The FA attack and results
Posted 11 years agoHi all
as you know FA and other furry sites suffered a DDoD attack. These attacks and the downtime have got me thinking about where I am and if I want to be in the fandom or not. I liked a lot of the fandom, but its loosing its taste. Everything is growing samey in the writing with a lot of pulpy silly stuff or just boring samey things like Transformation, inflation and other niche stories which should have burnt themselves out years ago; there's only so many times you can tell the exact same story over and over. Sometimes its the result of just so many people writing and it happens to be alike, but often you get whole galleries full of the same writing....and that's so boring.
If every scenario and character is the same, why even bother reading them? We'd have no connection to the characters and wouldn't care what happens to them?
So honestly my feelings on FA and the fandom are on the fence. I'm also frequenting Weasyl more, though I never get any feedback from my writing there, only thing I got was a pair of ghost favourites
If FA is to survive it needs to up its game. Update itself and listen to the audiences.

A question to everyone
Posted 11 years agoIf I were to write anything you wanted, what would it be?
I'm just asking this because:
a) I'm naturally curious
b) I need something to take my mind of the tough times I've been having.
Just note though this is only hypothetical and a curiosity. I won't write requests I only write stuff I like writing, plus if I were to write something for someone I'd only do it for close friends :o

Posted 11 years agoHi All :) great news, I've learnt how to convert my story files to PDF, which means I'll upload them there also :D
https://www.weasyl.com/~altallo
I apologise to people who follow me there my page has fallen into a stagnant state until now. Its been all updated and the gallery is fuller now.
Also ploughing through chapter 5 of Tales of the Eternals. I know they don't get much attention, but I'm proud of my writings and really appreciate any and all comments about them

my writing might be a bit duller now (cover art wise)
Posted 11 years agoHi all
I use pictures as cover art for my writings to make them eye-catching. But I've had to change it to avoid copyright issues and what not. So that's why my gallery is looking a lot different now.
I've decided on this rule: if I can find an image that's ok to use and is attractive looking, I'll use that. If I can't, I'll just use dragon Altallo (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/13822413/) as the cover.
I'm a bit uncertain on using the dragon, sure he's a bright burst of colour that can be noticed, but Altallo as a dragon doesn't appear in every chapter, so I'm afraid I'll confuse readers. Plus a gallery full of the same dragon in the same pose would be a bit boring.
Also I'm kind of saddened, I had quite a lot of great photos, including 2 of white deserts, one from the White Sands National Park in Arizona and another from Egypt, both very surreal and alien like....but unfortunately I can't use them and the ones safe to use aren't that great. They lack the alien quality.
Other things I can't use are some great Minoan dolphin frescos and a beautiful piece of Japanese pottery with herons.
I'm not in the happiest mood of now may I request a funny video to help me feel happier?

an issue with FA
Posted 11 years agoHi all
I've just noticed something wrong with FA
On the Account settings where you can change you password and turn the adult filters on or off there is the Date of Birth section also.
For some reason its locked and its changed from 19th of March 1993 (my birthday) to 1st of January 2014
Now this is of course wrong, I'm not 8 months old (and if I was then how on Earth did I start using the internet and onto a site full of anthropomorphic animal shenanigans ) and just waiting for a response from an admins
I just want to ask if any of you are having the same issues?

A discussion of horror game and a writing update.
Posted 11 years agoHi All
You know it seems in recent years (2010 to the present year) we've been seeing loads of indie horror games. They come and go, grow in popularity and decline. The biggest now is Five Night's at Freddy's.
What do I think of it? I think is a good game, lot of atmosphere and some genuinely creepy antagonists, playing on the uncanny valley and the fear of animatronics.
I'm just not scared of it....nope I don't find the jumpscares that terrifying. Sure there's a screech, but I find the image of a giant rabbit or chicken shaking about as though trying to nibble you kind of funny. Its when they're in the corridors, silently looking at you through the camera or when the fox is running down the corridor or when all you can hear is tem moving, that's when its creepy for me.
But that's just me, I can see why people are scared of it. It is a creepy game, though its not my type. I'm not a scary guy, I'm a happy guy Its a tonne better than poor old Slenderman though, aka faceless Voldemort
The fan art of this game though is....dull. Some of it is the generic "Rule 34" (I think the whole rule 34 thing is silly) creepy, some of it is ok and some of it is odd. Most of it though is drawings of characters as animatronics. Honestly they just remind me of those old My Little Pony conversions. Just give a character creepy eyes, jointed metal arms and other animatronic features and bam, done.
They just lack the creepy dilapidated quality of the originals, they're too clean and squeaky looking and boring.
From that lets talk about writing :D
I've gotten to a good start on chapter 5 of Tales of the Eternals. This chapter is going to be shorter than the last one.
Also I have been considering making a team of FBA (Furry Basketball) characters. I was thinking of making dinosaurs, because dinosaurs are awesome obviously.
The characters were going to be some of the less well known dinosaurs, like Allosaurus and Rajasaurus.
But after thinking and re-thinking it over, as well as some other influences, I decided to drop the whole FBA thing. I might 'recycle' the dinosaurs for something else (I have a few of them thought out) and just concentrate on one thing for now.
I respect the FBA's creator
BuckHopper, but I don't feel I could write these sorts of things :o
Thank you for reading

Now I feel more motivated to keep going and write more
Its been really tiring for me chipping slowly away through July and August and at first I wasn't happy with it at all, but now that I look back on it, I feel a bit better about it Its meant to be a fun romp all in all.
its pretty darn long, its 12 Libre Office pages so I hope it doesn't overwhelm people.

Some writing progress at last
Posted 11 years agoHey all.
Tales of the Eternals chapter 4 is coming out soon. This has been a pretty challenging writing since essentially every scenario in this chapter is similar, I need to try and make it exciting and not repetitive.
Honestly I'm not really proud of some parts this chapter and I'm not too certain on how to fix it. I kind of just want this one out of the way to get to the next ones. So I hope I can rely on some constructive feedback and helpful hints
On the way I decided to rename some dinosaurs. In the previous stories I named the dinosaurs just after they're actual names: Tyrannosaurus, Hadrosaurs, etc.
Now I've been making up terms and names that the raptor character could use to describe them:
-Tyrannosaurus and other carnivores become "Knife teeth"
-Triceratops and other ceratopsians are "Horn-faces"
and so on and so forth. I'll go back and make these changes to previous chapters also.
Additionally I've also been setting some ground rules for my story. Some of which my long term watchers would know like no sexual stuff (I never use the term 'adult' to describe sexual stuff because some of it, at least on FA, can be pretty darn immature), because its a story of everyone.
These ground rules include:
-No species "stereotypes", e.g. all dragons are vain, all bears are into leather, etc. These are just as bad as saying all English people are snobs and drink only tea or all American people are ignorant and obese; its not true!
-No wolves and foxes as main characters.
A bit harsh you may say, but lets face it there are a TONNE of foxes and wolves and honestly it gets a bit dull. For a wolf or fox character to succeed they need personality and some I've seen do have that in droves.
Ultimately I just want to concentrate on different and diverse species, to give a wider scope and more interest.
No one is going to remember a generic neon coloured fox who goes to generic raves and wears generic suggestive clothing Also give the other species a chance! I love a lot of African species like zebra and antelopes and yet they're not that common compared to foxes, wolves and even lions (giant lazy shows offs)
That's all for now and I hope to have the new story out really soon, either tonight or tomorrow I'm sorry for the long wait, its been busy and tough

a new sort of meme/questionare thingamobob.
Posted 11 years agoLets do it!
A) ART
1 Do you consider yourself an artist and if so what type and why? What are your goals if so?
Well artist is a broad term. Artists aren't just people who paint pictures; you can make mental pictures and moods by using words in writing and by music. So yes anyone can be an artist.
I'm a writer as you should know by now.
my goals are to create stories that can be enjoyed by nearly everyone; and not canter to just one fandom. Also to do something different as opposed to all the rather samey stuff that's been around the writer's index.
2 How do you view other artists in the fandom (whether you are one or not)?
That's a really broad question!
Well as ever there are artists you like and artists you don't care for. And that pretty much is the same with me too
3 What is your favorite type of art? Any fetish or style specialties?
I like characters that are realistic looking and anatomically look possible; nothing extreme. I also like galleries that have a variety of characters and, above all else, fun.
Fun galleries are ones you want to return to again and again.
Fetishes...um...no. None. The closest I'd say is a kind hearted character with a lot of personality, the type you just want to cuddle, because those are the best and for everyone and when people like your character for more than just their appearance, then you've won! Well done!
Most other specialities are just weird or dead creepy, like vore and this whole baby fur thing....what is that all about?
Some are just plain boring :o
4 How do you feel about art prices? What is too much, not enough, and why? What is the value of art to you (any kind)?
I don't buy stuff so I can't answer this though I will say; WATCH YOUR MONEY. Just don't overspend on a giant orgy picture when you need money for a living, ok? Good.
5) What is the meaning or purpose of your art (whether artist or commissioned)?
To support an artist and get art to express yourself when you can't make artwork or don't have the time to make artwork
B) WATCHERS
1) Who do you watch? Artists? Art Whores? Friends?
I watch a mixture of artists and people I consider friends
2) How do you feel about your watchers?
I really like many of them; a lot give me comments on my writing and a few are very helpful when I misspell something or need to re-word something
Some are just carry-on watchers, the type who don't comment :o
3) Do you care about popularity on this site? Why?
Nope I don't care if I'm a 1 watcher wonder or a thousand watcher skyscraper.
How many watchers you get is unimportant; some people have thousands of watchers and are just shallow jerks.
4) Why would you unwatch? How do you feel about being unwatched and why?
Several reasons:
-they post something I dislike
-drama and aggressive behaviour; a prime example being those vile weeaboo attacks on my old account.
-loss of interest.
And I feel a bit mixed when I unwatch someone. Part of me feels horrible and I feel like a terrible person.
But I also know that even though I unwatch someone, it doesn't necessarily mean I despise them, I can be still friendly just means I don't care for the gallery, and after all artwork shouldn't get in the way of friendships.
as for being unwatched.....um, depends. If I was unwatched by YiffMcYifferno98824934, then I wouldn't care, if it was someone I knew and liked I'd be surprised and want to know why they unwatched me.
5) Would you care if watcher counts altogether disappeared?
Nope. I wouldn't really shed a tear for them
C) SUITERS
1) Do you suit or would you if not? Why?
No. I'm kind of scared of being inside a fursuit. I'm claustrophobic and it can get really warm. Maybe if I get used to them I would get a fursuit
2) How do you feel about suiting outside fandom gatherings/cons? Why?
I like suiters :D they're fun and great actors
my only complaint is that there are a bit too many canines. They're probably the easiest suits to make, but I don't know. The whole wolf and fox thing is a bit dull.
3) Do you prefer partials or full suits? Why?
I don't mind, either or
4) Do you think suiters deserve preferential treatment at cons (whether or not they do)? Why?
No of course they don't, everyone at a con should be equal.
5) How do you feel about "Murrsuits" or suits capable of sustaining adult activities(regardless if you have one or not)?
Um....no.
D) FRIENDS
1) What do you look for in a fandom friend? Why?
Just someone who is kind and friendly, someone who won't start making sinister comments
2) Do you believe in fans befriending artists or vice versa? Why?
well yeah, we're all human beings after all
3) Do you believe in voice chatting and/or meeting the friends you make on FA in person? Why?
Of course! Meeting in person is fun and happy and you can do things like play games, tell jokes and so on
5) Do you believe in having adult interactions with friends virtual or physical? Why?
No offence, but the answer is no. I'd just feel uncomfortable about that :o
E) YOU
1) How did you discover the fandom?
A friend of mine introduced it to me
2) Why did you join the fandom?
I always loved animals and anthro characters
3) Why did you join FA?
First furry website I encountered. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if I found one of the others first
4) What is your purpose, if any, within the fandom and on FA. Why?
To entertain and make friends :D
and to smash people I dislike on the head just kidding!
5) Do you see yourself staying indefinitely or not? What would make you leave?
mmm, the fandom I will stay in because the people are so nice. If FA turns into My Little Pony Affinity then I'll definitely leave; those things are just everywhere and really are pretty darn annoying, or if someone starts attacking me again and again and again, I'd probably leave for a bit just rest and recuperate.

FA Downtime; what I'll be doing.
Posted 11 years agoHark my friends and listen well for doomsday is upon us!
Just kidding no FA downtime isn't the end of the world and I don't think people should complain too much, after all these tings happen. Heck SoFurry crashed all the time in comparison, that site was like an umbrella full of holes!
anyways, what I'll be doing during the downtime is writing some more and trying to finish this next chapter soon. I'm sorry its taken so long, just been a really busy summer and its been difficult just to sit down and get into the writer's mood.
But I have decided on one rule for my main writing project; keep wolf and fox characters to a minimum. We have plenty of wolves and foxes on FA and they only work when they have a personality :o
Aside from what I'm working on now I've also been thinking about other projects including a few FBA characters and stories (FBA standing for Furry Basketball Association.) I like the FBA which has a plethora of interesting characters; from rats to insects, there's even a shrimp character
Plus its not all about sports, you can do so much with the characters
The characters I have planned out are dinosaurs, why? Well because dinosaurs seem to be a bit underused on FA, not counting the hordes of Godzillas and fan art of things like Extreme Dinosaurs.
Also a rule for said dinosaur characters is to try and keep to less famous species, such as Kentrosaurus and Hypsilophodon. Oh and no Tyrannosaurus, because there's a tonne of T-rexes a around FA
That and T-rex isn't as cool as Allosaurus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allosaurus) in my opinion Allosaurus has a cool looking head with small crests.
But that's for later, so now I'm just concentrating on Tales of the Eternals
and honestly I hope this downtime isn't too long and doesn't disrupt anyone but don't tear out your hair over it!

anyways, what I'll be doing during the downtime is writing some more and trying to finish this next chapter soon.
But that's for later, so now I'm just concentrating on Tales of the Eternals
and honestly I hope this downtime isn't too long and doesn't disrupt anyone but don't tear out your hair over it!
random Skype requests
Posted 11 years agoHi all
I keep getting random Skype requests from some dodgy looking and sounding and I don't think it is anyone from my FA watchlist
I've reported it as spam and hopefully it will stop. But if it is someone of my watchlist, I kindly request you stop. Use a private message to ask me before hand please

James reviews Vanguard.
Posted 11 years agoHi all and welcome to a new review :D
ATTENTION: this review is silly and for fun so have fun!
Today its....another card anime....yay!
I really find these anime fascinating in a way. Oh not that they're entertaining or funny, but I find them interesting in just the myriad of ways they can desperately shove their product placement. Some like Digimon aren't as blatant; sure the main protagonists come across a new creature every episode which is basically a showcase for how many merchandise they can make, but it has a flowing narrative and some interesting elements.
But not the show we're looking at, OH NO! This one was made by the same company that made Buddyfight and honestly this one might be a tad worse. Its not a Garbage Pail Kids terrible, but its definitely nowhere near any greats. Its called Cardfight Vanguard, but I'm just going call it Vanguard for short. It was shown from 2011 on YouTube and is still ongoing...its like Uranium, it takes a long time to decompose
What's the plot? Well there's this kid who has silly blue hair who really really likes this card game their advertising and has a super duper rare card! Whoo
and then he gets attacked by 2 bullies who later become his friends and there's a lone cardfighter aka an emo, and then they come across a girl who runs a shop selling cards and they want to enter a competition and, yes this is basically the plot to YuGiOh, minus 99% of the fantasy elements.
And that's the biggest issue; its just like YuGiOh. The main character is the same, a wimp who finds out later he has a secret power of the cards! ooooh, whatever.
There's the four comic relief characters who start off as rivals and then become friends and there's also the two supporting female characters one of whom is a love interest for one of the comic relief.
this is odd because YuGiOh wasn't good, in fact it was rather laughable in how dumb it was with some ridiculous hair and fashion sense and how the some of the characters attempted to do each other because of some dumb Ancient Egyptian curse thingamajig. In fact I shall just leave this here:
http://www.youtube.com/user/CardGamesFTW
its the YuGiOh abridged series. It is really funny and the humour can be brutally honest. Even if you don't like anime, you can still have fun and laugh at these videos :D My favourite joke is:
Yugi: "Hello, we're Japanese highschool kids"
Shop Owner "You want to buy some porn disguised as visual novels?"
Yugi: "What? No!"
Wonderful! :D
But the abridged stuff aside, the problem still stands that Vanguard is just an imitation. It has smoother animation and isn't as crazy looking in the hair department, but that's it. The humour is dull and just basically:
I AM SHOUTING WHICH IS FUNNY YES?
No, no its really not funny :o
Oh and also there's later on a villain; a red haired fellow with an OH SO TRAGIC STORY, who has special mind reading card powers. Kind of a specific super power :o
Also he has red hair, which is a change from the usual silver or white haired villains. I know they do it because in Japan witches have white hair, but come on, its kind of obvious after a while; the guy or gal with white hair is evil.
So props to you Vanguard for going after gingers this time
His plan is to take over the world using...*sigh* card games. Imagine him waltzing up to a government and proclaiming he is their ruler while waving a pack of playing cards at the governors he's be arrested on the spot.
The biggest complaint though for me is just the sheer desperation they get to. There's one episode where you find out that one of the female character's parents actually die in a car crash. Yes they have parent death in this anime
And her parents got her into the card game and because they died she distanced herself, but now she realises by playing the game she feels like she is with them again and yada yada.
Now whether you find this touching or dumb is up to your interpretation.
For me, it was a bit disturbing
Death isn't uncommon in media aimed at children and the death of a parent or a main character is a big thing for a child. Littlefoot's mum dying in the Land Before Time, Mufasa's death in Lion King, Kira being stabbed in the Dark Crystal and Bambi's mum being shot, these all have one thing in common; you got to know the character.
Now Kira in Dark Crystal is a bit of a cheat because she does come back to life, but she does get a lot of screen time and when I was a little 5 year old watching Dark Crystal, it really shook me .
The parents in Vanguard are there just to advertise cards and say
"Hey kids this is a fun game! Get your parents to buy it!" OR ELSE!
surprisingly they also do this in Buddyfight too. This is one bloodthirsty company!
But the most damming thing about this and Buddyfight is that they do nothing for kids. Its just "Oh look at our cool cards and the 'thrill' you get from playing, BUY THEM!"
I can get defensive with kids and we shouldn't just treat them like bags of money nor should we pummel them up like some people I met on FA said so.
We should treat them like mature beings, they're the future generation after all you can show in media how to behave; that kindness is a strength and that you should treat everyone equally because deep down we're all the same no matter what our likes and dislikes, our race, our appearance or our voices and languages.
I know I may sound like I'm pile driving this in, but I do get passionate about the subject of what media we show to children and that we shouldn't just make it sloppy, we should take care with what we make. These new shows like Buddyfight especially (cause Vanguard was pretty much dead in the water) made me start thinking again on what future generations will think if they look back on the shows of 2013 and 2014. Its basically like us looking back at the commercial shows of the 80's and 90's; some with fondness like He-Man and some less so Maybe some people will like it, but I doubt it.
Overall Vanguard isn't worth searching for. Its dull and tedious and the parent death thing is distasteful; It will never be on par with Land Before Time, even if it tries to.
Anyways enough of that thanks for reading!
I was planning on doing a running commentary on Buddyfight....but that's died out because of my lack of interest; the show makes you careless!
Just know its got a relative death, more shining products in your face and also no plot yay!

Feeling a bit depressed.
Posted 11 years agoHi all again.
Sorry for another "I'm feeling sad journal" and you're probably tired of them. So if you're bored of this, sorry. I'm not doing this to get sympathy but more as self-expression; you should always show how you feel and never be silent.
I don't know why I've become down in the dumps to be honest
I've been in such an upbeat mood with a new writing out (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13866602/) and getting a new motivation to write again with no computer issues.
The only issues I'd say are the disappearing Skype contacts (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5891355/) and also been trying to contact people who I used to talk to on my old FA accounts and a few just don't respond which I do find a little sad. And this has happened over the period of a few months, so its not that they've gone to Anthrocon being the only reason.
It got me started thinking about how I talk to people. Now I can be really odd sometimes, when I'm stressed and feel under pressure, such as being surrounded by people so close I can't move, being yelled at or just being really scared, I tend to act randomly and desperately, like a cornered animal. Its something I really don't want to happen but it just sort of bursts out.
It sometimes happens on FA and I feel really guilty because of it. Its usually when someone makes what looks like a negative comment, such as with a negative emote like these; and so on. It sometimes makes me think I've done something bad and I go into a sort of spiral of "Oh god I am a terrible person" thoughts
Aside from that I think I'm doing ok. I never go "Hey hotstuff, wanna feel my sausage." or anything creepy like that, no! That isn't how you meet people its creepy and nasty and shows you don't care about someone; you don't want to get to know them, all you want is a quick bunch of text of vapid lust that's not all fair on all RP's though and there are those that are nice and so on.
Additionally I can also be very energetic and fast when replying to comments. I'm a right old comment machine with over 23000 comments made at the time of making this journal
So I feel that sometimes I can swamp people with comments and can be a bit of a handful for some people.
I really enjoy getting and making comments. But I understand if me giving a reply every minute can be really fast :o
I really hope this depression lifts soon. Being sad isn't fun :o

Skype contacts are a pain sometimes o_O
Posted 11 years agoI've been having a bit of issue with Skype
No its not the technical aspect, its more social aspect. I have a fair amount of contacts, some I speak to on a daily basis, some less so and some every blue moon. And sometimes people remove me which is ok, but sometimes I want to talk again and I add them again and sometimes I feel rushed and tired D:
I'm pretty shy as well :o
I wish I could have more time to chat but I feel constricted sometimes by the times I'm available for chatting and sometimes feel like I leave some people out and I feel bad :(
I'm sorry if I don't chat a lot and it sometimes feel like I've forgotten about you, I haven't, its just really tiring for me.
Also in long conversations my fingers and wrists can hurt from typing

Returning
Posted 11 years agoHi all, I'm back from Portugal and overall the holiday was not very eventful. The villa we were in was infested with ants they seemed to really like my bathroom for some reason and later they broke into the kitchen.
Aside from that not much happened, but on the last full day I got right battered. The shower head fell ontop of me and I also tripped over some stairs and hurt my left leg and foot, so I went home bruised ah well, isn't a holiday without some bruises. And anyways, I have a golden tan anyway :D (I go a sort of browny gold in the sun)
Also in regard to my previous journal, I'm sorry, I wasn't in a good mood when I wrote it and I deleted it because a fight seemed to have broken out on the comments
anyways, I'll revise it:
Transformation
I don't hate transformation, if I did I wouldn't watch people who draw it, its just when it becomes so generic and so worn out. Also for a time, a month ago, I got really fed up when someone kept going at me on Skype saying:
"Your ideas are silly, do transformation, do transformation! Oh and make it painful for your characters!"
and that's what got me annoyed If you're going to do a transformation, you should try to make it unique. Make the character interesting somehow. Or even make the transformation interesting. One of the most interesting transformations in any medium was in a DrWho episode. It involved a character transforming into a werewolf, but they didn't go for the whole fur and all, she just grew long drooling fangs and really long claws. What makes it interesting is how its filmed; with short takes with the character changing with each take growing longer fangs and more drool. Also the character herself, called Mags, is interesting. She's unassuming and kind and to have her turn into this creature is startling and the dark lighting makes it scary for little kids. Same with the donkeys in Pinocchio, that scene is terrifying and heart wrenching
Its more interesting than some character go:
Oh look, something that says don't drink! I better drink it.
Unless if you're under the age of 4 or really slow, you should know not to drink random stuff.
oh look a magical potion called bleach! I wonder what it tastes like!
Blob furs
In answer to
konanarillah yes I ment blobfurs and I got them mixed up with obese furs, so sorry that being said obese isn't something positive--its unhealthy and a serious life risk.
And I just don't find a mound of fat very pleasant. Chubby furs are good, but not a blob with no legs, hands or head. If they have discernable features and are mobile, fine by me :o
Aside from that I hope you've all been fine and again I apologise for my previous journal.

another update
Posted 11 years agoMy computer issues are over thankfully
however me and my family are going on holiday to Portugal in two days. I feel kind of mixed about this, going away is always a new experience, but I don't like really hot weather and sometimes have breathing difficulties in very warm and enclosed areas, such as inside a car. I'd prefer somewhere cold to be honest. Oh and my brother is on the trip too....yay x_x I can expect foul language and temper tantrums from him.
Also I'm not going to be taking my computer, too much to carry. So I won't be around for 2 weeks. Which is a shame, cause I really want to do another review journal (just not sure what) and also continue writing, I've gotten back into a writing kick.
Anyway I might do another quick fun journal. Any suggestions? (Nothing vague though)

Posted 11 years agoI have Google Chrome and the annoying Three thing is still popping up whenever I try to access FA via Google or if I press a "next" or "previous" on a FA comic series, but FA works when I press link in history. I just wish this Three thing would GO AWAY! I don't want it and I don't care about it!
I have to say Chrome does feel a bit unusual, but I'll grow into it I guess :o

Quick DrWho review: The Talons of Weng-Chiang
Posted 11 years agoHello all and welcome to a new review
Today we'll be looking at one of the best and at the same time one of the most problematic DrWho episodes ever, the Talons of Weng-Chiang, but for the purposes of the review I shall just call it Talons.
This story features the 4th Doctor, Tom Baker, one of the most recognisable Doctors ever--long multicolour scarf, toothy grin, bulging blue eyes, curly hair, hat, jellybabies (which is a candy) all iconic in their glory.
His companion is Leela, a young woman from a race called Sevateem, who are in fact humans from a spaceship called Survey Team 7 but who crashed on an alien world and became Sevateem (Sevateem, Survey Team, see it?).
Leela is great. She's not a trembling damsel in distress, and is instead a fierce and protective, lunging at villains with a knife.
Talons came out when DrWho was becoming more horror-orientated, with grim stories and dark settings. Talons takes place in Victorian London, where the Doctor has taken Leela to see how her ancestors lived. They get attacked by thugs from a Chinese cult called the Tong of the Black Scorpion. They later find out that there has been numerous cases of young women missing and also several murder cases.
In a local theatre, a performer called Li H'sen Chang is working with the Tong to kidnap people and bring them to Weng-Chiang, a supposed (and probably highly fictionalised) Chinese god. Weng-Chiang is in fact a criminal from the future called Magnus Greel. He's draining the life of the kidnapped people to keep himself alive, in a sense its cannibalism.
Oh and also Greel is good at screaming.
"LET THE TALONS OF WENG-CHIANG SHRED YOUR FLESH!"
He also has a ventriloquist puppet as a servant, Mr.Sin who is in fact a computer with a part of a pig brain in its system (hence why it snorts), who he uses to murder people and kidnap Leela
So its up to the Doctor, Professor Litefoot and theatre owner Henry Jago to stop Weng-Chiang's murders and save Leela.
There are many points in favour of Talons:
-it looks great, with stunning sets and costumes.
-Jago and Litefoot are brilliant and were to get their own spin-off even.
-its very entertaining and suspenseful at times
-Its atmospheric, with dark visuals, great location work and lighting. The only thing that doesn't work visually is a giant rat in a sewer (a result of an experiment). This oozes of Victoriana and is just so enjoyable in that sense
And it also has a dragon turret :
But it does have one major issue. All the Chinese characters are evil villains and the only one who talks (Li H'sen Chang) is a white actor in heavy make up to look Asian, in other words its yellowface (he's the person in orange robes with the swords. The creepy guy in the mask downstairs is Greel) :
In the present day this would not be allowed, but I guess it was common when this was made (1977).
Still even then its rather uncomfortable. Additionally there's a lot of racist talk here and there and the word "chink" is also used.
There are some who dismiss this, but you can't ignore Talon's one big flaw. ITS RACIST.
Overall Talons is regarded as one of DrWho's all time greats. I personally enjoy it, but I take into account of its issues. I'd say be careful with it. Its great, but I can understand if someone would avoid it or say they don't like it because of the racism.

Bye bye computer Gremlins! :D
Posted 11 years agoThanks to the help of my watchers, all the little issues and stuff I had with my computer are gone and I was able to type out and send my essay for university
The only issue I have is the internet connection, but honestly that's something that's been around for a long time. Its effected by winds (which there are a tonne of where I live) and to be fair is just pathetic anyway.
I really want to thank everyone who helped out and got me back on the tracks. You rock!
mmm, now I'm trying to get back to writing...but I end up staring at the screen I guess I need to get back into the groove. In the meantime who's up for another commentary like this on I did? (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5464618/). Its gotten sillier and sillier

I feel battered and bruised
Posted 11 years agoOk, my brother helped me to download an open office....and really wish we hadn't now. The thing tried to force me to use Yahoo search. I REALLY HATE YAHOO! The search engine is slow, derpy and just downright stupid. Google gets you to where you want to go and no hassle. Yahoo on the other hand lobbies ads at you and random pop-ups. Luckily I have sorted out the whole Yahoo thing and kicked it out.
The open office is....ok. Its nowhere near as good as the Office 2010. Also my internet died once--and by died I mean that it randomly closed for some reason and I have had to open it up again. Its only done this once, but I'm concerned. Maybe I pressed a button by mistake. So far its been stable...but I'm keeping an eye on it.
So at the moment I'm pretty worn out and feeling fed-up. I really want to write more and get back to my swing, but I really want another office type--the open office is pretty darn stupid. Trouble is the other systems are ridiculously expensive, up to £100 that's pricing of furniture not some computer programme! And searching PC world is like searching a desert for water--barely anything in it anymore!
I'll try to get writing again, but its most likely going to be even slower at this rate. Oh joy.
I miss my old computer :(

Good news everyone!
Posted 11 years agoI went out and bought a new computer it was a fair price and is running smoothly, not J-keys being rude, no stalls and its both quiet and cold---the old one got really warm and whizzed loudly
Only downsides is that:
A) Writing is all gone and I don't have Microsoft office on this computer yet
B) Skype! I need to login again :O and I have kind of forgotten my username :o I can only vaguely remember what it is. But I'll find out soon enough
x_x I still feel a bit battered and bruised from the death of my old computer. Sure it was rubbish and slow, but it was like an old friend.....plus all my writing was on it D:
P.S If I make an spelling mistakes, its because I'm still getting used to typing in this computer

In trouble
Posted 11 years agoMy computer (using another temporarly) is damaged. I'm trying to solve it, but it came as a shock and I want to appologise to the people I was chatting on Skype too about my sudden disappearence--everything froze and nothing worked. Now I'm trying to find the computer's start-up disk to solve this....what a stroke of bad luck.
It also made me feel, well...alone. My personal biggest fear is being alone and in a situation like this. I know how to solve the issue, but its not going to be easy.

Current mood: blue. Perk-up requested! :o
Posted 11 years agoI've been feeling down in the dumps for an odd reason :o
I guess of late I've been feeling a bit cut off from FA at times. I visit regularly but its been a bit colder now in some respects. Not as many art floods as there were before and whenever I visit the index there really isn't really much interesting. Tonnes of overly cute stuff D: I can stand some natural cuteness....but not overdone giant eyes and colourful...just feels too artificial
aside from that I also feel that I'm not talking enough I do comment, but some people I watch seem to have gone silent comment wise.
For many I understand that they have busy lives and other understandable reasons.....but some seem to have gone complete clam-shut I ask them why but get no responses which is a bit sad :(
Now most people who make journals asking their audience for donations or commissions (its their business after all )
But I'm asking my audience for something else. This down mood has been slowing my writing down. So my dear readers, I'd like to ask for a pick-up please, if you want to. show me something funny or kind and nice I've been searching myself, but I'd like the horizons to be broadened just as long as its not gory, sad or life-scarring
Thank you

quick update and apology
Posted 11 years agoHi all
I want to first apologise for my lack of writing uploads. I've been pretty busy and also ill (with sneezing and numb arms), so writing has been slow, though I have been chipping away and writing whenever I can, but it has been tough at times with numb arms
Aside from this I'd like to thank the landslide of new watchers I've had, unexpected but really awesome :D I appreciate them a lot.
Additionally I've also started another writing project, a different but similar story to Tales of the Eternals. Its taking a generic fantasy plot of main character in fantastic world and trying something with it. The main points I follow with it are:
1) main character is human, but not a hot-head who is ready to beat up something. Instead the character is shy, nervous and seems rather small and vulnerable. Also no Over The Top design (weird clothes or spikey hair)--keep it simple, because simplistic designs can be just as memorable, if not more and rely on personality instead of looking...odd and he doesn't really fight evil, but more so has to talk to inhabitants in a diplomatic way or solve mysteries, basically not making this story a total violence fest.
Additionally the character is in a lowly position (cliché? maybe. But sometimes clichés and tropes are unavoidable) and is selected by some creatures from a fantasy world to help them in rectifying issues among different groups of creatures.
Why choose this person? Well because being in a lowly state he won't be missed by anyone. This is kind of a bash at the "Chosen one" trope. Not that its a bad trope, far from it. Its just a bit overused, sometimes on bad characters we care little about.
2) The fantasy realm itself has nothing human in it, or anything looking human, They can have human like bodies, two arms two legs, but nothing human in their faces. This is for creative reasons and to make the main character look like an alien to the denizens of the world. Its kind of a scary thought being without any other humans in this odd world.
That being said its not a cold world, its very warm and rich and colourful in its way. And there are some staple fantasy creatures, like dragons, Minotaurs, reptile people and fauns (who are anthro goats without the human parts) and some that are completely different from the source material such as the Rime (Norse Frost giants) in an experiment like way. There are villains too, which I won't mention here to keep it a surprise
I'm sorry if it felt like I was blabbing on a lot here I like to plan these things out before actually writing them and discussing with other people.
Of course I'm still going on with Tales of the Eternals--I began with it, and I'll see it through to the end I'm more or less expanding some borders and trying new stuff. This story isn't as grandiose in scale nor will it ever get as dark as Tales of the Eternals can. Its a more softer story, but I hope that people enjoy both
