My thoughts on the 2024 Results
Posted 10 months agoAs some people who follow me closely may already know my political beliefs aren't hard to come by and while i don't make a habit of talking about it off cooldown. I do tend to make my feelings known. I'm a gay woman of color so as much as I don't like it, sometimes my very existence is dependent on the whims of the most hateful with a microphone and that means I have to hyper invested in politics.
with the 2024 race being basically for trump as of the time of writing this I gotta say I'm not exactly shocked, just disappointed. Kamala Harris had the best intro into her run she could possibly get and yet she somehow managed to drain all of the momentum by basically ratcheting to far right boarder policies, continuing her stance on the genocide of the Palestinians and being such a deadpan politician that even her own base couldn't be enthused. and yeah you could say sexism played an important part in this election and I wont pretend it didn't, but that alone is clearly not the reason she lost. and before anyone starts blaming those that protest voted against kamala, it isn't their fault she decided to run the worst campaign she could against what should have been an easy win against Trump. guarantee if Tim Walz was at the top of the ticket the Dems would have won by incredible numbers.
All we can do now is make plans to mitigate some of effects of another 4 years of Trump and hopefully mobilize a good 2028 and beyond.
As for me I'm not sure what I'll do yet. I'll keep my passport updated incase I need it. ill save money incase i need it and I will continue to support and provide a safe space to all of my LGBT+ friends and loved ones in this trying times ahead of us.

*spoiler free* Review of Final Fantasy 16

So Final Fantasy 16 has actually been on my Radar since October 2022 and has quickly grown into one of my most anticipated games of all time so after dumping about 40 to 50ish hours into the game, completing the main campaign and all the side quests, im going to give a spoiler free deep dive into my thoughts on the game!
Story 9/10
The story of 16 has been a real joy and its very rich with lore not just that is expressly told to you but also sprinkled through the environment and side quests and god damn this game got a good few hours of crying out of me with how emotional some of the scenes can get. The world feels whole and for the most part complete up until where it starts to lose me. The story involving the characters around the events of the Big Bad are extremely compelling but anything directly involving that character feels kinda out of place not necessarily because the story is told badly, the goals and lead up to the end are very good but because the character themself is so uninteresting compared to every other smaller villain in the story.
Combat 9.5/10
If you like action games this is gonna fit right at home the sheer amount of skills available to the player and the diversity of the loadout makes the combat even more fun to play around with. I normally dont like tucking through hunts in RPGs because at some point the combat just gets boring. But I found myself hunting down every mark I could because doing huge combos on things with big ass hp bars was really fun and some of the set pieces for boss battles and the music that plays during them is so insane I find myself replaying them. Only reason this isnt a 10 is because some of the Eikon powers are Absolutely dog shit. Each Eikon has a skill bound to the Circle button that you can only get by having them equipped. some of them like Odins is very good and some of them like Ramuhs might as well be a disable the circle buttton skill they're so bad. i wish these mandatory skills got balanced a bit more so that it was more about what style you wanted to play instead of not picking an eikon because their mandatory skill takes literally 2 minutes to charge. the square and triangle button skills can be equipped to any eikon even if theyre not native to that eikon which is really awesome.
Characters: 9.5/10
Another almost perfect score ruined by one bad actor. This games characters are stunning even the characters you despise are so well written, none of them feel fake or like the actions they take or the things they say dont make sense all except for the Big Bad whom once again falls a little flat for me in the face of so many other absolutely amazing characters
Systems: 7.5/10
Probably my lowest score due to lack of some things that would just improve the quality of the game. Some skills can be charged while held down which makes me want to play this more on a fight stick than a game controller and theres no full rebind support to remedy this. using square to attack while holding triangle to charge up your magic spell is awkward and best and makes combat feel clunky at worst. there are 3 controller presets to choose from but none of them are the perfect set up and having full rebind support would take it a long way. Also the game lacks a mini map so i constantly found myself pausing the game just to check the map and make sure i was going in the right direction in these huge zones. lastly right before the final boss I got literally 30 side quests dumped on me, now of course you can understand that the later in the game the more number of sides youd and since its not necessary for progression you could just skip it. but as a completionist, spending 8 hours of time in between the second to last dungeon and last dungeon doing side quests that only appeared right then was jarring and i wish they were spaced a bit more evenly between the main campaign.
Overall 9/10
The TLDR is this is a great game and possibly one of the best Final Fantasy has to offer. This game has taken my no.1 spot from 8 and are up there with the greats for me like 7 and 10. If you have a ps5 I HIGHLY recommend picking this game up (or getting it in a year or so when it releases for PC)

The recent overturn of Roe v Wade is a terrible thing for this country. alot of you might think "oh its not terrible it just leaves the states to decide" except that over half the states already had laws pre made ready to ban abortion the second this happend, not only that, but theyre making laws so that you cant even travel to states that allow abortions to get one.
just to clarify, as or right now: in some states, a corpse has more body autonomy than a person with a uterus. oh but thats not all, SCOTUS is just getting started. if we dont bring the hammer down hard on this decision many more will come to pass. such as the banning of contraception and revoking gay marrage. the last 5 years have been an absolute nightmare for human rights and we need now more than ever to put our foot down and say no more before america gets thrown back into the 1800s
