My birthday is still over a month away but I'm making plans for it already. It's been a few years since I spent it at Halloween Horror Nights and I figure this year is the best year yet to start going again. They've got Alice Cooper, The Walking Dead, and Silent Hill among other things. I'll most likely go on the 13th, 14th, 17th, or 18th and depending on how work goes, I may do just the HHN or the day pass as well. I wouldn't mind meeting up with some furs while I'm there either.

Today I started mulling over the idea of having a local furry art jam. Mostly aimed at those that write, draw, or make music where we could share work, ideas, and input. That's about as far as I've gotten. I have no clue how well this would go over or where it could be held seeing as we would need various supplies and computer access for everyone. Throw you're input about this at me as this is a bit different than the meets I've planned before.

Thanks for the call Yogi and hey all you local furs. You've probably guessed that I've been extra vigilant in electrocuting myself in one way or another. Those ears are coming along slowly as I figure out the coding aspect for myself. In the meantime I've been planning out other electrical projects. I wouldn't mind someone tossing me ideas for stuff to make. I don't really care if it's for entertainment or functional, both work, but I was hoping for some furry themed project ideas I could work on. preferably small scale, nothing costing over $200. Ugh. This was a crappy day for me. Not nearly enough was accomplished today. I'm working up a general schedule for the day's events. I'll put that here when I have it finished in the morning, along with the details from the previous journal. I'm also sending out last minute invites in the morning for those who may have forgotten and don't know their work schedule more than a week in advance.

The forecast is showing a 40% chance of rain, so let us all pray to whatever deity it is that can make the weather ideal for our gathering. Oh, things are over by 7 so you can get out before sundown... which just happens to be 7:11.

All I have planned right now is we will have a 30 minute to hour long meet and greet to start off and an hour long meal time. I want to arrange a time for me and all those bringing food to chat somewhere so we can get that straightened out.

I'm a little late at posting this, but that was due to situations out of my control. The next meet is going to take place at Ponce Inlet on March 23rd. Rules are going to be a bit different this time around since I don't have the patience to deal with them at the current time. Sorry if this puts you out, but things are a little stressful on the home front. I also won't list anyone here unless they/you have sent your RSVP either by note or comment here.

First important note is if you're under 18, bring a parent or legal guardian with you. I don't want you coming by yourself. Like I said before, sorry if this puts you out.
Second, this is a public park, don't do anything rash and please use discretion if families or kids are around.
Third, when you RSVP you will be assigned, or given a choice of, something to bring. I will limit how much it will have to cost you. This will include food for us to eat. I will be bringing some food as well.

Thanks Oonami for reminding me of that extra info. It didn't occur to me that I picked this location since most of the furs I've talked to haven't been here before. The park closes at sundown. I'll probably kick everyone out ~30 minutes before then just to be safe. Bring your dog(s) if you want, just not on the beach. Bring family too, if you want. I want to think of this more as an outdoor social with the common faster being we are or know a furry.

WATCH YOUR SPEED!!! The cops in Ponce Inlet tend to hover the main road there. Probably because nothing really happens there.

I see FA is going to be undergoing maintenance this weekend. So I will further plan and organize the next meet. Come Monday, I'll send out invites and start taking RSVPs.

I've put a bit of thought into what I'll have arranged for the next local Fur Meet. That is the part where I thank the folks that organize the Jacksonville Furs Picnic for giving me the idea to hold the meet at a park. The idea fits the current needs of the meet in every way. We will have a relaxing area where we can chat, eat, play games, and more. This will also give me the control to get everyone interacting, which was an issue with the last meet. This will also make it easier for latecomers to show up since we won't be roving around. If you want to suggest a park or similar location for me to consider in the meantime, please note me.

I am planning to have another Fur Meet in Daytona on a Friday in March. Planning is going slow with some family things that have popped up a since Christmas. I promise to have things more organized. I also plan to use this next meet as a way to organize smaller, special interest meets. For example, a few of us play The Old Republic, others enjoy MTG and the like, and others are more acclimated to outdoor activities. Go ahead and comment here or note me if you're interested in another meet, I want to maximize potential and actual attendance.

Just something I wanted to pop up here. I've been working on various game projects over the past couple years and some of them are to the point where I need to add audio, sounds, and whatnot to them. If you know anyone with field recording equipment and/or info on using such equipment for decent quality wind noises pleas drop a comment or note.

The meet was a resounding success, according to all who showed up. There were some snags along the way which I feel are the cause of bad planning on my part. We are meeting on the 2nd floor walkway between the parking garage and the Ocean Walk, on the east side of the walkway. I will be there early if you want to show up a bit early as well. I've tried to track down as many local furs as possible but I know I've forgotten and even missed some.

To the best of my knowledge, fursuiting will be allowed at all locations in the area except for the ice skating. The theater bathrooms are available for changing in and out of your fursuits.

We have the opportunity for a private meeting room as well.

The day after Christmas, I will have an estimate on how much money you should bring with you. I'm trying to keep this as low as possible. I'll also have a list of things you should bring with you by then as well.

A little note on those that need financial assistance. I understand you may need some and I'm sure some of us are willing and able to assist, but please don't abuse this. Charity is earned and I won't tolerate misuse of what others may give you. If they give you money, ONLY use it for what it is given to you for. If you have any left over, offer it back to them. It's the right thing to do.

I've spent several years with various local groups and have contributed to the community more times than I can recall. If any drama ensues, I will not hesitate to step in. We are doing this to have fun and make friends, please leave any grief someplace else.

The best parking for the Ocean Walk is the parking garage on the west side of A1A. Parking rate is $1.00 per half hour not to exceed $8 in 12 hours. I am looking into alternate parking locations for those that think this is a rip. I am double checking to make sure it hasn't changed recently.

Current estimated max money you will need is $30. This covers parking, a movie, concessions/food, and 2 $7 activities.


Finding all of you and taking this to the next level
The idea is to, ultimately, have a regular meet where local furs can meet, make new friends, socialize, and generaly have loads of fun. There is a shit ton of work to do to make this a regular meet and I may create a google pages site if this gets to where I would like it. Probably the biggest reason for doing this is that one of my close friends came out of the furry closet a couple months ago. This got me thinking there are probably other furs in the area that either don't know how to find the rest of us in the area or think all the furs are everywhere else. I know there are a few different outlets for this: the fa group; the florida furs site; and several other things. I think the main problem here is there are just too many things, some of which are now dead.

Can we make this a regular meet? Yes, but only with your help. There are enough of us in the area that we can set and keep a fair level of organization.

I compiled my very incomplete list from the FA group and the floridafurs site. I'm fairly certain there are more furs, so please let me know so I can add them to this list and send out the invite.

Well, I have a piece I want to commission soon, once I have some more money, and have made a short list of the artists I may be going to. What I have in mind is a little bit of a wildcard since it is using characters created by my friend, subtlefix, who tends to be shy about his stuff. I'm posting the character introduction passage on my main account,  knapaxe. I'm not sure if I should open a dialogue with all these artists at once and see which is more favorable when I'm ready to go ahead with the piece or put them in an order and start at the top going one by one. I intend for this to be a bit of a gift for my friend as well.

Here's a little tidbit for those of you who seem to be watching me. This is furry related BTW.

I just started up the latest version of Minecraft and decided I would start a new level to mess with any changes to the generation algorithms. I got to where I enter the seed. "Hmm, what should I put here." Since I'm a fan of  kmhirosaki I put summerhill as the seed. After I hit the button to generate the world, I just started twitching. I think I'll leave you in suspense here and let all of you try this yourself. I'll link a screenie later, but for now just try it out.
