Rolling Stone Magazine proclaimed that it was the nation's best music station. A former Sex Pistol hosted a show 2 hours a day on weekdays. They played a lot of local bands that later went on to get larger fame, like Silversun Pickups and The Airborne Toxic Event.

And now 5 years after it came on the air...Los Angeles and Orange County's Indie 103.1 is no more.

According to the station, went went off the air this morning, the decision was made because of pressure from the suits to play more music like Britney, Puffy, and KROQ-style alternative (fellow southern californians will now exactly what I'm talking about- Lincoln Park, Disturbed, etc etc). Indie didn't want to cave in and compromise its sound and its style- and so it's gone. I suspect the economy is involved here somehow as well.

A moment of silence please for the only tolerable music station in southern California -_-

Anya is a fangirl at times. *blush*

My lizard of nearly five years, Qasil, has passed away. Her death came suddenly; just yesterday she was happily basking in her favorite basking spot and snuggling next to her mate Cherooko.

She was a western fence lizard, and well past the average lifespan for these small lizards. I hope that she had as comfortable and happy a life as it was long.

I named her Qasil because it was the Chumash Indian word for "Beautiful." Even though her colors faded with age, she was still beautiful to me.

Here's to you, Qasil. I hope there's mealworms and someplace warm waiting for you on the other side.

I finally got the desire up to update not only this journal (obviously) but also put up a bunch of art work that was long past putting up, not only because of the recent outtage on FA, but because of my own laziness.

Anyways...what to say. Hmmm. Well school is starting up soon for me (August 26th), and so I'm going to be busy working on senior thesis type stuff. Also, I am going to be in an art show called Art Heals where I have four pieces up for sale at about $200 apiece.

Feels good just to freshen up this page a bit ^^

OK, so it's technically at the time of me writing this still going on, but I just went on Saturday and don't plan on going today (Irvine is far!).

But that being said, Califur was a great time. I went with Podge and it was his first con ^^. This makes numero tres for me. I met a few people, spent too much money, the usual thing. Enjoyed the cabaret and the pet auction.

Some of the events seemed to have been canceled? I know they got rid of the live reptiles that I think were planned for the reptile meet at one point, which kind of sucked : We also offended the wedding reception that was going on at the same time, which forced the hotel to cordon off half of the lobby from us trouble-causing furs. Oh well.

Hope to go back next year, and thinking about going to the next FC. Next furry event for me will prolly be the FurBQ in June :D

In other news, I have decided that I want to make a new fursona...not give up my old one, but to take on another one as well. This one would a raptor, a feathered velociraptor most likely. with both a feral form and an anthro one. Her name would be Topaz (describing her color). Stay tuned for new arts featuring her.

I worked myself sick a couple days ago and wound up in the ER. Inexplicably, I started puking and couldn't stop. I won't go into the details. Fast forward a few hours, and I got an IV in my arm getting fluids cuz of dehydration (from the aforementioned barfing). No sign of stomach flu, no food poisoning...all tests came up negative for any usual explanation. Just stress.

So I figured coming back here on FA and looking around for some arts might be a good way to relieve some stress. And indeed it is ^^.

At least there's only a week left before break! And iced coffee from McDonald's is delicious...yesss.

Just thought I'd share to show off what I've been up to in my absence of drawing to anyone interested...this and a bunch of other stuff too including a MASSIVE viz fx project. So its not as exciting as the fat furs, but I like it.

I want an internship :

Well, this is some news that has made me very upset. I have heard rumors of it, but today's article in the LA Times has confirmed plans that Gov. Schwarzeneggar has plans to close 48 of California's state parks due to the state's budget crisis. Chalk it up to the worsening state of our economy as a nation I suppose.

One of the parks in question is one of my favorite places to visit- Topanga State Park, which happens to be the largest area of park land in an urban region (Los Angeles) in the nation. If any one has been there, they know how beautiful and unique a place it is. If this plan goes through, the park would be closed- allegedly only as long as the budget crisis remained- and no one could legally enter it. Trails and structures would not be maintained. Worse, who knows if it means that the parks might not become opened up for development.

Although the budget crisis is serious, I do view this as being a real tragedy if we allow these rare pockets of wilderness to disappear. I feel sorry for any children I may have some day who won't be able to experience the things that I have. On a grander scale, it's about what we decide is valuable to pass on as inheritance to future generations.

Over the past three years (even since I got a digital camera) I have photographed the wild areas near Los Angeles- particularly the Santa Monica Mountains. I always considered it a sort of documentation should one day those places no longer exist. I now view this a serious possibility. Sorry for the rant, but this is an issue that is very dear to me- and I am sure to other CA furs as well.

OK, its a been a few weeks. School has been insane, and I have devoted my life it seems almost entirely to Maya.

However, I did manage to peel myself away from work for a very worthy cause- my mate Podge took part in an eating contest with a friend at a local pizza place.

The challenge goes as follows: 2 people have 30 minutes to consume a 28" diameter pizza. The thing is enormous- and covers pretty much the whole table. Only 8 people at the restaurant have successfully completed the challenge- that is, before today.

Podge and his friend tore through the pizza with abandon, and 10 minutes in, it looked like they were going to get done in twenty minutes flat. Of course, as they got fuller and fuller they slowed down. With only a minute to spare, the guys managed to force down the very last of the pizza.

Needless to say, I was a very happy serval. I don't think I've ever seen Podge so full before. His belly was huge! But at least now he can say he's the Pizza Champ and will get to sport a Bellyblaster T-Shirt as a prize (plus $100 in pizza money).

Once I have a moment to spare, I think this would make an excellent illustration.

Sure there were the cute screaming animals, and the Budweiser clydesdale. But this one was my favorite, by far. Although I may be biased because a) I love lizards, (especially the chubby one that gulps down the bug-cute!), and b) one of my aniamtion teachers at my school worked on it, creating alot of the dancing animation in only a week's amount of time (wow!).

I wish it was just the lizards, but it's still a cute commercial!

Oh and by the way, Giants win. Yay!

Since getting my computer back after getting the motherboard replaced, I'm still having weird issues :( Yesterday I had to bring it into Best Buy because I could not start Windows in either normal or safe mode. The problem has been solved, but its likely my ancient HP is not long for this world *tear*

So, if I disappear for awhile that may be why :3 I hope that's not the case!

Woo for 2008!

I'm still around, just getting started with the new school semester. I have several pics to scan in, but due to recent computer failure (a BIOS flash that completely wiped out my motherboard), and a subsequent inability to use my scanner has resulted in me being unable to post any new art for at least the moment. I am working on remedying said situation.

On the other hand, I just went to Dave and Buster's and won a bear with water or something in its belly that makes it squishy. It's called a Charming Chubeez ^^

OK, so I know I slipped off the face of the earth.

There are some reasons:

- Christmas

and, most importantly....


WORLD OF WARCRAFT.


Yes, a friend of mine got me hooked, and well, it's taken up a good chunk of my vacation time. But my troll gets to roll with a pet raptor and listen to everyone else talk about Chuck Norris all day. LFG LFM blah blah blah.

Hooray for thanksgiving, the most wonderful time of the year for all the fat furs to stuff their faces ^^ I, for one, know that my beloved Podge should be enjoying the festivities muchly...and by that, I mean chowing down on thirds and fourths of stuffing and dumplings.

Oh yeah, and Thanksgiving also has something to do with Pilgrims and Indians and all that.


btw, I'm currently working on a larger piece right now (when I have the time) with Podge, involving feeding, but I'll leave it at that for now. It may have a story accompanying it ^^
