Well, hello there!

In an effort to constrain the rapid bundle of nerve endings, thoughts, and short-short-short attention span that is Artide, I am starting to try to discipline myself in order to form several habits. The forefront of these habits include writing every day for an hour, going to the gym three times a week, and drawing every Sunday. I really hope that I can do this. You guys give me strength! Thanks so much for being here for me.

I just wanted to give you all a little update. Expect more from me soon!

#1: You admire a character for trying more than for their successes.

#2: You gotta keep in mind what's interesting to you as an audience, not what's fun to do as a writer. They can be v. different.

#3: Trying for theme is important, but you won't see what the story is actually about til you're at the end of it. Now rewrite.

#4: Once upon a time there was ___. Every day, ___. One day ___. Because of that, ___. Because of that, ___. Until finally ___.

#5: Simplify. Focus. Combine characters. Hop over detours. You'll feel like you're losing valuable stuff but it sets you free.

#6: What is your character good at, comfortable with? Throw the polar opposite at them. Challenge them. How do they deal?

#7: Come up with your ending before you figure out your middle. Seriously. Endings are hard, get yours working up front.

#8: Finish your story, let go even if it's not perfect. In an ideal world you have both, but move on. Do better next time.

#9: When you're stuck, make a list of what WOULDN'T happen next. Lots of times the material to get you unstuck will show up.

#10: Pull apart the stories you like. What you like in them is a part of you; you've got to recognize it before you can use it.

#11: Putting it on paper lets you start fixing it. If it stays in your head, a perfect idea, you'll never share it with anyone.

#12: Discount the 1st thing that comes to mind. And the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th – get the obvious out of the way. Surprise yourself.

#13: Give your characters opinions. Passive/malleable might seem likable to you as you write, but it's poison to the audience.

#14: Why must you tell THIS story? What's the belief burning within you that your story feeds off of? That's the heart of it.

#15: If you were your character, in this situation, how would you feel? Honesty lends credibility to unbelievable situations.

#16: What are the stakes? Give us reason to root for the character. What happens if they don't succeed? Stack the odds against.

#17: No work is ever wasted. If it's not working, let go and move on—it'll come back around to be useful later.

#18: You have to know yourself: the difference between doing your best & fussing. Story is testing, not refining.

#19: Coincidences to get characters into trouble are great; coincidences to get them out of it are cheating.

#20: Exercise: take the building blocks of a movie you dislike. How d'you rearrange them into what you DO like?

#21: You gotta identify with your situation/characters, can't just write ‘cool'. What would make YOU act that way?

#22: What's the essence of your story? Most economical telling of it? If you know that, you can build out from there.

So after a long time of thinking, a lot of deliberation from friends, and especially venturing out to Rainfurrest, I have decided to come back to writing. Writing, for me, is something that I've always had a very large passion for, but not something I've been able to indulge myself with in a while. It started with a break and then getting distracted by life and writing turned into a hiatus that stretched more than a year. The decision was made based off of two factors. Rainfurrest rekindled my fire for writing, and rekindled my desire to give something back to the furry community. With the latter, I feel that writing is something that I am good at, much better than drawing, and something that I would be able to share with you all much more readily and with much more professionalism than artwork.

So, this is my journey.

I don't know where it's going to lead me, but I am going to try and write for an hour every day until I start finding things i like. I hope you all will be here.

And no, I'm not giving up artwork. It is just becoming a backseat priority.

Hey guys,

For those of you that care...I know it's been a while, and I know I owe some of you art. (It is getting done, I promise)

I'm sorry that it's been taking me so long to produce stuff. I've been dealing with really bad depression very recently, and it's negatively impacted my production. It's getting to the point where I am considering getting some medication. I'm not trying to get pity or sympathy, but I am trying to get your understanding. I will start drawing again soon, I will start creating more...it's just taking longer than I thought to get on my feet.

Also, for those of you who are interested in hanging out with me, I will be at the following conventions:

Well, now that the con's over, I wanted to talk about it a little bit. For those of you who don't know what Elliott's Spring Gathering is, it is a furry convention in south Florida (Orlando to be specific) and was hosted at the Hyatt Grand Cyprus, a HUGE and gorgeous hotel in Orlando. I roomed with  Convoy  doubled Diego Wolf, and  wuzzletodd They were great roommates (especially to put up with me for a few days. XD)

I hung out with a lot of really cool artists. I got some commissions from  irishneko and  khirnah Two very talented ladies who you all should follow right now, and my friend  lichdog and I met up and did a trade!

Some other really cool people were at the con too! I got to meet  zen who was very nice. I bought him a cupcake. XD  gideon and  bonk were there too! I was really lucky to be able to meet such great artists. They really inspired me to push forward and make my art the best it can be. I also got commissioned, which was weird because I wasnt expecting that. XD I did a badge for my friend  morokai and a commission for Gus.

Also, a really quick shoutout to  Aaden_shywolf and  darkwolf72 who threw an awesome party, and were really kind to me during the party. I really owe you guys one, and I'll make it up's pretty soon.

At the end of the convention, we all got a free pass to Disney! I hung out with some local friends like  rayfoxsith

All in all I had a wonderful time, and I wish I could have done and seen more and hung out with more people. ESG was a great convention, and it was my first furry one. I was not disappointed!
