Yay.
General | Posted 19 years agoHanded in my paper for Lit crit class. I hope she doesn't realize how slapped together it is. 9,9
Tried to hand in my final portfolio for poetry class, and discovered I'd heard the prof wrong about some things. Gotta recompile it and get it to him tomorrow.
Think some local furs and I will go see 300 tomorrow... I think we planned that at some point, anyways.
I LOVE CHIPOTLE BURRITOS! And I want one. *sobs*

Meh.
General | Posted 19 years agoWell, somehow I managed to hurt my lower back a few weeks ago and it's been bothering me ever since. 9,9 Annoying, and distracting.
In other news, I've acquired a nifty light kit for the proton pack's wand. Gives me some more incentive to finish the darn thing.
I've met with my adviser at school, and I should graduate after two more quarters of classes. Should. It depends on what's offered during the summer quarter.
Incidentally, I've reached level 40 with my human Paladin on the WoW Chromaggus server. Now I should probably move him to a server where people I actually *know* play. 9,9

Yarr.
General | Posted 19 years agoI recently picked up a 14-day trial CD for World of Warcraft, so I installed it and played for probably fifteen hours or so, all told. I like it! I might join up eventually.
I also bought Final Fantasy XII last week in a moment of weakness. I'm really enjoying it! I just wish Fran got more screen-time. ;K) The plot reminds me of Final Fantasy 9 more than any of the FF Tactics games, honestly.
I'm going to try and get some Nerf gun work done this weekend. Poke me to do so! I need motivation.

Commissions!
General | Posted 19 years agoOkay, I'm going to take a few commissions for painted Nerf guns, with an eye to getting them to you in time for Christmas.
Guns I will definitely paint for you:
Maverick (Six-shot revolver)
Nitefinder (One-shot, startling range, infrared dot sight)
Longshot (Nerf sniper rifle, over 3 feet long)
Big Bad Bow (Nerf arrow-launcher, one shot.)
SharpShooter II (Nerf dart pistol. Two barrels.)
Guns I could be persuaded to paint for you:
Firefly (Eight-shot bullpup-style rifle)
Firestorm (Enormous Koosh ring-firing rifle, extreme range)
Lock 'N Load (Older Nerf pistol, Glock look-alike after mod)
Ballzooka (Five-barreled Nerf ball shooter. Holds 15.)
Depending on what people order (if anything) I'll cut this off when I'm approaching a number I know I won't get through before Christmas. I put some pricing info on the commission info page, but I can tailor the gun and price to your needs. Hopefully. ;K)

Ren-faire, school, etc.
General | Posted 19 years agoI attended the Ohio Renaissance Faire in Harveysburg last weekend (my second and final visit this year).
We had fun! My livejournal http://animakitty.livejournal.com has photos. I bought an eyepatch. Yarr!
School has been okay, since a major stupidity-incident three weeks back. I missed a day in my literary criticism class, and missed the most crucial handout I *could* miss in the class, pretty much. It detailed what should be in our first paper (of two in the class), and since I didn't get it (didn't even know it existed) I waited 'til the last minute then checked the syllabus for the paper's requirements...finding nothing of course. So...no paper. That blows a seventh of my grade out of the water right there. The prof accepts no late work whatsoever.
Shortly after that, I got a 60 on test #2, and the prof scribbled on the test "You should probably think about dropping this class." So I did, that night. I'll take it again next quarter. UGH!

Well,
General | Posted 19 years agoSchool has started, and I'm now doing work and school every day of the week. Blargh. Very blargh.
I have started work on painting my disassembled and sanded Longshot, though. (I bought two when they first came out; one for shooting people with and one for taking apart and painting.)
This is the base color, which involved the following chain of paints: Plastic primer, Metalcast Ground coat, three coats of Metalcast 'smoke' color paint.
It's easy to tell the color isn't uniform, and that irks me. Some parts of this gun are just impossible to get good coverage on with aerosol paints. Grr.
I think black and silver will be added to the Longshot here and there, and probably just a little bit of red, because it'd look so nice alongside that Smoke color.
Nerf guns aside, there's been a lot of great work from you artists getting uploaded lately. Good work! There's a ton of delicious furry art to help carry me through this annoyingly busy season. :K)

Longshot Modded
General | Posted 19 years agoOkay, someone on https://www.nerfhq.com modded his Longshot, and with a procedure to follow I repeated his work with mine.
The air restrictor is a monster, and requires some dremel work to get out of the plunger. Once out though, the mod's straightforward. Take apart a Big Bad Bow and add its spring to the one on the Longshot's plunger.
Add two o-rings to the plunger head with its original o-ring, to help seat that ring more firmly in place.
Reassemble the gun, load a clip, and watch it fire darts 60 feet or more. It's quite a bit harder to cock, feeling more like a crossbow than a rifle now. I'll try and get ranges measured tomorrow. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. More power...

New Story, Renovations
General | Posted 19 years agoNew story's up, a short Hyperfur yiff piece I did at work the other day. 9,9
A German Shepherd male hooks up with a herm cougaress, (think Gideon's work,) and they make a grand mess enjoying each other.
I had fun writing the dialogue...it's the epitome of the lame lines people trade sometimes on the MUCKs, knowing they're bad but hoping they're at least entertaining the object of their desire. :KD

Yay!
General | Posted 19 years agoI haven't been able to keep up with the deluge of submissions lately! I had 300 to plow through last night, and over 400 just a few days before that. O,o But you know, I'm not going to complain about a surplus of gorgeous and/or sexy artwork. :KD
I did a bit of a browse today, and picked up around a dozen more talented folks to watch. You all rock! Maggock and Silvermoon in particular are two old favorites that I didn't know were here. If I were to have enormous prints of furry art made and framed for prominent display in my home, chances are excellent both of them would have work on my walls.
I'm cleaning my room. Well...I'm supposed to be. Back to that!

Anthrocon
General | Posted 19 years agoI'll be at AC, from Thursday until Monday, if anyone wants to say hi. I'll be kind of low on cash sadly, but I'll try and buy things from you wonderful artist-people.
If you want to order a Nerf gun from me, let me know, okay? We'll work something out. ;K)

General | Posted 19 years agoThe story I just posted apparently upset someone who's already upset at me.
That story has nothing to do with this person. It's a character I made for use in an actual plotted-story I never finished.
I'd love to have explained this directly, but you've cut off communication lines again, typically.

Music you *must* hear.
General | Posted 19 years agoGo right now to http://www.jonathancoulton.com/songs and listen to 'Re Your Brains', 'Chiron Beta Prime' and 'Code Monkey', and tell me you're not hooked.
This guy writes catchy music with hilarious subjects and lyrics. It's witty stuff; I mean, he writes songs for Popular Science (which I realize is a magazine, but sometimes they require some music, for a fundraising item say.)
Who else can you name who has written a song that's a family writing to relatives on Christmas from the asteroid mining colony they've been banished to by the robots that took over their world? "On every corner there's a giant metal Santa Claus, who watches over us with glowing red eyes--"
Or a song about a guy who's paranoid and afraid of his robot butler, so he has himself beefed up with technology, cyborg implants, to show him who's boss?
My favorite is Re Your Brains, about a bunch of zombies in an office environment trying to convince a coworker to let them in and eat his brains. "I think I speak for all of us when I say I understand, your hesitation to submit to our demands. But here's an FYI, you're all going to die screaming--"
Please, please listen to this stuff. I just *do not* get excited about music, and...I'm excited about this music. o,o This guy deserves your support. You can listen to all the music he has to offer right there on the page, the *full* song, and if you like it you can pay a buck for the track, or buy the whole album and save a few bucks. Or if you have no money but still want to have it, it's under the Creative Commons license, so...

Whee! o,O School; *waves to Maxblackrabbit*; and allergies.
General | Posted 19 years agoSchool's kicking my tail lately, so no new painted Nerf guns to show off...and certainly no stories at the moment, though I did start a new one a few weeks ago. Silly idea really, just an excuse-of-a-plot to do all sorts of bizarre kinky things. o,O
Maxblackrabbit watched *me?* That's...odd. Flattering but odd. :KD
Aaaand allergies are making me miserable. But I'll MAKE IT! Summer is just a few weeks away, and I'll have most of June free twice a week, until I switch over to full-time at work in July.

Shouts
General | Posted 19 years agoI don't want people to think I'm antisocial or anything, so...
Thank you all for the watches, the fav's, and the comments!
And artists, thank you for the thank-yous for watches, fav's and comments!
(See, I just think it's a bad idea to crowd someone's userpage with shouts of thank-yous. I do appreciate it, I just don't want to make that much of a mess. :K) )
I'm SO SICK OF SCHOOL! ARGH!

Depressed
General | Posted 19 years agoI'm a depressed kat. I seem stuck in an awful rut. School, work. School, work. Paint some Nerf guns. Come online and get a chance to see my friends. Repeat.
Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Weekend of laziness in which I don't get the things done I should. Return to line 1.
I spent the better part of the past two days in bed, shirking responsibilities to just...hide from all the stuff I've been keeping up with...but hate.
Sorry to be so whiny. I'm just really pissed at everything right now.

Nerf Excerpt
General | Posted 20 years agoHere's a chunk from the Nerf gun painting guide I just uploaded:
Vinyl Dye:
Any plastic that hasn't been painted is a candidate for vinyl dye. You'll always want to go with vinyl dye when you can, (though the color palette is limited) because vinyl dye will give you a clean color that won't chip, scratch, or peel. Why? Because vinyl dye actually sinks into the plastic, instead of merely covering it like conventional paint. You can find it at autoparts stores. I use the Duplicolor brand myself, because it's easily obtainable and gives good results.
Anyways, final exams start this week. I'M GONNA DIE!!! ;,;
