Posted 14 years agoWell, after the update to chapter 3, which included some rather clunky battle music additions, I thought I'd do some scrounging around for some decent image songs (sung by other people of course) for my characters. Think of them as "theme songs" if you will. I don't know why I'm doing this, since I only have about four character concepts at this point, but what the hell right?

To All of My New Watchers
Posted 14 years agoWelcome! I seem to have picked up a lot of you recently. I wonder why that could be? *notices the bikini she's still wearing* Oh yeah.
Well, here's the drill. Or, request rather. I'm an amateur writer at best. I don't expect my work to win any prizes (though I do consider myself at a decently high caliber in the amateur circle.
However, my work can only get better with criticism. I am in the process of revising some of the chapters for my PCA story (Chapter 1 is at a good spot as far as I can tell, Chapter 2 is coming along). I'd like you to read Chapter 1 at least, keeping in mind the story is meant to be a comedy, and give me some feedback on what you'd like to see more of.
I'll try to keep all of your suggestions in mind for further chapters, and if you guys have ideas for minor characters (manor staff, teachers, etc.) submit them to me via note.
It's about time that I started taking some good old fashioned advice.

A Look Forward
Posted 14 years agoAs all of my... 12 watchers may be aware, some time ago I posted a journal in which I expressed my distaste for people who preferred subbed anime over dubbed anime for no adequate reason, and who proceeded to bash those who liked dubs. Now, I've done some developing over the months since that journal, and have come to rethink my position. Yes, I do think sub fans who bash dub fans for no reason are annoying pests. But, I'm more forgiving of those who prefer subs over dubs, as long as they don't post inflammatory comments meant to insult the other side.
I mean, it's all subjective right? Posting a comment like "Subs are just better", is missing the point of an opinion entirely. That's your opinion. Please, don't feel the need to throw it on people who don't see things the way you do. Enjoy your subs. We're not going to stop you.
And also, PLEASE stop posting such comments ON VIDEOS OF DUBBED ANIME/GAMES! Several times I've watched episodes of anime on Youtube dubbed (Thank you Funimation!) and scrolled through the comments to see posts like "This was much better subbed." Maybe it was to you. Again, that's your opinion. The point is, the people who like dubs don't care. Now, you may be asking "Why are you posting this then?" Well, probably because I doubt the 12 people who actually know I exist on here include any of you.
Now, I STILL believe the ones who say things like "it's the original language," are sort of missing the point. A lot of anime is set in Japan, yes. However, just as much is set in an undisclosed city, or in a European fantasy setting. I recently finished Romeo X Juliet, an anime based off of a Shakespeare play. Hellsing takes place in England, and involves a war with the resurrected Third Reich. Black Lagoon involves characters of a number of different ethnic backgrounds.
Also, in response to the people who claim that the original Japanese voice actors (Yes, not seiyuu, voice actors. I'm sorry, that's another pet peeve of mine) put more emotion into their roles, I'll agree with you but on a case to case basis. Look at Mikami's "Sakujo/Deletegasm" in English and Japanese. Honestly, I LOVE his Japanese voice but his English voice is just so ridiculously hammy that it makes the whole scene so much funnier.
Well, this concludes my MUCH more well thought out discussion on anime subbing vs dubbing.

You ever get so sick of the constant war that seems to be going on between dub lovers and sub lovers? Well, actually the rather one sided conflict that sub lovers just love to drag on and on, but I digress. There is NOTHING wrong with liking dubbed anime or subbed anime, as anime is a form of art and art is subjective. It gets so irritating when people try to say "Oh, Japanese anime is better because there's more emotion." How can you bloody TELL? It's Japanese. Sure there may be more YELLING, but that doesn't constitute more emotion. Subtlety is nice people... There are also the ones who claim it is simply better because it's "the original language" and it's closer to the creator's intention. Well, first of all, you obviously have no idea what animation entails, as there are no "original voices" and everything is pretty much dubbed over anyway. Second, truer to the creator's intent? Seriously? Take Miyazaki, considered Japan's answer to Disney. He has no issue with his films being dubbed. In fact, he encourages people to watch the English dubbed adaptations of his films, since subs would clutter up the otherwise beautiful scenery Studio Ghibli prides itself on. As for localization and changing dialogue... well, it wouldn't make SENSE if it were translated to the letter would it?
