Looking for a room at Midwest Furfest
Posted 9 years agoHey everyone,
its been quite a while since my last journal but its true! I would like to go to MFF this year and am just about to buy my plane tickets but I need to nail down my hotel arrangements before buying nonrefundable plane tickets. Holy crap! How did it get so late in the year, that's only weeks away!
I've got a reputation of being rock solid dependable about paying, I should arrive late thursday afternoon and leaving Monday. If you know someone that could help hook me up, I'd be forever grateful. While I'd love to wind up in the main hotel, the adjacent hotels are alright too, but preferably within walking distance.
Let me know if you can help, I wouldn't want to miss out on seeing all of you awesome folks in a few weeks!

Anyone have any bluetooth headset recommendations?
Posted 11 years agoHey everyone, looking to buy a bluetooth headset to use with skype, something not too expensive, but the headset I've got is great, I'm just sick and tired of dealing with the cord.
Any links and suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks~!

Everyone have a good Valentine's day?
Posted 11 years agoHey everyone, I didn't want to leave another 'Valentine's hate' journal or anything.
Just to be sure, I'm not involved with anyone right now, BUT when it comes to something like this you've got to just make the best of it -do something out of the ordinary or something just for yourself.
I went to the 'Spicy Crab and Crawfish' restaurant here in St. Cloud.
Here's a pic -because that's the hipster thing to do, right? (hehe)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u.....5/IMG_0809.JPG
Later on this evening I got together with friends and went to a martini bar, and had a pretty good night. I had a very stressful week this week with so many people getting "sick" or on vacation.
All in all I hope all of you had a good day. Valentine's has always been a day to do something special with a loved one, but if you're alone it can kind of stink. Whatever you did today, I hope you had some fun, and tried to do something you liked.
Last of all I'm grateful for all of you, the people that watch me, friends and everyone who takes the time to read this journal. I've got plenty of work that I'm coloring currently. I'm working through the winter 'blahs' but there will be more awesome artwork to post soon ^^

Wait what? I passed THREE THOUSAND WATCHERS!?
Posted 12 years agoWow,
I was a bit surprised that someone pointed this out to me the other day and am sorry its only now that I'm getting around to it.
First of all, thanks for watching everyone! When I first started to become more and more active in this site, I was surprised how many people liked my artwork and that that I had posted. Since then, I'd gotten to meet a lot of great people, artists and so on throughout my time in the furry fandom. It'd take far too long to thank everyone and list the good times I'd had -well that and most of you would probably moved onto something more interesting in the meantime.
So, before I let more time pass, I want to thank all of you. I want to go to more conventions, commisison more art, and meet more of you!
--Alright so before I go further, I do owe a lot of thanks to
badgerben for all the artwork he was kind enough to work on with me, and that's been posted here. I didn't get here all on my own artwork, that I'll acknowledge, but regardless of that I really am thankful for each and every one of you that takes their time to pay attention to my shenanegans!
Short term plans:
-Yikes, I've got to get the next Couch pony up tonight!
-going to take a break from the couch and work on another picture in a series I KNOW a lot of you have been waiting on. -but no worries, there's more for the couch after that! ^^
Going to MFF? I'll see you there. I would have loved to have gone to AC or Bronycon this year, I'm pretty bummed out about missing those, but at the very least, I'm going to really hope that MFF blows my socks off! Thanks!

E3 predictions? What are you looking forward to/fav trailer?
Posted 12 years agoAlrighty, we're on the cusp of a new console launch and personally I'm a bit apathetic to this launch. I'm excited, sure, but the closer that consoles get to PC's and integration with social media, sometimes I think I'd just be better off on the PC.
I'm note here to stir up any pc/360/PS4 controversy, just interested in what you guys are looking forward to. No matter what hardware you're using, a new generation represents the possibility of all sorts of fun new innovations and games. I'm kind of lukewarm to the whole thing as we've not seen a whole lot up until now, and the only thing that for sure has been announced is sequels.
I don't know if 'always online' DRM will come into play or not, or if this generation will stamp out those filthy use game peddlers (in their view)
So, predictions, hopes, dreams? Which games do you want to see more of -or less of for that matter.
****
Here's a classic. I remember back in 2008 the Wii was the new hotness and they were about to announce their new game 'Wii Music' all the Nintendo reps were on hand excited and ready to show it to their audience. After this performance the audience just kind of sat there dumbfounded, probably feeling embarassed for all involved.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DM2DCflkA6s
as for me, I knew it was the time to get rid of my Wii. I have no confidence in their new console, but in cases like this I like to be proven wrong. Prove me wrong Nintnendo, show us what you can do this time around!

Movie terms by Anjuneko -Soul bladder
Posted 13 years agoHey, I had thought of this a while back and was wondering what people thought.
Soul Bladder -a container for the soul, once ruptured, causes instant death.
How many times have you seen a movie where someone is shot, they grimace and immediately die, even from an unlikely gunshot wound?
Example: If you were shot in the stomach, the injury could fester for HOURS is not DAYS before the victim actually dies, whereas in the movies, once this container for the soul is ruptured, the soul escapes and the person dies.
What do you think? Have any other movie terms you want to share?

Huge Luna plush for sale -as featured on Equestria Daily!
Posted 13 years agohey everyone, a good friend of mine
amethystangel has just had her plush featured on Equestria daily
http://www.equestriadaily.com/2012/.....lation-90.html
Check out her deviantart page at:
http://amethystarmor.deviantart.com/gallery/
She could use some help! Spread the word, leave her come feedback, bid if you can! It's not easy to tell from the first picture, but this stands (from hoof to horn) at a full 36" tall!!
Teresa spent a long time on this one, I'd say she's worked on this one off and on since this spring, and she definitely puts a lot of work into it. She's fallen into a bit of some financial difficulty as of late so I hope this helps, I'm trying to do all I can to put the word out as best I can.
And now...TO THE AUCTION!!!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/My-Little-P...../140876143839?
Bid if you can, spread the word and link back to Ebay otherwise, we've got just under ten days to get this one out there!

just another 'Back from Anthrocon' Journal!
Posted 13 years agoIf you're not sick and tired of reading these yet, here's one more! I know I'm late, but I wanted to post a quick note to thank everyone for what's probably been one of the better Anthrocon outings for me.
Before I begin, I couldn't possibly list everyone here that I saw and met up with. Every year I go I meet more and more people that I talk to online, and it becomes a much better experience every time. I'd always dreaded not finding my friends and having a lack of things to do, which at a convention this size is inevitable at some point. Thankfully though the times I found myself alone, I was thankful for a bit of a break.
People of note:
dewclawpaw and
revadiehard it was a blast meeting you Paw for the first time. I was glad to have met up with the two of you, and it was fun hanging out, you two were great!
yifferfox
doggytreat
pimpuigi always a blast to meet up with you guys, Ben, I know you're busy and you got called away a lot, but I come to expect that. No worries, I really did have a great time!
zerohenny it was great to meet up with you, I didn't see you much past Saturday, but I hope this con was a good one for you too, man!
Let's see, my roommates:
stahi
sirkain
zenguin Thanks for a fun weekend together. I'd gladly be your roommate again!
In short, what made the weekend really great was all the people that I'd met up with during the weekend. I felt much more in the mood to draw than I did last year, and I even did a few treades as well! Special thanks to
plasmacat I'd wanted to meet up with you for a long time man, it was a pleasure! One of my goals for next year is to try to be in the Artists Alley for a bit. I'm a bit slow and really self conscious at times but I'll do my best to draw something you like ^^
OH! One last thing- this year I had NO TAKE HOME COMMISSIONS to worry about, everything was done before the convention. I thought for sure
gideon was going to miss me before he had to take off. I tweeted and SECONDS later he called me! OH DAYYYUM!!! I felt really bad about that, man, he's amazing. I doubt he'll read this but I am sorry about that and again I thank you. I always look forward to buying some sketches from you whenever I meet up with you at a convention, thanks!
special thanks to
maxblackrabbit for bringing my artwork again, Azuul looks amazing, always a pleasure to see you sir!
Does anyone know what happened to
dcrabbit? he was signed up for artists alley for saturday and Sunday. i was hoping to pick up my commission from a few years back, but...oh well, maybe next year! -or MFF, which is hopefully my next convention!
So many people I wanted to meet up with, but somehow missed over the course of the weekend including
furian who caught me walking through the Zoo minutes before he had to leave for the weekend. If anyone else I left out I apologize, this journal's already riddled with icons!

Posted 14 years agoHey everyone, just helping a good friend of mine to sell her Fluttershy plush in time for Christmas! I can't believe I'd convinced her to put one together, and I think it turned out super cute!
The only thing I wish is that she'd left me enough time to promote this a little bit better. As is this has just UNDER two days to go, yikes! There's only one bid at $49.99 so far, so chances are good!
I hope nobody minds me trying to promote a friend for Christmas, but I had to act quickly! Two days to go people!

Looking for an artist to to a birthday bukkake picture
Posted 14 years agoHmm, my birthday is in a few weeks and I was looking to find an artist that wouldn't mind doing a bit of a messy pic for my birthday.
I'm looking to PAY an artist ~there's no begging here, I just need some recommendations, if someone has someone in mind. If you know someone that might fit the bill, let me know please! I realize this is a bit short notice my birthday is on Novebmer 8th, and would love the picture by that day if possible, but willing to work around that otherwise.
I honestly don't know who to ask, two people I had really been looking forward to asking shot me down already.
Again, I'm not trolling for free artwork, I would to know who would be cool to work with.
Thanks in advance!

When did you realized you were a fan of MLP?
Posted 14 years agoLike many of you, I was really skeptical when I heard about the reboot of the MLP franchise. In the past I'd seen series come and go. Corporate America likes to repeat a winning formula and generally speaking they do so with a much smaller budget since they know that the franchise in question usually has a bit of nostalgia based on it and there's simply not much required to restart it. A reboot is usually given very little attention to detail in this regard since it's considered a 'safe bet' and it's easy to convince investors that instead of trying to create a risky new franchise. It's far easier working with an established franchise, wringing the last golden drops of nostalgia out of their fanbase, leaving the franchise used up and tossed aside. There's so much of this happening, in fact I wonder what kids will be nostalgic ABOUT when they are in their thirties.
There's also a perception that cartoons are simply 'big dumb loud things to sell crap to kids for. They don't mean anything, they're just something to mesmerize a kid long enough so mom and dad can get some peace.' I'd always liked animation, and was saddened in recent years at the decline in quality and the number of new shows.
Maybe they always had been a corporate shill, but at one time they were magical, fun and amazing. It was refreshing to see a lot of the animation from Cartoon Network in recent years. Such noteworthy titles as 'Samurai Jack' 'Powerpuff Girls' and many more. So when I finally got around to watching some of it I was blown away by the quality and care that they had used to create this universe. Everyone was alive had their own personalities. The music was pretty good to listen to, and the lessons -oh sweet lord the lessons were actually well written and easy to understand.
This in itself is the corporate by product shows, you see any of them and you can see 'the obligatory sharing eposide' the 'believing in yourself episode' and so on.
TLDR Version:
6 months ago:
"My little pony reboot? I suppose, they're remaking everything else....."

"The animation's actually pretty good for flash, as is the music....and a lot of good people from my favorite series are working on this...seriously?

are you sick of 'Back from AC journals?' -here's one more!
Posted 14 years agoHey,
Just back from AC and I have to say that this was probably the best convention I'd been to so far. There was only minor misunderstandings or drama. As a whole the weekend was pretty good. Speaking of all of them were awesome and we got along really well but sometimes when we went out together it was a bit of a problem. Given the choice I would have been in a closer hotel, but the Doubletree was spacious and despite having six other roomates we all seemed to have plenty of room. Plus! It's the only hotel I know of that offers cookies by request. I remember one night about 2 am, I was walking in with
Dr-bored and we got fresh baked cookies!
I'm trying to get to know more people and be more social, god if I tried to list all the awesome people I'd met up with, I'm going to leave someone out. I burned pretty hardcore on artwork just before AC this year, otherwise I think I would have drawn a lot more. I got a few sketchy sketches done but next year will be different for sure.
It was great to have my work in the art show but I didn't have enough original art as I would have liked. There didn't seem to be a lot of bidding this year in general in the show. I remember talking to two artists on the adult side that looked really upset that nobody bid on their artwork. While it can be frustrating the way I look at is that I try to put together artwork involving the things I like. I know people her like them, but money's tight, I take no offense. Anyone, especially new artists can get lost in the shuffle especially when you're in the same area as so many famous artists. I'll work harder and bring more next year, I'm not discouraged at all, my decals were expensive to print! I'll try something different next year.
Highlights:
-met and talked to Duo for a bit, got to pick through some sketches
-so many awesome people I commissioned this year while I was back
-got one of my roommates to flash me and jiggle her boobs a bit
-Got on a commission list for
maxblackrabbit
-met up with good friends (too many to list)
-picked up artwork from over the last year from other artists
-dunkin' donuts down the street from my hotel!
Events:
-Walked in on my roomates having sex not ONCE, TWICE, but THREE TIMES (two different couples)
-had my stuff in the art show!
Lowlights:
-wasn't able to have nearly as much original artwork in the show as I would have liked
-two words 'Pramanti Bros.' this trip was total fail. Using GPS we tried to locate the restaurant and wound up taking super long way around through some really awful neighborhoods. Everyone was upset for one reason or another and the food was pretty awful.
-Despite the two year wait was still unable to get my artwork from
DCrabbit
What I'd like to see changed:
-Bad Dragon -seriously, they need their own area or a tent or something. They need to showcase their stuff openly to keep their area from being so crowded
-the art show check pickup process -sweet baby jeebuz this took a LONG time!
-artsts alley checkout. I wasnt' in the alley this year, but there were times that the purchase line wrapped around the entire area. Artists I knew had to wait in line at the end of the day for between an hour to two hours
TLDR: Awesome time overall, give me a shoutout if you met me and had a great time too!

Krystal or Lovie laptop decals anyone?
Posted 14 years agoHey,
Just a bit of shameless self promotion here. I'm going to see if I can get a few decals of Krystal to sell at the show. I'll have a few 15" x 10" and a few 12" x 8" -use 'em for your PC tower, sketchbook, gaming console, whatever you'd like.
Krystal:

Ten things about me...IT'S A FACT!!!
Posted 14 years agoI was tagged by
KarenMobius for this task!
1. I grew up in Bismarck, ND -a great place to raise a family...or a houseplant. So I left!
2. I'm a 'recovering Otaku' been in the anime fandom for YEARS and finally burned out on it, too many memes, too much repetition, too much money spent. There's almost no need to network anymore, and well I could go on for a while here...
3. My favorite drink is Absinthe!
4. I WAS MARRIED once! -I wouldn't recommend it
5. Been gaming ever since the atari and colecovision days. I survived the motherfuckin' CONSOLE WARS dawg!
6. My favored console atm is the 360 I need to CHANGE MY GAMERTAG!!
7. Used to be big into PC gaming, I need to let SHOWKAIZER have his gamertag back, seriously! ~ffffuuuu....
8. Currently unnattached....~~~LLLLLLADIES...? (hehe)
9. Am thinking about doing commissions, I'm slow, but very easy to get ahold of and my main goal is to improve and make people happy.
10. 'Anju' was a catgirl I made up a long time ago when I was bigger into anime. She was a sweet girl but I kind of grew out of her as I great out of the anime fandom. I really should find pictures I drew of her and upload at least one of those, or reinvent her at some point. As time went on she wound up in just about everything for me as far as user names and whatnot goes, well except when it came to PC gaming. I swear I didn't know at the time ^^:

What the HELL do I do with all of these anime soundtracks!?
Posted 14 years agoOkay so years ago I was a ginormous anime fan and before Torrents and crafty google searches, the literal only way to get an anime soundtrack was to buy one legitimately, or go through chinese importers. I did this a lot and bought a ton of anime soundtracks, several hundred, really.
SO MANY to list, but I have a lot of popular series, all complete in jewel caes and booklets. They all sound great and have full color printing on the lables and the CD's themselves in most cases. I have so many I would list, but I have to ask....
Would anyone be interested in buying anything if I went to the trouble of listing them? I wouldn't charge much, but i'm literally at a loss as to what to do with them as since I have completely left the anime fandom as a whole...

It's over um...TEN THOUSAND!! you guys are awesome!
Posted 14 years agoHey everyone!,
I logged onto FA this morning and as a surprise I found that I had over ten thousand favorites! I'm really humbled, honestly. I think I've got a long way to go, but looking back I have gotten a bit better. I do have some commissioned work in my gallery for sure and that DID contribute to that total for sure. I had a portrait of ZZ (whose original artwork I credit to MBR of course) and a few others, but even at that its really it's pretty staggering the response.
For the most part I haven't uploaded commissioned artwork to my page simply because I'd rather the artist get the credit and whenever possible I'd mentioned them or tried to give as much cred as possible.
I'd met a lot of good people on the site and I'd love thank you all, really. Don't worry I'm not letting it go to my head or anything like that, I'll just keep on bein' awesome! *hehe*
A question: Should I take on more commissions to earn money to get to AC, or should I try to put together some artwork for the show?

Best Buy F***** my Xbox!
Posted 15 years agoAh fun times! So, for the THIRD time I'm having my Xbox 360 replaced, which makes four that I've gone through...in under three years.
It gets better:
I (Like a chump) decided to buy Best Buy's extended warranty because I knew the re were issues and that I would likely have to have it replaced. Wanting to avoid the issue, I bought this warranty. A waranty that, having been used, was no longer valid. The first and second times there were price drops, so in a real sense I paid $10 the subsequent two times to have it replaced. -This was acceptable.
But it gets EVEN better....
The third time I had it replaced, they changed their policies. It was now sent out to the service center, and would be mailed to me. This completely negates the benefit of the warranty altogether since the turnaround time with Microsoft is exactly the same. There is no benefit.
But here's the best part, I promise...
Now, since I've sent my Xbox off to what I was told when I called their customer support that it was still eligible with my shiny new 'E-74' Error. So when I sent it off, about a week later they're denying me a fix because the machine's been tampered with:
QUOTE:
"We were not able to provide warranty service for your XBOX 360 console. Our standard inspection revealed that one or more of the following conditions exist, voiding the XBOX 360 Limited Warranty:
· The anti-tampering label on your console is damaged or missing
· We found pry marks, indications of forced entry, or other signs of tampering on the console
The Xbox Limited Warranty states that the warranty shall not apply, and Microsoft shall have no liability, if your console has been tampered with or has been repaired, modified, or altered anywhere other than at a Microsoft authorized repair center."
So yes, Best Buy attempted to fix and replace parts in it themselves. Now when I bought the warranty they agreed to swap it out with one on the shelf, but the terms changed.
This is really messed up. I know I'm late to the party for xbox bitching, but really who wouldn't be pissed after all this bullshit?
The message is clear:
Don't buy Best Buy's warranty. It's a 'use it once and it's gone' sort of warranty. It's stupid to state that having them fix it will void Microsoft's warranty, but that's not what I agreed to, but their terms changed. So pray you don't get the RROD or E74 error more than once because Best Buy won't honor that warranty more than once, and Microsoft won't honor it after Best Buy's gone in there and sodomized it.
