Updates... and yes, I am Open!

I bet I know why you are reading this journal... there's a nice handful of you who have been patient and been asking me if I am ever going to re-open my commissions, art trades and whatnot that I have been leaving closed in my journal since who-knows-when. It was all necessary in order for me to fully focus on an art portfolio that I have been slaving over for the past two years. TWO YEARS! I can't believe it myself how it has been this long. Procrastination is partially to blame.
...Well, it isn't really finished, but the hardest part of it all is over (having the pages drawn and selected), which means...
All commission and art trade slots are OPEN! After a long run from my own creative mood, it's all open!
So for now, I will be taking names to put on the lists, and I will be contacting everyone one-by-one (or two, who knows). The time has come to bring myself back into gear after a long, sort-of hiatus.
For those who have been wanting to commission or do a trade with me (you know who you are), post a comment here saying you want to do so and I'll put your name on the list.
In other news, things have been rather interesting for me during the last few weeks. Around the time when Super Mario Galaxy 2 came about, my Wii console had a memory fault that caused the system to become inoperative. After a call to Nintendo and $85 to ship the system for repairs... and counting the days for the system to come back.......... literally... I got it back today and I am playing the game at long last! So far, great fun as always! :D
The one hitch is that since the circuit board had to be replaced, all of my game data is erased for every game I ever played... including BRAWL!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!! Time to play everything all over again just to get myself back to where I was. DX
So that'll about do it for my updates for now. I might let you folks know how things go with where I am taking the portfolio to, which should be solidified within the next few weeks. Until then, keep cool, everybody! ;D

MeerkatFamillyFWA 2010: Wrap-Up
Posted 15 years agoWell, another awesome weekend in Atlanta has come and gone. And while I start to finally unpack after another couple days of work, I am posting up all the recent goodies and reminisce on all of the things that happened during the week. And what happened last weekend? One. Good. Time!
This year has been a debut for my Fursuit this time at FWA. He was halfway done last year when I went. I have taken the liberty of romping around with many different suiters this year, and creeping the crap out of Likeshine with those never-blinking eyes again. X3 It never gets old...
I sold some art this weekend, and statistically with numbers, it is the best for a con of this magnitude. The only thing I regret is the fact that I didn't bother taking pictures of all of a recently-made series, a very affordable and fun series: The Random Sharpie Badges. For all my online buddies who never got to see me do them in person, it's simply quick sketches on cut-out paper of someone's character in some silly, random, and often times dangerous situations. Mostly I give them out as free gifts, and peeps like Likeshine, Growly, Glowsheep, Spook the Lemur and Dragoneer were just some of the lucky recipients. During Elliot's and Megaplex this summer, I will be sure to take snapshots of all the Sharpies and post them all in a series of dumps for all the net to see.
I gone to a few panels this year, and what fun they were indeed. I gone to a couple of art panels and a couple of video game tourneys. I came in first on the NEW Super Mario Bros. Wii speed run tourney and won myself a sweater. Sweet!! 8D I fursuited several times, of course, and one Sunday night I got a rare privilage to hang out with FA's famous dragon, Dragoneer, where I met him face-to-face and gave him his Sharpie and a look at a new addition to the Fusion series (coming soon). You might guess what it is by now... All I know is that I am looking forward to seeing it in living color.
This year's FWA has no doubt been real awesome. A big thanks to all of the friends I have made this year and all those I know now. :)

PokeCombatAcademy Species_X_Change MeerkatFamillyChristmas Update + I Cost $3,445 a Night!
Posted 16 years ago...Gah, last November was a killer. I have been working very hard during the last month (nearly), so I hardly have the time to pick up my sketchbook. I am crossing my fingers in hopes that things will quiet down around the work front so I have some me time to enjoy myself. For now, time to finally speak out and say what's been up! :)
Well, the Holidays are finally here! Being in a bit of a penny-pinching mood this year, doesn't look like I will be buying a lot of things this year for the folks, but I am trying to do what I can to make folks happy. At least I finally have a tree up this year, which I had the pad decorated by my soon-to-be roommate, 'cuz he set up the tree and dining table decor at his old apartment. Now if only I had some lights for the exterior... Or not. I'll staple-gun the lights another year. It's too soon to do property damage, Clark Griswold-style. XD
What would I want this year?... strangely, there aren't a lot of ideas coming to mind. I DO need a new air compressor to fill my tires at home, and I KNOW it isn't a toy. I don't care if I won't have enough fun with it like a new video game. Shut up! XP But a licensing for the Paint Tool SAI demo I have on my computer would be super sweet. Lord knows I have been wanting one for quite a while. An iHome dock for my iPhone would also be sweet enough, and sadly that's all I can think of for what I want for Christmas. x_x I am hoping my folks at home are going to surprise me... Wait, are they reading this? >.> <.< Hey, I want my National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation DVD mailed down here, too! Better write that one down! <=)
Drawings-wise, my portfolio still needs some work, but I am getting some more solid ideas worked around it, and while I am picking back up my sketchbook, things may come around. I got a coach to help me solidify the portfolio with good work, I just need a boot camp-class drill instructor to tell me to pick up my sketchbook and stop messing around. XD
I know some of you are still clawing on my legs and asking about commissions and gifts, but I am still working around everything I can... I miss the old days when I didn't have a lot of things keeping me aback. x.x But if I press hard enough, it'll be over. If it happens to be anything that could also benefit my portfolio, then maybe it will help both sides. But for now, you will have to deal with slow... slow updates.

In two weeks, I am going to be turning 25. Call it the Silver Birthday. :D And I got plans, of which I cannot wait for. It's been 5 years since I went to Discovery Cove down nearby Sea World, and in two weeks that's exactly where I am going to spend my birthday. I am so excited!! I had the time of my life, and I'm about to do it again. I'd make myself a tribute picture to the milestone birthday...
But that brings me to something I gotta mention. I am SO behind on the portfolio I have hoped to have done quite a long time ago that I am taking extra steps to eliminate the workload that is slowing me down. Ergo, expect to see much less artwork coming out of me for a long while, not to mention commissions. I hope to make a lot of progress by the end of the year (Hah!), but whatever it takes, its time I should get off the bench and finish what I started.
It's been one heck of a year... but I pulled through another exhausting, busy, and recently heart-heavy year. But I want to thank all of my friends and fans who have been there through the fire and flames. From the fun and fancy free times to some of the rough times... especially the recently lonely events that has left me with no success in what I have been looking for...
Counting down the days, and I know I am going to have a great time. ^_^

Well, the Megaplex 2009 Anthromorphic Convention has come and gone, and I had a blast with this one. This is the second big con for me, but the first to have Trefursuit out on the prowl. I had no table to do commissions at, since they were $40 apiece and I have no hopes to make it all back, so more time to spend at the rest of the con for myself. Here's a small recap of what happened...
Friday
I had Zip and Pyro stay overnight the night before the con after a long drive from Georgia to be here. Friday morning is when we all went together to the Radison where the con was held. The day begins with the Opening Ceremonies, and I started running around in the suit most of the time. Family Feud was pretty fun, even though I brought some disgrace to my team here and there. The Red Team (my team) won the Fursuit games, which included games like passing a wiffle ball with snowcone cones, domino-placing and a race to open the presents and get the Christmas ornaments out to hang on the tree. The ornament game was the most fun. I spent some time with Uncle Kage's story hour, and DJ Herbie helped us wrap up the night nicely... funny to hear "Bake the Cake a Little Bigger" at the time, and what fun to dance to... XD
Saturday
The morning starts with some Saturday morning cartoons, like the Pink Panther, Scooby Doo and Dynomutt... or whatever his name is... XD Then it's Fursuit Parade time! About 65-or some of us walked our way around the hotel and putting on a show for everyone there, followed by a group photo you can see right here. Just guess where I am... :P

Some more fursuiting and photo shoots later, I went to JR's standup and then we went to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show... and I can't believe I fell asleep for the second time in a row! Shame on my dumb ass... God, if only I recorded myself singing "Black Hole Sun" on Rock Band back in the game room. I had a lot of fun on the account that I sung like a complete retard. As long as the pitch was right, it didn't matter what I say. XDDD
Sunday
Our final day was spent at the Kissimmee Fun Spot, and I got to hang out with Rukario and others most of the time. I am amazed I fursuited for an hour in the heat... I had some balls, and some attrations like the Go-Carts and the free soda refills helped me cool down... oh, and the clouds overhead. I attended a panel for Advanced Fursuit Construction to try and get some pointers for Trefursuit, then the Art Jam came in where we just sat down and drew. The Closing Ceremonies wrapped up the convention and we got to hear of next year's theme (It's Mad, Mad Science) and that it will be at the same hotel next year... SCORE!! We didn't officially stop until we played Fursuit Deal or No Deal (which I got to hold a "suitcase" holding a dollar value) and the WTF Theater (which is like their own 1 1/2-hour Who's Line Is It Anyway show, but why should I complain?). Then there's the Dead Dog dance, which I didn't stay long for since I had work the next day. :(
And that's the con in a nutshell. I had a great time and am willing to be there for next year. I am all psyched up already knowing that it will once again be close to home. :)

So yeah, I wish I could take up a table and do some commissions at the con, but all of them are rent tables, and I came too late in even thinking of sharing one with
Onai-wolfwind... So I am just going to do everything else.Besides, the last several art table attempts were complete busts, even when I tried to do the Wii Fight badges... -_- So at the point where there's only tables I have to rent for $40 a pop, why bother?

Posted 16 years agoWell, I have been rather silent during the last several weeks, and I got a good reason to explain to some of you who were curious as to why, so listen up goods, ya hear? :P
After months of hard work of getting the job done, I have officially moved into my own home about half an hour away from my old apartment. These days, house prices have been plumeting to the point that now was a good time to get a house. Sooooo, I did. And this place is very nice. I have spent the months dodging the paperwork to get it to work, and now it is all worth it. The last week was used moving in and settling in.
It was just an hour ago when I finally got the internet connection hooked up at the place, so the house is now wired and ready for me toooooooooo... sit in front of my laptop and be a slave to my own artwork and art sites and YouTube once more... XD Once I am all settled in, the next part will be... finding a suitable roomate for one of the bedrooms... what fun.
This is to assure the peeps I know that I am not dead yet, I just have not been near an internet connection for some time to almost a week. But I am set and ready to get back to work now that things are beginning to calm down... now get outta here! It's time for me to get on YouTube and watch some Ouran High School Host Club...

Well the event was well put together and we all had a blast. Day one on Friday started with an outing at Fun Spot in Kissimmee. I never been there before and I had a pretty good time. The first two rides alone started to make me feel naucious, though... XP The second is just a day at the hotel playing games, dancing and drawing in the artist lounge. The third day Sunday was a day topped off with the trip to Wet N' Wild of Orlando.
Art sales were close to rock bottom, so in the art department I can't call it a success, not even for the Wii Fight badge series (of which I will continue to lash out into the open somehow). I got some work done, and that alone is enough.
What was REALLY successful for me was the Alex Trefur fursuit's premier in a fur event. People loved it and were amazed with how I put it together by myself, and with the experience came with it several tips I could use to make the suit better for next time. For all its worth, I am very happy to have gone, and I thank my friends and fursuiters for their support. I really could not have done it without you all. I even had to toast to sake to the suit itself once I got home tonight. I am that proud. :)
Well, Elliot's is done for the season, but the Megaplex con will be up and coming at the same hotel this summer. I already have my weekend open for that time, I just got to register... not to mention reserve a table... of which I might share... More details on the long run. But for now... *drink drink drink*
Well, this summer's going to have a couple of events happening the fur community, and I plan to be involved in them both. King Elliot is once again hosting one of his parties here in Florida. I plan to be a little more prepared for my art table there, and it looks like I will be sharing a table with onai-wolfwind as well.
And remember that badge I made with Alex and the Wiimotes? Well, I plan to start commissioning this very series of badges there before I would start doing it here. Maybe then I will have some samples to have for when I get more inquirees.
Not only that, but the Trefursuit will make its public premier there. I am so excited and can't wait for that one more week to get here... getting too close... x.x
Also, the Megaplex con is coming up in a couple of months and I am getting set for that one too.
Anybody I know who's going? Shout it out! :D

Aparently I am no longer in a rush to get my portfolio done (which I am incapable of completing in a short period of time), so I got more time to work on some pictures and gems that have been hanging on the back of my mind for a while.
It isn't stopping me from working on my OTHER project that I have bragged about. It is nearing its completion and pretty soon, photographs of the 1.0 Version will be on display for everyone to see. I am psyched about that one.
So this means that commissions and trades will open up again once I near the open space in my to-do list. Stay tuned, peeps, cuz I'm back with a vengence!! ;D

Well, as we all know, all good times must come to an end, and this year's Furry Weekend Atlanta (FWA) event was quite a thrill for me. It was my first big con ever, and I was stoked from beginning to end, I didn't want to leave... XP
-Oh, so many furries! And fursuits! I had a blast with them all and took so many pictures to remember them by. There's the Police Husky that I would be happy to be arrested to *wink wink*, a big busty cat, a squeaky, squeaky puppy and a lion who liked to eat my squeaky tail... yes, I got a squeaky tail. Made it myself in time for the event. :P
-The Artist Den and Alley were great. I saw
Gideon (whom I got a $1 Badge from) and Likeshine (whom I FINALLY got to sign the badge she made from last summer XD) at the Den and peeps like 
el-Koze and so many I can't name at the Alley! I even had a table there, though with so many great artists and my ill-preperation for the event, I didn't think I would make any sales... but I did. A few sales and some trades. I was quite happy enough for that. Thanks to those rare few for your support. ^_^ After an event like this I learned so many things about having an art table and ready to up the antie for next time!
-I took the time for a few other events, like the video game tourneys (of all I was beaten perfusively... x.x), a body language game (2nd place! WOO! 8D), chocolate fondue party and so much other stuffs. I was running all over the place...
-There were some new and familiar faces I met along the way, such as having to meet Zip the Fox for the first time (found him on DA) and
Twile happened to be in my sights. Had a few seconds of face time at the Alley. Good times... I heard there were more... but dang, I couldn't find them anywhere!!
There are other stuffs, but I would bore you talking about it in text. Perhaps more will be better told once I get the new material and swag posted here on FA. Expect some long-overdue updates! :D

-For a period of time, all for-fun drawings, commissions, trades and whatnot will be put to a halt while I work on a couple of priority-one projects that must be done. One is a portfolio to present for a job interview and the other... well, I will post pictures here when it's done. :P

I was up long enough to see the news come to the whole world that Sen. Barak Obama has been elected as the U.S.'s 44th President. This is no doubt a historic mark, and I congradulate him despite the hard struggles it took to get there. I have grown tired of having to see one of McCain's mud-slinging ads on television about every 10 minutes, even while logging onto YouTube to watch some silly crap.
Anyway, congrats, sir Obama! You have gone down in history and I wish you best of luck when you swear into office in 2009!

Cool costumes and lots and lots of candy... mostly free candy.
2. What is the best song that would sum up Halloween for you?
The Town of Halloween from Nightmare Before Christmas. It's the first song that comes to mind.
3. Whats the worse thing to happen to you on Halloween?
Staying at home and helping my parents give out candy... younger kids get to have all the fun...
4. Whats the worse candy that you've ever gotten on a trick or treating raid?
Anything involving gum or would have coconuts in them. Ewwwwww!
5. What movies do you think make up for the best all night spooktacular?
Probably the Saw movies, although I never bothered watching any of them.

Posted 17 years agoWell, another bunch of fur party events are just coming up around the corner, and Arbok_X / Alex Trefur is making efforts to show up during both weekends!
First, we got Elliot's Fall Celebration, Oct. 25th and 26th. I am looking forward to meeting up with some friends there from the last party... Kitosoma, Sci (if he gets the bus money), Tavi and others. Secondly, Nov. 1st and 2nd is occupied by Furloween, featuring the event on the first day and a picnic on the second!
The only snag on my schedule is that on the 26th I will be working until early afternoon, but I just may end up showing up for the second half of the day. Other than that, I should have all the time I need to attend all of the events!

Kitosoma, Sci (if he gets the bus money), Tavi and others. Secondly, Nov. 1st and 2nd is occupied by Furloween, featuring the event on the first day and a picnic on the second!
The only snag on my schedule is that on the 26th I will be working until early afternoon, but I just may end up showing up for the second half of the day. Other than that, I should have all the time I need to attend all of the events!

Well, it's the sign that once again, this meerkat's getting old... literally.
On October 22nd, I am turning 24 years old. Thankfully, I am not going to work on that day, so we got plans! Me and my friends will be going to Universal Theme Parks in Orlando on the 22nd so I can enjoy my birthday in style. The day before we got dinner plans at Ohana's and then on THE day I will finally have a whole day to see for myself all there is too see at Universal! I do hope I get to nail some of the popular attractions I havent been to yet, more or less at ALL. The Simpsons Ride looks fun, Dueling Dragons... there's too many to name off of the top of my head. I may top it off with some Disney World, as I often do, on the next day. Can't overdo your celebration day, right? :P
So there ya have it! Me's gonna grow old, and there's no stopping me, no matter WHAT you do!! >w>

Some of you may have heard that I have been working on a big project during the last three months. Well, the information has finally surfaced and I am previewing my images one full 24 hours before the public display at the Adventurer's Club in Downtown Disney, Orlando, Florida!
Some of you may not know this, but Pleasure Island (the adults-only nightclub section of Downtown Disney that rests right in the middle) will be closing down on Saturday, September 27th after their one final night. The dance clubs and improv comedy clubs will be then shut down in the process, including my favorite place, the Adventurer's Club!! D:
During the months I had ahead of time, I worked on a dedication set of the club's characters combined with Pokémon in a series of trading cards to create... the Pokémon Adventurer's Club! Here's the list of the characters:

Well, I was able to partake in the event of the Adv. Club's final night in the now-closed Pleasure Island of Downtown Disney, Orlando, FL, which took place on September 27th. First thing's first, here's the collection of photos that I got from the characters along with their representing portraits!

Having to get in was no picnic at all. The line getting inside stretched for hours! I got in just around 6:30 when I had to see the sight of this:

The line was hard to bear with, having to get the itch to watch the last moments of my favorite characters inside. The peoples of the Adv. Club thought ahead and installed televisions outside with live feed from inside the Library, where the big shows are hosted inside, and that kept us busy. Some of the most memorable moments happened in that Library:

Not only did we get to see what happened inside the Library, but a few of the characters came out to have some fun with us, keeping us entertained:

FINALLY! I am inside! YAAAAAY!... And dang, was it worth it. The lobby was just cluttered with people all over the place, there isn't really any room to squeeze around anybody. It was really tough to get around:

Oh, and if you are wondering who that random face was in the end, that was Raz the Red Yoshi. :P

Otis actually able to win the Balderdash Cup, Samantha's show with the maids, all the way to their final show, The HOOPLA!! (HOOPLA!!) Which took a whole hour of memorable songs and special recognition to all who have been part of something that has been part of their lives for years... I will never forget them.
There has been rumors that they are to be relocated to another area of Walt Disney World, then again they are going to be claimed by someone else, or else they are gone for good... only time will tell what is true... but for now there will always be the memories...

Horray! After a long, painful wait FA is back up and running! A few changes here and there, but I suppose that'll take some time to getting used to... especially the Submissions section. That one took some time navigating through those buttons.
I worked up a lot of pictures during our downtime, so later on I will get to putting them up once the huge storm of submissions wear down.
...And just as I thought, in the process of the place powered down, somebody missed the 1000 Kiriban... I guess nobody is going to get it! >_>
...That aside, I can announce that I am going to show up at King Elliot's Summer Celebration 2008 fur party right here in Orlando, Florida! It is going to commence the 9th and 10th of August (Only a few days away!!!) and it will include a visit to Wet n' Wild on Sunday. This will be my first fur public debut to events like this, so I really am looking forward to it.
I will show up with purplestarz and rasol during the event, and if anybody else is going... well, I hope to see you there! ;D
