How to get a touchscreen sensitive tablet for about $500
Posted 16 years agoHey everyone!
Just thought I'd share this info with you. I recently bought a tablet PC with touchscreen sensitivity, similar to using a Centique tablet, but with better mobility. I had recently looked into this for work, and found that most tablet PC's are around $2000 brand new. If you buy them used, you can save quite a bit. Follow this link:
http://www.gainsaver.com/Catalog/De.....mp;version=107
The list price is only $410, BUT be sure to choose the "view anywhere" screen, which adds $59. I chose this option since I don't want to be fighting glare anywhere I go.
--Ram, is also important, but buy it here:
http://www.pcmemorystore.com/Motion.....let_PC-LE1600_(Celeron)-ram.htm
It's $16.99 here, versus the $69.99 through Gainsaver, it's very easy to install, also.
This device only has a 30 gb HDD, and it's Celeron processor is only 1.5ghz, but it's a fairly lightweight, portable device for OC sessions, and is powerful enough to run photoshop, or just about anything else you'd need.
Also, buying the protection plan's not a bad idea either, but that'll set you back between $40-$150.
As an option, screen protectors that last approx. a year can be bought here for about $13 apiece.

Well that's about it. Hopefully some of you can find this useful!

Who Likes energy drinks? And AMAZING DEALS??
Posted 16 years agoHey everyone, I just came across this link today on my search for amazing deals. I'm going to go for it. In short I'm going to get 72 bottles of Headshot Energy Drink (4oz) for $30!
Sounds like a deal to me, and one I didn't want to simply pass up! It may be a pricing mistake, but I'm going to take my chances. Worst case scenario? They don't charge me and I simply don't get the drinks

Thanks to everyone that made AC great!
Posted 16 years agoHey! I just wanted to send a thanks out to everyone that I met at AC this year. This was my first year, and I have to say that there were so many cool people, certainly too many to list that really made it fantastic this year!
So many talented people, and artists it really blew me away. I finally was able to put faces to names. I had a mental image of everyone and I was wrong on them all!
So many people to thank. I wish I could have commissioned you all. ~though if you saw me in the dealers' room, I certainly went nuts!
I'll definitely be coming back next year. I want to at the very least have something in the show and hope to see you all again next year.
Who knows what the budget holds? I'd certainly like to to to FurFright, MFF, or FC, but we'll have to see what the budget holds.

Billy Mayes dies -tragedy always comes in threes....
Posted 16 years agoWhen I heard I about Farrah Fawcett -I said:
"She was still alive? I thought she died about ten years ago."
When I heard Michael Jackson Died I said:
I thought he would have wound up dead years ago
But when I heard about Billy Mayes this morning, I said:
What? Wait -no, it's too soon. How in the hell am I going to get this stain out of the capet? How am I going to cook mini hamburgers -why Jeebus? Why??
-Indeed it's tragic -it really is. I'm not playing this down, nor do I mean disrespect. Farrah carried on for a good number of years with cancer. Michael, somehow managed to remain in the spotlight for decades despite his lifestyle choices, plastic surgery, and so on. Billy mays though, that really was a surprise. It will not be the same seeing an informercial and not hearing his voice.
What was your first reaction to any one of these deaths?

What's the best and worst thing about a big convention?
Posted 16 years agoAnthrocon will be my first furry convention. I've been to a lot of anime conventions, and I imagine the pitfalls are much the same, but I wonder what you think.
Also ~ never been to Pittsburgh. Where do you go eat when you're in town?

Should I have an oil painting for next year's Anthrocon?
Posted 16 years agoI was just curious. I've been thinking of starting on yet another oil painting at some point ans was wondering if there would be any interest in it for next year's anthrocon. I'll have to paint one of my own characters -I have several more in mind beyond Anna and Candi. This way I could avoid copyright issues and be free to sell it.
What would you like to see? I'd have to keep it fairly small -but I'd like to know what you would like -or if it's even worth it.

What's the funniest convention experience you've had?
Posted 16 years agoHey!
Here's a funny convention experince I had. Feel free to add yours, or comment!
About four years ago, some friends and I decided to go to AnimeIowa in DesMoines, IA. The convention center is downtown, but a good walk from the best places to eat. Since it's only about ten blocks, my friend Teresa and I decided to walk to a Chinese restaurant. About halfway there we were approached by a homeless man. He was black, mid forties, and approached me with a smile. He asked if I could spare some money -that's when Teresa FREAKED out. She hid behind me and then started to back away. He was surprised and tried to reassure her that he wasn't crazy or anything. (not that that helps in that situation.) I'm a skinny white dude, so hiding behind me isn't going to do any good. I looked into my wallet to see if I could give him some money, and *to my horror* I found that I had =ALL= my convention money on me. I gave him a $10, (she smallest I had) and he thanked me. He continued to try to reassure Teresa, but she kept getting more and more nervous.
That's when I pull out this line:
"C'mon baby, it's all good..." -obviously bewildered my my comment he laughed, and we did the 'respeck knuckles' and the one arm man hug. We waved goodbye, and went along to dinner.
Later Teresa told me she was afraid of being raped. I have to explain -while Teresa is a good friend there's a reason she's 36 and a virgin. Without being mean -trust me, she had nothing to worry about.

Going to my first convention -any advice/pitfalls? Meet me?
Posted 16 years agoI'm making my plans to go to Anthrocon this year. This will be the first furry convention that I will have ever gone to. I've been to anime cons and a few others, but being new to the furry fandom, and this convention in general what advice would you give? I've never been to Pittsburgh, either.
I'm looking forward to it, and if any of you are going to be there, let me know, maybe we can meet up and trade sketches or something cool like that. I plan to be there Thursday afternoon through monday morning, so there'll be PLENTY of time to do whatever.
I may be new to the fandom, but this is really going to be the highlight of my summer. I've loved so many people's artwork, it's really going to be just an amazingly cool opportunity to meet anyone that's going to be there.
I'd display the Zig Zag painting, but unfortunately it's just too big to take. That, and the last time, my bag was COMPLETELY destroyed by the airline.
