Writing Status
Posted 5 years agoWell, it's been ~6 months since I last uploaded some writings, so I might as well give a quick status update.
One writing project is another Camp Leaning Tree chapter. It's currently ~2200 words, and probably about half finished. However, this projected landed on the back burner for a bit as my muse decided to work a bit on content for the next Occupational Hazards beta. The result was ~8500 words worth of content. The bulk of the new content was additional outcomes when working as a security guard at the Cerebus Cybernetics factory, with a portion being an alternate path for getting your hands on a Cerebus Cybernetics chastity device without having to put any money down. That said, there is a certain amount of redundancy in the content, as some of the scenes have different variants depending user choices or other factors.
I don't know if the content will make it into the next beta release (there are a number of placeholders in the content, waiting for names to be filled in), and I don't know when the next beta release will come out, but it has been prepped for possible inclusion.

Pimping a raffle
Posted 6 years agoOne of the artists that I follow (
AlexAHasegawa) is having a raffle to mark 8k pageviews and nearly 500 watchers (currently 499 - you could be 500). To sign up for an entry, please see his journal announcing the raffle.
In terms of subject matter that can be commissioned, most mainstream BDSM content is fair game at his standard rates. If you plan to enter, good luck!

Camp Leaning Tree epilogue
Posted 6 years agoWell, it took a bit longer than I might have wanted, but part 2 of Camp Leaning Trees was posted a few days after my last journal, but the epilogue took until today to finalize. The final word counts are as follows:
Part 1: 2619
Part 2: 3092
Epilogue: 1300
Total: 7011
I have no idea when the next installment of the story will come out, but a comment by
rubbervixen provided me with a bit of muse fodder for what might become part of the activities a few days into camp.

Posted 6 years agoAKA It's a month and a half too early for #nanowrimo.
AKA When the muse strikes, go along for the ride.
When I finally started putting my thoughts to disk for part 1 of the Camp Leaning Trees, I ended up taking about a week from start to posting. After the story was posted, it received a decent burst of positive feedback, enough to egg my muse into expanding upon the story. Being the quirky individual that I am, I decided to see how much writing I could do in a 30-day window, retroactively starting when I first put bits to disk for part 1.
That interval is over, so a quick word count tally:
Part 1: 2619
Part 2: 3114
Epilogue: 961
Total: 6694
A bit shy of the 10k word count target for nanowrimo, but not bad. One of my other projects is just over 10k words, but that was written over the course of close to a year, with the file going idle for months at a time. It also contains various markup notes that inflate the word count.
Of course, word count isn't everything. 10k words worth of lorem ipsum would hardly make for an exciting read after all. So let's do a quick analysis of the content:
Beginning: It's a start. I suspect I'd need another part (2500-3000 words worth) to finish off the 'first day' encounters.
Middle: Non-existent. This would probably end up being a series of vignettes, each covering part of a day or days.
End: Anti-climactic. More specifically, the Epilogue is incomplete and picks up after the climax of the story has occurred.
Over all, I'd call it a modest success, even if I wasn't intended to see what I could produce in a 30 day timespan when I started writing.
I'll probably have part 2 posted over the next few days, but the Epilogue may take a bit longer, as there's still some chickenscratch notes in it.

I wrote something PG rated?
Posted 6 years agoYes. Yes I did. It's called Camp Leaning Trees, and it's potentially the first in a series of stories.
Unfortunately, all the characters are human(ish), so I'm not certain it makes sense to post it here.
As far as my writing output (as a whole) is concerned, it isn't quite as sparse as the (lack of) submissions might indicate. As mentioned in my last submission, I contributed the seed material for the 'core' encounters at the Cerebus Cybernetics Corporation factory in the Occupational Hazards video game. Since then, I've helped (a little) with the copy editing for the game. I also wrote some seed material for the duo of locations known as 'Pickle Jar' and 'Wholesale Memories'. Wholesale Memories has been implemented in the game with the seed material forming the 'background' of the venue. In contrast, Pickle Jar remains in a 'Coming Soon' state. While the background content for Pickle Jar is finished, the adventures that take place in the venue are not. I've been working on one-off encounter sequence that has reached ~15 pages (11 point font, single spaced or ~7300 words) in length. And it's not even done yet. For Pickle Jar to be deployed in-game, I'd need to finish at least one (more likely 2) of the 'standard' encounters that would be available at the venue. The initial implementation of the encounters will likely be pre-scripted scenes, though the nature of the encounters almost begs for a 'choose your own adventure' design.

Deviant Art thinks I write smut...
Posted 7 years ago... I guess they're right.
As the subject of the journal suggests, I finally broke down and created a Deviant Art account for myself. Even so, I have no plans to leave FA. Prior to uploading my stories there, I read over their rules regarding acceptable content. Among the rules was a ban on content considered pornographic, including some definitions. When I reviewed my stories to see if they included elements that might be considered such, I concluded that roughly half the released stories qualified.
In a way, this isn't a big surprise. The viewpoint into the world where these stories are set has always been rather sexual in nature. While I generally didn't go into explicit detail of acts that would give any porno it's X rating, the stories have always skirted the softcore edge of the D/s niche.
As far as new content is concerned, my muse has been bringing it's focus to a prequel to Homecoming, 2026. I expect this to be live for the general public on the Whateley Academy site in the next month or so. It's currently in the pre-release area, pending a couple edits that I just haven't had time to make. I have yet to decide if I'll upload my Whateley stories to DA, as I don't know if I want to join my identities between communities or not.
Life in general has been keeping me busy, including a long-slog project at the day job that's pushing my whole team towards burnout territory. The light at the end of the tunnel is there, but it's a ways off. I still have other smut stories on my drawing board, but writing is a case of a paragraph here, a paragraph there.

Random stastics
Posted 8 years agoDid you know that there were 51,825 deaths in New York City in 2013, out of a population of (roughly) 8,405,837?
Probably not.
Do you care?
Again, probably not.
Why would I care? I was trying to come up with a rough estimate of how many Eternals live in and around the city where Nicky and her family live. As no size has been stated, I used New York City as a starting point. If an eternal consumes a soul once ever 3-5 years, that would put the number of Eternals in the 150k-250k range, or ~1.8-3% of the population. Put another way, this is roughly half the population of Staten Island, if you packed all the eternals into a single borough.
Percentage wise, this seems about right. If you had a neighborhood with 50 houses, one of them would be occupied by a family of eternals. In terms of raw numbers though, this is 1-2 orders of magnitude larger than I envisioned. However, if the population of eternals falls in the 1-2k range, this would necessitate feeding every 1-2 weeks. Put in prospective, this seems reasonable, but is much more frequent than I'd been thinking it would be.
I suppose one way to explain away the disconnect is to say that eternals don't need/draw on the energy from souls as much when they are younger, or unless they use their (magic) talents heavily. Another is to just ignore the math and not let it get in the way of a hopefully good story.

Itza Story!
Posted 9 years agoFor those watchers with overflowing watchilists (trust me, I know the feeling), I thought I'd make note here that another story has escaped the molasses (or is that liquid latex?) that is my mind. Entitled Warehouse Explorer, you get to follow along behind Nicky as she goes down a particularly kinky rabbit hole. Sadly, the wait until another story comes out here may be a while, as my muse is a bit more interested in producing works set in the Whateley Academy universe. Even so, I do have stories chasing around that could show up here if my muse takes a left-hand turn.
Also, the offer in my last journal post is still open to other content creators. Comment on that journal, and I'll pick my 3 favorite works of yours. In return, you need to extend a similar offer and identify a work of mine that is your favorite.

Pick 1 (or 3)
Posted 9 years ago
KazeNoKitsune had an interesting journal recently, and I thought I'd join in (somewhat belatedly). The basic idea is that anyone can comment on this journal, and I'll identify the three submissions of theirs that I like the most. In return, they need to create a similar journal of their own, identifying the three submissions of mine that they like the most and extending the same offer to others. 🐟 This is offered on a first come/first serve basis. For sanity, this will probably be caped at 20, though I will be very surprised if I get that many people commenting.
🐟 I have a rather small gallery. Given that picking three would be picking close to half of my submissions, I would suggest just picking one. This would provide a better feel for what you feel my best work is.
🐟 The idea of this is not to get a free feature, it is to spread art around for everyone
And my favorite submissions are:

A week chaste...
Nice Dragon! (This was a tough call. I pondered picking a commissioned/gift piece, but decided to go with an original work).
As the Muse turns
Posted 10 years agoIt only took ~5 months since my last update, but my brace of watchers have likely noticed that I finally got Special Project out of my pile and onto the site a couple weeks ago. I managed to mangle the upload the first time around, but I left the mangled upload in scraps on the off chance that FA support would find it useful in diagnosing the bug I encountered.
Taking the place of Special Project in my pile is another story I've titled 'Bad Skunk'. This is something of a fan-fic involving a particular skunkette writer. As such, it won't see the light of day unless I can obtain her permission to share it. The followup to 'First Collar' has been given the name 'Vixen's Gift', though it also will not be posted on FA, for the same reasons I won't be able to post the full version of First Collar. Little traction has been made on the other pending stories in my universe.
In my last journal, I mentioned the Whateley Academy universe. I named the piece of fan-fic that I've been working on 'Homecoming, 2026'. I suppose it would be more accurate to say that the story is actually a series of vignettes, set on a particular day or two in 2026. In the WA universe, this would actually be post-2nd generation (as I understand), but the nice thing about fan fictions is that you can guess at what will happen. Even so, I'm trying to avoid using names in the story, as I don't want to assume that any particular character will die or survive.
Two weeks ago, they Whateley Academy authors posted a short story entitled The Island of Dr. DNA. For those interested in human to equine transformations, this could prove to be an enjoyable read. A familiarity with the universe isn't required, though the significance of some plot points may be missed without it.

Muses are fickle things...
Posted 10 years ago... And I inevitably hit the back button while working on a journal entry.
So what have I been up to in the ~year since I last posted a story, or made my update ~6 months ago? Life for one thing. Reading for another. As readers of my Summer Break story might gather, I have an interest in (human/anthro) pony play. One set of stories I enjoyed reading were written by a writer with the pseudonym Xaltatun Of Acheron. In particular, I enjoyed the Community/Dodecahedron/Freehold family of stories. However, one of the other stories also caught my eye. Entitled To Train A Ponygirl, it is set in a universe called Whateley Academy. I was curious about the universe the story was set in, and ended up reading the bulk of the cannon material generated on this universe. In short, Whateley Academy is a high school for mutants set in a Mutants and Masterminds or Gaslamp style universe. My muse being what it is has suggested a fan-fic or two that I could write set in this universe, with one of them starting to be fleshed out.
As far as the stories in my universe are concerned, I have finished one of them (entitled First Collar). Unfortunately, I feel I would only be able to share a (slightly altered) version of the first third of the story on FA, as I would rather not fall afoul of FA's AUP. I probably will upload this at some point, just not tonight. Beyond this story, I have 6 other stories in flight. The two new stories are a followup on First Collar and an immediate sequel to Endgame. Of the stories that have been chasing around since the last status journal, two are somewhat close to being finished, with one (entitled Special Project) requiring a scene out of the middle and a suitable conclusion and the other (entitled Warehouse Explorer) is about half-way finished, with the remaining scenes penciled out in my head. The other two stories remain mostly unchanged since my update a year or so ago. One is still an outline in my head, while the other has been fleshed out some.
On an unrelated note - The viewers on FA are a bunch of perverts. The stories which I tagged as 'adult' have received 5-10 times as many views as the written material tagged as 'General' or 'Mature'. Well, they do say smut sells....

In response to rubbervixen's query
Posted 11 years agoYes, I do have some stories in the works. 5 stories plus a journal fragment to be exact. Unfortunately, I maintain a very busy life and haven't picked up the proverbial pencil to work on any of them for about a month. (To quote from the journal fragment, 'It's been a few months since I last posted a journal, so I suppose I'm due for an update.')
Even if I haven't communicated directly, I appreciate those who have marked my stories as favorites or chosen to watch for my updates. It shows that people are enjoying my creations, and this is a gratifying feeling.
Of the stories, I have concerns about two of them falling afoul of FA's AUP. Even so, they have been trying to find their way out of my mind, even if in fits and starts, and I have let them do so. Once finished, I probably will share them with a few friends, but I don't know if they'll be released to the wider world. One possibility is that excerpts may be posted on FA. Another is that I could create a SoFurry account and post them there. One of these stories is mostly fleshed out, lacking only part of a couple scenes. The other is in a much earlier state.
Of the other stories trying to escape the clutches of my mind, one is still mostly a skeleton, while the other two are probably 3/4 of the way finished. These are the two stories that I mentioned in my previous update that are set in the afterlife.

Last of the stories for the moment
Posted 12 years agoAnd with tonight's update, the last of my queued up stories has been posted. Today's update was a week later than I had planned, thanks in part to FA going into read-only for an extended period of time. That said, I was rather busy in the days leading up to Christmas, so I don't know if the posting would have happened, even if the outage hadn't happened. I am appreciative of the services provided by the FA administrators, so I'm not going to fault them for the down time. My day job is in the IT field, so I understand what they were going through.
For those who are interested, I am working on a couple more stories in the background, one featuring Nicky and another focusing on Darci. The setting for these stories is a bit different than those I've shared thus far, as they takes place in the afterlife rather than the mortal plane (see the realm guide for a bit more background). I'm not certain when they'll be finished, but I am making progress on both.
Beyond these two stories, there are two other stories on the back burner that set the stage for endgame and a third that takes Nicky and Darci across the bridge from the mortal to the eternal plane. The first two have a basic plot in mind and a few paragraphs written, while the third is just a plot synopsis in my head. Perhaps I will pick these stories up at some time in the future after the ones I'm currently working on a finished.
For those readers who have a few spare minutes, I am interested to hear what you do and do not like about the stories. I would hope that this feedback would help me to become a better writer.

Welcome
Posted 12 years agoA brief greeting to everyone transiting across my page.
The stories that I am posting have been rattling around in my mind or on disk for anywhere from a few weeks to a few years. Over the past couple months, I have made a concentrated effort to try to get them proof-read and ready to share with others.
I plan to upload a new story every week or two while a backlog exists, though I am hardly a prolific writer. Any constructive feedback on the stories would be greatly appreciated.
As you read though the stories, it is likely that certain themes will emerge. For better or for worse, these themes are of a mature nature. The recurring characters in the stories (Nicky, Darci, and Rocko) emerged from a series of IM-based RPs with a friend of mine. These RP sessions helped me get inside the head of the characters to understand how they think.
All the stories come from the same reality, though there is not necessarily a continuity or chronology between them. For those curious, I have put together a writeup of this reality, attempting to provide my readers with an under the hood view of how things really work in it.
