I didn't see any I liked, but I might ghost through a few. I'm hosting the wine tasting- please don't come if you want to get drunk or talk about your fursuit with me. I only have room for like, 15 people in the room this year so only come if you're actually interested in a wine tasting. The getting drunk thing will happen naturally over the course of the tasting, lol.

So there's this minecraft modpack called feedthebeast, I'm sure you already know. One of the mods, magic farm 2- is ridiculously fun. The difficulty is tuned up with slower growing crops, rapidly decreasing hunger, tools have to be made using tinkers constructs(Forging and moulding) and there are a shitload of diablo 2 style mods- like Poopfucker the hungry(Rust, Fireballs, Invisibility) with increased drop ratios(Diamond armour, carrots, saddles, etc).

They also just released a mod called agrarian skies which is AMAZINGLY FUN.

I have some roomspace for folks needing a room for AC. I've got room for 2-3 in my doubletree suite. It's a casual party room(Art jams, hanging out, whatever is A-OK, no raves or orgies though).

$40 bucks might seem like an expendature, but if you work with fur or foam, you should get your ass a respirator. ANOTHER peer review study on the effects of synthetic fibres on lung tissue came out(It's cancers, all the way down). Mine are probably already fucked, but I bought this tonight anyways.

Respirators come in 3 basic varieites: N, R + P. N means they aren't resistant to oils, R is resistant to oils, and P means oils can't touch this mofo.

As fursuit makers we don't generally have to worry about oils, except maybe one or two odd chemicals, so N(the cheap ones) are just fine.

There's another rating after the letter, which will be like.. 90, 95, 100. This is the % of particulates the filters filter out. Obviously you want like, N100 which means 100% of non-oil based particulates are filtered out. Actually now that I think about it, aren't fur fibres made partially of petroleum? Okay so you want an R100, but I digress.

Fellow artists, I need some advice.

I made a head for someone a few months back, and the commission ordeal aside, when they got it, they had a number of complaints, which instead of telling me, they posted a really scathing review. The review was never posted(to the review group) because most of their complaints were.. very strange(Complaints like I used elastic instead of rubber bands, or didnt use straps in their head). I found this out VIA SOMEONE ELSE, contacted them and asked them to clarify what the problems were, and if they told me I would be more than happy to either refund them for the head or fix any issues.

They freaked out at me, told me I ripped them off and that they'd have to make "A number of changes but they'd probably sell it because it was so terrible".

Fast foreward to this week, and holy crap are they everywhere. Before posting anything about their suit, they're all "Don't commission this person". And I mean everywhere. They don't list whats wrong publicly and tell people they have to contact them for details- obviously because a lot of the complaints are ridiculous. But people probably won't, they'll probably take what this guy is saying and run with it.

Now, I've got a pretty good reputation because in the 5 years I've been doing this I've only had 2 people who were dissatisfied(That includes this person), but I'm constrained by "Professionalism" not to jump on their posts and say "Actually here are the problems you listed, I offered to fix them, you turned me down".

I really don't know how to approach this on a professional level. Suggestions?

Hey ya'll, I did not go to FWA this year :( And I am a stoic collector of FWA posters for my work-room. Does anyone have an extra 2014 poster they're willing to part with? I will pay for it and for shipping or whatever, or trade you something I have laying around or whatever you like. I have a wallspace saved for it but I got slapped with an $800 bill a week before FWA this year, so it was super super super shittastic luck.

Also I need to make some window shades(That halloween fabric?), but I can hang some broadcloth for now, fuck it I have real projects to do.

I have to start scotty, the axoltl and eredran first, I've got a few things I need to pick up at the store to start these.. mostly hot glue, and I'm waiting on a resin blank to show up for the beak on scotty. I might restock eyes while I'm thinking about it.

I want to use the waxpost utility, but it seems to only be available for chrome. Anyone know of an equivalent utility I can use on waterfox(Firefox's 64 bit big brother)? Or how I can use waxpost without installing chrome?

I got to meet a ton of cool folks, including our charity people(Omar, Isabele and.. the one.. whose name I could never remember. Because she was quiet. OH SO QUIET. I think we scared her a little, lol), and some people who knew me from FA! They were super duper stoked to finally meet the furry community(as otaku themselves Im sure they heard plenty of nasty heresay about us).

Did a lot of hanging out with other fursuit makers and artists(It was super cool to meet  ampdragoness) and generally make farting noises with our mouths. Midori was there in her amazing night fury costume. All weekend. As usual. She slips into and out of costumes but I think there is nothing left of her mortal form but bones enough to hold the costumes together. HER FLESH LONG AGO SWEATED AWAY.

Sad I couldnt make it to FWA, I always have a riot there, but FtM was pretty great and definitely the balm I needed. Next year I might even stay in the hotel. The windows fucking open! WHAT IS THAT EVEN.

The best part about FtM by far was the "Why I hate the fandom panel", which was like.. all artists making faces at each other, and one drunk guy who couldnt stop shouting about how great furry was, and one hipster who tried to be a debbie downer, but I yelled at him and he went away. SUCH IS MY POWER. It was so nice to gab with other artists and generally be salty, vinegary chip people and vent. That shit will EAT YOU UP inside, you dont even know! Unless you've worked retail, then I'm sure you know EXACTLY what its like to be self employed. I think they should establish a similar panel at every big convention. I think it would benefit a lot of artists to feel they had a place where it was okay to vent and let off frustration without fear of reprisal or looking like angry dicks to a potential client base.

Oh! And fuck what else was there. I didn't get to do A LOT because I was staffing, but the few things I got around to doing were SUPER OH YEAH

So there was a rainbow girls event downstairs(Baby lady masons, basically)- and this mom and her 3 daughters- I'd guess around 12, 8 and 3-4- got stuck in this phone alcove as the fursuit parade went by.

OMFG. That little girl was having the TIME OF HER LIFE. "LOOK MOM AN OWL! LOOK ANOTHER BIRD! LOOK ITS A DOGGIE!", just running between peoples legs and high fiving and hugging everyone that would have it. She tried to take one home at one point, too. It was so adorable. After the parade was over, she looked at her mom with a grin that just about split her head in half and said "I told you animals could talk".
