My computer's been acting wonky for a while now, and it's affecting not only my photoshop but also my tablet and just everything, and I've been trying to work past it, but it aint working

For the art trade I owe, I'll definitely try to do a traditional alternative, plus probably some bonus sketches to make up for both the wait and the inability to do digital art.

Unless my computer just dies, in which case I'm just screwed.

So I tried out the scanner I got, it's so bad that my phone takes better quality images of my sketches than it can. I feel bad, but since I can't get any use out of it, my parents decided they'll try and use it for themselves and then try and get me what my grandparents got me last time. I feel... really bad about that, but if I can't use it, there's... not really anything I can do.

At least I seem to be kind of crawling out of my slump a bit, so hopefully I'll get that last thing I owe done soon.

And for fun and to lighten things up, have a fursona questionnaire thing, except I'm gonna fill it out with Campas in mind, and he's.... I don't consider him a fursona, but-- oh, whatever.
I know I've got my eaglesona, as well as a fuckton of other representations of myself, but I just feel like Campas is associated with me a lot more. Especially here, where I have him in my icon almost constantly.

What made you choose the species of your main fursona?
I absolutely love glow worms, they're my favorite kind of living creature ever. Although I originally didn't make Campas with the intent of him representing me in any way, I do feel that glow worms fit me. They live in a cave, and I often joke around about the fact my anxiety (and other uncontrollable circumstances) keep me indoors in my own little cave. There's a bunch else, but I don't want this to get too long, ee....

Is your fursona just like you, or how you want to be?
Mmm... I have a lot in common with Campas, but I would not say he's just like me. He's definitely not how I would want to be.

Does your fursona have the same personality you have?
Very similar! He's a heckofalot more mellow and lethargic than I am though, and almost impossible to anger. When he's finally angry, he's probably much less explosive too, probably more or less just irritated. He and I definitely have very similar insecurities and problems, though. But for the most part, his shyness and usually kind demeanor matches up with me pretty well. There's more, but yeah.

Does your fursona have the same dislikes and likes as you do?
I feel like Campas is more into certain things than I am, like his sewing and tailoring and stuff. I can't sew very often and I'm still a novice, meanwhile Campas is practically a pro. He actually really likes traveling, as scary as it can be, so that's something we have in common. Oh-- he really likes cuddling, although I'm extremely picky about it since I normally hate physical contact. (literally my only exception is basically my better half, heh) Also, he's some form of asexual, and WOW HEY, SO AM I! Also, sweaters. And probably more.

Does your fursona look like you at all?
UH-- n... not really, considering he's a giant, cartoony, anthropomorphic larva! But, he does have a similar build to me, scrawny with a little bit of pudge on the belly. Longish legs. He's also supposed to have dark circles under his eyes, but they don't really show up too well, hm... Also, he's way shorter than I am. (I'm p short for a guy tho)

Is your fursona the same gender as you, if not why?
Yeah, we're both men. Very soft-spoken and demure men, but men none-the-less.

Do you have more then one main fursona?
Campas isn't my main, my main is usually a bald eagle, although my main 'sona in general is either my fallenself, plantpersonself or just... plain old me.

Do you have a back story for your fursona, if so does it have anything to do with your own history?
Yes, but his backstory does not match up with mine at all.

Is your fursona mated, if so is it to your real life significant other?
I wouldn't say he's "mated" (he's an ace, so mating's not exactly on his agenda, heh) but he does have a big gay thing for my better half's character, Squeaks. They're really cute and cuddly and it's adorable.

If not are they looking for a mate, or are they a swinger so to speak?
Even if he were single, he-- okay, no. That's a lie, he would probably be looking out for a cute moth to try and woo if he was single. Another thing he and I don't share, I was never "looking" but Campas kind of... always was. Or at least hoping. Me, I just didn't care enough. If it happened, it happened... like it did, heh.

Is there something special about your fursona that you think sets them apart from others?
Glow worms don't seem to be very common. <:I

Do you have much art of your main fursona/s?
Aside from the drawings I do of him, I could always use more fanart/giftart. but I have a pretty nice collection building up, and I adore everything I get. qvq

Would you ever consider parting with your main fursona, if so why?
Maybe if I finally didn't relate to him so much! But aside from that, I'd just put him back on OC status, he's one of my favorites, so I'd never actually wanna get rid of him or anything.

If you suit, do you have a suit of your main fursona?
I don't suit, and I don't think a suit for Campas would ever work out, heh. How would I be able to pull the tail off right? Plus, those arms... At the most, I might just do some kind of humanish cosplay, but that's it. I'd rather use a moth character for a suit, which... I do hope to one day achieve! Probably after my eaglesona hat, though.


Have you ever roleplayed with your main fursona, or do you prefer not to?
I have, moreso around when he was first created. He was in a role-play group a friend of mine made before things kind of died down. Over that period of time, I started connecting with him more, and then it just felt too awkward to throw him back in. So, I pulled him out and now if I ever role-play with him, it's just between my gf and I. He lives a very quiet and uneventful life though, so there's not much to rp past their first meeting or something. We usually just end up talking about him and Squeaks more than anything.

Do you consider your main fursona to be a part of you in any way?
Yeah, kinda. He's become a bit of a mascot for me, especially here on FA. In a sense, he also represents the quiet, lonely and gentle part of my personality, and I have vented through him before in doodles. Especially on nights where my insomnia's particularly bad when I'm feeling my most lonely, usually results in a lot of doodles of him snuggling Squeaks, since he's so soft and probably helps him sleep better.

Even though I'm still super sick, I'll experience "peaks" where I feel alright enough to function decently, so I'll probably use those peaks to work on any commissions I get. But as usual, wait times may vary.

I wish I could say I've been laying around mostly, but I don't exactly have a laptop, but I have been sitting back in my chair a good bit when I'm not trying to lay down

Most of what I've been consuming/drinking is ginger ale (with lots and lots of ice), italian ice to try and make up for the lack of plain water (since plain water's been making me want to puke), and the occasional chicken broth and sometimes a bit of crackers. The other night my stomach was well enough for me to eat an actual meal, but then after the fatigue came back, my stomach got sensitive again.

I asked my parents to get me some pedialyte ice pops to help make up for the lack of plain water, even though apparently italian ice and chicken broth are very good substitutes?

Should I sip more chicken broth? Should I start drinking the Theraflu my parents got me at the beginning of my illness but have since neglected in fear it might upset my stomach?

I haven't been this sick in a long time and I just want it over, what do? <:c

first thing I woke up to was a pukefest, and right now I kind of feel like I'm gonna puke again, but

Being miserably ill definitely took its toll on my cheer, but so did a lot of other factors.
But I don't wanna be a big humbug, 'cause there was good among the bad.

I bought my gf and I a bunch of Borderlands 2 DLC to play together, also bought her Psychonauts, which the two of us played side-by-side over mic until I got too ill to play (was worried about all the moving colours triggering motion sickness, I really didn't wanna puke again, and still don't)

and then last night, when my stomach settled a bit, we Boderlandsed, and I kept getting vertigo any time I jumped from any ledge, even small ones qoq
But it was still fun, and we got to laugh together on mic, and it was nice.

And then not too long ago, I got woken up for presents, during which I got a scanner!! since my old one got broken, I'm really happy about that. I hope this one's nice.

In any case, I'm going to go lay back down and hope to god my stomach doesn't decide to regurgitate whatever small amount of whatever it's got in it.

I had a marimo that I absolutely adored, but while I was away at chubbymoth's last, my mom kind of let it dry out, and ever since then it was a downhill struggle to try and make sure it didn't die. Well, it died. And I was sad.

But today, as an early Christmas gift, my brother brought me a new marimo friend. I almost cried. He brought it in with a little ribbon on the bowl and everything, weh

I guess you could call 'em health concerns, though they're not severe, just... extremely annoying and a huge hindrance.

BASICALLY, something's been making my palms itch and form blisters, the itching has been bad enough that I can't stop when I start until I basically scratch and rub the skin raw. This has caused the blisters to burst, and it makes drawing extremely painful/impossible. I can't even leave my palm exposed, otherwise the blisters will sting and burn, so I've been keeping my hand wrapped up in (clean) toilet paper.

One suspicion was that maybe my desk wasn't clean enough or something, and I'd noticed my mouse and keyboard felt particularly gross, so I washed those down thoroughly today. I'm going to try and keep on top of that, and hopefully that does the trick. If it works, we'll probably see progress in about 1-2 weeks, since during my visit with chubbymoth, I felt no itching whatsoever. And I was staying a week, during which my hands managed to heal a LOT.

So yeah, hopefully I'll get some more progress on the last two things I owe either within that timeframe or some time after. I don't like giving you a time when they'll be done on;ly tpo delay it even more, but keepig you guys in the dark would be even wors,e so... [shrug]

I promise I've gotten progress on 'em, though. I finj9ished the lineart on the commission, so once my hand's well enough I should be able to finish it in one sweep and then probably draw abunch of sketches and doodles to make up for the wait.

basically, I really need to get on the ball with commissions, because I have something important to save up for. I need to buy a laptop I can use Maya on. Or maybe even a whole new computer, but either way, I need one that would be good for Maya. (preferably laptop tho, so I can work wherever possible) Plenty of RAM, and all that. And I'm going to assume it won't be cheap.

I've already got 100$ left over from my visit that I plan on saving for it, so that's a good start! ... so long as my parents don't take it from me.

Also, while I was taking the subway on what was supposed to be my last day at chubbymoth's, I was kind of just staring at the dirty smudges and handprints on one of the subway train doors, and I saw some vague shapes I decided to doodle down to make some one-off designs to polish out and then sell as adoptables. I would have kept at least one of them for myself, but I would never use it, sadly. Just aint my thing.

Depending on how that goes, I'll probably do more, maybe even open custom adopts if I get confident enough.

And then later, once Nessa's more free, we'll probably start doing collab commissions.

I'm less than happy about it, but at least I can see my friends and brother again. I enjoy them. Plus, I'll get to see Nessa again in a few months, and I'm lucky we can even see each other. So I am thankful for that, it's just... hard.

Normally I'd write a big gushy recap but I think I'll cool it on those... I'll say this much though, we watched lots of movies one of which included Pacific Rim, which even tho I had already seen it at that point, was a total joy to watch with my better half.

If an artist uses watermarks and you don't like it, just move along and find an artist that doesn't or something. There is literally no point in you commenting with the fact you don't like watermarks. They're a thing for a reason, to protect the artist's drawings. If you can't respect that, then... I really don't know what to say. You're probably part of the problem, 'cause obviously you're not there to support the artist if their method of keeping their art safe bothers you that much?

Also, most artists that do watermark their art for even commissions usually give you the option if requesting a non-watermarked version to send you. It's usually just for you to keep to yourself, but you know, it's a thing... so if it's really that distracting to you aesthetically, there is that. But if they don't offer that, just quietly go find someone else. There is literally no point to throwing a big dumb tantrum about it at them and it kind of makes you look really bad... and quite frankly, it would personally make me very wary of you.

Artists are people. We're neither above nor below everyone else. An artist has a right to protect their art and ask for people to respect them and their wishes just like anyone else, and the lengths some will go kind of goes to show how disrespectful and gross some people are? If it's such an annoying thing to see on art, maybe people should be more respectful. [shrug]

Also I'm getting really tired of people having the whole "well if you don't want this happening, don't do that" mentality too, like... in my honest opinion, you shouldn't even have to ask for someone to be considerate and respectful. It should just be a thing people are. And I would say "I guess that's just the world we live in" but I'm tired of just letting shit slide because it's "accepted"

Because that's not acceptable at all. People should know better.

Okay first of all, I managed to get myself to draw something p quality in my excitement for Pokemon, so I'm gonna try and get on top of the stuff I owe, preferably before I head back up to NY for a week.

Second of all, chubbymoth bought me Pokemon Y (and got me a shitfuckton of Pokemon goodies at the launch party because she spoils me) and I've been trying really hard not to play it constantly because I'm going to need the entertainment on that frickin ride up, but uhm.

Second of all, and slightly related, due to the distress this whole government shutdown thing is causing me (I live in the US and my dad's a government employee who's been laid off for the duration of this fucking bullshit and he's the only person in our family who can make money, which is why we almost got disconnected) I've decided to take a hiatus from most social websites I go on because I keep seeing talk of it and it stresses me the fuck out every time.

SO... since the beginning half of my last huge hiatus went over extremely well and managed to make me feel good enough to actually draw quality art, I'm HOPING that this hiatus will do the same, but no promises. I just gotta take it easy and see how things go...
