I'm not dead but I have been in hiding, for which I apologize! I have a backlog of things that I need to reply to (messages, comments, email, sigh), which I'm going to try to get through the next few days!

Here's some updates on what's been up lately, by way of meager excuses:

Started a full-time out-of-the-house lab job! we're on the cutting edge of cell therapy, and the training is pretty intense. This in combo with being surrounded by people all day is something that's taking some serious adjustments. Especially in the waowaowao suddenly surrounded by cishet people all day who are misgendering me? and then WAO WAO there are NO STALLS in the changing room (we have to strip down to undies and then don regulation super-sanitary gowning to go in the lab)... stressland, although so far the people have actually been pretty nice and I actually am sort of liking the actual job. Just not used to social environments, and also not used to normal society in general anymore? ahaha.

Holidays + grandma death + moved to a new apartment (still in the process of moving woops) = this is the first weekend with just vombatiformes and I since starting this job. And it's mostly devoted to cleaning up our old apartment actually haha.

I'm hoping that we'll get that hellhole cleaned out tonight and tomorrow, and then we'll be able to concentrate on properly unpacking and I'll be able to get back to commission work sometime towards the end of next week?

That's basically it, What this means is that I'm dreadfully behind on commssion work :( I will not be taking any more new commissions AT LEAST until my current que is finished. Unfortunately I can no longer devote my entire day to art, so my que will probably take a while to get through

(Commissioners, please feel free to instate reasonable deadlines. I will be contacting you in the next few days anyway to check in, but know that i'm happy to work with you in the meantime)

Sooo we sort of owe money to our landlord (he lost our money order for rent a few months ago, then we got it refunded, but instead of mailing the refund to him again right away we used some for food to keep from literally starving), and now he's (understandably) begun calling us regularly to ask about the missing money...

And so I'd like to take a special quick-fuck-make-some-moneyAAH commission to replenish some of it!?

As usual, this type of slot is time-dependent, meaning that if you take it you'll receive your art within 24 hours of payment or your money back!

Ideally I'd like to make $120 :O but that's a lot for one commission so here are your options!

Slots:

1a. $120: a 12character sketch, a 6character drawing, a 3character simple-shade drawing, 3 portraits, a 2character painting, 2 badges, a full illustration with a simple background, OR 12 hours of freestyle (any amount of characters or details)

1b. $60: 6character sketch, 3 character drawing, 1 character painting, badge, a full-character traditional painting (price reduced for convinience - normally $70!!),
2. $60: 6character sketch, 3 character drawing, 1 character painting, badge, a full-character traditional painting (price reduced for convinience - normally $70!!), OR 6 hours of freestyle (any amount of characters or details)

This is a little confusing so basically what i'm trying to say is first-come first serve, if somebody takes the $120 slot then that's all i'm gonna do in 24 hours, but if that's too much money then i'll take 2 $60 slots. I've given some examples of what you could get for the prices listed, but also feel free to ask about anything similar that you'd be interested in.

Completion Time
A lot factors into completion time. Generally I'd expect anywhere from within 24 hours to a month, depending on where the commission is in my que. I will generally give an estimate prior to receiving payment, but this is only an estimate. Feel free to request deadlines if you are concerned (see below)!

Deadlines
Hard deadlines are to be agreed upon by both the commissioner and I prior to payment. Requests for deadlines can be made at any time, but must be requested at least a week prior to the deadline and deadlines requested after payment are at my discretion to be followed.

Mail
For traditional pieces mailing costs are the commissioners responsibility. I mail on Fridays and use USPS priority mail unless otherwise requested.

Pay-By-The-Hour
A commissioner is always welcome to request pay-by-the-hour rates instead of the flat-rates listed on my priceguide. In these situations I require $10/hour and will do my best to work for the requested amount of time in the style that the commissioner chooses (I will use an internet timer and stop whenever the allotted time is up). If I finish early I will refund the commissioner in increments of $5(30minutes)!

Payment
All payments must be made before work begins. Exceptions are made if the commissioner wants to pay for “stages” of work (the commissioner could pay for a sketch and then later pay to have it completed, for example. Ask if interested).

Progress Shots
I often work in single sessions, but progress shots will be provided if requested.

Refunds
A commissioner can request a refund prior the start of work. After work begins, commissioners will be refunded appropriately based on the time spent working at $10/hour (for example, if a refund is requested two hours into a $40 piece, a $20 refund will be given).

Revisions
Small revisions (take less than 15 minutes, example: addition of minor markings, hair, or small color changes) will be made for free. Large revisions are at my discretion to make, and additional payment ($10/hour, $5/30min) may be requested, depending on the situation and requested revision. Any revisions that are obviously my fault will be free (for example, if a wolf was requested and I provided a giraffe)!

Subject Matter
I am happy to depict nearly everything (including adult work), just ask! I do reserve the right to charge extra for things that will take more time (cars or vore, for example) or to decline commissions that would be upsetting to depict. As of now, my only hard noes right now are animal cruelty (humanoid gore is fine) and non-consensual sex.

OK so the grant I'm working from ran out on the 30th, BUT my bossbossboss (not to be confused with my bossboss, warblingbear) is going to pay me out of pocket until I get all of our photos uploaded?

BASICALLY I'm still doing full-time bug-work for an indeterminate time? Which means that I guess I'm going to be putting off opening for commissions AGAIN. I'll probably open soonish ANYWAY because I'd like to begin working immediately after my current employment ends, but everything is up in the air.

You guys I am so excite for him but seriously please be nice no harassing! He's really smart and friendly and he knows a lot about ecology and birds! He's one of the only people (1/4) on this planet that I talk to on a regular basis, so really I mean it when I say that if you make friends with him it is worth it 100%

My grant for caterpillar work runs out at the end of March, and after that I'm (hopefully) going to try and make things work as an artist!

That means that In the next few days I'll start opening up for some 'warmup' commissions. These will be completed before the end of march, and will help me assess if my prices are right (I'd like to end up making ~$10/hour).

These would be a range of commission types, but I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to categorize my work? I mean, there are clearly item-style commissions (badge or icon), but for things like sketches, I'd prefer to offer options for time spent on it? So you could pay $20 for a two hour drawing or $40 for a four hour rough painting, etc. or $10 for an hour sketch and $20 for a 2 hour refined sketch?

Maybe I should just be working and taking a picture of what I've got after each hour, and upload that as a price guide, and people can pay whatever depending on which time-frame they prefer?

:X I just don't know how to do this, so if anybody has suggestions please let me know!
