I've been getting a couple of inquiries as to when the RONSO site will be up and running again. At this time I honestly dont have an answer as I rely on the FurNation staff to give me adequate updates. At the moment however I keep receiving word of updates which never come and as such are unreliable to make decisions regarding the site.

That being said; I've already been looking at alternative hosting solutions. If you happen to know any fur friendly hosting sites; do let me know below!

To be frank this scenario along with other issues out of my control that are affecting the site makes me rethink it all together.

Since Furnation along with RONSO International has been down for most of the month; I've decided to rather cancel the October updates and postpone everything until November when I hope everything will be up and running again.

Well it looks like Furnation is down indefinitely and so is the RONSO International site. No idea when it will be up and running again. Right now though I will have to consider looking at alternative hosting or maybe a mirror service.

That being said; you all can still check out the RONSO Tumblr page is you're hankering for some Ronso goodness.

The Furnation server is down, so that means Ronso International is too.
Im not too worked up about it, but I wish the Furnation staff would at least comment on their Twitter/Facebook/whatever page about what's happening.

Yesterday was my Birthday and was a rather uneventful affair. Will have to compensate this long weekend when I go back to my hometown to celebrate it with family. :V

That being said; shower me with well wishes and affection otherwise you wont get the RONSO August Exclusive Preview today.

Seems like some kind of obligation for furries to announce when they are moving. Which I'am! :>

Not even a big move really; Im just moving from one apartment to another in the same complex. After two years of putting up with noisy neighbors, the constant noise and dust from the parking lot below my window; I jumped at the opportunity to move. Fortunately a place opened up recently and Im moving in tomorrow.

Granted this new place could have it's own set of issues; guess I'll just have to put up with it. I asked them to paint the walls beige since I was so sick and tired of the all-white affair in my current apartment. Thing is though the color they chose kinda looks like grey with a hint of purple when viewed under florescent light. Im not really digging it, but hoping that by filling the place up with my stuff and setting up mood lighting it should look better. Otherwise I have to paint the place myself. :I

How this affects RONSO International or the next update? Who knows! I might find that the place needs some maintenance and I have the spend some cash. Which means no money for exclusives.
So lets hope all is ship-shape when I move in tomorrow!

I was going to write something after the reveal, but it was 5am. Still I felt somewhat obligated to say something considering my standing in the furry fandom with my site and all.
But wow - yeah; I honestly didn't see that coming. I dont know what this says about Square-Enix at large considering they said they would only do this to save themselves financially, but that's another story.~

Naturally this means that we will be getting an HD Nanaki and a whole new generation of Final Fantasy furries will be joining the fandom. On one hand I'am glad; Nanaki artwork has been slowly on the decline - especially in Japan. So I hope this will re-invigorate his following. On the other hand I dont know if I will be able to put up with the influx of normies or even still run the site when the game comes out. I guess we will have to see.

That being said; Im still very excited for this and I hope it's the remake we all deserve.

Since it’s a slow day at work; I think I’ll reflect a bit on the year that has been and the year that’s to come. Feel free to skip to whatever interests you.

2014
It was definitely an interesting year – although it did start out a bit rough. I just started a new job and I was not adjusting well to it. Going from a creative environment to a corporate world was too stark of a difference. Didn’t help that my cat needed to be put down; something that still doesn’t sit well with me since I never got a chance to go home and say goodbye to her. Lot of love for that cat.

Still I was determined to make it a good year. I was determined to go visit somebody very dear to me in the US; something that’s been long overdue and just as much an emotional break as a mental one. Which meant a lot of the year was kinda spent in limbo waiting and saving for this trip. Honestly the only other thing that stood out from last year was when I had my 30th Birthday extravaganza in August. Oh - also having my wisdom teeth removed and being admitted to a hospital for the first time. :I

When the time did finally come in September; it finally felt like my life was actually moving again. I flew out to New York City for a bit of sightseeing before heading off to Seattle. It was also my first time attending a Furry Convention which was bit of a culture shock. I was fortunate enough to finally meet people whom I only knew online and got to meet new folks as well. Unfortunately I got con-grud on the first day and was bed ridden for pretty much the entirety of the con.

I was still in high spirits however, because I got to spend time with the most amazing person; somebody whom means the world to me. For the first time in a long while - I felt content.
It’s an amazing feeling and as somebody stuck in one corner of the world - it’s something I imagine a lot of people take for granted; being able to spend time with a loved one often. All you want to do is just spend some time with that individual and let them know how special they truly are.

Sadly my time ran out there and I had to go back home. Naturally I was in a dire mood. With only the December holidays around the corner – things went back to a state of limbo.
December holidays was pleasant family time, though it was again too short and things that needed to be said never were.
Looking back I would say 2014 was mostly a year drowning in waiting with standout points of elation. Cant say it was a bad year however, especially after the opportunity to spend time in the US. Which made all the waiting and saving worthwhile.

2015
Looking at this year I have more of an idea what I want to do. Due to constantly saving for last year’s trip; I somewhat neglected myself – specifically luxuries like a well-furnished apartment. As such I will be spending more of this year dressing up the place.
Otherwise I think it will be a more self-centered kind of year. Focusing my efforts more on making myself feel good and worrying less about financing overseas trips…well at least until next year. :P

RONSO International

Time for the obligatory report journal now that I've returned from my trip to the USA and my first time at a furry convention. I think I'll break it down for easy reading and only touch on things briefly.

New York City
I started my trip by doing a bit of sightseeing in New York City. It's one of those "must do" things on anybody's list when visiting the US since it's such an iconic city. I pretty much hit all the sightseeing spots; Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Time Square, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Centre, Brooklyn Bridge, 9/11 Memorial, Natural History Museum, the MET and more all in the space of 3 days. Was also fortunate to have caught the show Wicked while I was there too and can honestly say that I'am a fan.
There were some drawbacks though; I cant say I really like New York as a city. I think its because it's too touristy, busy and the supposed "New York tough" means being an asshole to everybody. Let's not kid ourselves; it's not the cleanest place either and be forewarned for ever wanting to use a public restroom.

Moreover there's this odd sense of disbelief in the back of your mind. You see these iconic places on TV growing up, but when you finally see them in person; it feels somewhat lackluster. Its that feeling when you go to Disneyland or Vegas and see a duplicate of a famous monument. It's great and all, but you know its fake. Same thing here, despite knowing it's the real deal.

All and all though; the experience was great and it was a shame I couldn't explore everything that NYC had to offer in the 3 days I was there. I wouldn't mind paying it a visit again, but not anytime soon.

Seattle
I then ventured west to the opposite coast of the US to Seattle to attend my first fur con and visit somebody very dear to me. Seattle is an interesting city; although I cant say I saw the initial appeal - it is no doubt very scenic with it's woodlands and bay area.
Though i did notice a lot of hobos surprisingly - especially of the the crazy variety. Walked past a guy who was pointing and yelling explicits at the pavement. :I
That being said it is a very modern metro area and I can see the appeal of that. Also a great place to live if you're a pluviophile and enjoy rainy weather. Went up the Space Needle and added my name to the guestbook. I was actually surprised that it wasn't as big as I thought it was. It's a city I definitely would visit again although for other reasons besides the city itself.

Rain Furrest
Rain Furrest was my first furry con; it was definitely a culture shock. I've never really hung out with furries before and now suddenly to do it en-masse left me incredibly nervous. It was surreal seeing everybody around the hotel sport their furry ears and tails for everybody to see. It definitely left an impression on the staff whose comments left me both intrigued and embarrassed. Though I got the impression that nobody thought I was a fur because i looked somewhat "normal'? Though admittedly once I attended the con I was nervous that somebody would recognize me looking at my badge and I had no idea how handle the attention. I was actually waiting to hear from one of my friends attending the con to join me, instead of going at it alone. Eventually I mustered up the courage to go alone. I was kinda expecting the con to have been bigger, but I guess because of the hotel's layout everything was kinda spread out. I finally made it to the dealer's den where I quickly browsed what was on offer; recalling that I need to come back to buy comics that one of my friends made. Also got the chance to meet  gideon and  cooner for the first time. I was going to make plans to get sketches form them later on.
I eventually ran into  yasano who helpfully gave me a proper tour of the place and was good company on my first day at the con. I also then ran into my friend  furious for a quick selfie moment before he was swept away. Yasano and I had a quick drink at the hotel restaurant and continued to walk around before I had to follow up with other friends.

Unfortunately...I woke up the next day sick. It seems like I picked up con-crud on the first day and it just killed me off. As a result I was pretty much bed-ridden the whole con and missed out on most of the shenanigans. I did manage to medicate myself enough to join somebody special at the con and to catch the variety show. Late dinner thereafter with said special person and friends, but I was coming down with the chills and my back imploded - I couldn't have stayed and promptly went back to bed.
By the time I actually was feeling better the con was over and I ended up not meeting a lot of people, didn't get sketches or bought the comics I said I would. :c

That being said...
I wasn't too disappointed; as the con was only a bonus to the real reason why I came to Seattle and that was to visit somebody very special to me. I wont go into specifics, but every moment I spent with him was better than anything I've experienced on that trip. It made all the years of waiting worth it and for the first time in a long while I was truly happy.
I think from the whole journey my most fondest memory was driving through west Seattle in the rain while listening to Daft Punk with him.

Aftermath
Unfortunately all things must come to an end and I had to return back to South Africa. It's one thing not wanting to go back home; it's another when it takes almost 2 days to get back there. When I arrived back at my place; it wasn't the best of feelings - complete indifference.
For the past 3 years I think I subconsciously treated this trip almost like an absolute destination more than just break. After the time spent with that special somebody and to have been where I have; it feels like my life has been put on pause again. I guess I also feels bad because I know how long it takes, how much work and how much it would cost if I wanted to go again. I pretty much realized that I have post holiday depression.

Still nobody can take the experience away from me and if anything there is always next time. Hopefully sooner than later.
