Updates and Blabbity
Posted 15 years agoComing along, coming along.
House is still ripped up. The drywall guys will be by tomorrow to finally start putting the walls back together. The homeowner's insurance is only going to replace half the flooring in the house, so the rest is coming out of pocket ( including $2500 deductable. Oh goody ). Homeowner's Insurance in turn is going after Sears for the the fairly brand-new washing machine having a bad pressure doohickey or whatever, which caused the machine to never cycle, which caused it to just continue to fill with water and eventually flood the house.
It's been a real hassle trying to organize all these dealings with the renovation company, insurance company, and Sears on top of my 14 hour work schedule, which has made time for arting really, really tight. I've mostly been dedicating what little time I have had to chiseling away at the commission pile. In the meantime, I haven't been able to do any personal art except for a few warm-up sketches of Artaith and her padawan/apprentice, Duzel, which only
Wielder has seen, coz she's speshul. I won't be able to do proper color jobs for them anytime soon because I'm trying to concentrate on finishing a few more commissions first as a priority, but if I can find the time, I might throw the sketches into some messy collage and upload them to share or something.
I need a vacation :P

Commission Updates/Status
Posted 15 years agoBlah.
Waiting to hear back on a couple of approvals on some digital commissions. Once I do, hopefully will be able to actually post some finished commissions. Will have some character studies for some digital commissions posted by the weekend. Other digital commissions still in the coloring process.
I'm still reeling from the flood damage. There is no freaking carpet in the house. The renovation company had to rip it all up, so we're walking around on concrete. The tile has been all ripped up. The walls are all ripped apart several inches from the floor. The place looks fugly. Most maddening is the amount of personaly property that was destroyed/ruined by the water. Plus, I lost 2 complete sketchbooks that my stupid-ass left laying out ( was working on commissions on Friday, my day off. Left my shit out all over the place over night, flood happened early Saturday morning ). So not only did I lose 2 whole sketchbooks of personal artwork that I never got to scan that is now lost forever, but tons of commission art. Almost all of it was sketches for digital commissions which were already scanned, so that was okay, but the major bummer was losing 2 traditional commissions. One was partially inked, so it wasn't *too* far along, but the one I am most mad about getting ruined is one I have been struggling on for months. It's larger than I typically work ( 11 x 14 ) , has a huge background full of skyscrapers and city streets, and 4 comic book type panels that were sequences that were also part of the full piece. The idea of starting that thing all over again makes me want to beat my head against a wall. Also bad is that my prismacolor pencils were ruined. They're watercolor pencils now 9_9 ( bad joke ) I don't fancy shelling out the bucks for a whole new set right now, since I'm already staring a $2500 homeowner's insurance claim deductable for the flood in the face right now.
Think I'm gonna go buy some alcohol and get back to sketching.

Will you revive from the chaos in my mind?
Posted 15 years agoIn light of recent events, hurray for small joys. The newest Kamelot album was released this morning, and I've already listened to it 11 times through. They're definitely moving in a different direction with their music and style, but after all these years, I'm still along for the ride. "House on the Hill" ( another intriguing ballad ), "The Zodiac" ( completely addicted to this song ), "So Long" ( omigod, mesmerized by that song ), and "Necropolis" are pure rapture.
http://www.amazon.com/Poetry-Poison.....372&sr=1-1
I see Kamelot every year at the Key Club on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, and will be seeing them again in just a couple of weeks. Have been dying of anticipation, especially since they didn't tour last year.
At least I have a 'companion' to listen to as I spend the next few hours getting started on redoing some commissions :/ Who knew one damn faulty washing machine could cause so much chaos? All the flooring has been ripped up in the house, and a lot of wall panels have been ripped out as well. The place looks awful. At least we got the water running again so I don't have to bathe using bottled water anymore or go to the gas station to use the toilet.
Big thanks to everyone who have noted me and left comments!

Because the situation called for some irony
Posted 15 years agoSo the renovation company came out yesterday ( Sunday ) to deal with the flood aftermath. They ripped out all the carpeting and the padding underneath and hauled it away. All the whatchamacallit lining along the walls had to be ripped off, too. They removed tiles from the laundry room, the kitchen, entry, etc. etc. Set up giant fans to try and dry put the walls and cement foundation, etc. etc.
Well, while drilling, they drilled right through our main water pipe line for the house, so now we have no water. So we went from being flooded ankle-deep in water to no water. We called a plumber, who for some reason, did not have the correct piping to replace the kind that goes in newer homes. What? And no one else would come out that late on a Sunday. So we are going to have to go without water for at least 24 hours. To get ready for work, I literally squatted in the bathtub and washed myself with bottled water. It was ridiculous. We can't flush the toilets, so we've designated a "piss toilet" and are leaving the other 2 unused. And if you have to go Number 2, well, you better get your shoes and your hat coz you're going to the Arco station.
I've got only 90 minutes to nap before I go to my next job and I can't sleep over the sound of the damn industrial fans all over the house trying to dry out the walls and floors. Later today a claims adjuster is supposed to come by to see how much and what will be covered by the homeowner's insurance. Still looking at paying a $2500 deductable.
As if I wasn't feeling set back enough in my art. Now I have all this crap to deal with :/

Flood Disaster
Posted 15 years agoFML. Laid down for a nap today before work and woke up to the entire house flooded. So much shit ruined. Water more than ankle deep everywhere, in every room, even in all the closets. Absolute disaster. Apparently, the washing machine broke and water gushed through and out of it non-stop for a good couple of hours while I slept. The carpet throughout the house is utterly ruined and will have to be ripped up and replaced, and a lot of furniture and wall damage, too, as well as personal items. Even more, I had left my sketchbooks and art supplies lying out like a dumbass on the floor in the family room. Tons of art completely fucking ruined, including a commission I have been working on for months. It really doesn't matter about the sketches for the digital commissions, because they got scanned into the computer already and are in the process of being digitally colored, but all hand-done commissions are ruined. The only one that survived was
wielder's, because it was up in a cabinet with some animation cel books.
I spent all day with a shop vac sucking up water, trying to get it out of the house, dumping it out in the yard and street. It took hours and hours and hours and the place is still soaking wet.
So freaking frustrated and upset.

Mr. Sandman straight-up darted me
Posted 15 years agoJust finished an absolutely horrible work week at the casino. Holiday weekends are absolute nightmares at casinos because they are absolute zoos during holidays. Sunday night I was dealing Baccarat and had 30 players on my game, and long gone are the days of the Italian gentlemen's game of Bacc. The people who regularly play it now are complete animals. Within one hour, I had 2 fights break out on my table. The first fight was between two little old Chinese ladies fighting over money, and they started swinging their giant Coach purses at each other and walloping the hell out of one another. The second fight erupted between 2 men not even 20 minutes afterwards over whose was whose money. When you have 40 people all betting on the same table and all stacking their money on top of one another, fights like this break out quite often over whose is whose money. And I just sit there and hope that my migraine medication is working. The whole damn weekend was like that.
So come Thursday, I was deadbeat, and finished both jobs and got home at about 7 am. At 8 am I sat down to work on commissions. When I do, I usually put on a loooooonnnnnngggg movie so that I can't take a break from drawing until the movie is over. So I chose "The Godfather." Okay, I put this movie on about 8 am. I suddenly WAKE UP and look at the clock and it's 10 PM. Bloody hell. The last scene I remember is the wedding. THAT'S THE BEGINNING OF THE MOVIE. I didn't even make it through the wedding before passing out!!!??? So not only did I get NOTHING done, but I slept through a very important doctor's appointment. Plus, I had other errands I was supposed to do, like go to the bank and to the DMV.
Apparently, I REALLY needed sleep, but I HATE IT when I lose an entire day like that. Now today is crunch time because I go back to work tomorrow, so I gottta rush to get as much shit done as possible today, and I hate rushing around. I was hoping to have some full-color work posted today, but looks like that's not going to happen now, since I lost ALL OF YESTERDAY. At the most, I'm only going to have character studies, most of them which I can't even post, because they are for 100% private commissions that aren't to be shared online.
Oh well, off I go to try and get as much as done as one can!

Now, while they didn't take credit for drawing my ass-old pic, did I still want them to half-ass paint-bucket it and put it in their gallery? Nooooooo......
What's amusing to me is that I killed this image with watermarks, and for some reason it still didn't click that the reason for that is that I'm tired of seeing my art ( even this old crappy stuff ) re-altered and redistributed.
C'est la vie.

Commission Waiting List + Vacation
Posted 15 years agoOkay guys, I am totally swamped in commissions right now. All slots are filled up, and since I was still getting inquiries, I went ahead and started a commission waiting list. Basically, that means ( no money down ), that as soon as commission slots reopen, those on the waiting list will be notified first and get first priority of those spots. If they don't have the money/something else comes up and they can't take the newly open slot, they can just remain on the waiting list until the next round of commissions and the slot will be offered to the next person. I really do appreciate all your interest guys, I really do, but I work 14-16 hours a day and I've got to move out some more of these current commissions before I take on any more. Much love, I appreciate you guys and your patience :3
If I haven't responded to you about a commission yet, then more than likely I never got your note ( been having a problem with outgoing notes lately here on FA, so might be a problem with incoming as well ), or there was a problem with the content of the commission and I still need to get back to you on that.
Monday ( the 30th ) is the start of a small, 5 day vacation from my casino job, so a number of finished commissions will be posted during that period. I have several that are actually pretty complex pieces that have been kind of difficult that I am hoping to have done as soon as possible, as well. This vacation is my best chance to get work done on those harder, more involved commissions done, because it's so difficult working on tough subject matter when you work 14-16 hours a day and then it's a battle between squeezing in commission time and sleep. Casino job is 5 days a week, my second job is 7 days a week. I know I should be grateful, since there are so many people out there struggling in this economy that have been without work for a long time, but sometimes....yeearrgghh! I have a savings goal in mind, though, and am hoping to quit the second job by the end of the year. That will do WONDERS for my health ( sleep ) and I'll be able to hammer out commissions so much faster.
Anyway, thanks guys, as always, your support is always appreciated. On another note, please know that while I don't always have the time to respond to everything ( busy busy ) I read all your comments and always greatly appreciate them. Thanks!!!

The following may change at any time. As commissions take up more and more of my time, prices may increase. Changes may be made also as I encounter commissions that bring up things I may have forgotten to mention.
*Please expect anywhere from several weeks to a few months depending on complexity and other factors in anticipation of your commission. I believe in producing quality work, and often do a lot of prep work such as character studies or several drafts of an idea before what is then the final, completed commission. Any and all additional prep work for your commission is given to you free of charge*
Base Prices:
Badge Option 1: $20 - Mixed media, color badge size 2.5 by 3.5. Comes in a pre-punched, reusable soft plastic badge holder
Badge Option 2: $30 - Mixed media, color badge size 3 x 4. Laminated onto heavy, color cardstock and hand-punched.
Pencil Sketches - $25 for one character - These are pencil sketches done in blue and gray pencil leads. They aren't 'clean', ie., there will be a lot of build-up of construction lines. Additional characters start at $5 each.
Clean Ink - Cleaned up black and white pieces start at $35 for a single character. Additional characters are $7 each.
Digital Colored Pieces - $50 for one character, with additional characters at $10 per character. These are done in Photoshop.
Traditional Hand- Colored Pieces - $60 for one character, with each additional character being $15 each.
Backgrounds start at $10, and vary depending on complexity. And any other add-ons or type of artwork is always negotiable or open for discussion ( like a simple profile view of a character to show markings and stuff colored digitally would be less than the normal digital prices ).
Content:
I'm basically a 'Rated R' artist. Violence and gore just short of things like disembowlment are fine. No drug use/drug parapheranalia. No pornography. Nudes of both sexes may be depicted with sexual organs visible, and may be drawn cuddling or passionately kissing another of either sex, but no 'insertion' or intercourse may be depicted.
I cannot be commissioned for licensed characters for legal reasons.
I can and will draw humans and/or anime style.

It's Hot in Here!
Posted 15 years agoSo yesterday is 108 degrees here in the desert, and the air conditioning suddenly breaks at the casino about 40 minutes into the shift. Wednesday nights are what we call "Silver Wednesdays", because all the promotions are geared around the blue-haired crowd, so the place is filled with senior citizens and instead of the typical clubbing soundtrack fare, we have Big Band and oldies playing.
So the place gets hot, quick. As if weekday gamblers aren't the already miserable, irate addicts that they are, now they are griping at me and anyone who doesn't care to listen endlessly about the air conditioning problem, despite the fact I'm even more miserable than them, in my long-sleeved, high-collared shirt and vest and black dress pants and Dealer apron and bowties and junk. Those that aren't griping, look like they're about to die of heat stroke any minute as the temperature in the building soars.
The Pit Bosses and Floor Supervisors all stripped themselves of as much of their business suits as they could and stood in one place, furiously fanning themselves with their clipboards, grabbing bottled waters off the trays of the passing cocktail waitresses and hoarding them like rodents in the podium drawers in the middle of the Pit. If you need any back-up or help on your game, your SOL, coz your Floor wasn't going to walk two steps to get to your game, coz no one wanted to move, the temperature, with all the body heat in that stuffy casino was rising so quickly.
I was dealing Pai Gow Poker, a Pit that is notorious for being a place where no one smiles. But the 'guests' were more cranky than ever. It was hard for me not to laugh at one senior patron, who was sitting on my table. "What is wrong with yer damn air conditioning!?" he grunted, and when I looked at him, his head was so wet with prespiration, his short, white hair was sticking out in all kinds of directions and clumped at the end into little points.
The casino's EMT team was running around with their IV drips and oxygen tanks like crazy. It's Murphy's Law that California would see a sudden heat wave this late in the summer, and the air conditioning would break at the casino on the hottest day of the year so far, and the one day of the week it is full of senior citizens. And all the time, we had the good ol' 50's and 60's music playing away. All we needed was Richard Simmons to show up in some spandex and start yelling at us all, coz we were really sweating to the oldies that day. Oi.
Today it's 104 :P Oh look, it's cooling down!

Payment is required up front. I prefer paypal, but other methods are accepted.

Why does this drawing attract all the trolls?
Posted 15 years agoWarning! Flame wars ahead!
I am so sick of furry drama bullshit. Aren't you?
( scroll down for rampant asshattery )
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3912491/
I'm really beginning to question my sanity in choosing to come back and participate in this fandom....
Edit: so cute... Now the trolls come marching in... To the journal as well. Lol furriez.
Edit Edit: Also, to
Noma's little army of trolls, you don't see me resorting to the childish behavior of trolling your gallery pages and leaving retarded shouts and comments because it's inane, retarded, and a waste of time. I don't have any reason to invade your gallery pages and start sniping at you for bullshit reasons even though your bipolar little friend came in here and started throwing shit to begin with, and started this whole mess with her upstart attitude. But apparently, you're not above doing that. I suggest you find another way to entertain yourselves/waste your time if you value your accounts, because further retarded flaming/spamming is being reported to Dragoneer.
Edit ( x 3 ) Also to my watchers: Thanks guys for all the notes/pms and support and etc. Just please make sure not to let it leave here and go to
Noma's gallery or friend's galleries/pages. Don't leave shouts/reverse-harass her or them. There is no point in stooping to their level.

Goddamn you, DeviantArt
Posted 15 years agoJust got another freaking Trojan from DeviantArt while trying to navigate my own profile from one of their $hitty ads.
Nice, DeviantArt, nice.
I hate that website more and more.
I let my paid account expire. I pay them money because I don't want trojan-inducing ads. But at the same time, I don't want to put any more money in their pockets.

Give me ( and my characters ) a little respect
Posted 15 years agoYou know, this same kind of blatant disregard is the same kind of crap that made me leave the fandom in the first place. I'm almost afraid to rant about it, because I'm afraid some pervert is going to go, "Ooooh...that's a good idea!" and go off and create wank-material of their own just to spite me.
For instance, with the help of an ever-watchful fan and friend, I caught someone writing and uploding tentacle rape stories about me/my fursona, Alethia, right here to FA and a few other locations. Only to try and be sneaky, they switched the first two vowels of her name, so that it was spelled 'Elathia' in hopes of not getting caught. What was worse was all the people oggling over this story and providing fan art of my character being raped.
When I confronted this person, they tried to insult my intelligence by claiming it was a mere coincidence. COINCIDENCE? I think not. You expect me to believe you wrote a ROAD ROVERS tentacle porno about a white Japanese Spitz Dog named 'Elathia'? Japanese Spitz Dogs are a very uncommon breed of dog, and quite honestly, most people in the RR fandom had never even heard of them until I showed up with my creation Alethia 14 years ago. And I'm supposed to believe you rearranging the two vowels in her name was pure lazy coincidence? Give me a break.
On top of that, without pointing fingers ( let's just say the perp has the same handle as someone who is watching me here at FA. Might be coincidence, might not ), someone is taking all my art of Alethia, chopping off her head and tail, and copy-pasting them onto chicks getting buggered up the @$$ from hentai scenes and uploading them to f-chan.
My art gallery is not your personal grazing area to just take my work and manipulate it to your perverse pleasures. I can't stop you from, *ahem*, over-enjoying particular characters of mine, but show some goddamn respect and stop redistributing my artwork and altering it pornographically and taking my fursona and making a cumrag out of her. This kind of bullshit and disrespect towards artists and creators is what made me leave the fandom in the first place 8 years ago.

Weird Watchers
Posted 15 years agoWhenever I get new watchers, I do my best to go to each individual's page and look around and leave a shout as soon as I have the time to do so. Yesterday, when I did this ritual for a new watcher, I noticed they had all these page shouts from lots of people, including several popular artists, thanking them for the watch. But yet, they were only watching THREE people, and that was including me?
So I didn't even bother thanking them, as I figured I'd just go the way of the rest. Sure enough, today, I've already been removed from their watchlist. LOL.
What the hell is the point in adding tons of people to your watchlist and then just deleting them in less than 24 hours?

Last of the 88 hour work weeks
Posted 15 years agoAt exactly 6 am tomorow ( Thursday ) morning, my 88 hour work weeks will officially come to an end. Thank God. I've been without a day off for over a month now and I'm exhausted and cranky as all get out. Don't get me wrong, the paychecks have been fecking phenom, but there comes a point where money is no object; sleep is. So not only am I looking forward to putting up my feet, but I have so many errands and general life stuff that did not get done during that time simply because it was impossible.
Also, I'm taking an itty bitty vacation at the end of the month. It's only 5 days, but I'm planning simply to stay at home, recoup, and work on art and commissions. So look for uploads becoming a little more regular in the near future.
Thanks to everyone for their warm and kind thoughts on my last entry, and for your continued support of my art and general creativity.

I'm basically a 'Rated R' artist. Violence and gore just short of things like disembowlment are fine.

Payment is required up front. I prefer paypal, but other methods are accepted.
I'm typing this up rather quickly, so I apologize if anything is left out. Thanks!!!

Last night, after swingshift had ended at the casino, a good friend and co-worker/fellow dealer, D ( just gonna use his first initial to protect privacy ) got into a fight with his girlfriend on the way home. Details are sketchy, but for whatever reason, he chose to throw himself out of their moving vehicle while it was going approximately 75 mph. Not only did he suffer instant head injuries and broken limbs, but was more or less pulled apart by traffic that couldn't stop in enough time.
He was rushed to a trauma center, and was barely alive in any sense. All night tonight we at work have solemnly waited word- only to just now be notified that he was removed from life support.
We are all shocked and upset and hurt. World-wide, those that make up what is known as the Table Games department are a very, very close-knit group. We all care deeply for one another and form very strong bonds. Once you are a Dealer, no matter what else you do with your life, deep down inside, you will always be one.
In fact, a lot of us have worked before at other casinos together. Some end up working with another in Atlantic City to meet again at some hole in the wall card room in New Mexico, or work in Vegas together and meet again and are co-workers again 25 years later on a riverboat casino in the south.
I've known D for 7 years, and I am sad that he so suddenly threw his life away. I love planning my schedule around weddings and birthdays, not funerals :(
He had a lot of friends here at work, and we are all mourning.

Commission Update
Posted 15 years agoJust finished another 16 hour day. And I haven't had a day off in weeks, and am not slated to have a day off until August 1st. Ugh. However, I've decided to become *ahem*....sick... next weekend from at least one of my jobs, and will be doing some serious commissions crunch-time. So about a week from now I should have some new progress scans for people and for my people with more complex commissions, should have the finalized sketches for 'approval' before they go into inking/coloring.
Time to crash and burn, folx!

Post Holiday and General Madness
Posted 15 years agoI hope everyone had a happy and relaxing holiday weekend. Mine was anything but. Slammed at the casino, working 10 hour shifts. I found it highly amusing that all 3 nights in a row, every live band we had playing in the joint ( aside from the big concerts featuring "America" and Lionel Ritchie ) ALL covered "Jessie's Girl". I was highly amused by this because thanks to a certain retard over at DeviantaArt ( reference, DragonLAMER2000 ):
http://artaith-21.deviantart.com/ar.....Girl-165511507
that song will forever live in infamy and controversy in my mind, lol.
On a more infuriating note, for the next 3 weeks I will be working 6 days a week at the casino, and 7 days a week at my second job. So basically, for the month of July, I will have Z-E-R-O DAYS OFF. This is exactly why I only take commissions in limited slots, because my schedule gets so damn hectic. I am barely finding time to sleep and breathe at the moment, and after this monstrous weekend, I'm just beat to hell.
So thanks so much guys for your patience. I'm working on all commissions at the moment, in the tiniest tidbits that I can eek out, and will hopefully, God willing, will even have a few finished entirely by the end of next week with a few more more than halfway.
I want to thank you all who have been so polite and kind and have taken the time to leave comments and shouts and have faved and watched. I try to personally thank each of you, but I get so busy, it sometimes becomes impossible, so please know how much gratitude I have for all your kind words and thoughts. And thank you for understanding how busy I am and that art ( particularly furry art ) is just a HOBBY, and that other things come first. So thank you for understanding I can only be so attentive as I have a lot of stuff IRL to tend to including a chronic health problem.
Yada yada blah blah, I just finished a 16 hour work day. It's time to drop!

So, live over there for just a short while.

Posted 15 years agoYa know, it's bad enough someone jackhole cut the heads off of my Alethia pics and slapped them onto an animated video of an anime chick getting buggered, but at least I could find a copy of the original drawing they cut it off of to get it removed.
Stumbled across another hack piece on DeviantArt where someone cut off the head of Colleen from a pic I drew and slapped her into a hentai sequence. What's frustrating is that I can't find the original pic ( lots of my stuff got lost in a comp crash ) that I did to prove it's an alteration of my work. And of course, DeviantArt isn't going to take my word for it :P

Commission Information
Posted 15 years agoOkay, I'm putting up this journal to share commission information, as I'm getting tired of repeating myself over and over and over again through private messages ( my fault. I didn't put up a proper 'manifesto' coz I wasn't expecting to get swamped ).
The following may change at any time. As commissions take up more and more of my time, prices may increase. Changes may be made also as I encounter commissions that bring up things I may have forgotten to mention.
Base Prices:

That's why it's called fanart, jackass

You know, deviantart is already starting to annoy me. I either get a comment saying, "Redraw this pic but with these characters instead, plz", or some moron who waxes lyrical on how a particular pairing is "wrong".
Edit:
I definitely think I won't be using DevArt much. Not that this annoying situation calls for it, but undoubtedly there will be worse wankers in the future for whatever reason, and you don't have the option of blocking the user or even deleting comments? That's stupid. Oh boy, I can just "hide" their comments, which of course, just makes you look cowardly.
Edit Edit:
Thank you
Wielder for finding the 'ban' feature for me. No need to implement it just yet- just in case the asshat decides to continue beating a dead horse.

Posted 15 years agoJust a little update for my commissioners.
It's a holiday weekend, which means the casino is slammed, and since we are short on specialty game dealers, I'm working 14 hour shifts in Baccarat, Pai Gow poker, and Ultimate Texas Hold'em poker. Only good thing is that I get a 20 minute break every hour. So I'm sneaking in concept scribbles of current commissions as I can, so I'll hopefully have something tangible for all my commissioners within the next few days.
Hope everyone has a more relaxing holiday weekend than I am ^_^
