Why am I so weird?
General | Posted 5 years agoBeing a furry in a world full of more socially acceptable "norms" never bothered me much. I wear furry-themed shirts to work and all that. But I never had reason to expect anything to go my way. Then I started looking at the deeper, darker aspects of my sexuality and the history that most likely brought it about. Today I spent a lot of time on self reflection, trying to come up with answers. I know I think too much. Sue me. Anyway, I came to some realizations. They inspired this... whatever you call it.
I can't forget the past, no matter how I try to forgive and forget. I smiles and act like everything's alright. But deep inside, I'm so angry and so mixed-up! Can I ever want the things I should? Will I ever stop wanting what I shouldn't? Will I ever be okay? Will I ever be right again? I know you don't care; that you love me anyway. Shouldn't that make me feel better? I know you're the most important person there is. They say I should be happy by myself. What the hell do they know about happiness?

As long as people (as a whole) love peace more than war, peace will always win. The reason the price is always so steep is because anger makes us blind to logic. If you punch someone in the face, maybe they'll stop shouting at or insulting you, but there's no guarantee he won't blow your head off. And killing somebody might stop them from killing you, but there's no guarantee his family or friends won't be offended and do the same to you. That pattern will only escalate. Power doesn't create evil, but it does draw corrupt people like death draws flies. And respect from fear is an illusion. The only way to end violence is to stop being violent.
None of that is meant to imply that protest isn't useful or necessary. A demonstration of peaceful protest is like a natural vote! If we all speak up with the same message, the majority has to rule. You can't always win with words or flowers when those in power refuse to listen, but riots, vandalism, and looting are childish and accomplish nothing but pain and fear, and to all the wrong people. We can do better.
That's all this old wolf has to say.

Something new
General | Posted 6 years ago"Endings"
We've worked so hard
For this moment of peace
Please don't tell me
That it's ending
These hands
Were never built for taking lives
And what would that solve
Anyway?
If I could
I'd trade
All my innocence away
All my happiness
To put an end to all the endings!
Is it worth all the fighting?
Is it worth all the blood?
Can somebody tell me
What are we achieving?
What can I give you to make it stop?
We've worked so hard
For this moment of peace
Please don't tell me
That it's ending
These hands
Were never built for taking lives
And what would that solve
Anyway?
If I could
I'd trade
All my innocence away
All my happiness
To put an end to all the endings!
Is it worth all the fighting?
Is it worth all the blood?
Can somebody tell me
What are we achieving?
What can I give you to make it stop?
Oonce Upon a Time...
General | Posted 6 years agoDon't you hate it when somebody you know asks you how you are, and just before you start to tell them, you realize they actually don't want to hear it? And even if you just reply with anything that isn't positive, you instantly become the "Debbie Downer". Maybe I should just answer their question with an equally loaded question like, "do these jeans make my butt look big?"
Anyway... rant's over. Here's a little vent work...
"Once Upon a Time"
Once upon a time there was a
Song that didn't skip to the end.
It started off with being alone.
It started off with failures and flaws.
It started out with coming undone.
It started out with rises and falls.
It told you what got broken
It told you what got burned
It told you who got taken down
And told you where they turned
But in this song they found a friend
Who listened all the time
Who wouldn't mock their foolishness
And treat their weakness like a crime
Once upon a time there was a
Friend who didn't leave you in the gutter.

Commissions
General | Posted 13 years agoSeeing as how I'm a little short on dollars lately (who isn't, right?), I thought it wise to announce that I am doing jewelry commissions! I'm leaning towards furry-themed stuff, but I'll be flexible. I work best in gold and silver, but I am fairly proficient in working with brass, nickel, or copper. Send me a note or something if you're interested and we'll talk time and cost. I am open to some trades, but money is required for any materials I don't already have. I promise I'll be reasonable!
