I'M FUCKING CURSED!
Posted 12 years agoSo, I freaking love Borderlands 2. It's awesome. I seem to be doomed not to play it, however. Months back, my controller started acting up. While I was trying to get it working again, I bumped the console, causing the disk to get a big circular scratch that made it unplayable. No borderlands for months.
I finally got it replaced a month or two ago. Today my chair got tipped over while I was taking something off of it. Fell over. Missed the console, but bumped the stand it was on. Now the replacement disk has the exact same scratch as the original. The. Exact. Same. Scratch.
I take good care of my games. I have never gotten this kind of damage on any other game I own. Ever. Yet it's happened to Borderlands 2 twice.
What the absolute fuck, reality?

It's Been A Long Road
Posted 12 years agoI have to say, I've had a lot of fun these past few years. I've met a lot of great people, and I'll never forget any of you. However, there comes a time in everyone's life when they realize that it's time to move on. For about ten years now, I've been putting that off. I've been watching cartoons and playing games long past the point where someone my age should be putting away their toys and ready to face the real world. The world of adults, not children.
It's finally time for me to be an adult. Starting this month, I'm going to be putting my skills to work where they belong. In the office. I've been putting in a lot of applications lately, and I'll be going to work as an administrative assistant at the local accounting office, starting next week, while I study to become a CPA. This is an exciting move for me, and promises to bring financial stability, a lot of future success, and a chance to get introduced to a new social circle that will help me to advance in the grown-up world.
I'll miss all my "kid" friends, but when you're an adult, you have to put these sorts of things behind you, or it will only hold you back. That's why I'm going to be giving all my games to Goodwill. It'll be a clean break, and give the chance for children that wouldn't otherwise have the chance to experience the joy of games while they're still young enough to enjoy it. I don't want anyone else to have to go through a period of being an overgrown "manchild" like I had to, still playing with their Nintendos and X-Boxes and other toys for children when they should be taking responsibility and accepting the facts of life. Getting to play is wonderful, but there comes a point when playtime is over, and when you're an adult, you need to accept that.
Finally, this can be considered my official "retirement" from Fur Affinity, and the "furry" community at large. While I would be lying if I said that I didn't feel that being associated with a fetish "community" would be risky to my social status, the reason is really simpler than that. My interest in anthropomorphic animals has always stemmed from my love of cartoons, another childish impulse that I'm ready to put behind me. While the 'toons are fun to watch, they're really just visual junkfood. It's an immature past-time that I just can't be indulging in as a serious adult. We like to pretend it's not true, but the fact is that cartoons are just a mindless form of entertainment. They lack the subtlety, complexity, and storytelling of adult programs, and I honestly don't think that it's possible to capture a serious story through the bright flashy colours and loud sounds of cartoons. You need to have real, gritty imagery - actual people and physical sets - to properly convey a story with the seriousness and maturity to talk about grown-up subject matter. Cartoons can't do that, and we shouldn't try to make them.
So, in closing...
If I ever say any of this kind of bullshit with a straight face, I want any of you who are my real friends to come to my house, throw me in a sack, and do whatever it takes to get the Yeerk out of my head!

I can cook onigiri?
Posted 12 years agoInsomnia is a harsh companion to keep. It often interferes with me socially, in spite of my best intentions. So it was that, tonight, I found myself looking at thatguywiththeglasses.com only a few hours after I had tried to go to bed. It was there that I learned that "Jew Wario", a longtime member of the site, had left to go solo, and found my way to his site, youcanplaythis.com.
I'm quite glad I did. While I enjoyed the few JW videos I watched on thatguywiththeglasses, I never really saw that much of his work. Checking out his site I got to see just how much I liked it. There was something else, though...I discovered a new series of videos he's begun, called "You Can Cook This". Those who know me know that I love to cook. So I checked this out. He shows easy, affordable Japanese recipes that anyone can make. As luck would have it, a mix-up involving looking for bargains and being in the wrong aisle at the right time led to my usual supply of white rice being replaced with some Japanese sticky rice. A few minutes of watching videos later, I now know how I can use this to make onigiri, or Japanese rice balls. Hooray!
