Megaplex bound!
Posted 7 years agoSo it's official I'll be at Megaplex as a vendor this year! I'll be selling my chainmaile and scalemaile goods most of which will have special upgrade options for suiters.
If there is anything special you want to see let me know now so I can have it ready by then. Examples of my work can be found on on Facebook at www.facebook.com/gypsys.weavings
Also as a side note the hotel for megaplex is sharing space with another event: Belly Dance Masters so we might be fighting for space. Just figured I would let people know.

Role of Furry Support
Posted 8 years agoOk so I'm paraphrasing a term used in the SCA "Fighter Support" but the same idea and roles ably which is why I'm using it.
What is Furry Support? Honestly it's our lifeline. It's what keeps those of us who suit alive at events. You are the most important person to us yet we hardly think to say Thank You.
+You're the person who makes sure the suiter takes a break and stays cool.
+You're the person who walks around with sealed bottles of water and passes them out because you know we forget to hydrate.
+You're the person who keeps bags of snacks at the ready when we suddenly realize we haven't eaten and our blood sugar is crashing.
+You're the person who helps us get into/out of the suit.
+You're the person who walks with us to make sure we don't walk into others, the wall, table, etc.
+Without you we would have to do things alone and that would suck.
You may not suit, or be able to draw. And you know what that's ok! Because we need you more than we need another picture.
So even if no one else thinks to say it know that I am:

Slowly building her
Posted 9 years agoOk so as some of my friends can tell you I'm a nut for looking stuff up and not doing things half way. So here is what I have so far:
Name: Anahita al-Tineen (I go by the name Anakhet in real life and most people call me Ana anyway so this way when people fail at saying my sona's name I"ll still answer. al-Tineen is Farsi for "dragon" roughly. Ok more like air snake but close enough! lol)
Her likes: belly dancing, mythology, armour making, and fire play.
Dislike: not sure if I'm going to do anything personal for her
Age: I was thinking about making her an old dragon but honestly I like the idea of her being younger. Learning her world around her just like how I"m learning the furry world around me.
Dominate/submissive: While I'm a switch in many ways I feel this should be a dominate type of sona. Though if given a chance to be suspended from the ceiling in full gear I'm going for it and don't try to stop me!
Colors: mostly red, but orange and yellow accents with pink claws. Black around my claws and full face.

Wings
Posted 9 years agoSome time ago I ended up with a set of Isis Wings meant for belly dancing. Now for those who don't know me, which is almost everyone on here, I HATE this one dance prop. I feel like it limits a dancer and uses a veil trick known as Butterfly Wings instead. But hey I have these might as well use them right? Has anyone else tried to use them for a suit? Think they will work? For those who don't know what they are here is an image from a dance supply website:

Second Place
Posted 9 years agoSo today I decided to enter a costume contest at Gulf Coast Maker's Con here in Tampa. I'm shocked to say I got second place with my dragon outfit! I didn't think my outfit was that great. It's no where near done, and it's all prototypes but I was told I was wrong. :D
