Posted 6 years agoToday started as a regular day, the light snow on he ground glistened in the first rays of the rising Sun. I went to work riding my four miles to get there this morning the vehicle was silent as my roommate took me in his was due to just waking up, and mine was due to the beautiful Sunrise this morning colours not often seen painted the sky like a modern day work of art, casting my gaze out the front window and fumbling with my phone to get a picture just to notice the windshield was starting to haze over and my shot was ruined. Got to work and the regular hustle and bustle of the Hotel was very relaxing, said hi to the overnight associate and started counting my register, time seemed to slow at that moment cause the count seemed to take forever. As soon as I was finished my coworker gave me a hug and left for the day, this was my first shift alone so I was just slightly nervous. I start my work changing the night lighting to the day one and start to print out my reports I start to notice that the ink on the paper seems darker than usual I checked the ink and nothing was different so must have just been my imagination. After that the day started to pick up as guests started leaving the hotel, around 11am I do my walk around to make sure all my guests were checked out. It was my lunchtime I went to the restaurant and placed my order had to wait a while due to the early morning rush, I get my meal and dig into my food like a man who hasn't seen food in months. I finished my meal quickly in my office, and take my tray back to the restaurant and thank my server. I head back into the laundry room and start taking care of the things left for me from the last shift the day drones on as my iPod music starts to fade as I get into the zone and get the laundry finished or as much as I can, I look up at the clock and notice I've five minutes left I run to the front to do my final count and finish my paperwork, as I'm finishing my work I notice my coworker has walked through the front door I greet her and wait patiently for her to clock in so she can count the register and I can go home. So that was the end of my first shift alone
