FWA 2011 has come and gone. This was only my second year at this con, but once again it proved why it has quickly become my favorite and I already look forward to going back next year.

While I think that last year as a little more wild and crazy and the Hilton was a little more interesting hotel over the Sheraton, I fully understand why they moved. As well, I understand why there were a few hiccups this year, the staff was trying a whole new way of doing things and being their first year of implementation it gave them a chance to see where the issues are so that next time the wrinkles will be ironed out.

Again, while this year felt a little more toned done I still had a hell of a time. My mate came along with me, which made it awesome by default, we got to meet and talk to artists, picking up some art along the way, got to see some old friend and even made some new ones. Along with catching the cool events going on, these are the things I love about cons and why I go, I only wish I could go to more but like everyone knows time and money is always an issue.

There was always a plan to hit two cons this year and at one point it was looking like Gothy and I might hit a third. RF was going to be our next, fallowed by MFF, but after discussing things we have decided to drop RF. FWA is one she agrees we have to return to and we shall see how MFF goes, it is a local con for her since she lives just outside Chicago.

We will be keeping our eyes out for other cons we might want to visit next year, but for now FWA and MFF will be it for us. However, other than these two cons I get to see Gothy when she comes and visits my home town for a week in July. It is what we are doing instead of hitting a third con this year since it will mean we get a full week together and do not have to deal with staying at a hotel.

We arrived safe and sound. For those curious, Gothy and I are in room 836 and so far the plans for a room get together for movies and booze is set for after 10:30 PM on Saturday night.

Doing my final prep before my flight. Will be heading to the air port in less than an hour and a half to catch my first flight. I am actually having to take a shuttle flight from Portland to Seattle before moving on to Chicago since I could not find a direct flight. Stopping off there to meet up with  gotherinefoxx and relaxing for a few hours before we take she short trip onto Atlanta. We should arrive tomorrow, late in the morning. Our goal is to get to the hotel before 1PM so Gothy can attend the Munchkin tournament going on. Wish us luck!

I know everyone is familiar with Post Con Depression, but has anyone ever gotten Pre-Con Depression? Cause I suffering from it badly.

Only about another month to go till con time. I just bought my airline ticket that will get me to Chicago, there I shall hook up with my mate and together we are flying down to Atlanta. With that, the last of my travel arrangements are taken care, at this point it is just making sure I have everything I want to bring with me all set and ready to go.

Still keeping an eye out for some pre-orders far as badges, but gotten a few as it is already so no worries there. Will be curious to see if I buy any artwork while I am there over just picking up my badges.

My costume is being shipped today, very excited to get a hold of that as soon as possible do to the fact I need alterations made.

So far the room is still just my mate and myself, but there is a spare bed. Only people that have mentioned interested are not even sure they can make it so... yeah, room still available for anyone looking.

I have actually been wanting to buy a fancy new suit for a good long while now, one that reflects the kind of outfit I would ideally like to see my character wearing. This year's theme for FWA and my mate have inspired me to finally get myself to do so.

For those that are not in the know, this year FWA has a Wonderland theme and while I am not dressing up as any particular character from those stories, I have gotten myself a nice period piece that reflect the clothing from that area. The clothing style is known as Victorian, roughly between the 1700's to 1900.

I was able to find a real nice site that specializes in this specific era, btw perfect for anyone interested in more accurate steam-punk attire. Cooler than that they have a real nice selection and I was able to put together something very close to the outfit I have been picturing my character in for like that past year or so.

Once everything arrives I will give a nice preview, but those going to FWA this year will get to see it in person. I will more than likely continue to wear this at the other cons I visit at well, since this is pretty much the whole reason I have been wanting to get something like this in the first place.

I know I use to watch the old cartoons back in the 80's growing up and enjoyed them. I pretty much watched any cartoon I could and always loved any that had animals involved, hence the seed the would make me a furry was planted at a very young age. I still love cartoon, or I should say I am a fan of animation, any and all kinds including stop motion.

Now, while I did use to watch MLP, I cannot remember anything about the old shows and never collected the toys, my sister did when little but grew out stuff like that when she hit puberty. With all the hype that I had seen in the fur community about the newest incarnation, FiM, my interest slowly got peeked as I got a glimpse at the new pony designed. At first I thought it was just a fad to try them the way people were, I had no idea they actually updated their look till I saw a clip of the show, which put my curiosity past the tipping point and I made myself sit and watch the show, starting with the two-part pilot.

As someone that absolutely adores things I find cute, I have to say I have completely fallen in love with the redesigns. I cannot say I was ever a fan of the original squat, chubby almost SD of chibi-ish style of the original. The new smaller, more trimmed down, ponies with obvious anime influence, I hear the people that did Power Puff Girls are behind it so that I think helps as well, is working for me. I have to say I like the writing and the personalities given to the characters as well, I find myself either plain old admiring how cute they look or giggling my head off at their antics.

About the only thing I find a little lame is the whole idea about there being some kind of moral behind the stories. While I find it a little cheesy I guess it is kind of the whole point of this series, figuring out the magic behind friendship. *eye roll* Which is annoying pointed out by Twilight Sparkle, the only boring pony in the group. I would happily see her flick out of the show and it just be about the other ponies crazy miss-adventures.

Honestly, I have no idea why I am making a journal about this other than to simply get it out of my system. Currently I am hunting down artists to make pony version of my characters and as of to date I have 3 in the works and 1 more to go. *laughs like a crazy person*

All I really have left to do is get our airline tickets, for which I am waiting for my tax return that I am expecting soon. After that there be nothing left to do but get our tails there and enjoy the experience.

Our room is booked and all set to go, we shall be staying at the con hotel, the Sheraton. Considering that we could only get a room with two beds we have decided that we might as well offer our room up to a couple of people. We have the extra bed anyway and it never hurts to have people help cover expenses.

For anyone that might be interested, two really is the limit we want to keep at far as roomies go and we would prefer they be people we know well. Be that as it may, we are willing to get to know any possible applicants, the biggest issue is that we know we can trust those we are staying with and feel comfortable with them being there.

Seriously, if any furs out there take any kind of negative stance on tonight's episode of the Simpson's, you are idiots.

Not like I have ever gone before, never really had the opportunity and frankly, in the past, never had much desire to go. Perhaps it is a combination of getting to know many of those I know will be there and the fact I generally enjoy the con experience, but this year I am actually kind of bummed out I wont make it.

Really had more to do with all those I know I see saying they are going to be there, makes me realize how much of a good time I am going to miss out seeing them and hanging out. Sadly, it is just not financially in my budget even with how close it relatively is to my location. If I had planed to go this year, last year, I would of had funds set aside but that was just not the case.

Anyway, it is off to FWA in March which I luckily still have a few months to save up money for and will have my tax return, which is what helped me get there last year. Even thought it is kind of a long way to go to get to a con compared to FC, it is one I know is a lot of fun and I still know many that attend.

Frankly, after last year's RF I am almost tempted to skip it this year and put the money towards going to FC next year... but I am not sure I am going to, my mate enjoyed RF it was our first con together and she said she would like to visit again. Dropping RF would change our visiting plans quite a bit, but she could just come stay at my place for a week like we are planning to do in the summer over hitting a con..

Mmm, something to ponder and discuss with her about. Though she is also likely to see this journal.

I have a room for Jess and myself all set up for next years FWA, but it seems that the only ones available were those with two beds. Since we don't need a second bed for ourselves we figured we would offer it to someone that might.
