Quick update, commission information.
Posted 14 years agoSo I've been inactive (mostly) for quite a while. I didn't really mean to disappear, but I've hit a few bumps in the road and sometimes you just have take a step back and reorganize everything that your life consists of. School got heavy, my partner, of 3 and a half years, and I separated, he moved out, and I've more or less been trying my best to find level ground to stand on.
School has finally slowed down a little, and the last of my (for lack of a better term) ex's things have been sent back to his new place or packed away, and I finally emerged from my little seclusion. I have the time now, and I feel like I can crawl back and start my art up again. On the bright side, school has at least kept me a little tempered with the pencil, and I think I've even improved a little (see my last submission and compare to previous ones).
That said, this whole...scenario has taken a toll on my income as well. Without another person to split the bills with, it's starting to build up a bit. So to pick the slack up, I'm opening up commissions again. I still dont have a good pricing system. I dont know what's fair, or what my art is worth, so I've talked to some good friends about it and decided to just stick with about $15 and see where it goes. Pricing is below:
Linework (single character): $10
(2 characters): $15
Full Color (with background)(single character): $15
Full Color (with background)(2 characters): $20
I'm ok with most any content (nothing crazy extreme please o.O). If you have any questions or are interested, please send me a PM here on FA. Thanks a lot for taking the time to actually read this.

Wow, I really used to suck.
Posted 15 years agoI just picked through a bunch of my old sketchbooks and I was shocked to find out just how much crap they were full of. Like seriously, I drew some really bad stuff.
I'll be the first to tell you my art is terrible as it currently stands but my gawd some of these sketchbooks are just so bad. I hate complimenting myself but there's no way I can not tell myself that I've improved quite a bit. I dug through some of my stuff here on FA and even that shows pretty vast improvement. Bad anatomy, obviously rushed projects, complete disregard for certain techniques. It's like I had way too many ideas and didn't know how to pace myself when putting them on to paper. It really makes me want to go back and revisit some of them, maybe do them again with more patience and practice. I don't know.
Just thought of thought I'd share that. I'm probably going to burn these, ugh. I never want to look at them again.

Paranormal Activity 2
Posted 15 years agoParanormal Activity 2 pretty much scared the poop out of me. I wasnt scared a whole lot during the first one but this one was all kinds of jump out and scare you. I actually think I like the first one a whole hell of a lot more because I saw the sequel. It really expands on a lot. Anyway, it's probably not all that great if you dont scare easy by people in masks going BOOGEYBOOGEYBOOGEYBOO. But it's not hard to make me jump, so I really enjoyed it.
Also, fun fact: sneaking a 99 cent burrito from taco bell into the theater instead of buying their expensive-ass food is a REALLY awesome idea.

Photoshop Question! - Lineart
Posted 15 years agoI've been looking at some other artists on youtube who put up videos of their process. I've seen a great deal of artists use the pen tool in photoshop for their line art. Now I'm not trying to dodge it here- I really want my linework to look less messy, but the pen tool seems freakishly overcomplicated. It's like learning geometry to be really good at playing pool. I'm curious to know if other artists use the pen tool to make their linework smooth, or is there another trick I'm just missing?
In the mean time, I guess I'm just going to have to start practicing a lot more with it.

Busy Busy
Posted 15 years agoSorry to those of you who sent me PMs here on the site or have tried to contact me via IM. Real life events (including a death in the family) forced me to take some time off and re-evaluate what's been going on my life, so I've been sparse for over a month now.
My semester is currently in full swing, and with my time off I've decided to change my major back to art (what i intended when I left high school years ago) and study to become a teacher. Every art teacher I've ever had has inspired me in some way, made me -want- to try harder, to do better. And I think that it's what I'd like to do someday- to inspire someone else to draw and create. It's a long road ahead, but I think in the end it'll be worth the while, and in that time frame I've got a lot to learn myself.
But this is all just my own introspection. With my goals finally in place, I feel like I can gravitate back here again. Hopefully I'll be able to keep producing art, and hopefully you'll all keep looking at it.

Posted 15 years agoBelieve it or not, I've actually stopped playing WoW and Monster Hunter and am focusing on my last few finals and spring cleaning (and as 
teiganas would know, I've been waging war on my network). I'm sick of living like a slob and I'd actually like to get some decent grades this time around. So I apologize to my commissioners for the wait. It should all slow down to normal by the end of this week.

Ok, so yeah, she sold my shit. No biggie, it was just that: shit. The big deal is that it made me quick cash, which helped on the bills and I had just enough to pick up Monster Hunter Tri, which
elsydeonkuragari talked me in to. I dont know the first fucking thing about slaying big ass dragons and shit, so the more people I can play with to make me feel less like an idiot flailing around a big buster sword the better. doggieo, who apparently is a huge monster hunter fanboy, will be playing as well. When he gets the game in near future.
So yeah, when I get set up (I seriously have a ways to go, I'm kind of like "lol this isn't WoW"), I would absolutely looooooooooove some peeps to play with so I dont get my ass kicked <3

Posted 15 years agoSince my car accident in January, my expenses have been pretty tight. Nothing I cant handle, but I've had some "ohshi-" moments. The only reason I bring it up is because a few days ago, my Xbox Live subscription ran out, and that was the only expense I hadn't cut out of necessity (even World of Warcraft was put on hold) , since you pay for it once a year and it hadn't crossed my mind.
elsydeonkuragari, who's a very close friend of mine, was so sweet as to renew my subscription for another year as a belated birthday gift when he learned I couldn't afford it. Personally, I can rarely afford any huge birthday gifts myself, so I never expect them in return. I'm 21, and birthdays are typically something I associate with younger kids, especially my niece and my nephew.
So to me, this is a big thing. So thank you, it really does mean a lot to me, and at the end of a long day it's wonderful to be able to sign in and rock some fucking noob face in Halo or torch some zombies in Left 4 Dead 2. You're a sweetheart.

Posted 15 years agoThe hyena and I finally had enough, and after going through a 3rd router in the last 2 months, we splurged and got a pretty nice one. Wireless even, so our apartment is a hotspot now and we can actually play some online games on our consoles.
I just got setup with Playstation Network, the Wii, and the DS, and we might do the Xbox later on (I dont feel like paying a fee). I'm also on World of Warcraft still (didn't end up quitting because I'm kind of a whore).
I put all the info in my profile up above, if anyone wants to go a few rounds in Blazblu, Soul Calibur, or whatever, hit me up. I'm game.

Anyone Out There Play This Shit Online??
Posted 16 years agoOk, I just got word that highspeed internet is FINALLY out in my area. The restaurant across the street just got set up and I've got a guy coming down to check us out on Monday. We're finally fucking connected to the outside world.
Of course, this implies that I'm going to game like a motherfucker. So I need names. WoW, Lord of the Rings Online, Left 4 Dead, Xbox Live, all that shit. I want names. If anyone out there plays and needs a party member/survivor/partner whatever, let me know and I might join in.
I already own Left 4 Dead. I'll be playing that a shitload. Probably also Halo 3, which is only fun multiplayer anyway. I also already have Eye of Judgment and Soul Calibur 4, and have Street Fighter 4 reserved (all 3 on PS3). I've got a bunch of friends on campus who want me to pick up Lord of the Rings Online and World of Warcraft also. But I'm not a huge LotR guy and WoW is kind of dull after 2 years of it. Also, I'm gonna need a co-op partner for Resident Evil 5 when that comes out.
I'm so fucking excited, you have no idea. Yena gave up high speed when he moved in and has been missing it ever since. I've never actually had it. So this is going to be a completely new and awesome experience for me. I'm mostly excited about being able to actually play an online game with yena in my party together at once. Before now we had to switch out.

It's all downhill from here :D Also, thanks to the bad economy, my hours have been cut. So although I'm going to be poorer, I'll have a lot more time to draw. Yay!
