Art Focus Change
Posted 14 years agoRecently I've had epiphanies regarding what direction I want to take my art to. My AP Art history course has provided a look into the way art has gone in the past and where we stand today in contemporary art. Seeing all the differing viewpoints has most definitely inspired and altered the way I view art.
Simply, I want my art to have meaning. Most of my works that I have posted are just character designs and concepts, but I want to do more. I feel art is very much about the idea behind.
My ideas have been stale, and two-dimensional in the art that I have posted.
Through the summer and as I attend Art College, I hope that my style will expand into something that is pleasing to look at and become a puzzle to be solved.
Don't know why I made this journal. Maybe to get things down on paper to help formulate what I really think. I don't know.
This will be an interesting ride with experimentation.

Looking for Art Trades
Posted 14 years agoI've been thinking about doing a couple of these.
Would anyone want to do an art trade with me?

Ze Memes!
Posted 14 years agoFor my Monday Night streaming I'll be willing to fill out a meme LIVE. The problem is, I need some ideas.
If you find or know of an interesting art meme, could you comment, tell me about it, and link me to it?
I will pick the one the most people pile on and want me to do, or I will pick the one that I like the most if no one is enthusiastic about a particular meme.
Thank You, and see you Monday Night at 10PM EST!

Monday Night Streaming.
Posted 14 years agoI've decided to do art streaming once a week on Mondays from 10PM EST to 11:30 or 12 EST. Because people should hate Mondays less!
I might make it twice a week, but nothing is set in stone quite yet.

Feb. 4 Streaming
Posted 14 years agoStream over. Check back for more info on the next streaming date.
Streaming!
Posted 14 years agoSTREAMING NOW!
But I will be on Thursday the 3rd (that's tomorrow) from around 10 PM EST and stopping around 11:45PM - Midnight.
During this session I will try to finish the painting I was working on in my last stream and then start on the request I owe to Sleek.
Additionally, I will most likely be streaming Friday the 4th as well at which time I will continue to work on requests that I owe people and maybe do some quick sketches from the audience. This stream will also start at 10:00PM, but will go on for as long as I can.
The link for the stream is here: http://www.livestream.com/alnixartistry
I hope to see people come and watch! Good music will be played, I promise.

November 2010 Comment
Posted 15 years agoY'know. I just decided that the previous journal shouldn't be shown on there anymore since it has been a year since I last wrote a journal.
Anyways, I was thinking about doing a monthly journal on things that I found interesting in the last month. So I'll see how well it goes.
Quirkology. My god, an amazing book. Richard Wiseman is the author and not only does he write an interesting, yet informative, book on quirky psychology (hence the title,) he also has an epic blog and YouTube channel. If you're into psychology or fun facts, go to your local library and see if they have it.
Halloween wasn't really that good this year. I didn't carve a pumpkin , and I was working that day. On the upside, a music/comic store had just opened in the mall that I work at. My manager let me have the last 15 minutes off to go check it out. I came back two days later and bought the Black Clouds and Silver Linings Dream Theater T-shirt. That makes three stores in that mall that I am actually interested in: Game Stop, the Apple Store, and the Rock Shop (music/comics). :-P
Art. Other than being slow on creating anything, I am taking a comic/manga drawing course for school. My teacher is absolutely amazing! I love his teaching style, and I am really learning a lot. It also helps that I can ask him to look over my art portfolio and tell me what I am doing wrong. XD
So there is a piece of my life, and I really think my writing lacks emotion, but that could just be me.

Posted 16 years agoWell here is my little rant I have every year, but more so this year because of the promptness of all this Christmas decorating.
It seems every year the Thanksgiving holiday gets overshadowed by the "joy" of Christmas. The day after Halloween, out go the skeletons, brains, ghosts, and ghouls and in with the wreaths, Santa, trees, lights, and mistletoe.
Don't get me wrong, every year I look forward to Christmas, and the way it brings my family close, but commercialization has taken over. After the candy sales of Halloween, we need to sell all these decoration, games, and presents for Christmas before Thanksgiving has even past.
Oh how much of the true joy is in the presents? My family bought each other less presents last year, and you know what? It was the best Christmas ever!
I am sick and tired of all the Christmas decorations lighting up in November. Set them up before then, I don't really care. But at least have the decency to let Thanksgiving pass before flipping the ON switch!
The same goes for radio and television. Radio stations play Christmas tunes before Thanksgiving has passed. NOW WE GET A FEW MORE WEEKS TO GET SICK OF "JINGLE BELLS" ALL OVER AGAIN! And TV! Having the "Here is a bunch of Christmas movies to countdown to the 25 Days 'Till Christmas Marathon" just seem to be more than a little annoying.
Thanksgiving is supposed to be for giving thanks, and all this Christmas advertising before December seems to be a shove in the face to the Founding Fathers. "Oh hey! We're grateful that you helped provide a foundation to build the United States on, but Christmas makes more money! So we're just going to ignore this holiday that marks an important part of US history! Bai!"
In conclusion, I am well aware that Christmas should not be overshadowed by Thanksgiving either and that it is a very important holiday religiously. But still. Can we wait to turn off our energy consuming lights until December 1st? Please?
(To anyone that does not celebrate Christmas or Thanksgiving, I do not mean to disrespect you, though this really shouldn't I don't think...)

Post Haloween
Posted 16 years agoThis Halloween sucked. I walked with my friend to watch over his little brother and his little brother's friend go trick-or-treating. It started to rain, we all got soaked, and we spent three hours making characters for Dungeons & Dragons that we played for maybe ten minutes...
So yeah, today is bound to be much better. Let's just say this Halloween was the blandest I've ever had. We did watch Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior which was a pretty good movie.
And, I didn't make a Halloween art piece... so I'm slightly pissed at my procrastination problem...
And I'm not as pissed as I sound.
