Yellowstone National Park animal list 2013
Posted 12 years agoThis is from my 2013 trip to Yellowstone National Park, and the animals I got to see when I was there. Along with a few stories of when we were watching them.
July 2013
Day 1
We were driving in parts of the park to get to our hotel, and saw some wildlife that ives in the area.
-Osprays
-Elk
-Mountain Blue Bird
-Magpie
Day 2
-Elk
-5 Pronghorn
-Bison
-Mule Deer
-6 wolves
In Lamar Valley most likely Junction Wolf pack. Some of these wolves were from the Mollie wolf pack that is now mostly broken up.
-4 Grizzly Bear
-1 was a cub that was a few months old, along with a sow (a female bear) with it. Also close by a possible male bear or a female with a cub. A maybe a fourth bear of unknown gender. This was all in the the same location and was also in the same location as the wolves.
-Bald Eagle
This eagle was about a year old, still having a brown head instead of white they have brown heads for the first few years of life. These eagles hatch around March.
-Canda Goose
I foundout that saying Canadian Goose is not the right term, once these birds make no origian from Canada. For the bird would need to come from that area to be called Canadian.
-Ground Squirrel
-Badger
We got the chance to stay with this rare Badger for about 20 mins. He was hunting and almost got a bird, but started digging til we think he got something and ran into the brush.
-Golden eye
-2 wolves
-The first wolf we saw was a femal nickednamed Spitfire who is my fav wolf in the park. She hung around a little than ran off , and it was her year old brother that crossed the road only to be scared by fishers and cross the road again and run into the hills. We saw him looking down into the valley trying to figure out how to get past the people. Wolves by nature hate people. His number is M859 a collered wolf. Both wolves are from the Lamar Pack.
-Mountain Goats 3 adults 1 baby
Babies are normally born around June st.
-Cliff hanger bird
-1 Black Bear about 6 -7
A black bear can live for about 12 - 15 years.
- Wolf Spitfire
We saw her running along a beach and than she layed down on the bank.
-Red Tail Hawk
We found many trees that had rub marks on them from bison and other animals.
Day 3
-Mountain goats
Found by Golden fgate cliffs, they are a none native species of animal introduced in 1950.
-elk
- -Sandhill crane
We saw this bird at Swanlake around 5:30 - 6:00 am.
-bison
-1 bull elk
This elk was about a 6 point elk.
-bison herd
Bison are born around May 1st
-3 Grizzly bear
One cub about 2 years old and its mother.
-Mountain blue bird
-4 Pelican
There are about 4,000 bison in Yellowstone National Park.
-Blue Herrige
-Bald Eagle
-Raven
-Grizzly
-Black bear
-Bighorn Rams
Day 4
-Canada Goose
-Blackbird
-Crow
-Raven
-bison
-Elk
-Mule Deer
-Grizzly Bear
-Pronghorn
-Bald Eagle (Lamar)
-Canada Goose and babies
-Ospray

Yellowstone trip 7-11-13
Posted 12 years agoI leave Thur for my week long Yellowstone trip. I can't wait to get out there, even if I am going to be out there next month for school. SO SO SO EXCITED. Can't wait to post pics.
New star Binks
Posted 12 years agoBinks is my new Bengal kitten he's only 8 weeks old. We adopted him after our last cat Webster had to be put to sleep. He's a little trouble marker but that's okay cause he fits in with me and Hunter.
RIP Webster
Posted 12 years agoToday I finished my last class till school starts up in Aug, but now today sucks cause I have to put my cat to sleep. I had her since she was a kitten and it just really sucks. She has been going down hill for the last few weeks, but I thought she would get through it. We've always done everything to make sure that she was healthy. But now I find myself unable to hold back the tears of losing a member of the family.
RIP Webster
RIP Webster
July Trip
Posted 12 years agoHey guys I'm going back to Yellowstone in July. I'm so excited to be going back to Yellowstone, but it's going to be harder to find wolves with the wolf hunts that took place this year. But it'll be lots of fun, and hopefully I'll get lots of new pics of the native wildlife out there. In Aug that will pretty much be my home once my new college is out in Montana. I CAN'T WAIT! :)
Math protest
Posted 12 years agoI am now on math protest cause my teacher sucks. We have a online class so you do all the work on the computer. Well I past my study guides and than wanted to get credit on a question to pass a quiz, well she refuses to pass me on the quiz cause I so bad with taking tests I fail. So that is making me fall behind being forced to do a study guide for the quiz that I passed. So yeah I'm on protest till she passes my quiz.
Pokemon
Posted 12 years agoOkay who thinks it would be a cool idea to do kinda a pokemon series of sketches? If yes Leave the name of the pokemon in the comments, and I will see what I can do with it. At some point they will be colored hopefully. Also, try to keep it to older pokemon once I never really got into the newer style of it. So who's your fav pokemon? Growlith and Persian are already on here.
Powerpoint
Posted 13 years agoPowerpoint on Hemotoxins and the affect they have on blood. Also, talking about antivenom and how snake venom is being used in some medical treatments. I so don't want to do this in front of the class, but I get to talk about snakes and stuff so I guess its worth it. Wish my bio teacher would talk more about animals.
Sandy
Posted 13 years agoWow I'm getting nailed by this storm, power has been going on and off all day. Still have power at the moment by Im not sure how long that will last.
Super busy lately
Posted 13 years agoSo I started my second year of college a few weeks ago, and I'm really busy doing homework and stuff. I have class mon -fri I'm taking Bio, english and math, getting all my basics out of the way. Working on maybe going on a 4 week trip to montana in Aug, and hopefully being accepted to Montana State University for next year. Also, volunteering every weekend still, only thing keeping me from stressing out over school. So sorry I haven't been around I miss you guys, and I'm trying to work on new pics.
Should I sell photos?
Posted 13 years agoI'm playing around with the idea of selling photos and hand drawn stuff of mine. So the question is who would even want to buy stuff of mine? I would sell things like my skull pics and maybe my wolf pic and yellowstone pictures. So tell me if this is something you guys would like, leave a comment below and tell me what kind of stuff you would like if I was going to sell stuff.
Yellowstone Trip 2012 (in the park)
Posted 13 years agoMy Yellowstone trip in May loved it so much, so many new animals that I didn't see on my first trip. It also snowed on this trip like it did on my 2011 trip, must be me that it feels like it must snow when I'm there. I didn't see as many bear this time but saw way more wolves. On this trip I got to meet a famous person on Yellowstone Jim Halfpenny and he showed us a super cool room of skulls and bones being studied on animals that died in the park. He also showed us a Dire Wolf skull and a Short faced bear skull, I was so excited both animals are extinct and they were even tar covered.

Story Time
R.I.P. M838 (Big Blaze) killed by the Mollie Pack they lost their alphas and they aren't really even a pack anymore, but they're going around and killing other packs. I got the news of his death not long after I got home from my trip, very sad he was the first wolf of this trip and he stayed and howled for us on the ridge.
The three wolves on day 2 were playing with a log in a clearing. By this time and I'm very proud of this that I was great at finding animals in scopes mostly wolves. These wolves were digging and pawing the log trying to get something. At some point they got the animal they were working for. They were so cute little playful yearlings.
Ok the moose we got a few minutes seeing him than he walked into the woods, me and someone else joined the group that was following him. We go up a hill and in a lot of brush and than we stop and we're like this is stupid of us, these people are surrounding this bull (moose are the largest deer of earth) and its like this isn't smart and we went back.
A hunting badger by the road we are driving by and we see dirt flying and we stop and the badger pops up a few times. Than pulls out its prey and runs off into the plain after eating it. By the way the bus was park badly on the top of a little slope and the bus moved a lot, I was one of the people using the bus window to steady my camera I thought the bus was going to tip over.
Pronghorn saw two newborns my the Yellowstone gate by town when they were less than a day old. They were the cutest things on Earth bedded down with their mother and she started grazing. She knew that many predators wont come that close to town and that her babies were safe.
Day 3 the 8 wolves from the Lamar Pack they were stalking around elk and bison, but didn't get anything they didn't even chase I was kinda happy they didn't get anything. We saw them searching for the weak and I'm happy to say I noticed in my notes that one of the wolves was M755 who I saw on my 2011 trip, glad to see he made it and is doing so well.

Yellowstone Trip 2011 (in the park)
Posted 13 years agoSorry for the small list it was my first trip and I was to busy trying not to miss a thing. Okay the story of day 2 is wolf M755 made a kill, than the grizzly bear stole it. The bear which I named Carcass Bear (nice name right) stayed there for over a hour it felt like and a little coyote wondered in. For some reason the bear left and the coyote came in and got some of the meat of the carcass till the bear returned and the coyote ran away. Than a little while later we saw M755 watching the bear walking around the area, and at some point gave up knowing it wasn't going to get any of the meat.
Story of day 3 was these 2 Grizzly Bears up the road from each other, now in Yellowstone you are suppose to stay away from being close to the wildlife. Us in our bus are taking pictures of one of the bears and these Chinese tourist go up to the bear and start posing. It's like hello its a Grizzly Bear and its feeding what are you thinking. Than we hear of the other Grizzly Bear up the road and these tourist don't get in their car they run to the other bear. And then the pose next to that bear and when the bears walking into the woods they start to follow. Someone made the joke of Chinese take-out.

Found my YellowStone notebook
Posted 13 years agoFinally I found my notebook that I listed all my animals from my trip in it. I thought I lost it on the trip coming home, but I'm overjoyed I found it. I was thinking about posting them by the day I saw them but that would lead to a lot of journals. So I think I'll just make two journals one for each trip stating the day and animal and maybe a brief summary of what was going on at the time. Maybe I'll even post a label map of where the animals were. Let me know what you think.
