Recommend some programming languages to learn; I know hardly any of any, I'm thinking Python or PHP though.
Recommend some TV shows to watch; I've watched all the Stargates, Battlestar Galactica, Tru Calling, Point Pleasant, Andromeda, Buffy and Angel and am watching Heroes and NCIS. The Wire, Dollhouse and Firefly are on my to watch list. My maybe list consists of Xena, Star Trek and Psych.

Fursona
General | Posted 17 years agoLong meme is long, so here's some recent thoughts to even up the columns on my frontpage again.
What does your fursona mean to you?
Is it you in a different body? Is it a seperate character from you, which you just use for an avatar? Is it like you in some ways, but not in others? Is it how you wish you were?
Does it have the same background as you, or did you make up a backstory?
Does it have the same colour eyes as you? Body type? Hair?
Is it your favourite animal? Is it an animal that represents your personality type? Is it neither?
And how do each of these things affect how you behave in regards to your fursona, how do they affect how you draw your fursona, how you write your fursona, how you feel comfortable with other people drawing or writing your fursona? Do you draw or write your fursona at all?
Here are my answers:
My fursona is how I would be if I were a wolf. She's me. She's so much me that it feels strange referring to her as "she" and not "I". She has the exact same past as me, the same colour eyes, the same body type, the same long hair in anthro form (though not in quad, obviously). I chose the red wolf because it matched my personality.
I could never draw my fursona having sex. I could never write about her having sex. I would only ever do that if I had a significant other who I felt comfortable having sex with, and then I would only show the pictures to him or her. If someone drew or wrote about my fursona having sex, it would feel exactly the same to me as if someone drew or wrote about me, the human me, having sex. Because my fursona is me.
I draw my fursona, but I don't write about her. It would be rather strange, writing a story about yourself.
I know there's a lot of difference in attitude towards fursonas in the fandom, so I thought this would be an interesting topic to write about here. 8)

Nuh uh. No way. Nope. Only drug I've ever taken was aspirin. Only drugs I will ever take are medical. And I'll be on as few of them as I need to get well, too.
[03] Abortion: for or against it?
Neither.
Just because I think women should have the right to choose doesn't mean I'm for abortion. It just means I'm not against it.
[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
Of course not! The fact this question is even being asked in a quiz about controversial stuff is absolutely ridiculous in this day and age. I would say there can't be anyone today who would ever think the world would fail from a female president, except that I know there are people who do. *sigh*
[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
No.
[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
I don't smoke the stuff, so it doesn't really concern me much, but it is rather ridiculous that pot is illegal while tobacco, something much, much more harmful, isn't.
[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
Again, neither. People should have the choice when to have sex, but that doesn't mean I'm for sex. Being for sex would mean I think it's better to have sex. I don't. It's just as good to not have sex. It's the same goodness either way. It's people's individual choice.
[08] Do you believe in God?
I'm agnostic. I don't know if there's a God.
I'd like there to be a Mother Goddess, myself, but just because I'd like it to be true doesn't make it true.
[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
100% YES
[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Why does this question specify Hispanics? Surely if illegal immigrants of one race are wrong, illegal immigrants of a different race are also wrong? I think I'm going to call this question out as racist! This is a racist question!
[10b] Do you think it's wrong that so many PEOPLE are illegally moving to the USA?
Honestly? I've not thought about it much. I'd have to look into it more, research why (in general) they're moving, what's stopping them from moving legally, any problems that may be caused by them moving, etc.
[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
It depends on both the girl and her family. Some children mature faster than others, some slower. With the girl being only 12, other family members would most likely also have much more involvement.
It's definitely a problem that should be decided privately.
[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
YES.
[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
YES.
[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
Yes.
[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
SPANKING IS CHILD ABUSE, PURE AND SIMPLE.
If you hit an adult, the police would be called and you would be arrested.
If you hit an animal the police would be called and you would be arrested.
If you hit an inanimate object that belonged to someone else and it broke, you would be thrown out of the persons house and made to pay.
WHY THE FUCK ARE CHILDREN BEING TREATED WORSE THAN ADULTS, ANIMALS, AND FUCKING INANIMATE OBJECTS?

OK, then. By your logic, someone who's been beaten up and has recovered and is now having a good life proves that beating people up is OK and that you can beat people up too.

Here's a clue for you: CHILDREN ARE HUMAN BEINGS RIGHT NOW TOO.
Everything you do to a child should not be based simply on some nebulous worry about "how they'll turn out." They've turned out some way now. They're human beings now. They should be shown kindness and respect now, simply for the sake of being kind and respectful to another human, a fellow citizen of this planet Earth.
But if that's not enough for you, and you must do things based on "how they'll turn out", here's another clue for you: YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE.
YOU GIVE HITTING AND VIOLENCE, YOUR CHILDREN BECOME VIOLENT ADULTS WHO HIT PEOPLE.
YOU GIVE PEACE, LOVE, KINDNESS AND RESPECT, YOUR CHILDREN BECOME PEACEFUL, LOVING, KIND, RESPECTFUL ADULTS.
That isn't to say everyone who is spanked will become violent. But the majority of them will, even if it's just towards their own kids. If you "turned out alright" (and not all who say that did), then you did so in spite of the hitting, not because of it (and let's call a spade a spade here, spanking is hitting).
You wouldn't hit a friend. You wouldn't hit a stranger. You wouldn't hit a dog. Why would you hit a child, a being who looks up to you, who needs you to look after them and protect them from people who would hit them? If you'd hit them, they're left with nobody. That's terrible and terrifying.
