I admit that I'm more active on Tumblr than anywhere else these days, mostly because I can get access all of my interests at once there (art and science and andand), but as far as POSTING art goes, FA has been my #1 choice, except that nobody seems to be here much anymore?

The rabbit picture I just uploaded has shortly become my submission with the most favorites!! AND the ratio of favorites/view is also very high! It looks like almost every other person who looks at it favorites it (which is veryvery flattering to me).

The reason I say I'm satisfied is not because I think I deserve these favorites, but because this piece is so much more popular than my adult stuff! I was afraid of drawing porn because I thought it would easily out-compete art that I had put more work and/or thought into. . . but I've been proved wrong!

Wow! Yesterday we finished up the season. In the end I think we had to freeze and vial 400 of our caterpillars for lack of manpower to keep rearing them, but other than that it's been a wonderful summer! I think we took in and reared about 2,000 caterpillars, and I have photographs of all of them! In most cases I have several photographs of each!

I really want to show them all off, but hopefully this winter I'll be employed to clean them all up, post some or all of them to bugguide and MAKE A FIELD GUIDE TO CATERPILLARS WITH A KEY. ALSO they know I'm artsy fartsy so they're going to pay me to make a caterpillar watermark and maybe teeshirts. LOL.

((I also have an idea for a taxonomic publication that I'm pretty excited about but we'll have to wait for the DNA barcode stuff to come back firsttt))

SO ANYWAY. I'm taking this weekend off for myself. These past two weeks we worked every day from 7AM-5ish and I'm exhausted. But after thatttt there will be art. I hope to finish up commissions and some needlefelting projects and some illustrations for a children book collaboration andandandandand

Sorry I know this is sort of late, but right after AC I had to work again, ug. I haven't gotten enough sleep this past week to feel coherent enough to post but HEY NOW HERE I AM.

ANYHOW IT WAS GREAT. EVERY year (been going since I was 14) I intend to meet new people and sit around and art with people. and EVERY year I have FAILED MISERABLY.

Met some coolio people (burgerbaby, holey crap! Also bug freakout with HelloDejaVu and Seely among othersss) ANDANDAND I got the nerve to talk to one of my favorite artists ever, coey-kuhn and he wasn't freaked out!

:) My new-years resolution for the past two years has been to become a better communicator, and that includes making new friends and gaining more self confidence. BLAHBLAHBLAH I think I'm actually improving!

ANYWAY ENOUGH ABOUT ME, Anthrocon was really fun, did I mention that?
-There were these wonderful creepy horse-people (one of them, thehorseman was especially charming), and a significant lack of one mister pedo-bunny (who has been haunting my Anthrocons since I turned 18).
-it was Meatball-the-cat's first con, and it was wonderful seeing her see all the furries for the first time!
-having a table next to breakspire was refreshing! We got to fan over coey together which I really appreciated (since apparently the furries do not know of him yet?).
-Did I mention I spent more money on art this year than I ever have in my life? :X Bad financial decisions on my part, but it was so fun! I think I finally understand why people spend money on artttt (I want mooore)
-Discovered the fun of arting for free again (trading with burgerbaby and coey was really rewarding.)
-loooved rooming with scriber again :D

((I know I sound like a debby downer, but in all actuality I'm REALLY EXCITED. CANNOT WAIT. And in person I'm still a debby downer, but usually everything is framed in laughter, so it's not as down as here on the internet with no tones))

We finally got the internet working so that vombatiformes and I can use it at the same time (and consequently I now have access to the internet!)!

This is all very exciting for me, except for that I also just started work (a week and a day ago). I LOVE my job (caterpillar collecting, Identifying, feeding, etc), but it's LONG and exhausting (8-12 hour days depending on how much work there is to do, walking around first and second-succession forests bending over trees* to search them for caterpillars).

SO during the week I'm not going to be all that productive (come home, cook, sleep), but I do plan on continuing my commission work, have no fear! I'm about half an hour away from finishing Jet's badge, and then I'll sketch abakan's and start MsRed's tonight.

We had a beautiful warm streak (up to 85!) in the beginning of march. Got me and all the spring amphibians and flowers all excited. BUT NOW it's cold again. high of ~45, low of ~20? ;__; I just want it to be as as warm as it looks outside!

AND that warm-streak convinced my body, so now I'm extra-sensitive to the cold or something and my hands are constantly freezing, complete with blue fingernails. I'm typing this with gloves on. it's really hard.

AND AND we're almost entirely out of wood for our wood-burning stove, so no heat for us unless it gets cold enough to warrant using the last of our supply. BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW.
