Better off Ted
Posted 13 years agoAnyone watch this? So funny. It's like they just wrote a pile of jokes, shook it up, and randomly arranged them and called it a tv show.
The test results were inconclusive. That's usually what people say when things test badly and this is a good example of that.
"You fit so well in that suit it's like you were poured into it."
"And part of me is still hardening."
I feel like my heart has been kicked in the testicles.
I fixed my marrige with mechanical attachments; I can fix THIS.
[parents almost getting caught messing around when kid comes in]
kid: "You guys are acting weird."
adult: "Don't worry. In 10 years you'll look back on this moment and go: 'ooooohhh....'"

Sherlock (BBC)
Posted 13 years agoLet me start by saying I hate the BBC. I'm sure it's just a cultural difference in entertainment but I really can't stand more than 3 minutes of any show.
Except Sherlock. Holy smokes this is creativity. They've translated Doyle, who wrote for his time period, to today's time period and it works fantastically. For the most part.
I watched both seasons in 2 days. The way they replace pipe smoking with nicotine patches was hilarious. The guy who plays both him and Dr. Watson are excellent. And I think they're about as good as Robert Downy Jr. playing him now in the movies. I think I still like the movies a bit better though but only because I'm a sucker for period pieces that play loose with the rules and realism. Hahah.

I listened to Rock & Roll music once.

The Artists That Make Your Movies
Posted 13 years agoIt's always the people behind the scenes that make a movie what it is. Sure, Chris Nolan makes fantastic movies but that's just because he knows the right people to put into making them. He's the organizer. He directs. The people that make great movies GREAT movies are the ones buried in the credits.

Thank Goodness for Journals
Posted 13 years agoY'know?
Yes.
Just the offline sort though.
I've found that if I write it down, it stops bouncing around in my head. Awesome.
Tell me something cool about you, my friend.

Prominence
Posted 13 years agoEarlier I mentioned gators but I should mention something else I've noticed. It's weird when some furry either joins up or gets money or for whatever other reason suddenly is commissioning boatloads of art. One day I'm like, "hey, that's a cool lookin' dragon/fox/otter/octopus he's got a unique design." And then there's more the next day. And every day after that. Like a flood.
Maybe it's just because I've been around, what, almost six years now. I always just linger in the shadows for the most part but it's actually rather neat to see someone suddenly take off like a rocket and get at least temporarily famous when all these good artists are drawing them.
TL;DR I like variety.
Also, did anyone do anything for April Fool's? I'm not like that. I never do anything to other people. But I know you people are creative and mean-spirited enough to. :p

Gators
Posted 13 years agoIs it my imagination or are there more gators around these days? Or at least pictures of them.
Coloring Book
Posted 13 years agoSomething about this is really depressing in an oddly fascinating way. Realistic furries, maybe.

Penny Arcade Reminding me of FA Once Again
Posted 13 years agoThey've mentioned furries a few times. Except this time I think it was unintentional.

Back Problems
Posted 13 years agoI had some lame back pain yesterday. It wasn't serious. Just a background annoyance and distraction.
Could be just having slept wrong the night before.
Or the fact I'm an old drake.
But I'm starting to wonder if it's because of my weightlifting this month.
I've only been doing 25lbs but as I've made mention of many times before, I have real long arms and that means issues with leverage. That combined with about 80 or so curls per day per arm, maybe it's just not so good on my back.
Anyway, after sleeping carefully last night I'm good. And the month's over tomorrow anyway so-- *shrug*.

Strength
Posted 13 years agoMaybe my imagination but it seems my arms are thicker. There doesn't seem to be any more muscularness to them though. So. Probably just imagination. Kinda maybe should have measured or something a month ago.
25lbs. 8-reps about ten sets.
Nothing really interesting to say other than that.

Year of the Dragon
Posted 13 years agoFrom a research paper.
Why do seemingly irrational superstitions persist? This paper analyzes the widely held belief among Asians that children born in the Year of the Dragon are superior. It uses pooled cross section data from the U.S. Current Population Survey to show that Asian immigrants to the United States born in the 1976 year of the Dragon are more educated than comparable immigrants from non-Dragon years. In contrast, no such educational effect is noticeable for Dragon-year children in the general U.S. population. This paper also provides evidence that Asian mothers of Dragon year babies are more educated, richer, and slightly older than Asian mothers of non-Dragon year children. This suggests that belief in the greater superiority of Dragon-year children is self-fulfilling since the demographic characteristics associated with parents who are more able to adjust their birthing strategies to have Dragon children are also correlated with greater investment in their human capital.

Old Friends
Posted 13 years agoYou ever do something for your own good for your future self? Or gotten annoyed that your past self made a decision for yourself later?
A long time ago, I had a close friend online. He was probably my best friend at the time. He started being kind of annoying so I didn't sign in for a week just to give myself a break so I wouldn't say anything dumb. All was well and good for the next week. Back to being awesome friends. Good decision, just letting everything blow over.
Then suddenly, without provocation, I'm assaulted by a slew of emails describing how much he dislikes me. He'd changed, somewhere along the lines. I'd known him for a long time. But now, he hates my guts. So with the greatest of pain, I deleted him from my address book. I'd tried to resolve things. It wasn't going to happen. I deleted every place I had a contact for him. I have no way of messaging him now. Sometimes I wish I did. And that's when I should thank my past self for preventing that. But I don't.
If he ever changes again, well, I'm sure he has my email. I'd think I also still show up on his msn when I log in and out every day. I hope he messages me someday. I miss my friend.
I miss him a lot.

What about you guys? Not like, the classical sense of a character like orks or gnomes but a pseudo-supernatural legend.

Dead Weight
Posted 13 years agoSo instead of running this month I'm lifting weights. Nothing much, just arm curls while watching Arrested Development. It's been a week and I've moved up from 20lbs to 25lbs.
I feel like a wuss.
