Notes from the Cape is going well, especially with Gerrark heading up most of the writing. I come up with the general story and do some editing, and do the art. Super Deluxe Joe picked up some coding on the last one too and will probably be helping with that in the future, too. WBB team back at it again. It's a great project and I really like doing it. Hard to stop writing lovely stories about a town of kind people living in a peaceful world. And banging a lot! I hope to do another season or two and see how it goes, then decide on continuing or starting another VN project.

The private gallery is also going well. For those that don't know I host all my comics and art, visual novels, everything, on my main gallery/archive site. I also post two full colour drawings every Friday, except for a few weeks a year for holidays or in months with five Fridays. There's a WIP blog that I update 5-6 timse a week, too. Think I've been doing it over 10 years now. It's still a lot of fun and I'm glad to have so many supporters to help keep it going. I think my drawing has gotten a lot better this past year, I'm pretty happy looking back at the 2018 galleries.

Other stuff

I may end up working on another project illustrating short (sexy) stories later this year but that is still to be determined. I don't have any hard plans for cons this year, though I'd like to try to make BLFC or MFF or maybe Denfur. Hope to do some more traveling by train, I really love it. I live in a sort of cooperative now with a bunch of good ppl (including the WBB team) and it's going well. We're pickling things and cooking for each other, working on furry projects and having a peaceful existence. Getting to ride my bike to the market more than in the city, even in winter. Hope to have a nice garden next year with zucchini and tomatoes. Hope to live in peace and harmony and love this 2019 and hope the same for everyone reading as well. I'm super excited to be premiering a brand new project!

It's called Notes from the Cape.
It's a visual novella series about the characters from the Willy Bear Beach games.

The installments are basically mini visual novels that are all loosely part of the same series and setting. They'll feature scenes from the everyday lives of the characters, so it's a very relaxed, slice of life kind of series, with less emphasis on long narrative arcs and more on mood and characterization. There's no central character, instead focusing on different characters and friendships between the townsfolk besides just Willy. But all the characters from WBB will be there, and the characters from WBB2 will be introduced, too.

I'm very excited about the episodic, novella format. It allows me to make content in a manageable, serialized way that contributes to a larger story and setting, without the months or years that larger projects can often take (as has been the case w/WBB2!).

The novellas will feature professionally recorded music and sound effects.

The first one is about 10 minutes but the rest will be between 15-20. Some will have branching paths, others will not.
It is a series for adults that will often feature nudity and sex. The first episode is SFW but most of them will not be 😉

I will be releasing one episode per month, near the beginning of each month. But if I get enough patrons I'll be able to do more!

The first episode will be totally free for anyone to view! It's sort of a pilot, meant to set the mood for the series and say hello to some familiar characters. It is fairly SFW, though still most certainly for adults. Plans for episode two are already looking quite a bit sluttier lol!!

The cheapest tier is 5 bucks but they all give you access to the same content. Patrons get the novellas, of course, but you'll also have access to a production blog for the series, and there will be illustrated Q&A sessions too, where patrons can submit questions and ask things about the cast. Patrons will also vote on things such as which characters they want to see in future episodes, and other stuff like that.

The idea was to price it like a regular serialized comic, which usually take about 10-20 minutes to read. If you can afford more, you are fortunate, and should give me a tip 😇


I've been posting about this new project, so let me answer a frequent question right away: Is this Willy Bear Beach 2?
No! That is a full sized visual novel/game that is currently being programmed. Notes is more straight forward, small, and has no game or inventory aspects. WBB2 does, and is large and has a lot of moving parts. It is taking longer than we hoped, but it is still in development and is moving along nicely.
WBB2 is also being made by a team, whereas Notes from the Cape is a solo project. WBB2 will be offered on Itch like the first one was. It will not be released as part of this project.
Because the assets and writing are completely done for WBB2, I am free to move onto this project!

The following is an opinion.

Bigots, nazis, etc, that are sincerely trying to put those things behind them and improve themselves and their mindset should not be forever shunned by the community. They should be helped. Changing is not an easy thing to do. They will be reforming their entire identity while simultaneously abandoning what is likely their only support group. Everyone needs support. Especially in a time of change and reflection. And continuing to flaunt receipts and reject ppl that are sincerely trying to change will do nothing but push those ppl right back into those groups that they feel supported them.

Of course that's easy to say. Actually doing it will be more challenging, but not anything humans haven't been built to do. We are social creatures that thrive under peace and supportive communities.

It will be difficult at times to tell if a person is truly changing or is just full of shit. As always it will be up to the mature and decent ppl of the fandom to risk offering time and friendship to a potential bigot or liar. If you're wondering exactly who will do this... We all will. Or, I believe, that we all should, at the very least, try*. I'm not talking on a mass level. No one's going to send out a newsletter to every fuckin furry for a vote on who's verboten or some shit. It's way smaller than that. It's the hobby circles. The local groups. Discord and Telegram groups. Furmeets. Stuff like that. You look after your own, curate your groups, and try to keep each other on a good and positive path. When a known former bigot that seems to be trying to reform asks to join your group, think about giving them a chance. No one is obligated too, but it's worth considering. Discuss it with your group. And if you do take that chance, warn them that people are cautious, and that they'll be monitored. Not to jump on them for tiny mistakes, but to protect the group and to ensure they are sincere in their change. And hey, if it turns out they're liars, or still assholes, then, yeah, kick their fuckin asses out of your groups. And warn all your other circles about that person as well.

And that's just plain Community building, yall! It all starts small and emanates outward. We look after those in our circles. And those circles extend outward and into other circles, other groups. The good or the bad of those circles extend with them and influence one another. And former bigots and nazis must feel like they will be allowed into more supportive and positive circles if they change. Not as best pals or anything even close to that. But they need to know that their former mistakes won't be unduly held against them and that they'll be given a chance. Otherwise, they have hardly any incentive to even consider self examination or change.

*Of course individuals that have been directly effected or harmed by these toxic groups or individuals have absolutely no responsibility to engage with these people. Victims should not be expected to. But the general community should not make an effort to smear them based on their past actions if they are sincerely making an attempt to change and learn. To do so is virtue signaling of the pettiest order and does nothing but prove what alt furs so often say about others.

That's all. Unrepentant nazis and bigots can fuck right off. Get the fuck outta here. But also know a lot of us will still be here when you're ready to change and learn and be a better person. It's hard as hell but I promise it's better. It's rewarding. When you're ready to join a group of ppl that reject hate speech, bigotry, and harmful ideology, we're here. That's what "Change your hearts or die" means. It's not a threat, it's an offer.

I've gotten a lot of questions about Willy Bear Beach 2, so I will try to answer them here. If I missed anything please ask below!


- When is it coming out, and how much will it be?

We hope to have it released this summer, probably late in the season. We want it to be polished and tight and to make sure there's no glitches or typos or anything like that. So we're taking our time. The game is much, MUCH bigger than the first one!! However! The script is complete and assets creation is somewhere around 40-50% complete, and I hope to have them completed within 4-5 weeks. Programming will begin soon too, and then testing, etc. It will probably be 20 bucks, and we'll also releasing some limited edition packages as well. Stay tuned!


- What's the premise? Will it play the same was as the first one?

Several changes to the format and premise have been made since a year or so ago when I last released much info about it. Originally it was going to be a traditional visual novel format with several paths and an ending that depended on your choice of paths. It also featured a new character that the player would control instead of Willy. This has all changed, however!

This time around, instead of being guided along and choosing branching paths, the players explore the cape somewhat freely. The game takes place over the course of a week, and each day you choose several locations for Willy to visit, where he meets friends and finds items along the way. You see pieces of each character's life, somewhat incompletely and casually. When you discover a characters complete arc during one play through, or have the correct items when you meet them, (or both!), you can unlock new scenes with them.


- How many characters and arcs are there?

The arcs function a bit differently than they typically so in a visual novel. Depending on how you play, it is actually possible to complete more than one arc in a single play through. But without getting too wrapped up categorizing stuff, there are basically 9 arcs that feature some kind of unlockable events, and then there are a few other arcs that are more ambient and mood setting, or just there for fun. There's a total of 18 characters, tho a couple of them are only seen a few times.
