I'm a full time rabbit now
Posted a year agoI'm retiring my birdsona, Arrkay and Rusty Shacklefur are now the same person. Rusty's my "stage name" for YouTube. What, your fursona doesn't have it's own fursona?
I played D&D as a lovable harengon bard named Rutherford (lvl 3-20), then I did mushrooms and wanted nothing more than to be a rabbit (next trip I'm determined to fursuit). I can't say I've ever related to my bird-self in the same way as I have been a hare recently. Once Rusty's retrofit is done (he's getting all his red fur replaced), that will be my main fursona moving forward (or whenever because it's all for fun).

Not-Toronto Conventions

I'm considering setting aside some OSAP money for an out-of-town con this year, I want to hear some recommendations.
I'm thinking about WhatTheFur (Montreal), Condition (London) or getting my passport and going to either Mid West Fur Fest (Chicago) or going all out and going to Anthrocon.
Whats the best con? Any particularly good or bad experiences that might influence my decision?

I've been watching all manner of anthro-themed movies and I was wondering what your favourites are.
I'm a big fan of classics like Robin Hood and Fritz the Cat, childhood memories like Balto and modern films like Fantastic Mr Fox.
Anthro has a rich history in film and I've been exploring every avenue, from the old old OLD ass film Tale of the Fox (1937) (AKA Le Roman de available on Youtube) to Animal Farm (1954).
I've also just downloaded the shows Dog City and The Animals of Farthing Wood to consider as well.
Post some of your favourites!

Calling Artists, Musicians, and Funny people (Toronto)

Me and my roommate host CAM Night at the Central in Mirvish Village downtown. CAM is for Comedy, Art and Music. Hosted by the comedic stylings of confused human: Loren SanCartier. Typically it is at the second to last thursday of the month starting at 9 p.m. Its a chill, fun night at a great bar. We always love to see more new faces if anyone wants to come check it out first.
We want acoustic musicians and comedians to perform, and we also are looking to cover the walls in some art to set the mood.
If you feel like showing off your skills, have a beer and a laugh, send me a note or otherwise come to the Central on our next CAM night and talk to us.

School, Stand-Up Comedy, Conventions, and Comics

Good News: So I have recently been accepted into the Harris Institute for the Arts Management program, a program I am very excited about (with special thanks to
potoroo for being my reference). I will be starting this one year program in mid July.
Me and my talented roommate Loren organize a Comedy Arts and Music night (CAM night) at the Central in downtown Toronto (usually the second to last Thursday of the month). If you are interested in doing stand-up comedy, are an acoustic musician, or looking for a place to showcase some art, let me know and I can gladly pencil you in as part of the performance.
Bad News: I am still not employed and thus haven't been able to scrounge up cash for a con this year. It seems unlikely that I will be able to attend Feral (but we will see). I really wanted to go to either Condition F or WTFur but it seems I won't have the funds for hotel and registration.
Although what I might do for some con-cash is sell off some of my books and unique possessions. I'll post another journal if I do (anyone interested in the complete Walking Dead TPB's?)

Posted 13 years agoFurnal was a lot of fun this year, even if I only went for the saturday. Met some new people and got to hang out with the whole gang. March got me some swag (gargoyles art) my brother 
sadak came for a room party. The dance was ok, dealers den maybe would have been better if I had more money to spend heh.
Hopefully I have a job in time for the next con. I can probably only afford to go to one though.

Makin a Bird Partial

Me and my lovely roommate March (not on FA) have begun working on a Bird of Paradise partial fursuit! I'll take pictures as we go, right now I'm stuck on acquiring fiberglass resin for the beak. We plan to also make a simple tail and hopefully some cuddle and dance-floor proof articulated wings!
We'll need a name for this up and coming bird, any suggestions?

I'm kinda in the need of a ride if anyone is driving up, I'll pitch gas money and a meal. It'd make life a little easier for me and a bunch of feral staff. I'll only have a duffle and a garbage bag of baguettes.

nayo which made it that much more awesome. It was fun for a first con and I'll probably go back for next year! It was good to see everyone and I'm glad people made it out
