Hotel California
General | Posted 14 years agoThis song plays on the radio at work over and over. So I finally looked up the lyrics so I could read it while it was playing and understand what was being said.
Holy fuuuuuuck this song is creepy as hell.

Total Recal Commentary
General | Posted 14 years agoY'know what I'm tired of?
General | Posted 14 years agoI'm tired of being the guy that never does anything fun.
I'm the one that's uptight, square, and boring. People tell me exactly that all the time. And it's completely true. I don't get mad at people for saying that; because it's true. I get mad at myself.
Because it's true.
What am I gonna do about it?
...Screw you guys, I'm going home.

Cold Prevention
General | Posted 14 years agoStuff everyone should know
http://lifehacker.com/5858209/the-n.....he-common-cold
Being a dragon, I rarely get sick. But when I do, it's really really terrible.
1. Get Sufficient Sleep
2. Wash Your Hands Often
3. Don't Smoke or Drink
4. Work Out
5. Eat Chicken Soup
6. Vitamin D
7. Get a Massage
Someone get in here and give an old drake a massage right now, dammit.

Dating
General | Posted 14 years agoTaken from Wired magazine. I have two comments:
1.) I guess in a way this was intuitively understood, but seeing it printed out in cold mathematical terms is really depressing.
2.) Holy FUCK people have a lot of sex.
[WIRED]
There’s a probabilistic approach to finding the love of your life, and it even has a name: satisficing, a combination of satisfy and suffice. OK, technically, satisficing refers to getting a good enough outcome when you’re lacking complete information about your options. But isn’t dating like that? According to Peter Todd, professor of informatics and cognitive science at Indiana University, the question always comes down to this: “Do you keep searching and hope something better will come along, or do you stop searching when you find something that looks pretty good?”
In the face of this conundrum, the best strategy for picking a mate is to date enough people to establish some baseline standards, then settle down with the next person you meet who exceeds the bar. According to Todd, you should have a baseline after dating roughly 12 people. He’s dubbed this theory the Twelve-Bonk Rule, and it can also be applied to picking the right employee or choosing a home. So, if you’ve dated fewer than 12 people, you should feel free to keep looking. If you’ve had 30 relationships, odds are you’re being too picky. Quit obsessing over your new paramour’s dorky laugh.

Hey Everyone!
General | Posted 14 years agoJust going to make myself post this here.
I like all of you. Like, lots. I'm too cowardly introverted to post or message you like your normal circle of friends do. But seriously, I enjoy reading journals and being acquaintances / friends.
So I'll just be sitting here quietly as usual.
[ EDIT: Not being passive aggressive in the least. You guys are all awesome. 'cept for you, Eleph. You're a jackass. :p ]

(that's a metaphor, fyi.)
I've had a mild version of this for the past three years.
A friend of mine has an extremely severe version.
. . . It really sucks. I hope no one has to deal with this long-term.

Quiet People
General | Posted 14 years agoNo Subject
General | Posted 14 years agoLet me first say, I'm not asking for anyone to message me. Nor am I asking for pity, attention, or anything. In fact, don't even comment below. I'm forcing myself to post this against my better judgment.
Lately I've been unusually withdrawn and introverted. Even for me.
I want to be the talkative outgoing one that people like to approach. While that would mean a lot to me, I just feel that it's not worth it to the other person. The few times that I do scrounge up the courage to attempt to start a conversation, it always tapers off to nothing within a few minutes. Now, of course I've had some great interactions with my friends in the past. But it just seems that those are few and far between.
It's not because I'm lazy. It's because I'm out of touch and can't relate with very many people. We can talk about your day and your activities but I have nothing to say on my end to compliment that. So it becomes a one-sided conversation and then dies.
My general rule of thumb now then is that I don't start conversations. It just seems to work better that way. I'll be on messenger but I'm also going to be pretty much silent and sitting in the corner. I've embarrassed myself enough. I've wasted enough of other people's time.

Ask me Anything
General | Posted 14 years agoPast week or so I keep coming up with things to write a journal about.
Today I figured I'd decide based on what people ask me about.
So ask me anything below and I'll get you a reply. If I think it's too embarrassing or personal I'll reply by note but you WILL receive a response.
And don't worry if you're showing up here late. There's no expiration date.

Finally watched How to Train your Dragon
General | Posted 14 years agoFirst time I've actually watched a dragon movie, believe it or not. And holy cow, Toothless acts just like me. o_O
Obviously it's a kids movie but they seriously included stuff for adults in there too. I mean, what kid's movie *spoiler* amputates the main character's foot at the end?
. . . And when they had the scene at the end with him walking off with Toothless, one missing a fin and one missing a foot. . . ok yeah I cried a little.
So yeah, it had the basic generic storyline (outcast with secret gains acceptance until secret discovered; has to regain trust in time to prevent catastrophe.) but there were a few subtle bits like the above scene in there that really improved it.

Missing Classes
General | Posted 14 years agoJust sitting here, thinking over past college classes I've taken. Suddenly remembered one semester a while ago that was awful. Half way through I forgot about this one class I was taking and missed class for about eight weeks straight and by the time I remembered it (horrible sinking feeling in my gut) my schedule had changed so I was unable to get to class even if I wanted to.
Wow that really doesn't sound like me to be so forgetful.
No like, it REALLY doesn't sound like ME.
Did I dream this?
Holy SHICK that was just a dream I had last year that didn't really happen.
. . . Fuck you, brain and memories.

Badge Get
General | Posted 14 years agoFrom
chromey at http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2683421/
I'll be doing badges like these in between classes at school http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6414919 and http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6419308
They are $10, BUT if you pimp this journal, I'll laminate and send them to you for no additional cost (within the US, I might still ask for a couple bucks if you are elsewhere) Just post the link to where you pimped me out if you want to and send me info!
Unlimited slots for now until I feel there's too many (if there is that much interest :p)
These are some seriously cool looking badges. :)

THANKS, OLLIE
General | Posted 14 years agoSo
elephantine asks if I ever have dreams.
LOL, NOPE.
But then I do, that night. GEE THANKS.
You made me dream about having a credit-card bill of $6,000 that I had to pay.
And then I was shot with 29 tranq darts. How do I know? Because I vividly dreamed in detail about extracting the long, long needles from my legs, arm, and side and counting each and every one. In my sleep. Up to 29.
Fuck you, Ollie.
I'm going to shoot you with elephant tranquilizers.
In the butt.

General | Posted 14 years agoListening to Music

College Classes
General | Posted 14 years agoTo all my friends starting classes today, (Monday) I wish you all the best of luck. Study hard and make new friends! Unless you're a dragon like me. In which case, study twice as hard and stay coiled up in your dorm with the lights out.
Yeah, the first week is always a throw-away week with no real work. But don't fall in to the trap of being complacent! Midterms come faster than you think.
Anyways, report to a dragon here. C'mon. Comment below and tell me how it went. I still miss school (sometimes). :p

Haven't done one of these in a while.
So have at me. Ask anything. I'll give you an answer.
Personal questions or try and stump me with trivia.
