off and that would be mean.

i'd rather not get notes that just say "hi"/"hey"/"how are you?" things like that. notes aren't an instant messenger service (and it annoys me when people start conversations just like that on messenger too. there's just nothing really to say to something that short). i also find it difficult when people note me and want to have LONG back and forth conversations. it's hard for me to keep on topic when it's over a long period of time (especially when it gets longer/delayed because i get busy), and it also brings back that terrible anxiety every time i see that new note.

the last kind of note i really don't like getting are the ones asking about rp, and/or if i'm in a relationship. first of all, i don't rp, especially in adult settings. second, it's no one's business if i'm in a relationship unless i happen to mention it, and saying "hey, do you have a boyfriend?" to someone you've never so much as talked to before can easily be construed as creeper-ish. plus, it clearly says on my profile "please keep all of your creepy murry-purry/overly-forward/any-kind-of-advances away from me please, whether RP or otherwise. i'm not interested"

BUT! ANYWAY! i just wanted to say that. asking me questions and sending me notes is fine, just please try to make sure it's important. if you want to talk to me, i would prefer it be in a livestream. i am very sorry if this sounded mean or harsh in any way, as i didn't mean for it to at all, and i hope that everyone understands ^_^

i can't take this. i swear. remember that last journal where i said i was attacked by a spider, so i'm scared to go over and work at my desk? well just about 20 minutes ago, there was one of those creepy silverfish/house centipede/whatevertheyare things ON MY BED. it got away, then i found it and killed it, but i can't take this. now i'm not going to sleep tonight, and i'm all paranoid. this is aweful. sometime this week or next weekend, i'm going to have to get someone to help me thoroughly clean out and rearrange my room (granted, my room is really pretty clean and organized, but i'm not taking any chances here). i'm horribly arachnophobic, but really, the more legs something has then the more scared i am of it. so THESE things....i just can't. i'm so freaked out. i wish i could go over to a friend's house tonight cuz there's no way i'm going to be able to sleep in my room, but they're all asleep now >.< i'm scared to be in my room at all at this point, but i don't trust being out in the livingroom all night either. i think tomorrow though, i'm going to end up drawing out there on the couch so that i don't have to be in my room/at my desk. i just can't draw there on the weekends cuz my mom would get freaked out by all the...."questionably rated content" that i draw. but anyway. gonna go back to freaking out and wishing my friends were awake to take me away from here... *curls up and quivers*

EDIT: OH MY GOD THERE WAS ANOTHER ONE!!!!!! IT WAS ACROSS THE ROOM ON THE FLOOR AND NOT ON MY BED, BUT STILL!!! MY ROOM IS BEING TAKEN OVER BY BUGS!!!! I HATE SUMMER!!!!! (it is now dead also)

but last night when i was drawing at my desk, i was attacked by a spider, and i'm horribly arachnophobic so i'm now i'm scared to go sit at my desk and draw more >.< i killed the thing, and there shouldn't be more, but i dunno where it came from and it was ON ME and i just.....i just.... *curls up and stares at desk warily*

imma just keep this short and sweet. i REALLY wanted to get a LOT of work done this weekend, but then my body decided to give me a big "FUCK YOU" and i've barely been able to get out of bed since i woke up yesterday, and i didn't sleep at all last night because the pain wouldn't go away. i'll leave it at that to avoid TMI-ing you all, but i feel reallyreally bad cuz i wanted to be really productive.....i'm just praying this goes away ASAP so i can move, let alone art *such a bad artist*

so i just got back from my trip to the beach a couple hours ago (just writing this now because i JUST finished going through all the build up submissions and messages on DA and FA XD). it was fun! i got slightly sunburned and my butt hurts from biking, lol, but it was fun. i'm really tired now so i'll probably take tonight to chill and get some real sleep, but tomorrow i'll probably be back to work on commissions! i'm going to try to build up all the ambition and motivation that i can, so i can get them all done awesomely! and before school starts. i'm really excited to work on them, and i feel terribly that i've been so slow! so let's do this!
