Reawaken!
Posted 5 years agoI figure it's about time I actually do something with this account again. It's been stagnating with some hellishly old art for quite some time now. My main, most active account will still remain over at Deviantart and updates will still occur there first, but I'll start cross-posting here at as well.
Whoooo back in...
Posted 9 years agoAnd now let uploads begin ! ( if you watch me over at DA, sorry, nothing new, just moving stuff over x3 )
^_^ x
Posted 9 years agoThank you so much to those who helped out. I am truly humbled by the kindness people in this community continually show.
While I continue to finish tying up loose ends here and get things squared away, I will start uploading again soon :3

How do I shot Website?
Posted 10 years agoFA has changed A LOT since I have been here. It took me a few minutes just to figure out how to get a new journal created XD It's gonna take me awhile to start navigating this website again.
Anyhow, I have mostly been over at DeviantArt uploading fanart, which isn't too appropriate a genre over here ( I would just feel weird uploading nothing by fanart over here ). However, it has been quite cathartic in dealing with the split of my ex fiance and myself, losing almost everything I own, including my job ( I iz no longer a Baccarat Dealer; boohoo ), but I am a much healthier, happier person. Things always work out if you are willing to accept that there are some things that you can't change, and surround yourself with good people and loving and caring friends that help lift you up as opposed to tearing you down. I've been very lucky and I'm very grateful for my new lease on life. Sometimes we have to be shattered in order to rebuild better versions of ourselves.
Anyway, gonna slowly try to resume some uploads again here as I can. Right now I have something like, 23,723 devwatch art submissions to get through and over 8,097 journals O_o You'll have to forgive me if I just decide to nuke them and start off fresh ^_^;
I'm gonna be pretty intermittent around here, at least for awhile. If you really need to contact me for something, it's easier to reach me over at my DA account ( http://artaith-21.deviantart.com ). Much thanks to everyone who stuck around despite my inactivity!

Missing Malamute/Rokuta Found
Posted 14 years agoJust an update I am more than thrilled to be making. My Alaskan Malamute, Rokuta who went missing on 9-10-11 after he and my wolfdog, Chinook, were kicked into a creekbed by two strangers, just turned up in the middle of the night. He was found in the front yard to our house, laying against the fence to our backyard. I have no idea how far he walked to make it home on his own- but I am both relieved and very proud of him. I started the process of adopting Rokuta back in 2006- he was rescued from an abusive situation where he was kept in a backyard full of pit bulls and other malamutes ( dog hoarder ) and there was never enough food to go around, none of the animals were altered, and dog fights broke out over food and mating rights all the time. Because of it, he can be a highly anxious dog and is terrified of the most mundane things ( like the pink afghan at my girlfriend Cosette's house ).
Rokuta, simply put, is not a street-wise dog- and the fact that he has been lost in the California desert has had me a wreck since Saturday. However, sometimes we are so used to our wolfdog Chinook's cleverness and boldness by comparison that we don't give Rokuta enough credit. He managed to find his way home on his own, and I can't be happier. Aside from being dehydrated and some scrapes and a bad limp ( which is more than likely days of walking with his bad hip dysplasia ) he is okay.
I just wanted to thank everyone on here who reposted my journal, noted, emailed, and commented with sympathetic words. You have no idea how much it means to me- and the people who live in my area who went as far as to offer to drive around looking for him. I am sincerely appreciative. This is the side of the furry fandom I wish was seen more often.

EMERGENCY- Please Spread Word - Missing Malamute
Posted 14 years agoIf you are still following old links to this journal, please see the update here:
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2719929/
Thanks!!!!
Please- I'm desperate and I don't know where else to turn at the moment. This is a shout out to anyone living around the Riverside County area in Southern California. My dogs were with my fiancé and got loose. I recieved a call from someone saying they were last seen being kicked into a creekbed by a strange man and child out near the Temecula area. Chinook, my wolfdog, has been recovered, but my Alaskan Malamute, Rokuta, is still missing.
Please- if anyone sees him- please cotact me or the local animal shelter or police ( we have left messages there already looking for him ). His name is on his tag.
Here is his photo:

More special ( lack of a better title )
Posted 14 years agoIt's been a horribusy weekend here in Casinoland, as all holiday weekends are. My post-surgery wounds were starting to heal up nicely- but after returning back to pitching ye ol' cards at jaded gamblers, the incision has swollen up pretty badly and started to fill with fluid ( sorry to gross you out ) so back to the doctor I go this week.
It's cut down on my productivity, to say the least, but just the same, I'll still have a couple of uploads and owed art posted within the next few days. Just not as many finished pieces and not as promptly as I hoped.

Wow, that's special...
Posted 14 years agoI finally went to upload some artwork for commission and trades I owe, and I keep getting 'failed to write to disk' errors. Been browsing the forums and so far, I'm not seeing a solution to this problem.
Gah, aggravation.
Edit: And I see on the front page that they're looking into it now. So disregard, I guess.
But still...... aggravation!

Surgery Updatage
Posted 14 years agoJust letting folx know I came out of it alright. For the last few days my whole frigging right arm was tied/taped to my side. Pain was pretty unbearable. It's been a trial just doing simple things like eating or pulling back my hair with only one hand/arm available. Was finally able to remove the larger surgical dressings and the incision/wound area is pretty ugly and puffy. Have to wait for the surgical tape to eventually fall off on it's own.
My main concern is that there is more nerve damage, as there has been no feeling in the entire area from my elbow to my shoulder since the surgery. I don't know if it's temporary or if it's permanent damage, so a little worried about that.
Was able to finally pick up a pencil again, though I can only do a little bit of tight, clean-up sketching a couple of minutes at a time as it is now ( currently lack the range of motion to do full sketching and art ), but hoping I'm on my way to being able to do more soon.
I also have a TON of comments and watches ( and people I want to watch back ) that I need to get around to responding to, and I promise to later in the week once I start feeling a bit better. Thanks everyone for your patience.
Once again, I thank everyone for their support.

Surgery on Drawing Arm Monday Morning
Posted 14 years agoJust an update that my surgery is finally taking place Monday morning on 8/8, at 9 am, Pacific Time. Per Kaiser, they have unsuccessfully been trying to treat me with drugs since last year, and the pain has gotten so bad and the problem so much worse they finally approved me for surgery. I was originally scheduled to have it at the end of August but the last couple of weeks have been so excruciating ( I'm talking, wake-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night-screaming excruciating ) that I managed to get it moved up to earlier.
I've had various major surgeries all my life ( my body is a walking tower of epic fail ) but I'm really nervous about this one as it's on my drawing arm and one of the nerves ( ulnar ) has already been damaged and has left me with little use and zero feeling of the last two fingers of my drawing hand.
Anyway, art has been painfully slow due to all this ( as you can see from my lack of uploads ) and I'm hoping I come out of this the better for it, and can get back in the swing of things shortly after.
Thanks for all your support, guys.

Upcoming surgery = slow to respond
Posted 14 years agoJust wanted to remind people that I will be going into surgery this month, and I will be missing a few weeks of my regular "9-5" job to recover after said surgery, as well. So I do appreciate you guys understanding and having some patience when it takes me awhile to get around to answering notes/emails that require more than 1 line answers, and finishing up my art work load.
Thanks very much, guys!

Hospital, New laptop, doctor, new tablet, doctor, doctor...
Posted 14 years agoIt's been a rough several of months, and May was particularly rough, being hospitalized twice in one week, the second time for a serious allergic reaction to some medication I was put on.
The fan in my laptop died, which has been causing my laptop to overheat and shut off after limited use. I could barely get any work in Photoshop on commissions done ( almost all my commissions I need to finish are digital ) before the computer literally shut off in the middle of what I was doing. Replacing the fan in the laptop was going to run me anywhere from $250-$300 for parts and labor apparently, and I would be without it for about 2-3 weeks during the repair. So for that trouble, I just went ahead and bought a brand new one, seeing as it was almost 3 years old anyway and still running Vista. I dropped a good chunk of money, and the new one is a lot faster and more powerful, and should run Photoshop a lot smoother. Of course, now for all the "not compaitable with my current" scanner crap.
Regardless, all the progress on the digital commissions was backed up on an external drive, so nothing was lost on my dying one. I've already stated that all my wonderfully patient commissioners who are still waiting will get little extra freebies with their main piece.
I also bought a new Wacom Intuous tablet. My last tablet just was not cutting it, and was making the coloring process so much slower.
Anyway, was feeling better momentarily, but took a turn for the worse this afternoon for a current health problem I'm being treated for ( kidneys ) so it's back into the doctor tomorrow. I've spent so much time at Kaiser I may as well just camp out in the parking lot. I'm really getting tired of being jabbed with needles, injected with dye, and peeing in cups, though.
Anyway, that's the update. Sorry to those that I have been falling behind on communication/notes with, but that's why. I've been spending anywhere from 2-3 days a week at the doctor's office or ER for the past several months now, and that kind of crap just really interferes with your daily life.

I don't normally do these...
Posted 14 years ago..but this one sure is getting a lot of mileage. Something to do as a tiny break from my insane work and commission schedule.
LAYERS MEME
LAYER ONE : THE OUTSIDE
- Name: Kylen, but I have spent my entire life answering to the mispronunciations 'KylEEn' and 'KAYlen'. Really, how effin' hard is it? It's just 'Kyle' with an 'n'.
- Eye Color: Hazel
- Hair Style/Color: Two-tone: The top 2/3 rds of my hair is red, and the bottom third of my hair is blond, with a couple of blond streaks/chunks framing my face and in my sideswept bangs
- Height: 5'6
- Clothing style: It varies. Every day pretty much jeans and some type of tank top, or baby doll top, wear lots of Ed Hardy and Juicy Coiture brand name, wear sandals all throughout summer but combat boots throughout fall and winter. Some days wear headbanger style clothes and tees of my favorite metal bands or stuff with skulls, etc., other days I'm wearing girly shit with butterflies on it. I confuse the hell out of people as far as my sexuality, and I like it that way, lol. When it comes to my job, I have to dress like a dude- I'm a Dealer, you know. Vests and pants and little bowties. The other female Dealers like to wear high heels, which is insane when you are standing at one table for 8 hours. I break out those combat boots again....
- Best physical feature: I honestly don't know. I'm not good at picking those kind of things out for myself- so I guess I'll go with the obvious thing people first notice: all natural 40 inch Double D breasts :p I reeeaaaalllly wish they'd attempt to look me in the eye first :p Personally I don't call them my best feature because they're a pain in the ass/get in the way/back pain blah blah blah.
LAYER TWO: THE INSIDE
- Your fears: Abandonment, growing old alone and dying alone
- Your guilty pleasure: Neil Diamond
- Your biggest pet peeve: I have a few, it's hard to say what my biggest one is. So I'll just go with a pet peeve that drives me crazy at my job: telling a gambler OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER *NOT* to do a certain rule-breaking/cheating move, and they do it right in front of my face numerous times. It's disrespectful and annoying as hell. Like tonight, one of my most annoying repeat offenders in Baccarat who I tell EVERY DAMN DAY to stop cheating the table minimum of $25 by trying to cap $10 on top of someone else's minimum bet tried to do it again, this time trying to pass the chips under the table to the person she was trying to get to help her cheat, right under my nose, like I'm stupid and can't see. I yelled at them both for being f'in morons and thinking they can slide that shit by me.
- Your ambitions for the future: Be happy
LAYER THREE: THOUGHTS
- Your first thoughts waking up: 'I hate my job.. I don't want to go... I want to quit... I hate gamblers...'
- What you think about most: Will everything turn out alright?
- What you think about before bed: 'God...when I get up...it's just more work...' Otherwise... fantasize or daydream or some other stupid shite.
- You think your best quality is: Fiercely independent, I do what has to be done ( Christ, I work 14 hours a day, 7 days a week to pay the bills ), I don't take bullshit and I will put myself on the line for those I care about if I feel they are being taken advantage of or unfairly treated, no matter what the repercussions are for myself
LAYER FOUR: WHAT'S BETTER?
- Single or group dates: It depends. If I'm in a long-term relationship, it's fun to get together with other couples. If I'm just starting off in a new one, I want mostly single dates to spend time getting to know the person
- To be loved or respected: Kind of odd question. It's kind of relative, isn't it?
- Beauty or brains: Smarts.
- Dogs or cats: Dogs.
LAYER FIVE: DO YOU?
- Lie: If my my Mom didn't try to run my life from 500 miles away and still keep getting into my business, I wouldn't have to
- Believe in yourself: It comes and it goes.
- Believe in love: I did at one time.
- Want someone: Yes
LAYER SIX: EVER?
- Been on stage: Yes
- Done drugs: Never.
- Changed who you were to fit in: I've tried to become interested in the same things as others in order to fit in with them/get closer to them, but never change myself.
LAYER SEVEN: FAVORITES
- Favorite color: Blue
- Favorite animal: Wolves. Closely followed by dogs, rats, kangaroos, and okapi.
- Favorite movie: I've got way too many list. See my profile page for some :p
- Favorite game: Dunno. Don't have much time for them these days.
LAYER EIGHT: AGE
- Day your next birthday will be: May 21
- How old will you be: 30. Oh God, 30. I want to sob. Where did my youth full of hopes, dreams, and innocence go?
- Age you lost your virginity: Don't feel this needs to be public knowledge.
- Does age matter: To a degree. Really, every situation is different, every person is different, every relationship is different, and age will apply accordingly.
LAYER NINE: IN A BOY OR GIRL
- Best personality: Compassionate, honest, genuine, has a good sense of humor
- Best eye color: Blue or green I guess. Never really gave it much thought. Something very vibrant and lively about blue, though.
- Best hair color: Once again, never really gave it much thought. Something medium to dark in guys, I guess, in women, pretty much every color but black.
- Best thing to do with a partner: Walking hand in hand, taking in sights, whether looking at trinkets at a flea market or looking at exhibits at a museum.
LAYER TEN: FINISH THE SENTENCE
- I love: too greatly
- I feel: betrayed
- I hide: my pain
- I miss: simpler times
- I wish: for things that I simply have no control over
LAYER ELEVEN: I TAG
- Who do you tag? No one in particular. Hate to put people on the spot. I do read all of those that have been posted to my friends' journals.

Story Snippet Posted, Sick Again, Commissions Wrap Up
Posted 14 years agoPosted a small portion of Artaith's story from my long-ass fanfic, since a handful of people have expressed interest. Doc put me on stronger siezure meds that seem to help, but also added another round of meds that are making me pretty ill right now. Commissions are finishing up and being posted soon- my commissioners will also receive little simple, color sketch 'freebies' for their awesome patience.
Casino + second job really killing me right now- and sucking up all my creative time. Planning on taking a small vacation sometime soon- leave the state, see some people, etc. etc.
Anyway, thanks guys for your notes and kindness and patience!

Story Snippet, Sick Again, Co
Posted 14 years agoJust in time for the holidays
Posted 15 years agoFINALLY got the house finished. The last quarter of the house finally got carpeted, after being delayed when the carpenters ran out of carpet, our color/grain ended up being on backorder, and then the damn truck carrying our order got stranded in a snowstorm in Utah.
Almost all the rest of the furniture has been moved back in, and have put back together almost all of my work station and computer stuff that wasn't destroyed by the flood. Also got a new Wacom tablet to finish up the digital commissions, and finally set up 1 of 2 brand new expensive printers. So I'm right in the middle of finishing up the commissions that had to be put on hold during this whole mess, and as soon as they start getting posted here, I'll get back to the people who have been on my commissions waiting list- and after that, I'm not taking any new commissions for awhile. -Whew- things have just been too hectic with the flood and renovation nightmare, having pneumonia, and the holidays all at once, and I really need the break to focus on other things and personal stuff.
Once again, thanks so much to all. Your patience and support has been absolutely stellar. You guys are fantastic.

Are We Done Yet?
Posted 15 years agoJust a couple of days from Thanksgiving, and the house is still not done. While the old tile was finally jackhammered out and the new flooring laid, only half the house got carpeted... coz they ran out of carpet and had it on back-order. So it finally comes in and when the carpenters bring it, the color is so far off from what they already laid down in half the house. So we say, 'no way are you installing that'. So they send a sample of it back to the mill, and if it's less than 5% off, too bad, we gotta take it. If it's in fact more than 5% different grain, then we gotta wait even longer for a new batch. Urgh.
So yeah. Half the house carpeted, the other half concrete still. Started moving some of the furniture back in anyway, and am going to set up a temporary computer and art station on the side of the house that is finished after the Holiday, so I can finally finish my commissions that had to be put on hold for all this crap.
I hope I never, EVER have to deal with flood damage again. It's been a nightmare.
I know I am waaaaaay behind on notes and emails and art guys. I am so grateful your patience and am slowly working thru the backlog.

Life in a plastic bubble
Posted 15 years agoSo........ Only half the carpet got laid Thursday. On Friday the carpenters came out to lay the new tile and wood floors, but first they had to remove the old tile. Disaster. The supervisor said he has never seen such well-laid tile before in his life. They jackhammered at that shit ALL DAY LONG, blowing a breaker and burning up one of their machines, so they had to leave and return with another one. By the time they were done, the house was completely blanketed in dust, and they started creating plastic tunnels and crawl-spaces all over the house to try and keep from getting more dust into the ventilation system and everything. The house was starting to look like that scene from "E.T." where their house is covered in plastic sheets.
So since that took all day, nothing got laid, so they have to come back Monday, so for the entire weekend, I'm living in this creepy plastic house with concrete floors, half a carpet, and no furniture.
Never-ending.

Flood damage/commissions update
Posted 15 years agoSo the carpenters are finally coming tomorrow/Thursday to recarpet the whole house. I would have liked to have had this over and done with sooner, but the pneumonia and other factors really slowed all processes down. All furniture has been moved out of the house into the garage and the rest into a storage unit- even the beds- I'm camped out in a sleeping bag on the concrete in front of the fireplace as I type this. Anyway, everything is out of the house- all my computers, scanners, and etc. are dismantled and in the garage as well, even the wireless router had to be pulled out of the wall, so I'm typing this on my iPhone.
Anyway, the damaged walls have all been rebuilt, retextured, and repainted, so the carpet is getting put down tomorrow, and Friday the tile and wood flooring is going in. And then I have the joy of moving all our crap BACK inside the house and setting up all over again, so please understand that I may be hard to contact during that time, and it will be a good 3-4 days before my computer stuff and scanners are moved back in so that I can scan and continue sending out WIPs.
Am NOT looking forward to this, but will be thrilled to death when it's finally all over and I'm no longer looking at concrete floors in the house and ripped up walls.

Rage!!!!!!!!111111
Posted 15 years agoSorry to those I'm still behind on notes and emails with... I'm currently at war with the casino over my intermittent FMLA benefits. Without delving into too many personal details, I have a neurological disease, and because of that, I have FMLA that allows me to take up to 5 additional days off a month as needed depending on whether or not I get hit with a bad episode one week or something. Anyway, every year I have to go through this huge process of running back and forth between the casino and Kaiser getting all the paperwork and junk verified and having all my medical records released and signed over and crap whenever it's renewal time. This year the casino is being real bitches and they've been stringing the process out for almost 4 MONTHS ( my renewal date was July 1st ), and my shit STILL HASN'T BEEN SIGNED because they keep coming up with bullshit reasons why something is wrong with the paperwork again. They just called yesterday again and said again after I had just gotten new paperwork from Kaiser for them Thursday that it was STILL NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
And then after I called Kaiser back and told them the updated papers I needed from them, I took a nap and after I woke up, Kaiser had left a message basically saying, "Durr...what paper you need again?" after I had SPECIFICALLY left a detailed message with the most retarded receptionist I have ever spoken to. And it was after hours and I couldn't return their call and get them to give me the damn new paper to give to the casino.
So the soonest I might get this stupid piece of paper is Monday. I'm sick of spending every waking hour running back and forth between the damn casino and Kaiser Permanente.
In other news, mostly over my pneumonia. Still have a bit of a cough, but at least I can breathe again :p
Anyway, HI! ^^

Finished Commissions- Few Slots Re-Open
Posted 15 years agoI finished a full set of private commissions, so I'm reopening a few more slots for commissions. My pneumonia and the crap going on with recarpeting the flood-damaged house are slowing me down, so it's literally only going to be A FEW SLOTS, and then I'm shutting down commissions for awhile until I have more ample time to dedicate to them so people don't have to wait so long. So if interested, note me. First come, first serve.
Peeps still waiting on non-private commissions, I'll post WIPs this week ( which I don't normally do, but want to show there is definitely work done, I just take pride in my work and take my time. I HATE rushing art that people pay good money for. They deserve better than the equivalent of fast-food art ).
I'm tired of wheezing and gasping for air >:(. Pneumonia fugging sucks and I'm doing my best to stay out of the hospital, but daymn, my body is really fighting me on this. Piece of crap immune system that I was born with that breaks down a little more each year :p

Pneumonia
Posted 15 years agoGot test results back from Kaiser and sure enough, I have mycoplasma Pneumonia. The good thing is that that is the least dangerous form of pneumonia, but I assure you, it's still no picnic. I feel like absolute crap. My lungs feel so heavy and breathing is really hard. Hopefully the antibiotics will get me out of this quicker :p I'm tired of laying around in bed with no energy or no breath to even do anything.
Bluh
Posted 15 years agoHave a pretty bad lung infection, and ended up running a fever last night. Currently on medical leave from the casino. Fighting to breathe really fugging sucks. Will mostly be working on digital commissions during this time since I can work on them on my laptop in bed, which is where I'm going to be 'living' for awhile.
A note on notes...
Posted 15 years agoOkay guys, I'm getting A LOT of notes lately from people that just say:
"Hi".
This is not instant messenger, guys. My notes inbox is already full of notes of important correspondence from my commissioners and lots of messages from friends and etc. on FA and they're starting to get drowned out by a bunch of messages that says nothing but "Hi" or stuff like *licks you*. I'm starting to get so many of these that it's time I set up a few rules for noting me.
I like to talk to people, and have no problem answering questions or talking a little. But if you send me a message that just says "hi", what do you expect me to do? Just say "hi" back? I don't treat the Note system as instant messenger. I understand that a lot of people want to start a conversation with me who have never spoken to me before and are probably pretty shy or nervous about it, but I promise that as long as you are polite and cordial, I will respond to you in a friendly manner. But you've gotta give me more than just "hi". Tell me why you're writing. Ask a question. Start an actual conversation.
Now, while we're on the subject of politeness, I am *NOT* a lifestyler. I DO NOT appreciate random notes from strangers saying things like *licks you* and *purrs and rubs on you*. Seriously, that is the quickest way to get me to ignore you, because then I think you are nothing more than a creeper. I'm not an animal, I don't wish I was an animal, and even if I were, I would probably bite the balls off a strange animal who came up to me and started licking me for no reason anyway, lol. So PLEASE, for the love of God, do not send me those kind of one-liners unless you want to end up on my instant-creeper list.
That's it. It's not that difficult, guys
