So, I had concerns over my workplace having cashflow issues thanks to some big expenditures and then having to pull teeth to get more inventory on top of an exceptionally slow summer.

Well, seems my concerns weren't unfounded.

I'm being temporarily reduced to part time hours.

This has its upsides: I'll be able to focus more on the comic and other art projects. I'll be more available to take commissions (hint, hint).

I've been in a similar situation before. When I first worked for this company I was making less working part time and I still managed to come out ahead. Now I'm making more so I wont be as hurting as much. Still going to have to be more careful in what I buy.

So my pen for my old ass XP PEN died today and it wont even charge when plugged in. It was a long time coming, but I finally need to upgrade to a new tablet. So, a bit of a delay in art... you know, more than usual.

So I had to step away from my job.
It became to intense and my body gave up and said "Bitch, no more."
10 hour days of constant physical GO GO GO in hot/humid environments took it's tole.
I've been unemployed since the beginning of November and so I recently reached out to my boss at the job I had previously.
We had a meeting today and worst case scenario I won't be able to go back to work for him until spring (February/March) I might be able to come back for some work a few days a week if they can start sending out full trucks again (The job I left filled propane tanks for them, but they're so backed up that they can't get to the small outfit that much.) or I might be back a bit sooner to help prepare the old warehouse to open back up.

So, for the next few months I have to rely on savings and on commissions/Patreon. I don't really earn much of anything from Patreon at the moment and I may have to do a price hike on comms. I'm debating that one a lot. None the less, I'm going to try to get back in to doing art streams during the week.

In the meantime, if you can't get a comm then maybe share my info with folks who might be interested? It'd mean a lot.

Today has been a ride of emotions. Sadness, outrage, anxiety.

I never met Dragoneer. I maybe interacted with him once or twice at most. However, through FA I met lots of wonderful people. This place he created has meant a lot to me and I hope his legacy endures and this continues to be an open place for budding artists and fans of those artists alike.

I have words, but I don't know how to put them together right now. I'm taking the news surprisingly hard. I've shed tears for someone I never met but who's presence affected my life for the better.

So, I do what I can. I raise a drink in Dragoneer's memory and offer my sincere condolences to his family.

So, long story short, my job leaves me pretty physically and mentally drained (working hard in the heat will do that). So I'm not having the time I'd like to be able to get comic pages done. So, I'm going to have to slow down to publishing every other week.

I'm going to be changing over to the processing facility we partnered with next Tuesday. So no loss of employment and I'm switching to full time.

So, I'm going to have an added expense coming in to my life next month (rent) and I need to up my income and I figure a good way to do that is YCH auctions. I will switch up what kinds I do as I go. There will be just random pairings, some might be a single slot with my OCs, some might be for both slots, etc. I'm probably going to start most of them around the 75$ mark (I need to at least make the base amount worth it. Really I should start higher, but I want to see how interest goes.). They'll probably run for a week each and I'll do several a month. Maybe weekly. We'll see how that goes.

So I was browsing through my stats page and wondering what I'm missing for growth and realized I began the comic over a year ago. Well, more than that.
I first posted the first pages in December of 2020, but I didn't really find my stride until September of 2021, about 6-7 pages in to the first arc.
I forced myself to push hard to get those first couple of pages done and I burned myself out quickly. I don't like forcing myself to work and had to figure out a system that let me be productive while avoiding burnout. I think my last job created that tendency in me to burn out easily as it was such a high-stress environment.
Now, nearly a year in to my REAL run on the comic, not only have I found a good system that lets me be productive, but last month I was able to bounce between the comic and several commissions, one of them very big, indeed. I've gotten faster as an artist which is great, because I always thought of myself as being particularly slow. I still don't produce the quantity that other artists do, and the MIGHT be a reason my growth in numbers has been so slow.
Even though I started the comic in December of 2020, I don't really consider that the comic's real birthday. More like a false-start. I think its more important to mark milestones in terms of chapter completion as that, to me, is more significant. It means I completed something as monumental as telling a story in a visual medium. Completing Chapter 1 felt really good and really helped me gain confidence in this whole thing.

Thinking about where I'm currently at in the comic, I could have ended Chapter 2 on the current patreon page. And maybe I should as the current narrative beat is ending and moving on to the next.
I suppose the next thing I should do is just... produce more art. I really don't know how to do this whole promotion thing to bring in new followers and patrons. I haven't turned a profit on that site yet and I'd really like to start earning a living this way. I just don't know how. Wish I had someone who could handle that. >.>

Anyway, that's just a bit of late night rambling.

I went to bed early with the intent of sleeping all night and getting back on streaming today, but nope.
So, I'm just going to sit at my PC and maybe play FFXIV all day.

So, I just got word that my mom and step-father got covid.
My stepfather is needle phobic and unvaxinated
My mother got vaxinated, but caught Covid right before she was going to go in for the booster.
My mother is on the mend, but my step father is going to be taken to the hospital to get an infusion thats supposed to help fight the virus.

Heyo, just wanted to let folks know that the current page of the comic for patreon will be up in the next couple of days and the previous one will be up here for public release later today.
I bought myself a much needed upgrade for my PC (new everything and a new 2K monitor) and I need to get the artwork off the old HDD. I put the old drive in a few minutes ago, so I just need to get the files transferred, format the old HDD, then move the files back.
Also, this new PC has crazy good wifi so I might get back in to streaming and can provide some decent quality streaming, finally. :)

I've been on something of an art roll lately and it feels weird to stop and not be drawing or working on *something*. I started with a system of "do something every day for the comic, even if its very little, at least it's something" and that has worked wonderfully to develop the habit of arting on the reg. But the consequence is that I've begun to feel little twinges of discomfort in my wrist. I try to take a couple days off from art to give myself a sort of "weekend" but I've been compelled through this weird feeling to keep working, even on my days off XD

So, thusly, I describe today as
Me: Hmm... I think I'll doodle some hairstyle ideas for my characters during guild night, since we're just watching anime (I've finally seen My Hero Academia, yall).
My wrist: Stop it, asshole! You said you'd give me a day off!

Its like my last job, I wrote so much that I had to start wearing a wrist brace. I still have it so if it gets bad I've got something to help.

So, I've been working on the next page of A Typical Adventuring Day (I'm almost done. I just have two panels left to color) and this is where I introduce a multi-service tavern that caters to adventurers. I've used it as an excuse to whole-cloth make up characters as well as slip in other characters sitting on my roster or were just one-off doodle characters. And maaaan do I have a type. My characters, the females especially, seem to fall in to one of two archetypes: Big buff ladies, or short haired tomboys. The guys don't have much variation, either, being mostly muscly pretty boys.

Seriously, the sheer number of pixie cuts is unreasonable XD

I was already planning on changing up some outfits of the principal cast after this chapter (Zagreus' armor, while based on a real suit of armor, is a bit on the complicated side. And I think Lysia needs to actually have some armor for adventuring rather her casual outfit) I think I'm going to take a bit of time to doodle out some slight redesigns too (Lysia, Kali and Methos have waaaay too similar of hairstyles. Kali and Lysia especially).

My other excuse for the mass of cameos is to see if anybody responds to the background characters and ask for more.
