2021: A Look Forward (Please Read!)
Posted 4 years agoHey, everyone. Wow, it has been years since I last wrote a journal. I will admit I am not much into the department on keeping up to date in this department, but as we are nearing the end of what was an unarguably crazy year, I felt like I want to write in one for the occasion.
I haven’t been as active here as I used to be, and while I could easily write it off as laziness, much of life has been keeping me occupied as I have been shifting my focus from digital art into other fields. Especially in the voiceover business. This year I have been quite active in that department, and it feels like the time has come to push the envelope in the coming year.
But I don’t want to keep anybody here in the dark on it, either. I have been increasingly active on my social media under a new name so I can share my creations and what-goings-on with everyone. And yes, it will include some of my digital art, for I haven’t abandoned that hobby. I just won’t put too much a focus on commissions for art, because let’s face it, I don’t get enough of those as it is.
Anyway, please be sure to follow me in the following:
Twitter:NeilPVoiceover (Especially follow me here for updates on every goings on with YouTube, Twitch and other happenings)
Instagram: NeilP_Voiceover
YouTube: NeilP Voiceover
Twitch: NeilP_Voiceover (Planned game streaming coming soon. Starting small, but if people are enjoying the streams I will plan on building up on it.)
As I am marching on into the next year with high hopes to expand my horizons, I hope you all will still be there on the journey. I will try to post some content here and there in this site, but really, you are missing out on much more if you are not following along. Your support will be greatly appreciated. Now let’s move on into 2021. Onward to awesomeness!

Nerding Out About: Best of 2015's Intros/Outros
Posted 9 years ago2015 has been an awesome year for me. I have been working hard for the online podcast Nerding Out About as an all-around contributor, from sketches and intros/outros to sitting in for some select episodes. Having some creative freedom for part of the project allows for some fun to be had.
Now on YouTube, I compiled the best of my favorite intro and outro bits of 2015. Follow the link to watch on my YT channel:

Arbok_X: Now on Behind the Voice Actors + Update
Posted 10 years agoHeyahey, guys!
Now, if the year has not already been a noticeable trend, I haven't and forthwith may not be drawing stuff all that much. That is because I have finally made my efforts to put my voice over career front and center. Not only has my involvement with the weekly podcast, Nerding Out About, kept me behind the mic more often, I have now joined a new community that will help me focus and develop my craft.
I am now on behindthevoiceactors.com. For those unfamiliar, it is not only a place that archives voice actors, shows and characters with audio clips for referencing (like IMDB, but for voice actors), but it is also a casting call for talent to jump in for posted projects in need of talent. Last weekend I joined and immediately got to work putting out submissions. It hasn't been a week and I already got a cast for one project, and hopefully it will just be the beginning.
You can check out my profile here:
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com.....embers/ArbokX/
This page has the audition clips I submitted for various projects. You can even listen to some of the clips available to the public:
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com.....all/auditions/
I am going to do my best to put out some artwork here and there. In fact, I got a Christmas Card coming up for this year. Can't break from that tradition...
Also, when completed projects become available online, I will link them in a journal or submission so you can see (and hear) what I have been up to.
So that's about it. Hope you all have a great holiday season and will be looking forward to a great 2016 as much as I am! :)

Gallery Folders Now Active!
Posted 10 years agoHaving been around for several years, it can be hard to skim through an entire 600+ gallery when you are looking for some stuff in particular. Now the ship has finally come in!
I just finished the two-day process of cleaning out and organizing my gallery. Now most of my work is arranged in different folder categories!
Now I make it easier for you to browse through the kind of stuff I work on, from pictures of Pokémon, MLP, my OCs to random stuff, avatars and the continuing series of the Nostalgia Croc. There's even a dedicated section to my Voice Over/Acting material if anybody cares to listen. Turns out there's some stuff buried deep in the gallery I forgot about. Might as well let them get some air this way.
If you got some time, take a spool through the folders and see what you may have missed!

Check out Our Podcast: Nerding Out About!
Posted 10 years agoSo 2015 hasn't been rather fruitful on my end of the art gallery world. Once in a while, I might be able to dish out a little something while some of you (the I'm sure very, VERY little of you) might be wondering just what the Sam Hell is going on?!
Well, the short answer is that I have been busy with something big. The long answer?...
Partnering up with a few local friends, I am now part of an online podcast called Nerding Out About!
www.nerdingoutabout.com
In our program, we scour the broad expanse of geeky fandom... in other words, we gather together and geek about about our favorite films and TV shows, plus anything that make us proud of being nerds. It basically feels like being in the conversation with open commentary about what we like and dislike, pouring deeper into behind-the-scenes secrets of movies and television while also expanding on other subjects, including interviews with actors, producers and other members of the media out there making the stuff you love!
I am hired in as "The Voice" of the program. That means I provide some of the vocal tidbits in the program, mostly involving the intros and outros that help set up what you will be listening to and carry us off to the closing of each episode. I sit in for a full episode every once in a while, the first one being a rather recent episode on Jurassic Park and Wild Wild West earlier this week.
I am most certainly enjoying what I am doing now, since this does help boost my focus on what I want to do with my life. This doesn't mean that I will abandon my FA entirely... not at least yet. I want to keep this hobby alive in my veins while I have a passion and an audience. I will say, however, that my updates will be sparse and not-as-frequent as I used to post, so do understand that I must put my focus on what I have to do for my podcast. But why not show some support for me and my podcast pals, Billy and Hutch among other guests, by listening in!
While I am making sure I let you know I am not dead yet, what I would like is to ask you to check out our podcast! Nerding Out About episodes are available for download now on iTunes and Stitcher. There's a lot to listen to. I personally start popping in at the From Dusk Till Dawn episode with a full appearance in the Jurassic Park episode. You can also check us out online in the following...
Website: www.nerdingoutabout.com
Facebook: www.facebook.com/nerdingoutabout
Twitter: www.twitter.com/nerdingoutabout
Give a listen to some episodes, leave us some reviews, get in touch with us on our website and let us know what you think! Help us grow our podcast so we can all join hand in hand and create a big, warm family of nerddom!
But wait! There's more! Because this website allows for audio uploads, I might be able to tap into the ol' pipes to provide a new variety of material for you all! I guess I have been inspired to do so after listening to
laphin's awesome Voice Over material. Give his gallery a listen. He just.... he just rocks, okay? Some ideas are pouring in over what I might do, including giving you a listen into the world of Jolt and Jaul, or even my favorite spinoff character, The Nostalgia Croc! Hell, if you got ideas on what you want to hear, let me know!

My 30th Birthday (Oct. 22nd) + Revelations
Posted 11 years agoSo on the 22nd this month, I will be turning the big 3-0. You know, just in case anybody cares to know.
And while I reflect on the past 30 years of life, this makes me think about what will come in the near future. Mostly involving my artwork. While I am thankful I am not a huge name for drawing things, a moderate attention on the net was something I was happy to have been engaged in in the ten years I have been showing off my skills. But nowadays I feel like I am slipping. Art blocks, failed sketches and even worse, one failure of special commission series after another make me realize that I can't make a living over what I am doing behind a sketchbook and computer tablet. If my most recent avatar series has gained little to nothing in the one month it has been up, I am trying too hard for my own good.
I love keeping my drawing skills as a hobby while earning a little on the side, but to put my 100% dedication over it seems to be too much for so little I can make. That is why I am letting everyone know that I will be slow putting up some material on my art sites from this point on. I want to thank the many folks out there who supported me over the years and for the continued support, even if I won't be as active as I used to be. I may have commission projects popping up here and there while being available for commissions as they come along, but at least the good thing is that I don't get very much anyway to keep me tied up from anything else. I aim to keep a hobby alive somehow...
But much of my focus has to be put on my real life goal of voice acting, which I talk about so often, yet never, ever put enough time to work on since my realization of doing so back in 2011. That is how much I suuuuuuuuuuuuck! I have been told many times by friends and family that is the kind of thing I should be doing besides where I sit right now, and for my sake of sanity and good fortune, it is what I must do. I already invested in some of the equipment I need with more to come, and Lord knows I don't want it all to go to waste. I aim to make my next 30 years and beyond something I want to feel proud of myself in doing, something that my skills within could power and make a living out of. Perhaps I will try to share with you what I am up to in that field, but for now I have yet to even make a demo. Time will tell on that.
So if anybody is in need of some voice talent for a certain project, do keep me posted. I can use some experience to help me get my motivation going, even if the project is non-paid.
Again, will be slow on artwork from hereon in, must put my time and effort in my VO work and business model, and many, many thanks to those who have given me so much support in the internet world in the past decade and to those who will continue to support me, whether I am putting up as little artwork as I can upload or being behind me in my path to a new, possibly prosperous future.
....Oh, and happy friggin' birthday to me. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

Megaplex 2014: Do The Flop Music Video on YouTube!
Posted 11 years agoFor those who helped Java Meerkat and myself with our little music video during Megaplex 2014, the video is now live!
Book of Mormon Fursuit Music Video CANCELED!
Posted 11 years agoIt pains me to say, but as quickly as I have announced my plans for a fursuit version of the "Hello!" music video from the Book of Mormon, I have to cancel the plans for the project.
It's mainly about the precaution over what could happen if the Marriott chain caught wind of the production or the final video and wouldn't have a sense of humor to allow us to record the video at their hotel. I had a cautionary wake-up call over the fact that it could lead to some bigger problems, including having the Marriott chain blacklist the convention altogether. I don't know about you, but I am not for becoming the fandom's next most hated person if that should happen.
Perhaps if it was to be a parody song so we could make the "Book of FURRIES" music video, then I would have gone ahead with the idea, but this is too short a time from now until the convention to carry it out since I would need more time to make a parody version of the song from scratch and so on.
A big thanks for those who said they would be a part of my project, but for now, it has to be canned. Quite ironic that the one idea I have that had the biggest turn-up in such a short time has to be canned as a precautionary measure. Maybe the parody version will be built up from this in the future if I took the time to think it over.
Thanks again and I'll see you at Megaplex 2014!

Family, Pokémon X, Birthdays and other happenings...
Posted 12 years agoI don't usually write journals about things going on in my personal life, but today I have just been hit by some devastating news that I have to vent it out...
My grandfather, a man who I have looked up to, has passed away last night after his battle with a second stroke in the hospital back at my home state. He was a nice guy, wouldn't let his age stop him from being a youthful spirit and a witty man. At an age in his early 80s, he could still manage to be an enjoyable fellow to be around for anyone. I enjoyed his company, and I will miss him dearly as I am coping with the reality that his recent years of issues have come down to this day. I will miss him, as will the rest of my family and friends who knew him.
This photo best shows how awesome this guy was. This was during the annual Outer Banks beach trip with my family. Let this picture set the tone on how cool he was and how much he will be missed.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....psfa6e6e20.jpg
I will miss you, Buddy (his nickname). May you find peace in heaven...
On a lighter note, I got my hands on Pokémon X at the midnight launch, no big surprise to anybody. Anybody who I haven't got on my 3DS friend list yet, let me know. I am showing some interest in dedicating more time in some hardcore battling in the competitive spree, so I would love to spend more time battling with my friends and foes. Want to actually make the most out of this Pokémon experience with this generation's game.
Call that an early birthday present to myself, because my birthday is now 9 days away (which makes it October 22nd). Another year older and another year the wiser. Weeeeeeeeeee.
In the art department, I wrapped up the Pokéwalker avis for the year. I didn't get enough avis to post Set 2, so I will just let that sit on the sidelines. If Felldoh and Annie would like to post theirs on my behalf in their own galleries, you have my permission as long as you give credit.
I don't have a lot of art pieces lined up to work on. Been taking the time to relax and take a break, I suppose. I do have a lineart I should finish since I will be home all day today. Though I should have some pics between now and when I will be bringing back another drawing spree series in honor of a certain show's new season kicking off this fall...... stay tuned!
And that's all I got for now. Stay safe, everyone, and have a good weekend.

Go check out this new show, Relatively Super!
Posted 12 years agoThis is a little plug for a few friends of mine who are working on something big. Reeeeeeeeally big. Like, a-brand-new-television-show-about-superheroes kind of big with some of the hottest names in voice acting all coming together!
It's called RELATIVELY SUPER!
Created by my good friend Sonny Dyon, this is a brand new TV show in the development phase as it is getting off the ground at this current time. This show is signing in some of the familiar faces and voices to the cast of awesome people, like Michael Dorn (Worf from Star Trek), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynomite), Kevin Conroy AND Mark Hammel (Frigging Batman and The Joker respectively from the Batman animated series AND the Arkham game series! Holy CRAP!) among many others! With a cast list like that, who could say no to something like this?!... Oh, and Mark Hammel... was also Luke Skywalker. 'Nuff... said...
The show will also feature Score Composer and Grammy-nominated Producer Paulo Bethencourt.
The characters for the show were co-created by DC Comics illustrator George Pérez.
Sonny Dyon himself will take the helm of writing, producing, directing and even playing the part of Mayor in the story. He's a guy who isn't afraid to throw himself into the action full force, and I am cheering him on all the way!
There's a lot I could say for the show, but it's best you watch THEM and see what's in store! I have no personal stake in this, even though I would LOVE to voice act for this sort of thing, but it's better left in the hands of legends and people more awesome than myself. The least I could do is help get the word out about what is sure to be mind-blowing awesomeness for the eyes and ears.
Support can help get more recognition for the show from people like you! I personally would love to see this show take off, and if you want to do the same, all you have to do is follow along and spread the word via the Relatively Super social media pages!

FWA 2013 - A Look Back
Posted 12 years agoAnother year, another Furry Weekend Atlanta post-con wrap-up journal entry to clog up your message boards. Enjoy the read, suckers! :P
But seriously, this year's FWA has been a blast of a time for me, as always, especially with the great events, the people and the fun times had all around. This is even Code Red Dew Roo's first year in suiting up and running around this particular con, and was pretty well received. I heard about how the hotel was pretty high-scale for a con of our type, but my personal experience was pretty positive. I especially like the placement in the middle of Peachtree Plaza of Atlanta, where the high traffic of Atlanta folk warranted for some photo ops and some interesting confrontations. Here's a little run down of the great times...
Friday: This is my first day for the con since I had other plans going on Thursday to even be at the Opening Ceremony. Regardless, I have had fun romping around in suit. I even had my first try in the dance competition audition that day, which was fun but eventually I found out I wouldn't participate in the competition this year. Oh well, that's how things go. Better luck next time.
Much of the day was spent running around as Code Red and interacting with the fur folk. Nothing too special. Although I had my first hand at playing Artemis in the video game room. For those who don't know, think of it like a Star Trek-style spaceship simulator with 6 computers hooked up, each person taking a specific task in navigation, power management, radar and information scanning (which was what I did) and so on all overseen by the Captain who walks around and coordinates the actions to be done. It was fun, and it was a shame I didn't try to jump into the tourney while I was there. Maybe next year...
Saturday: This was the best of the three days for me. Much time was spent running around in the Fursuit Parade, followed by... well, making THIS:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3NMDvKUuNE
(Pssst, look carefully in the top right corner of the screen when the big dance beat drops)
I even tried a hand at the Pokémon Puzzle League Tourney, which I haven't played for years and naturally had my ass handed to me. The St. Patrick's Day Parade was fun to sit through, especially with all the fursuiters outside getting a lot of attention from the crowd and the parade marchers.
I didn't make it to the Dance Competition that night, but it didn't stop me from getting Code Red to show up and watch the show.
But that's not the most interesting thing of the night for me yet!
During one of the songs the dancers danced to while the judges compiled their decisions, one of the dancers of the contest decided to pull me right onto the stage and dance with them! I guess he must have remembered me from the audition and didn't want me to feel left out? I dunno, but for whatever reason, how could I not have my brief moment of fun, huh?
You can see it happen here in this clip: http://www.justin.tv/furryweekend/c/2038232
1) Scroll over to the 22:00 mark and watch for when I am yanked to the stage.
2) You can check out the whole dance competition and other videos recorded in the con at justin.tv/furryweekend
3) If anyone knows who it was who yanked me into the dance ring, help me out here...
I have to say, I wasn't expecting that at all, and I had my fun. To me, that's enough to put a smile on my face that lasts the night.
But if that's not enough, midnight was the Cards Against Humanity Tourney where I made my way to the very end, where the final round consists of custom questions themed on furries, the con and others of the like. That sure put a fun spin on things for the game, and it turned out that I won and got me my free registration for next year's FWA!... best prize one could ask for...
Sunday: Not much for this day. Just running around, being all CR until the closing ceremonies. Whoop-ee!
And that about wraps things up. A big shout out to my meermeer I spent the whole week with,
javameerkat, who I love a lot and miss everyday I am not in Atlanta,
daxterdingo and
puckthezennec for being awesome hang-outers!
princessrei, I hope you enjoy your coconut oolong tea, if you didn't shotgun it all down by now already. :P
Plus all the other folk, Odin, Dingoroo, Mangusu, Summershy, Brejar, ButtercupSaiyan, Fuchsia and anyone else I might have left out, and sorry to mention.
Great con, great times, and I'll be seeing it all happen again next year...
That about wraps up, so I'll shut up now.......

New Tumblr Account!
Posted 12 years agoLooks like I caved in and got a Tumblr account! Anyone who's a friend can follow me at:
arbok-x.tumblr.com
By the time I post this, I have absolutely nothing to contribute there. Mainly because I am figuring out how the site works altogether. Hopefully soon enough I will have some content to share, if anything comes up. I am mainly there so I can watch some of my other friends Tumblring their way through the website. No harm in that, right?
Anyway, nonesense over. Get back to life!

2013: A Look Forward with Arbok_X
Posted 12 years agoHeyahey, guys! Well, the time has come once again to say goodbye to another year and take a look at what will be on our way in 2013. A time to reflect on what our plans will be for the next 365 days, and that's what I am here to talk about, because it does relate to this site, my art hobby as well as other goings on.
I have a major must-do for the new year. I have been in the need to pick up my voice acting development, which has been quite slow (especially in the last year with some GERD and a throat condition that get in the way). It's nice to have an art hobby, but nowadays I have been so tied up with too many projects that keep coming, especially with the Grant "Path in the Light" series that I have to draw up every month. They get in the way with what I have to do, along with work and other goings on leaving little time to focus on my drawing hobby alone.
Speaking of which, I am still looking for someone to take over as the artist for the drawing series commissioned by
demont for his fanfic series. Any artist who's looking for a monthly project that involves My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic-style work along with guarenteed pay, then please read the following journal for more information: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4038687/
I have a priority I must set with my own voice acting projects and auditions, which have been piling up as of late. I will be putting these priorities up at number one, while art-related stuffs will be second. I will try to make time for some artwork here and there, but I may be slower dishing them out. Any happenings with the VO work will be updated in my Journals with links to some awesome stuff I will be involved with, so anyone interested in cartoons, voices and other nonsense, stay tuned.
I do have some commissions I still have to handle and IOUs to settle, but once that's out of the way I will close down all commissions and trades until such time when I have freed myself of some of the much-needed work of my own. I will open up here and there if I got the extra time. And again, I desperately need someone to take over the Grant series! Anyone who can help me out with that, I would be most grateful, and you will be paid. Grant has never held off or cheated in payment. Just read the journal link above for more info.
That's the long and short of my announcement. It's a pretty big deal, and it's what I got to do to make some time with what could be something that would suit me for a future I am eyeing for. Again, I will try to dish out some goods in the gallery when I can. All I ask is for those who would commission me (as little as they are nowadays) for their understanding and for someone to take over my monthly commitment to help me free up my time. It's what I have to do now.
With that, I wish you all a Happy New Year's and the hope for big things to come for everyone in 2013!
Peace, folks!

Artist Needed to take over Grant Series!
Posted 13 years agoHeyahey, guys! For a year, I have been put under the task of making a series of monthly pictures for a visual fanfic series called "Path in the Light", featuring a soul bot, Grant, in the world of My Little Pony: Frienship is Magic. This has been graciously commissioned by Demont of FA, and I have been dedicating much of my time to help him put his words to pictures for his Tumblr fanfic series. Here are some samples, plus his Tumblr page link for more:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8168149/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8783798/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8695502/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7908551/
Tumblr Page: http://rickydemont.tumblr.com/
But lately, I have been slowing down, and I have more projects to work on in more than just artwork. I need someone to take over my place as the soul artist for the Grant picture series. As much as I would like to step down at any time, I don't want to feel responsible to see this image series come to a complete halt because of me if no one is left to keep the series alive and running. Therefore, it is of my interest to help Demont find someone to continue for me.
It will require a one-image-per-month commitment, and he has instant messenger to contact with should you have any questions about any particular image for the month. I almost always see him online, so it wouldn't be too hard to keep in contact whenever needed. He also occasionally needs help making sure that the story text he puts with the image in his page is grammatically correct, so if you don't mind proofreading a few sentences every now and again, that's a plus.
This has been a commissioned series, so Demont will pay for the services you provide. I usually have been giving him the $35 USD price tag for most of my work with some exceptions based on the extra work put to some images. He had no problems paying in full whenever the image is completed for the month, so if interested you are welcome to negotiate with him on prices based on how much you charge.
Help me help Demont keep this Grant series flowing! You want commission money, fellow artist? I am willing to step down from a guaranteed monthly money flow in place for a suitable artist to take over the series!
If you feel like you are up for the task, please contact me so I can send you his contact information so you can ask him questions about Grant and the fanfic series I work for.

My Little Brony Returns! $10 Each. ONE WEEK LEFT!
Posted 13 years agoQuite some time ago, I started a series of commissions with a goal set of 30 characters in the series of My Little Brony Returns! Obviously in the style of the MLP: Friendship is Magic TV show. The results were... sluggish.
At this rate, I am obviously not going to reach the 30 slots I hoped for by this point, so with only one week left in the spree, I am using the time left to do as many as I can.
I am asking once again for those who would like to have their (or any) characters drawn as ponies, unicorns, pegasi, baby dragons or whatever character variety! Want one done? I can do it!
Many examples in the current series can be found just by clicking in my Gallery page. They are not hard to find. :P
Each slot is $10 USD each, and is only payable through PayPal. Anyone who comments below or sends me a message will have their name guaranteed in the list below as long as that name is placed by the November 18th deadline.
Questions? Drop them off right here!
