Posted 8 years agoI think this Anthrocon has shown me what I have long worried was true.
I am not a person people do things with. I do not get invited to parties, events, or hang outs with. I found a game, Joust (PS3 with the PS Move), that was the most fun Ive had in awhile... and something I thought I was good with. But. People told me they were worried playing against me, that I wasnt beatable. I was the dangerous one.
I thought offering to throw money at things would make things better. buy people food when they were hungry. pay for things when I knew stuff was tight. I wanted people to not have to worry for awhile and be happy.
At work, people had told me that I intimidate them, and I seem unapproachable.
The thing I had worried most about, was that I was a monster, hiding from my reflection. Im sure Ive seen it to now, the truth of the situation. Its time a monster like me goes back to be alone in my lair.
I do have a few commitments in relation to cons and commissions that I intend to honor, but otherwise, Im leaving AC early. Cut my losses and go.

Posted 8 years agoOkay, I get why artists put a whole bunch of art behind the patreon paywall. Sure. That's great.
But if I see links to peoples patreons that I don't know (The chance to meet a new artist or two!), and /all/ I see is stuff behind paywalls, it's the fastest way to get me to turn around and go 'nope, not even worth the time'.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that patreons are like skirts. They should reveal enough to be interesting, and hide enough to keep me going for more.
So 100% behind the donator-only is like a skirt that goes to the ground. Sure, I mean, it might be a nice skirt. But the artist over /there/ who is showing some art will get me jumping for sure.

Life update!

That said, after being laid off mid december, I moved back home to northern Virginia, and almost immediately (6 weeks later), was starting a new job! This is week three already! An Auditor for a big government contractor company. I move into my new condo in Gainesville on sat!
I've been branching out, in Telegram ( Ambientgryph ), meeting Maryland, DC, and Virginia furs, sometimes three days in a row, but I'm loving it. A chance to be all social with furs! Even if a local food meet was sorta blown up by poorly behaved high schoolers. Theres a bunch of foods to try now! Maybe I'll try new place to eat each week meets, or something, and monthly cook a bunch of food for people meets. Yey!
Fur suits! I got to try out my partial, Warlin, during the last weekend in public. The anti-fogging compound on the glasses wasn't enough (Maybe I buffed too much?) and a bit of fog built up. Was fun!
Quetzalcoatl hoodie has seen lots of love and use too!
Cons! Here are my current plans, though I may be open to more!
2017:
FTM - Have someone crashing in my room! Might be open to one more! Will try and make fudge if possible! Likely to drive up Friday, and come back Sunday
FAU - Don't currently have anyone for this, could be open to someone.

These people will be picked at random. to enter, just reply to thia journal. (please dont reply to others, i wont count them. Please dont try to game the system.
If you win, you will have a sketch done for you after the new year, or you can pass the sketch to anyone else. (a loved one perhaps?)
Remember to tell your friends, since art of your friends is amazing too. I dont need reposts and I dont need watches (but I wont object to new friends!)

You will be expected to get a YCH style pose out to me ASAP so I can start the raffle off and get you references. Include a seperate cost for the YCH in your quote. I am not opposed to paying for the artist to have a slot, and for thier mate if they so choose.
