Fall Update - F3
Posted 11 years agoHey all, F3 is this weekend! I will be there with my fluffy love
and there will be all the partying! It's at the Lamplighter Inn North in Springfield, MO. I think there are still some rooms left, and reg is pretty cheap. www.f3con.com
It's going to be awesome, especially because
will be there!
On other notes, life is insane but generally agreeable. Come see me if you can this weekend! I'd love a hug or a high five!

Springtime for Indigo
Posted 11 years agoI can't say for certain, but there's a chance that life is starting to get tired of punching me in the face.
Working two jobs is tough, but it's going to pay off once I'm caught up. Once I'm no longer in panic mode, I can get back to work on things I like.
My birthday is Friday, and I'm actually pretty excited. I get to spend time with some of my favorite people and do some of my favorite things. Not sure if there will be a party, but if so, it'll be a week or two from now - the roommates found out their families are coming over this week.
Everything is awesome.

Stuffs
Posted 11 years agoStill playing catch up with finances and commissions, and life is stupid complicated. On the plus side, I'm feeling more confident about my social and performance skills, I've picked an old hobby up again, and I just took on an alternate character that may become a cute performance suit someday.
Remaining commissions-
Hanzerpaws - tail awaiting pickup
Bittergrim - tail needing rework with better fittings before delivery
Caldaq -changes made to painting technique, final version 80% ready
Lazyrayfinkle - initial art 50% ready
Misheru-san - badge as payment for custom character design, awaiting reference art

End of January Update
Posted 11 years agoSo, being broke as hell, I had to skip a lot of the indulgences I'm used to just to make January's bills - cheaper food, less running around, no major investments in my hobbies. I've already sold my xbox, and it was still looking dim. Technically it still is.
However, my cat gives absolutely zero fucks about this. Her usual food is pretty pricey, but it's supposed to be fantastic. After I bought the cat food I could afford, I monitored her intake to make sure she was willing to adjust. Four days with nary a kibble touched. >_>
After exchanging the bag for something she likes that's not QUITE as expensive, she happily plopped her butt down and ate it. I just realized - my cat went on a hunger strike to protest her living conditions. Of all the cats in all the world, why did I get Ghandi?
In other news, life is pretty good. Money has me really worried, but I've been getting a few commissions here and there, and taxes are only a month away from being in my hand. All I have to do is convince my landlord to take payment in form of IOUs, and I'm set.

Fursona Survey
Posted 11 years agoWhat made you choose the species of your main fursona?
I always thought skunks were cute, and they have a lot in common with me: Cute, intelligent, playful, affectionate, fussy eaters, misunderstood, and a little clumsy. I think it's a perfect fit.
Is your fursona just like you, or how you want to be?
She's what I'm trending to become. Same personality, but her confidence level is a little higher than mine, and she doesn't worry quite as much as I do.
Does your fursona have the same personality you have?
Absolutely. Sweet, with a little sassy thrown in for good measure.
Does your fursona have the same dislikes and likes as you do?
I'm still trying to decide that. For the most part, I can't think of anything she'd like that I wouldn't.
Does your fursona look like you at all?
I don't necessarily think so, but then again, I've been told she's a good visual match for me, so...maybe??
Is your fursona the same gender as you, if not why?
Yes
Do you have more then one main fursona?
I have alternate versions of her, but since I see Indigo and myself as the same individual, I don't understand having multiple fursonae.
Do you have a back story for your fursona, if so does it have anything to do with your own history?
If I had a backstory, I would be compelled to create an entire world for her to live in, and that might take awhile. I'm working on an alternate history version of her, in which she's a jazz singer who joins up with a squadron of air pirates in the 1930s. >_> don't judge me!
Is your fursona mated, if so is it to your real life significant other?
I have a wonderful relationship, and though we haven't made anything like that official, I always draw Indigo with the necklace I was given as a sign of our commitment.
If not are they looking for a mate, or are they a swinger so to speak?
Nope. I don't ever date outside a committed relationship. I do, however, snuggle anything that moves.
Is there something special about your fursona that you think sets them apart from others?
I don't see many skunks, and certainly not many lavender ones at that. Aside from that, I don't feel any compulsion to do something odd with her - I want my personality to come through from interaction with me, not from seeing me.
Do you have much art of your main fursona/s?
I don't have much at all. This is a problem that needs fixing!
Would you ever consider parting with your main fursona, if so why?
If I got to a place where she no longer represents what I need her to, I may revise her or change her completely. However, I don't think I'd ever sell the rights to her or anything weird like that.
If you suit, do you have a suit of your main fursona?
I would very much like to have a suit of her, but I'm still deciding how I want to proceed. I like the idea of a partial/full hybrid - full coverage, but thin enough I can still wear clothes - but I'm still fleshing out what I would even do in suit, and that may or may not work.
Have you ever roleplayed with your main fursona, or do you prefer not to?
I don't really roleplay as myself, but I do sometimes have some characteristics from her pop in when I'm on skype with someone.
Do you consider your main fursona to be a part of you in any way?
She's a representation of where I'm headed - the same person I am today, but a little more sure of herself than I've been. She's not just a part of me, she is me.

New Year, New ... Stuff?
Posted 11 years agoListening to: American Authors - Best Day of my Life, Morcheeba - Enjoy the Ride
Hey everyone! Just posting an update on the new year, and my plans and projects. I caught the single most hardcore con crud last month, and STILL haven't shaken it. I either have no voice, or I sound like Roz from Montsters Inc. Certainly not my favorite voice, but good for a laugh.
I'm still open for commissions, but I have a few left to deliver before I can start anything new:
Badge for Caldaq
Tail repair for Hanzerpaws
Tail for Bittergrim
I'm to a point that other than my voice, my energy level is starting to return. Once I feel more normal, I'm going to power through these commissions, then I'm back in business.
I'm open for art trades to build my portfolio. Ink and pencil mostly, but I can do color if requested. I've only had a couple of people ever draw Indigo, so I love to see other people's interpretations of her.
Projects for the year - I don't know if I'll be able to swing it, but I really want to work on my suit. I know it's going to be a massive pain, but it shouldn't be too bad if I do a partial this year, and the full sometime down the road. At least I've been absorbing knowledge from the suiters I've met on what works for them and what doesn't. I think I've already avoided about a dozen awful issues that first time builders run in to.
Oh well, back to drinking my body weight in soup and playing video games!

Commish!
Posted 12 years ago"Money won't solve my problems....well, it could help me with my money problems"
As I've said, money is tight. I have doctor visits and medications coming up, I have to get my car re-registered, and my bills are stacking up faster than I'd like. I'm working towards a new job, but for now it's just not happening. Please check out the commission image I posted for details.

Things...and stuff.
Posted 12 years agoHey all, it's super late here, and I'm heading to bed, I just had this to say.
I love you all.
Even if I haven't ever hugged you, talked with you, or even don't know you...I love you. All of you out there are such beautiful, complex creatures. That complexity is more interesting to me than almost anything else.
~~Also~~
As I embark on my journey towards whatever the fandom has to offer, I only hope that I bring more good than ill to it, and likewise to myself. That said, being a creative person who is a part of a creative fandom, I still feel that I can do more. I want to open up commissions on a trial basis, just a few to enrich my portfolio and hopefully develop my skills. Please message me if you're interested,
5 Spots Available
Sketch, single character, no bg
Must provide reference art
$5, payment due upon completion of work
3 Spots Available
Free art trade, single character

Remember, remember the fifth of November
Posted 12 years agoSo, I figured I'd spend a moment or three saying hello and giving a synopsis of where I am within the fandom that's a little less 'ERMAHGERD MUST MAKE GOOD IMPRESSION' than the about me section of my profile (>_>).
I once joined the fandom long ago, and didn't really get what I thought I wanted out of it. I drew some cute art, had some awesome friends, and generally had a good time, but that wasn't what I was there for. I was hoping the community would save me from my problems. I spent all my time on Second Life and Furcadia, chatting and RPing in the hopes of leaving my ordinary world behind. When I realized that I wasn't actually solving my problems, I divorced myself from the community for a while in order to sort myself out, and realized that there were some deeper issues to fix. Years passed, and my whole outlook changed once I started to understand that wishing for answers doesn't do nearly as well as searching the answers out.
I hadn't drawn furry art in years (and had only done about a dozen pieces before I stopped), so my creative impulses had atrophied. I had never even thought about making a suit, or even interacted with many suiters. Gathering-wise, I had traveled to a dozen or so conventions, but never a furry con. And I still thought that most furries were like I was - unable to handle the real world, and desperate to run away to a fantasy world to avoid it. I'm really glad I was wrong.
Some of my favorite people dragged me kicking and screaming back into the fandom about a month ago, and I found something I never saw before. Lovely people - caring, sweet, dorky people - who just happen to have a whole other way to express themselves. For everyone I've talked to lately, the fandom is a way to express the joys of life, not to escape the sorrows.
So here I stand: An amateur with regards to everything the fandom has to offer, but eager to see what's out there for me. I started drawing again, developing a fursona that describes where I'm at in life more than my previous attempts. I had some intriguing conversations with a few fursuiters about why they do the voodoo that they do, and I'm really wanting to give that whole side of the fandom a whirl. And I find myself wanting to start attending meetups and conventions.
Mostly though, I want an excuse to play. To have an outlet for those emotions and silliness for which daily life doesn't provide a convenient channel. Not as a crutch, but as a pair of moon shoes. YEAH MOON SHOES~!
Stay fuzzy,
~AmyIndigo

Stay fuzzy,
